German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am Jackson and I was born in 2009. They think I am mostly Shepard but maybe I have a little bit of Chow in me (I have some black on my tongue!). I have been told that I'm a very HANDSOME boy - I have beautiful luxurious black fur with white on my neck and a white tuxedo front. Very SPIFFY-LOOKING! You can see in my picture that I am very attentive; I smiled at the camera to let you know that I have a LOTS OF PERSONALITY! I have very good manners, LOVE to play with other dogs and all people, am good with cats and am HOUSE AND CRATE-TRAINED and walk very nicely on a leash. Plus, they say I am VERY SWEET and LOVING.They say I am a ... (Read More)very calm and comfortable kind of guy. But....even though I am smiling on the outside, on the inside , I feel so lost......again. I am safe, very well taken care of, and am loved by the nice people at the Humane Society ....but I lost my home and my Dad,a man I thought I could trust with my life and who was going to be my forever friend. Let me begin back when I was just a sweet little puppy boy. I was abandoned - that's the polite word - by some people who didn't want to bother with me - they just DUMPED me like I didn't matter at all. There weren't any houses or people around - I was on a rural mountain and very few cars came by.....I was so scared, cold, hungry and thirsty. I figured that if no one saw me - I would die. So, when I saw any cars - I would come out, hoping they would pick me up. Sadly, one of those cars hit me and my little body was dragged under the car. I was hurt very badly..I don't remember who found me but when I woke up, the nice Humane Society people were so gently caring for me. The Vet said that without a very expensive operation, they would have to amputate my leg. But the nice Humane Society people thought I was a very special little boy, and they raised the money to pay for my operation. They saved my leg and they let me know that I was loved and special to them....no one ever made me feel that way before. It took awhile, but with my operation, special care, and lots of love and attention....I was healed and healthy!!!! They told me that there were lots of nice people in the world, just like them, and that they were going to find someone who would love and care for me forever - a family for Jackson!!!! I was so excited!!! That special person came looking for a 'forever friend' - and he found me!!! We were so happy together - me, my Dad and one other dog who I loved. We had a great life... running, playing, sleeping together, riding in his car, we were best buddies!!! One day he brought a lady to the house.....I welcomed her as I do everyone.. My Dad really liked her but I could tell she didn't like me.. After a while, as he liked her more - she liked me even less. But I was such a good boy, I don't understand why she couldn't like me. Anyway, my Dad decided that he wanted to marry her. I was happy for him and thought that, once we were a family, she would love me. But no - she told my Dad that he had to 'get rid of me' because she didn't like me. I couldn't believe my ears....and what I couldn't believe was that, after three loving wonderful years together, my Dad was willing to give me up. What happened to US?? What happened to the loving companionship we had??? What happened to the quiet times we had together, just snuggling??? He was willing to just forget about our time together for this lady. She got her way and he took me back to the Humane Society... after three years of love and dedication. So here I am ...AGAIN....hoping that there is someone, somewhere in the world who will love me and keep the commitment to love and care for me for the rest of my life. A commitment is a promise..... the nice Humane Society people tell me that most people are very loving to their fur friends and that they become a part of their family. I know that I kept MY commitment to my Dad as I was a faithful and loving companion to him. I was always ready to welcome him with a wagging tail, lots of kisses, adoring eyes and was ready to go anywhere with him. Are you the kind of person who takes a commitment seriously? A person with lots of love but maybe with an empty spot in your heart, life, and family that only a beautiful black and white fur friend can fill????? I am Jackson, and I know that I am a special boy - because the nice Humane Society people tell me that every day - who will add so much love and joy to someone's family and make them very, very happy'|.FUREVER. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

My name is Jasmine. How do you spell 'grateful?' You spell it J-A-S-M-I-N-E ... that's me, JASMINE! I think I am the happiest, most grateful sweet girl you have ever met. I am a gorgeous strawberry blonde SHEPHERD-STAFFORDSHIRE terrier mix with a little white on my chest, a black muzzle, ears and eyeliner(!) and the most soulful brown eyes you have ever seen! I think I was born sometime in 2008. I was very, very sick and the wonderful Humane Society people rescued and loved me back to health. My best friend in the world, Juno ( Staffordshire mix, born in 2008) and I were all alone in the world. We were abandoned way out in the country, ... (Read More)lost with no hope of finding food, water, shelter or anyone to help us. We were so sick and malnourished that our immune systems were unable to fight off parasites that are normally natural and harmless in dogs. We had HUGE open wounds all over our bodies; they were so itchy that we scratched all of the time and this made everything even worse....many of our wounds were from the constant scratching. It hurt so much. We had lost a lot of our pretty fur and keeping warm became even more difficult. Our sores then got infected and the sores were so deep and raw... we were dying a very, very, slow, painful death of starvation, exposure and disease. One day we saw a white van and it slowed down and the man tried to coax us to come to him with some food. We were so afraid that we ran and hid...but he left us some food. The next day the man came back...we were still too afraid but he left us food again. He came back the third day and, again, tried to coax us to come to him. This time, so overwhelmed with hunger, we let him put us into his van. We didn't know he was from the Humane Society and that he was rescuing us...but we did feel relieved that we were now being cared for. We were so grateful that he was so patient and willing to keep coming back until he could rescue us... that's what the wonderful people at the shelter are like - loving, patient, and determined to rescue animals that need help. We were so relieved to be warm, dry, fed, and safe. They took us to the vets and they gave us lots of medicine. They kept us in their office where we had warm beds with soft blankets; it was so warm and clean and they talked to us all of the time. We had food every day, TREATS, and the itching gradually stopped and our wounds were lovingly cared for. We are now healing beautifully! We LOVE being cared for at the shelter.....people are so nice to us and they are so gentle and kind..... we didn't know that people could be like this! Our deep wounds have healed, our fur has grown back and we are healthy now. I never knew you could feel this good both on the inside and the outside! I heard them say that we are both ready for our forever loving homes with a family now. I don't know what a 'forever home' is nor what a 'family' is. I do know that having a warm, dry, bed inside is wonderful, a full tummy is so special, not itching is such a relief and people taking me for walks and loving on me is just... just.... just almost too much to believe. They say I LOVE ATTENTION AND AM SO FRIENDLY. I am calm, I walk nicely on a leash and will make a wonderful fur friend. I need time to warm up to strangers as I need reassurance that they will be my friend. I just know that I am such a happy, grateful sweet girl that loves everyone. They say I will do best with kids over 12 yrs of age. So, now you know how to spell 'grateful' - it is me, Jasmine. Healthy and happy and ready for my new forever family and home! I can't imagine that life can be any better than it is now but they say that when you come to get me and take me home....I will be in doggy heaven. Wow - me - Jasmine - will be in 'doggie heaven' at your house!! (Less)
