This is a beautiful boy and super sweet. He walks great on a leash - he is very light on his feet and sometimes gets happy feet - he likes it here in Colorado. He is also very good in the car. Our rescue attended the mill with money that was raised by our supporters and fans in order to purchase Eastra and get her out of the mill system where she likely would have lived her life in a small feces ... (Read More)covered cage, only interacting with people when they moved her from one cage to another when it came time to breed her, heat cycle after heat cycle to produce make puppies to sell to pet stores and over the internet. Before coming to rescue, Eastra had never felt grass, been in a house, played with other dogs, or known what it felt like to be petted. She is a bit shy in new situations and needs a calm home that can allow her to come out of her shell at her own pace. Eastra is good with men and women, though it takes her a few days to learn you are 'her person' and then she will follow you everywhere. Children scare her and she tries to get as far from them as possible so no kids please. She is good with all dogs and while she seems interested in cats, she only follows them if they run so a layed back cat or one that will stand up for itself she probably will do fine with. Eastra is still working on potty training and not going potty in her crate but is slowly improving. Being from a mill it was normal for her to potty where she slept so we need to retrain her that she has other options than living in her own mess. Eastra is slowly learning to walk on a leash but is spooked easily so no apartment where this would be the only way she could relieve herself. She ideally needs 6 foot fencing as she has attempted to get over baby gates an we worry that if she got nervous she could get over shorter fencing. Eastra's adoption fee is $375.00 which includes her spay, microchip, deworming, distemper and rabies vaccinations and an in home private training session to be completed with the adopter. German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
