Animal ID: 2017-130 CochiseCOCHISE (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

COCHISE is a 3 year old German Shepherd looking for a fresh start. He got kicked out of his rental when he and the Chihuahua next door had a row. The Chi needed a few stitches, but is otherwise OK. Cochise obviously needs some help with impulse control and a home that understands the breed and the drive that comes with it. He goes spastic around small dogs, cats and critters in general. Cochise is neutered, chipped and current on shots. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

If you are looking for turn-key, TROOPER is the one for you. This handsome boy is a 5 year old German Shepherd/Lab mix. The first time I saw him he preferred to give me a play bow and some lovin' instead of going for the gigantic biscuit I had in my hand. In addition to his impeccable manners, Trooper is great on leash and knows his basic commands. He is neutered, chipped and up to date on shots. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-14-00155Only FAITH remains.. (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

....how come I was abandoned out in the field to fend for myself ... am I really that undeserving of happiness and love.... I promise to be a good girl if you would just give me the chance to prove it to you.... I am a senior girl who finds herself in a loud and busy shelter. They are very nice to me here but I am lonely. I am very sad to see my cellmates come and go and people just keep walking by me. Why? Please tell me why? I love people and love to be around my doggie friends. I was told I have very soulful eyes and a beautiful face. When I go to sleep on the concrete floor at night, I have a dream.....a dream of walking ... (Read More)around a nice green yard with my new mommy and daddy and I have a big smile on my face because I am happy....and loved!!! I dream of living in a house with my mommy and daddy and they hug me and pet me ...and I lick their hands because I am so grateful and so happy. And at night I sleep on my own soft doggy bed right next to their bed and I smile as I fall asleep.... I am happy and finally home.... But then when I wake up in my concrete cell at the shelter, I realize this was just a dream... and I am very sad. Tell me, can't dreams come true???? Will you make my dream come true? My name is LOTUS and am an approx. 10-11 yr old 68 lbs black German Shepherd mix. They say I have a couple of lumps and bumps and my vision is not the best anymore, but that comes with age... I will love you unconditionally if you just give me the chance to prove it to you. Because of my senior age, I would prefer going into a home with children or grandchildren over 10. Smaller kids may be too much activity for my me. ***THIS IS COURTESY POSTING ONLY. LOTUS IS IN A SHELTER OUTSIDE OF DENVER AND NOT IN CARBONDALE, CO.*** (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-13-00401Lydia (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Lydia is a 1 year old, female, Shepherd mix. She is a dog friendly girl but very timid in nature. She would benefit from a home with another male/female dog that is confident and outgoing to teach her to trust. While she is skittish, she is non-aggressive, however, a home without young children is likely best for her. She's located in Windsor. Adoption fee is $300.

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-07-00420Dixie aka Saleen (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you have any questions about fostering or adopting Dixie nka Saleen please contact 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue and Boarding directly at and adopt@4p4l.org. ) Saleen came to us when she was 4 1/2 months old. We are unsure of what her situation was before she came to us but it seems that she had a hard time and was probably hit at some point as she is skittish and defensive if approached in an angry manner. Saleen has been with our family for 7 months. ) ) Personality: ) ) Saleen loves everyone! She is surprisingly strong for her size and hasn't learned the art of being gentle so its hard for her to play with young children, but she does love ... (Read More)them. She greats you with not only a wagging tail but her whole body wags, we call it the whole butt wag, it's so adorable. She is very active and energetic and loves a good walk or playing fetch to get some energy out so she can settle down for bedtime. She heals well while walking but needs a gentle leader so she doesn't pull or chase small animals like rabbits. Walks are one of her favorite things to do as well as Frisbee. She also loves water outdoors and has an amazing time with sprinklers or hoses. She digs a bit if not entertained while outside for longer periods of time. ) ) She loves to give kisses and is affectionate when she settles down for the night. She is always right next to me when we go to sleep and is eager to stay connected with her head resting on me. She has been to puppy obedience school and is very good at sit, stay, leave it, heal, down, shake, and off. She is crate trained and loves to have her own bedroom. She is also trained with an invisible fence as she is able to jump or climb a fence under 6 feet. She is amazingly agile and she leaps like a gazelle. It is really cute but this makes getting things on the counters or tables pretty easy for her. As long as there isn't something too enticing too close to the edge she leaves it alone. She loves to chew so we keep a constant supply of bones and entertaining toys for her, although soft toys don't have a chance. She does like socks, but thankfully she never eats them and she will bring them back and leave them when asked to. She loves treats and carrots but her favorite is apple slices. ) ) Saleen does not like other dogs and is fairly well behaved while out running errands or walking as long as another dog does not approach her. A good privacy fence is needed so she is not taunted by other dogs, and small animals all the time. She is on guard, does not behave well, and can be aggressive with dogs in neighboring yards when she can see them and they come close to the fence line. She is great protector and will alert you to any people or animals that are on your property. She is also a bit of a hunter and will kill small animals like birds and snakes if they are in the yard. ) ) I have no doubt that Saleen will be a loyal and great companion with the right family and situatio DATE DOG IS COMING TO 1st EVENT (All dogs are available for online adoption now.     Hi, My name is Rusty and I am a 120lb German Shepherd/Malamute Mix. I am about 5 years old and will not get any bigger. I am a big lover, but I am not a dog for the novice owner. I do okay with most dogs under careful supervision. I am a very dominant male. I know my size, and I can hold my own. I am extremely smart, and would do very well for any sort of additional training.     Bowser is incredibly smart, sweet, and VERY high energy. He has torn almost everything I own to pieces though. I love him, but he simply needs someone with more time and energy than I can provide. It is necessary that he goes to a good home, so I will need a quick description of the family environment, as well as a picture or two of the home. No apartment livers will be considered, because Bowser needs more than that! Great with kids, but he jumps a lot. A big kisser and cuddler. Very was separation anxiety, so he needs someone with a lot of time, love, and patience. Knows how to sit, lay down, roll over, fetch, spin, and speak. He also ...     Shea Shepherd Mix Female 12 years old 45 lbs. Oh hey, I'm Shea! So glad to meet you. I'm getting up there in years, it's true, but I'm still looking for my forever family. I came to Colorado from Texas after that big hurricane flooded so many homes, and now I'd like to find a new place to live where the ground is a little higher. I like to stay close to people, so I follow my foster family all over the house, and love it when they take me on walks. Since I am getting older though, my hearing and sight aren't what they used to be, and I'll need a family that can help me ease into old age. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fun, spunky, ... (Read More)independent dog who wants to love you and bring happy into your house. I'd probably be okay with older kids and dogs, as long as they aren't too overbearing. I haven't met any cats, but I have met these other bird things - I think my foster mom called them chickens - and they are okay by me. So if you're ready to say hey to Shea and let a little senior love into your life, let my friends at PawsCo know by reaching out to them at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org and fill out this adoption application: https://pawsco.org/adoptions/adoption-application/. He is seriously underweight, HW positive but we are beginning treatment and he had his first immiticide shot, some possible injury to hip, and xray shows he will most likely benefit from a hip replacement. Gives kisses and loves people.

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-13-00466Kenzie (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Kenzie was adopted from Longmont Humane Society at the end of 2011. She is currently 6 years old and roughly 60 pounds. She's a healthy adult that is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. For the past six years, she has been living in a rural community with plenty of space to run around outside and has been free to come in and out of the house through a dog door as she wishes. She knows basic obedience commands and is playful, loving, and eager to please. She is great with people and makes an excellent companion. As much as it breaks our hearts, she needs to be rehomed because she is in need of a place where she will be the ... (Read More)only dog. She has some resource guarding issues that have lead to her being very stressed and she can be unpredictable with other dogs. After seeking the advice and help of an animal behaviorist, she has improved greatly, but we believe she will be happier, more relaxed, and feel safer in an environment where she doesn't feel the need to compete with other dogs.
