Captain is the pup of our full-blooded German Shepherd, Boo. The father is a black Lab. Captain is one of the best dogs we've ever had. He lives on 4 acres where his main job is squirrel control. But, normally, you can find him stretched out on his back on the deck. He comes from a family with 10 children, the youngest of which is special needs. He patiently accepts her rough 'play' and they can often be found just sitting together, enjoying each other's company. We have had 40 or 50 people on our property on numerous occasions and he takes it all in stride. We have free ranging chickens and a cat that he ignores. He loves car rides and ... (Read More)splashing in water. But, of course, there's a reason he needs a new home. Just recently he nipped the little boy across the street and has acted somewhat aggressive to the boy's brother. Although we think he was just being territorial, these boys are good friends of our children and now they've become afraid of coming over because of Captain. We have to trust our dogs unconditionally. We want friends, family and neighbors to come to our home without any fear. He would make a GREAT pet for any family. He is a really sweet dog. We hate to see him go. But he has to find another home. I hope someone will see this and feel that Captain is the dog for them. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a German Shepherd Mix named Behr. He is about one yr old. He was found with his sibling in an abandoned house by a little boy that lives across from me. His Mom said nay to keeping him so Behr became the resident stray. He was fed scrapes by a few of the residents but he lived outside and was on his own. On April 2nd Behr was hit by a car but no one could or would get him medical care. I tried to keep an eye on him and noticed that after a few days he wasn't moving very much. I let the residents know I was taking Behr because he needed vet care. I've had him about three months now and I've learned a lot about him. I took him to my ... (Read More)vet and he had a fractured femur high up near the socket so a cast was useless. He's doing really good and although his leg is better, if he over does it ( being a pup he does) he may limp a bit. While at the vets he received his first set of puppy shots, rabies vac, Heartworm test (was negative), urine workup (was normal), fecal was clear, nails cut, and blood work that was normal also. In the beginning of May he received his second series of puppy shots and a well deserved(and needed lol) BATH. All that's left is his neutering, when he is well. I do have a certificate for the neutering. I will chip him if I still have him on August 1, 2016. Behr is a GREAT FURBABY. He's about 45lbs. now. He was 39 lbs when I got him. He has a gentle personality, and is very aware and smart. He has learned how to 'play' and he doesn't mind playing by himself and loves belly rubs. He is also house trained and he has learned how to eat from a bowl. Behr loves to sit in the grass and just chill, sometimes seeing and playing with the residence strays that are still out there. He will not go to a home where he would have to stay outside 24/7. He is very social, and loves to be with his human caretaker. He will need exercise and mental stimulation and some basic training so he'll have good manners. Behr learns quick, and has an understanding of our language. He was a bit food aggressive at first, little low growls, towards my dog Princess, (a Shih Tzu) when she got too close to his food, but not at all now. I think he may be a bit timid due to previous circumstances, but he is low key for being a pup. I think he enjoys the relative quiet verses the chaos where he was. He likes to be outdoors, but when in he is content to play with me or by himself. He loves eating ice cubes and tearing up anything that he gets he teeth so on. So far, four pair of flip flops. lol. He is getting better with that. He will need work on a leash. Since he's from the neighborhood he doesn't stray from me when we go walking. I tried a leash put he pulls and I can't really hold him. I'm older and don't want an accident. We walk and although he runs and plays while we walk, he stays close and I have no problems. But he does need basic obedience classes for his safety and well being. I have everything he needs. Bowls, toys, bed, collar and leash, and food. I have a Shitz Tzu and I can only have one animal where I live or I'd keep him, he IS a keeper. I'd like for him to have a family with children is good. A back yard for him to play. I don't want him in a house where all he does is be by himself and in the yard 24/7. He is very social and loves to interact with people. He whimpers sometimes for attention so you have to love dogs and the interactions with them. I wish I could keep him, but I can't and he will be sorely missed. He would be a great addition to any home. (Less)
