Animal ID: SantosSantos (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Santos Is a Sweet Companion Looking for a Special Home 3-year-old, white, large, male, German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Females only Good with children: No Good with cats: No Santos started off in a rough situation as just a young pup. His owner, who purchased him in Germany and brought him to the United States, abused Santos. Such a sad story. He was surrendered to Saving Paws after the owner wanted to euthanize him because he'd created some fear and aggression issues with his abuse. But Santos has come a long way! And he's a very sweet, cuddly boy that will truly enrich the lives of patient and experienced owners. Santos is a ... (Read More)special dog who has had extensive, in-depth training, which has resolved most of his fear and anxiety issues. His owners are getting ready for a new baby in the home and Santos is still very protective, which isn't a great situation for a new baby. Santos does need to go to a home with no children because he is overly protective. This gorgeous boy would be an ideal companion for someone who lives in a quiet home without a lot of visitors and activity, which tend to aggravate Santos and make him feel overly protective. He gets along wonderfully with female dogs, but not so much with males. Santos is housebroken and crate trained and walks well on a leash. He's a very sweet dog that loves to curl up on the sofa with his people. And his favorite hobbies are chasing birds and playing ball. He just loves belly rubs and putting his head in your lap for cuddles. The nearly two years of training have really improved the anxiety and fear he had when he first came to Saving Paws. He's wonderful on a leash, but still wary of strangers. So any potential adopters will need to be willing to work with him when taking him out or having guests in the home. He gets very protective of his home and his owners. He also resource guards, so will need to be fed separately and with some caution. But once he's done eating, he's just fine. If you are an experienced owner with a quiet home and female dog(s), and are interested in giving Santos a spot on your sofa, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application. (Less)

The only reason he is needing to be rehomed is because my other dogs are not tolerating his 'rude behaviour' anymore. He really needs someone who can either get him into professional training or who is a trainer themselves. It'd be best if he was an only dog but if thats not possible, a meet and greet is best. He really is a sweet heart & the biggest love youll ever meet. He just needs an active family and some good training. Animal ID: FelonyFelony (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It would be a Crime Not to Make Felony a Member of Your Family 2-year-old, mostly black, female, Czech Shepherd Good with other dogs: Likely Good with children: Unknown Good with cats: Unknown It's not all in the name, at least not this time. Beautiful, sweet Felony is anything but 'bad.' This stunning girl was turned over to Saving Paws because there was a frail senior citizen living with the family and she jumped on her. Now THAT is a crime, to let this girl go! She didn't even get a chance to show her skills through training and obedience classes. But we are thrilled that Felony will get a second chance with a loving home ... (Read More)that appreciates how smart and beautiful this girl is. She's just a pup at only two years old, but in just a few days, she has picked up several commands and has been conquering the agility equipment at the rescue. She catches on FAST. So we are certain that with some training, this friendly girl will make a fantastic addition to an active family. She seems to do OK with other dogs, but we always recommend meet and greets with other family pets. We don't know whether she's good with children or with cats, but given her young age and high energy level, we'd recommend older children just to make sure they don't get jumped on or knocked over unintentionally. She walks well on a leash and rides in a car, but of course, could benefit from further training. Considering how quickly she picked up on the agility equipment, this girl would likely love any kind of dog sports or activities such as flyball, agility or maybe even dock diving. But the best part about this wonderful girl is her sweet, friendly personality. She loves people and adores affection and ear scratches. This girl was described by one of our volunteers as, 'the complete package.' If you are an active family and would like to give Felony a place in your home, please fill out our%A0 online application %A0to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses.     Looking to rehome our 2 1/2 year old female German Shepherd. Her name is Coco and we have had her since she was 12 weeks old. Fixed and is microchipped. The reason we are looking for a new home is she has become more aggressive towards our children. She has bit our youngest daughter (6) twice and as much as I HATE to have to do this, I think it is time. She did not break skin or cause bleeding. She is great with adults and used to be wonderful with our kids but that's changed unfortunately. She was akc registered as a pup but I did not complete the registration since we were not planning to breed her or anything that would require that. Good with other dogs, not sure about cars. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-10-00131Cinnamon (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cinnamon needs a new home, she is a medium size dog and weighs about 40 pounds. She was my granddaughters boyfriends' dog but has been abused. We took her in approximately 4 months ago. When she first came to us she would cower on her blankets or if she was up would run away until she could get back to her blankets. For the first month I spent lots time just sitting with her - petting her and talking to her. Took her in to our vet and they stated they had never seen a dog with such high anxiety. She is on Fluoxetine HCL (20mg twice per day) - Alprazolam (.5mg 3 times a day - and Zylkene (450mg once per day) and is doing much better and also ... (Read More)has a thunder shirt. She is still very skiddish around strangers but has settled in and plays well with our 2 mini schnauzers - however she and our Lab do not mix well together. We have to keep them separated and take turns letting each have time to run around the house and outside. She will now allow herself to be put in her harness and on leash and is now able to ride in the car with out cowering and shaking. She needs a home without other dogs where she can be given the attention she needs to over come her anxiety issues. She is very loving once she knows you and is also very smart - follows directions well. She knows how to use a doggie door or will use potty pads if unable to go outside. We had planned on having her join our family but with the dislike/tension between her and our lab do not feel this is possible. Want her to have a forever home where she is loved and cared for. She has her own bed and toys that she will take with her. We will also provide the vet's information so her records can be transferred to your vet. She still a a long way to go to completely recover from the abuse but has made hugh strides since we took her in. I believe what she needs is to be in a one dog home with someone that can spend time with just her and work with her anxiety problems. She is well behaved and very loving, knows how to use potty pads if outside is not available. I do not know how she would be with children she knows - at Christmas all she would do was bark at the grandchildren and did not want anything to do with them. Of course I think this could change with the proper attention. We had planned on keeping her but with her anxiety and the tension between her and our lab it seems best if we find her someone that can really spend the time with her and work through her anxiety problems. I would be happy to meet with you or have you visit us to meet her and see if she would be a candidate for your rescue program. She is said to be lab/shepard - so medium size - and weighs about 40 pounds. She is current on all shots. She loves to run and play in the yard. (Less)

He weighs in at 130 lbs. and currently on a weight loss/exercise plan to get to his ideal weight at 100 lbs. He walks well on a leash, does not show aggression towards other animals when walking and knows his basic commands. He is a sweet boy. Jake was originally purchased with the idea of becoming an ... (Read More)elderly ladys service dog. She and her husband were not able to accomplish this goal and are seeking a new home for Jake. They do not have the physical ability to walk Jake, he has been confined to a mobile home with little to no exercise for at least 2 yrs. And along with over-feeding has led to Jakes weight gain and some atrophy of the back leg muscles. He has been seen by a Vet this month, he is up-to-date on his vaccines and had x-rays to check out joints. The findings were slight hip dysplasia and some arthritis. The prognosis is good that with regular exercise and weight loss his muscles will get back to normal. He has had significant progress since he has been walking daily with exercise and socialization. I have been working with Jake since January to provide daily walks and assist the elderly couple while they search to rehome Jake. Jake is a KING SIZE SWEETHEART! I would have taken him myself but my female GSD and him did not get along when we did a meet-n-greet. Jake needs to be the only pet in the home, he does not like cats either. She is very quick to 'get' a routine. %A0She sits before you place her food bowl down, she sits for her treats. %A0%A0She has been around other dogs - male and female. %A0She is learning to play, but with another dog in the house she wants to control the play. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered

Hello, Ryker is a neutered male. He will be 5 years old on March 11th and weighs 110 pounds. Ryker is a very loved, well cared for and well groomed boy. He is current on all his vacs and in excellent health. I can submit vet records if required. Ryker is a very sweet boy. He loves to love and be loved on. He is a velcro dog and just wants to be where you are. He loves to lay on the floor, on your bed or on the couch. He also likes to be used as a pillow and purrs like a cat when he is happy and content. Ryker LOVES to lay on the grass and let the hot sun hit his face and body. Ryker loves to play with his toys and he has his favs. Ryker ... (Read More)is an indoor dog, but goes outside through a doggy door when he wants to bark, sun bathe or go potty. Ryker is fully trained and well behaved. He works very well with a shock collar. He has a lot of energy and gets VERY excited when we come home. Ryker loves to walk, run and swim and will do best with a larger home and a big backyard. Ryker does have some separation anxiety. He does enjoy his crate although we have not used that with him in a very long time. Ryker is very particular with his food. He eats dry food (chicken flavor only. Currently he is on Kirkland Chicken and Brown Rice) with a little water to make a gravy and spoonful of chicken flavored wet food mixed in. If his food is not prepared this way he will refuse to eat. I spend $800.00 at the vet and testing just to find out he is a picky eater. Also a lot of time, energy and money on different foods and ways to prepare it for my K-9 Master:) Ryker gets along well with other dogs, but not cats. He does well with children of all ages, but not anyone with special needs. Ryker becomes overly protective, but will not hurt them. He runs around them in circles, whines and licks them obsessively. I have a nephew who is hearing impaired and he sleeps over some times. Ryker lays at the door and whines and cries all night. He doesn't sleep or eat while my nephew is over. The reason for needing to surrender my sweet boy is because I have been separated for almost two years. My husband decided 9 months ago that he did not want to work anymore. My financial situation is grim and my kids and I will be moving in with my friend and sharing one room. Ryker just cannot be in that situation. I have attached 3 pics of Ryker. They are all of him sleeping, but that is all I had in my phone. He sleeps so cute sometimes and I just happened to snap these pics of him. If you would like, I can certainly provide better pics for you. (Less)

Sweet, Gentle Bear Needs a Home to Call His Own 6.5-year-old, male, large, German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Yes Good with children: Yes Good with cats: Yes Sweet Bear needs a place to spread out and hang out with his people. He's been cooped up in small apartment, which is tough on a German Shepherd, even a mellow guy like Bear. His previous owners tell us that Bear is a super sweet guy who just wants to be loved. The best part is he's already housebroken, walks on a leash and is fine when left alone in the house. He's not destructive, not a barker or chewer, just a handsome, sweet boy who really loves attention. His owners tell ... (Read More)us that Bear is good with children, as he currently lives with them. He also is OK with cats and other dogs. He does have some arthritis in his hips, so they are a little sensitive and he does take daily, low-cost medication. Bear would do best in a home with a yard where he has room to roam, but is treated as a member of the family and gets to sleep and hang out with his people indoors. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Vaider Is Ready for his own Loving Family 8-year-old, male, medium, black and tan, German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Yes Good with children: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Vaider and his brother Koda were purchased initially from a backyard breeder. Then they were left outside all the time. These guys are very sweet, but certainly deserve to be treated better. Our volunteer worked for months to convince the owners that they deserved a better life and Saving Paws is determined to find a wonderful, loving, indoor home for these guys. These two have lived together all their lives. But we think there is a chance they can be separated. They ... (Read More)may need the company of another pet, however, since they aren't used to being alone. Vaider is very sweet and loves people. He seems to be the submissive dog of the two brothers. These two haven't had any real training yet, so volunteers are working on their leash manners. But they are very smart and we know that with positive training and patience, they'll be wonderful companions. They lived in a home with children before, so they are very used to kids and enjoy their company. We don't know about cats at this time. They seem to do OK with other dogs, but a meet and greet with any existing furry friends is suggested. If you can give Vaider a home and show him what the good life is all about, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-17-00505Lydia (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lydia is a friendly, social ~ 1 year old German Shepard mix. She was adopted from the shelter in the hopes of becoming a service dog for her elderly adopter. Unfortunately, once home it became clear that Lydia was too hyper for this as she becomes very mouthy when excited (she is a young pup that would do well with training). After being returned to the shelter, she was placed on the euthanasia list when Bridge pulled her into the rescue. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-17-00422MAJOR (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Major arrived at Home Fur Good from the county shelter in late December, and now that he has been at the shelter for some time, his personality and preferences have started to come out. He is two years old and he not only ranks in size--60 pounds--but also in heart. County had him listed as a Shepherd and Chow Chow mix; however, everyone he meets asks if he is a Swiss Mountain Dog. Major does know the cue to sit, and he also gives his full attention to his humans for direction. However, his attention span can be short-lived and he will start to jump to get your affection. Major will need an assertive and consistent owner, so that he ... (Read More)always exhibits his good-dog behaviors; maybe a little obedience training would be a fun outing to do together. Major is dog friendly, but he will thrive as the only dog in his household. He is good with kids, and older kids would be best, so that when his puppy energy comes out they can handle him and will understand that he is looking for direction. With a little time and patience, Major will make an award-winning companion. The adoption fee is $200 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit with our vet. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm, and Mondays by appointment, and we are located at 10220 N. 32nd Street (just south of Shea Blvd.) in Phoenix.     Betty White, the German Shepherd Version, Is Loving Life 6-7-year-old female, black and blonde, German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Yes Good with children: Unknown Good with cats: Unknown Just like the actress Betty White, our German Shepherd version is as gorgeous as they come. But the similarities don't stop there. Just like Hollywood's Betty White, ours is full of surprises too! Poor Betty was found laying near a busy freeway outside of Phoenix and was assumed deceased. (Read More)of love and attention, we expect Betty to make a complete recovery and be ready for her forever home. The vet estimates Betty is about six years old or so and so far, she appears to be very sweet girl. She just loves people and seems to get along fine with other dogs that are well mannered. Betty likely lived on the streets for a while and is very underweight. But at Saving Paws, we love nothing more than getting these dogs healthy again with some good quality food to get her healthy and strong. We'd love for Betty to have her own Hollywood happy ending by getting her own forever family.     Nettie's Sweet Spirit Shines Through 6-7-year old, large, blonde, female, German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Selective Good with children: Unknown Good with cats: Unknown Nettie, through no fault of her own, recently came back to the rescue and her adopter was absolutely heartbroken, as were all the volunteers who fell in love with this girl. Unfortunately, her adoptive family had a medical emergency out of the country with no estimated time of return. Poor Nettie was settling in so nicely at her home. But, she's in good spirits now after lots of love from our volunteers, who just adore this beautiful, sweet girl. She is an ... (Read More)incredibly easy dog if you're looking for a lower-energy, easy-going, but affectionate companion. Nettie is so sweet and just wants to be with her people. She absolutely loves affection and will cuddle with you, but also lays down nicely in her dog bed for naps. She walks well on a leash, but does react a bit to other dogs, although we think that could be easily corrected with training. She is selective in choosing her doggie companions, so we suggest a meet-and-greet with any potential adopters' dogs. Nettie is also very quiet, not a big barker. She adapts quickly to being a very happy house dog. She's not bothered at all by loud noise and is generally a very easy-going girl. She would be an ideal companion for a calm family or even a single adult. We don't know whether she's good with children or not, but it's likely she'd be fine with respectful children given her sweet nature. This girl does have some skin issues that we're working on. She has been scratching and chewing, and we're working hard to get her skin back to a beautiful, healthy state. She has a bit of weakness in her back leg, but is doing very well and gets around just fine. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Special Needs: Khaleesi the Snuggle Bug 2-year-old, female, vision-impaired, black and tan German Shepherd Good with other dogs: Larger dogs, upon proper introduction Good with children: unknown Good with cats: Unknown This beautiful girl was turned into the Apache Junction shelter as a stray and they contacted Saving Paws right away when staff members realized she was likely vision impaired. This girl is very sweet with people and loves hugs and snuggles. Because of her vision impairment - she is blind in one eye, but the other eye is fine - she does tend to react to people and dogs that approach her kennel. But once she realizes there ... (Read More)is no danger, she cuddles right up to you and just loves belly rubs and lots of affection. And she just loves to ride in the front seat of the car, which is adorable! The vet feels that with her vision impairment being caused by a birth defect, she may be a little slower to react as well. She seems to get along with other dogs upon proper introduction, but is a bit selective, so a meet and greet is a must for any potential adopter. Khaleesi is a strong girl that hasn't had much training in her life, so she'll need a patient, but strong handler who is willing to teach her how to be a proper young lady.     Hi, my name is Basil. Me and my siblings were rescued from the shelter in Wilcox where we had spent more then half of our lives locked up. I'm a little timid around strangers but I have never tried to bite anyone. I like other dogs as long as they dont pick on me and im pretty sure i like cats. I'm still still learning my manners but I'm super smart and want nothing more then to please. I'm looking for a patient family who will see past my shyness, like my foster mom did, and see my potential.

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Goldie is a 3 year old Shepherd mix looking for a special forever home. She weighs 32 lbs fully grown. Not too big and not too little..perfect size! Goldie came to us from another rescue who originally rescued her from the county shelter with puppies. She came to us after the rescue had their dogs living outside in the summer. We aren't sure of Goldie's history, but it obviously wasn't that great. Based on her untrustworthy behavior we wouldn't want to talk about if we knew. Goldie has been in a foster home since she came to us, where we slowly learned about this sweet but submissive girl. Goldie is a very shy, submissive, but loving girl. ... (Read More)Goldie's untrustworthy behavior breaks our hearts. She is eager and will follow you around the house but prefers to be invisible. She will find a comfy spot near you just so she's not alone. Goldie needs a patient family that will give her the time she needs to come around. Unfortunately, we don't think she will ever be the normal dog that comes running up on the couch next to you, or give you a big wet sloppy kiss when you least expect it. However, Goldie is very sweet once she knows you, yet keeps a little distance. She is not aggressive in any way. She is excellent with other dogs of any size, fully house broken with or without a dog door, and is so forgiving. Goldie loves food and loves other dogs.. this is the key to getting her socialized with new people :) She is even good with cats! Goldie's perfect home would be with a family (no young kids) that is really wanting to RESCUE a dog. A home with another dog or dog(s) that would like her and play with her and snuggle with her. A home with a dog door and a secure yard. A home with patient hands and love and treats! She travels in the car in a kennel (very nervous!), and is not leash trained, she prefers to stay home :P This special girl deserves a special home! Goldie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, chipped, licensed, vet checked, comes with 30 days of free pet insurance, and comes with a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $180. To meet her, contact her foster mom Alicia at FosterVarrone@gmail.com. For any questions, feel free to give us a call 602-944-2440 (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Trinity is an almost 2 year old German Shepherd mix female, spayed dog that had completed most of the training to be a service dog. Unfortunately, the training had abruptly stopped when I had my baby six months ago. She is a very loving dog and absolutely loves one-on-one attention. I feel I cannot give her the attention that she used to get prior to having my baby. She used to go out into public with me at least once a week or more. She is very food-driven, to the point that she needs to be fed alone, away from other dogs. She lives with three cats, but may chase them if not corrected. She has never hurt any of the cats as she looks at ... (Read More)them more like a game then a threat. Trinity is an alpha dog. Trinity would be best if with another beta dog or no dogs at all. Trinity is also raised around kids, both my baby and my other two school-aged kids. She really enjoys kids as she gets all excited and wags her tail like crazy. She does really well with all kids, even stranger kids. Trinity can be reserved when it comes to strangers. She did not pass her public access test due to curling her lip when a 'stranger' went to pet her without her first getting to know the stranger. Trinity needs to be with an experienced owner/handler to be able to deal with such german shepherd stubbornness. Trinity currently stays outside during the day while I am away at work with a large pool of water and plenty of shade. She does not dig and she loves the compressed bones to chew on. At night, Trinity comes in and sleeps in her crate. She is also fed in her crate at night time, away from my other dog. Trinity is housebroken and can be left in the home without being crated. I just don't want her to chase my cats while I am sleeping. She weighs probably around 60-70 lbs, is up to date with her vaccines. She is registered with Maricopa County. I have all documentation to include the training she has been through and vaccines. Trinity needs to be with a family that can spend more time with her and not just stick her outside and forget about her. She loves treats and compressed bones and is a great listener when commands are consistent. (Less)

My name is Tetsu and I am a 3 year old Shepherd/Cattledog mutt, only 25lbs but I look way bigger in person! For a long time it's been just me and my person, Kelly. I was brought home at 8 weeks old, and by the time I was 4 months old I had already had a bad experience with one of my owner's ex boyfriends. This has made my experience with men sometimes difficult. After that, I became the 'baby' of the house. Mom was ill prepared for all of my energetic needs, and without boundaries and lots of exercise, I became a big handful. If I am home alone too long I don't exercise restraint with the water dish and I have trouble holding my bladder. ... (Read More)I get some separation anxiety, and my pent up energy causes me to chew chew chew! I am especially fond of lady things. I am possessive! This leads to me being standoffish if I am told to do something I don't want, and if someone is taking mom's time, I often attempt to force my way in. Now the good news! I am SOO very much better with enough exercise. Last year, mom quit her second job and I was able to get out into the mountains 4-5 times a week! What a difference! Nowadays, we simply don't get out enough, mom has had to take her second job back, but I can be a good boy! I am very eager to learn if you just give me the chance. Unfortunately, I am also high risk. I have issues with other dogs, stemming from an experience where I picked a fight with another dog, and for a while there it was only male un-neutered dogs, but the problem has grown to the point where I am a risk at the dog park with a lot dogs bigger than me, and occasionally a small one too. This makes it really hard to get to the dog park to get the exercise I need during the week. Mom has tried to work with me, but I am very defiant when I'm full of energy, and have a lot of ground to work on, and Mom feels like she just can't get it done the way I need. I am food motivated! During Training I know 'Sit', 'Down', 'Stay' (this one is hard!), 'drop', and we are working on 'Heel'. I swear, I want to learn. Sometimes, Mom's new boyfriend takes me for a day, and with strict limits and high output, I show my 'awesome dog' potential. Unfortunately, we can't do this every day. Tetsu is a smart dog with a lot to give. In return, he needs a strong direction and patient hand to help get him back on track and into an active environment where he can stretch his legs on a regular basis. Unless there is a very successful meet and greet, he should go to a home with no other dogs, and he is not small kid safe until his issues are worked out. If given the right training, he will make someone a long lasting friend with lots of love. He is neutered but his vaccinations are not currently up to date. I do plan to have those completed before he is rehomed. I am asking a $30 rehoming fee for him. He would also come with a kennel, toys, and food. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-08-00471LILLITH (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lillith is a 35-pound German Shepherd mix who originally came to Home Fur Good from the county shelter. During her stay at HFG she was a bundle of energy, and the staff and volunteers worked with her to exercise her mind. She showed her intelligence by quickly learning the cue to sit. This one-year-old pup was adopted back in October. Although Lillith has returned, insight has been gained into what would be her best possible home. She did graduate from Basic Obedience School; she knows the basic commands. Her adoptive family had a nine-year-old daughter whom Lillith treated like a littermate, chewing on her hands and tugging on her ... (Read More)clothes. So if there are children, she needs a home with older, more assertive children. For the past few months, she has had free range in her home and she slept nights in bed with the parents. If you are looking for an independent and intelligent young lady, please come on down and meet Lillith. We offer a low-cost vaccine clinic on Sundays from 11:00 am-2:30 pm, and a low-cost dental clinic on Wednesdays by appointment. Visit our website at www.homefurgood.org for more information. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

**COURTESY POSTING** Sandy is an approximately 8 year old medium sized, mixed breed dog. Possibly shepherd/lab mix. She has had a very rough life. Sandy was on her own in the desert for a long time, having multiple litters of puppies. She was so terrified of humans though that it took a year to catch her. Finally one hot summer day, she gave up and walked right into a kennel. After an exam, it was found that Sandy was pregnant again, severely malnourished, and had heartworm. After having her puppies, she was treated for heartworm and her true personality came out. Her foster mom noticed that she was starting to limp one day so she went to ... (Read More)the vet. After an Xray is showed Sandy has a bullet in one of her legs. Part of it was removed but she still has some fragments in her rear leg. This doesn't slow her down though! She has an amazing amount of trust towards humans after everything she has gone through. She loves to relax inside and play with other dogs. She has moments when she jumps around acting like a puppy but is the low maintenance of a senior dog. Sandy would love to go to a home with another dog and a home that would give her the attention and love she has needed her entire life. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=10259871 (Less)

This 3 year handsome boy was saved from the AZ Humane Society's euthanasia list after a long battle with deep dermatitis. He was in horrid shape when he was first rescued. His body was covered in a thick crust on his head, neck and abdomen, and consequently Noodle endured many months of peroxide baths. It's not surprising that he escaped with a few battle wounds, but he has come such a long way! His coat is almost entirely filled in. This 42 lb boy is as quirky and lovable as they come! Noodle is not good with cats or small dogs, but might be OK with another larger dog in his forever home. He's still a bit anxious from time to time due to ... (Read More)his past, so the hustle and bustle of a busy house with small children is not really his style. We feel he would do best as either a single dog, or with elementary school aged children and possibly one other larger dog, in a routine environment. It can sometimes take a little for Noodle to trust new people, but he is a loving pup that enjoys lying on your lap and is an absolute ham for attention. He is innately very sweet. Noodle is active and enjoys life! He likes to stretch his legs regularly, either in a yard or on a long walks, hiking, and even jogging next to a bicycle. But, he is not quite ready for a dog park. He also loves to sunbathe, pounce in baby pools, watch TV, and soak up the breeze on a car ride. He will sit, come, and shake like a champ for a treat, and is currently working on lying down. Noodle likes to feel safe and always enjoys a good hug, especially during rainstorms. He will give kisses on command with his spotty tongue and greet you joyfully when you come home, often with ear nibbles. He is both kennel and doggie-door trained. It's time for Noodle to go a forever home that will continue to spoil him with couch time and love. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-17-00468Nova (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our beautiful Nova is still looking for her furever home! Nova has been with the rescue for many months - since we rescued her from MCACC West here in Phoenix. Nova is only about 3 years old. She is a true velcro dog - and definitely a one person gal. She fixates on her person - she would love to have someone of her own to focus on. She especially likes women! Nova may take a little time to warm up to her person, but when she does that's it! Nova is fine with other dogs - she's part of the rescue house pack. She can get a little protective of her person with other dogs. Nova is very athletic and can jump pretty high. She is not crate ... (Read More)trained, but she does know her bed and can be given a command to go to her bed. She is housebroken. She enjoys toys, and can amuse herself with them. She's a pretty easy girl - and medium energy. She would do best in a home were someone is home a lot and can give her the attention she craves. She will need some practice on her leash skills. We would really love to see Nova get the home she is looking for. If you think you can open your home and heart to this deserving girl, please fill out our online application to get the approval process started. As always, if you are interested in a Saving Paws dog, you must fill out our online application to get the approval process started. We will only schedule meet & greets with an approved application! Rescue Me ID: 15-06-11-00827Oscar (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We rescued Oscar back in Nov 2014 from MCACC West. Of course we post him from time to time, just to keep people posted on his progress, but we do think it is time for Oscar to have his OWN home. Oscar is a special needs dog. Saving dogs like him is what we DO, and we NEVER regret it. He is about 6 years old. OMG does he LOVE the ball - LOVE THE BALL. Oscar gets along well with other dogs, and enjoys people. He is kennel trained, potty trained, and is a MASSIVE toy hoarder. Oscar is a great dog, but he seems to have some neuro damage. He HATES to be petted on the head. We think maybe his horrible untreated ear infections caused this. He's not ... (Read More)a cuddle-dog. But he is a GOOD dog, and he needs a special home that will understand his needs. We like this guy, and its time for him to GO HOME with someone. Are YOU the someone? If so - please fill out our online application to get the approval process started, we won't schedule meet and greets without an approved app on file. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-18-00192Lobos (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lobos is a 3 year old German Shepherd Mix who is very energetic and has a lot of love to give. We caught Lobos before he was turned in to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. He was absolutely terrified and his owner was dragging him in on a rope. For an hour, he hid behind Casey, owner of SAIL Rescue, and tried to crawl into her lap the whole time she drove him home. It took a long time to get Lobos (his original name) to come out of his shell and come out of his shell he did! He is a typical German Shepherd and needs constant exercise and a firm hand. He is not a typical GSD in the fact that he LOVES other dogs. Small dogs are his ... (Read More)favorite! He is good friends with our little terrier Whiskey and they LOVE to play! He loves playing fetch, anything he can find, he'll fetch it for you! Lobos must be homed with an experienced handler and needs some extended training with someone familiar with the breed. He does NOT like being told what to do, so dedication, repetition and a firm hand are key. Lobos is potty trained, crate trained, prong collar trained and walks well on a leash. He loves to cuddle and would do best in a home with no children until he receives more training. Lobos is neutered, current on Rabies, 4-1 and Bordatella vaccines and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $100. (Less)
