German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

MILEY is a 3 year old female German Shepherd mix that has had a rough stretch. She was surrendered to a shelter after she got hit by a car and lost her tail. Then she was discovered to be 'in the family way' and even lost some of her puppies. She was adopted but has been having issues with other dogs in and outside the home (intact young female in home), reactivity with strangers (men), transitions in and out of the house and some recurring nerve pain in her tail. Positives are that she is a big baby, full of love. She does great with children and her 'mom and dad'. Miley also loves to play ball and has learned how to walk nicely on ... (Read More)leash. She is now on Prozac and that is helping with the tail issues. Miley is spayed, current on shots, chipped and heartworm negative. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Hi friends, my name is Buddy! Just look at me in my shiny black dog coat w my bandana cape combo. I look like 'Super Buddy' and that is what I am. I love people and am respectful with other dogs but of course I do best with other dogs who want to play, run and wrestle. I am a Shepherd Labrador blend weighing approx 50lbs. I am a year old and I really aim to please my people and would do great in obedience training, hiking, swimming, fetch, you name it and I will love it. I just want to be with my people. I would do best with older kids as I still jump up a little and don't want to knock any lil person down. I am a happy and enthusiastic guy ... (Read More)and can't wait to meet my forever family! Rescue Me ID: 15-03-22-00163Farley (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their temperaments, intelligence and extremely loving ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and be very loving with family members and other family pets. Since this breed mix requires a certain amount of exercise and love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their ... (Read More)favorite humans and canines. Farley is a beautiful and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Shepherd while taking on the very engaging qualities of the Golden. He will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and cottony-soft. As Farley loses the old coat of his shelter days (as he's given the gift of a great diet), his coat will grow in shining (with his beautiful markings) and less likely for lots of shedding. Farley's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Farley's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his body ending in a smile. And if a place is available next to a favorite family member, up Farley goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Farley is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. He's just a puppy at only 5 - 6 months old (he currently weighs 33 lbs - the vets anticipate his adult weight to be approximately 50 lbs) but seems to have more wisdom than most puppies. He's so kind and wants to be the very best-behaved guy around. With the help of group obedience classes with his family creating kind boundaries, Farley will acquire the skills to be an excellent companion out in the community and in the home. Farley tends to be a bit more introspective than most puppies. He seems to have left behind the lack of love and commitment that made up his early life and is ready to love with all his heart. His time spent in a high-kill shelter with -Euthanasia Pending- on his cage didn't deprive Farley of his hope that someday a special family would choose him. He was being put to sleep because he had baby dermatitis due to fleas and filth...but in the end, his great temperament prevailed...and through the repeated efforts of Texas rescuers, Farley earned his ticket to Colorado. Since leaving the shelter, Farley has become a very huggable ball of good-will with downy hair replacing the bald spots he used to have. We would like to see Farley in a home that includes him in time and activities...he will thrive with those that truly loves him and consider him a very important part of the family. Farley would be an exceptional companion for retirees or families with older kids (no tail-pulling or riding on please) who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable and kind guy. Long hikes and backyard fun would truly speak to the nature of this amazing pup. Farley doesn't require another dog to be happy (he really loves his people)...but does enjoy his canine relationships with fun and gentle dogs. Farley will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and endearing companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-28-00185Carson (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Mange (Demodectic)

Well it is amazing what love, a great vet, and some good food will do. In a few short weeks Carson has gone from not being able to stand for more than a few minutes to running, jumping and playing. His body has filled out and his hair is sprigging back. He is a lovable guy who would enjoy an active person or family. He has done well with kids as old as 6 and up, is starting to learn to play with other nice non bossy dogs and toys. He is finally beginning to enjoy his life. Carson walks well on a leash as he is very treat motivated. He will learn fast. He can already sit for a treat but doesn't want to put his cold hiney on the floor quite ... (Read More)yet, so he hovers. He is crate trained, potty trained weighs 35 lbs and is neutered, vaccinated and HW neg. Carson is between 9 months and 1 year old so still has his puppy side. He is very playful and eager to please and is an easy guy to have around. He does not chew inappropriately or bark, and behaves well. He just needs a loving person/family and a few more weeks to look like a real dog. Carson is believed to be a Lab/shep mix, but that's our best guess till all his hair comes in. This dog is located in San Antonio, Texas, but is ready to fly to a new home with an approved adopter. Please apply to adopt at: http://caretx.org/forms/ The $550 adoption fee* covers spay/neuter, age vaccinations, micro-chip, air transport and kennel.
