Rescue Me ID: 15-07-27-00783Darby (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi..I'm Darby, a female shepherd/spaniel mix. My age is just a number, as I don't act my age. I'm currently living with my foster mom and her 2 bearded collies. I lived with a small dog and a cat before moving to this temporary home. My foster mom says: It took Darby about a day to feel really comfortable and she has adjusted well to my home. So much so that when I get home from work I always know where to find her ----- on the bed in the guest room. Now I've had many dogs but I will say that she has the best manners I've ever seen. Quiet, biddable, clean, affectionate and just a joy to have around. I am always surprised at her age ... (Read More)because there are times when she is like a puppy. She plays with my dogs and she and I have a tag contest. Her spirit is great and I'm amazed at her physicality, she runs like he wind. She is always within 10 feet of me and reacts with affection when I pet her. She is incredibly smart. She is a great passenger in the car. The other day my dog turned to her and kissed her on the face while they were waiting to get cookies...she was happy to receive his attention. If Darby sounds like a fit for you/your life, please contact Safe Place for Pets, as she is waiting to move to her new forever home. (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fiona Lab/Shepherd mix Female 6 months old 38 lbs. Close your eyes. Slow your breath. Quiet your mind. Now, imagine a world that is everything you want it to be. A world where you are happy, healthy, and successful. You have your dream job. Your partner is witty, charming, and easy on the eyes. If your dream world consists of children, they are smart, good looking, and always on their best behavior. You have a money tree growing in your backyard. Everything is awesome%BD'%BD| But WAIT! You're missing something important in your utopian daydream! You're reading this, so I'm going to assume that you love animals. That means we need to ... (Read More)add your dream dog to your dream life. Your dream dog is the perfect mixture of your favorite breeds-Labrador Retriever and Shepherd. She's a female, because that's what you prefer. She's young and smart enough to be easily trainable, but old enough to be potty and crate trained. She loves cats and other dogs. She's good with kids, too. She's really friendly and has the perfect energy level for your lifestyle. She appreciates every toy and treat you give her. She's goofy, playful, gentle, and sweet. She loves to be affectionate and show you how much she loves you. Her tail wags constantly, letting you know that she thinks everything is awesome, just like you do. Wow%BD'%BD|perfect life, huh? Yeah, too bad real life can't be as awesome as your imaginary dream life. But WAIT! Real life can (almost) be that awesome! I say 'almost' because I'm pretty sure money trees don't exist, and it takes a lot of hard work to land your dream job, dream partner, and dream kids. The dream dog part? I've got that covered. My name is Fiona, and I am the dog you've been searching for. All of those great qualities I mentioned above are real; I was actually describing myself-no dreaming required. And guess what-when I imagine my dream life, it includes a human just like you. So fill out an adoption application or email my friends at PawsCo so we can start our happily ever after together soon! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

I'm Roxanne, a sweet, calm Shepherd mix who loves human attention. I am loyal to a fault and crave to be near my person - in fact, I might even be a tad stubborn about it - that's how much I will love you. I am good with other dogs, but am not playful with them, so I'd make a better companion for a person, than for your current dog. I'm a 'people dog' I guess you could say! And although I am low energy in the house, I love LOVE going for a daily long walk - at least a mile. If you would like to meet me, please fill out the online app today! Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00898Terry (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Terry, a gentle, kind boy who was found stray and then spent some time living in a shelter. I'm currently in a quiet, relaxing foster home, which is just what I need while I wait for my forever family to scoop me up. I am aware of my environment and my foster family is helping me learn to settle, relax, and not to worry so much. If you move fast with your hands in a fist or fingers pointing, I flatten my ears, lower my head, and squint my eyes in case something bad is about to happen. My people give me lots of reassurance, and my confidence is improving every day, but I sure do appreciate a calm relaxing environment with no sudden ... (Read More)movements, actions, or noises. I am somewhat submissive, playful with other dogs and people, and I learn quickly. In just two weeks, I know Stay, Come, Lay Down, Go to Your Bed, Sit, and Shake (paw). I really enjoy riding in the car, going for walks and hikes, playing fetch, and receiving affection. You may rub my belly, face, and paws any ole time, please and thank you! Some of my favourite treats are chicken chews, beef jerky chews and milk bones, and I accept bones, simply to hoard and bury them in the yard. It's great fun! I am curious and friendly with children, but am afraid of young/small ones, and I would prefer not to be crated. I could also stand to gain some weight and muscle tone. Are you looking for a sweet, eager-to-please kind of guy, who sleeps with a blankie and teddy bear? It's your lucky day - and may be mine too! If you would like to meet me, please fill out an online app today. Adoption fee is $175 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Rescue Me ID: 15-07-22-00421Farley (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely sweet and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their temperaments, intelligence and loving ways. Since this breed mix requires exercise and love being with their people...if a hike or outdoor fun is the order of the day - count them in! These mixes are known to run joyfully and energetically through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to their favorite humans. Farley's current foster had the following to say about this loyal and devoted dog: Farley is so funny and ... (Read More)chock-full of character. His silly antics make us laugh. He sleeps in funny positions that we call doggie yoga. He is so happy in the mornings, wagging his tail, ready for his breakfast and morning walk/play/training time. He waits politely for his dinner and will only eat after the Okay signal. He is so smart and is a good problem solver! He learned how to open doors (look out stuffed animals!!) But after a few corrections he stopped! :) He waits politely at doors when coming inside and out. He knows obedience commands like sit, down, shake, lay, and roll over. We are working on stay and come while distracted. In addition we have been working on impulse control with leave it and look games. He is doing really well with drop it and leave it too. We can put a piece of cheese on his paw and say wait and he will wait until you give him the okay signal. He plays fetch indoors perfectly, but gets distracted outside. Farley walks on a leash with a gentle leader very well. He initially had a hard time (understandably) with barking dogs behind their fences, so now when we walk past some rude dogs he will not bark or lunge, but look to me for treats, and stay focused on me. I am very proud of him for the improvement he has made in this area. He loves his blanket and carries it with him from room to room. He does not like his crate, but does well in his indoor/outdoor kennel and dog run. He is not afraid of construction noise, thunder, or fireworks. He is happiest being near his adult people. Farley is a wonderful being who is still just a puppy at about 10 months old and 65 lbs (expected to be full-grown at about 68 - 70 lbs. As such, he could be so successful with a savvy dog-person who has the time and energy to work with Farley to bring out his wonderful traits. His foster has come such a long way with Farley...we'd like to see his training continued to bring out his full potential. In his puppyish style, Farley can be mouthy when he perceives its playtime. He can be diverted by someone who wants to put effort in...some treats and commands and he's learned to self-correct. Farley, like most puppies, is a blank slate that requires kind input and leadership to understand how to make his way in the world. . He seems to be leaving behind the lack of love and commitment that made up his early life and is ready to love and learn proper behavior. His time spent in a high-kill shelter with -Euthanasia Pending- on his cage didn't deprive Farley of his hope that someday a special family would choose him. He was being put to sleep because he had baby dermatitis due to fleas and filth...but in the end, he prevailed...and through the repeated efforts of Texas rescuers, Farley earned his ticket to Colorado. Since leaving the shelter, Farley has become a very huggable ball of shining fur with downy hair replacing the bald spots he used to have. We would like to see Farley in a home that has him involved in training and activities...he will thrive in an adult environment that truly loves him and considers him a very important part of the family. Farley would be an exceptional companion for savvy retirees who know the nature of dogs, enjoy training and have the time to bring out the best qualities of this pup with so much potential. Farley would be so happy with a job...it would speak to his working dog side that feels so proud when he's accomplished a hard day's work. Long hikes and backyard fun would also truly speak to his nature. Farley is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this happy and fun-loving companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. This little girl loves other dogs and wants to play. She ignores cats, squirrels, etc. and needs a little work on leash training. Fully vetted.     Linus is a very spunky and playful little guy that we rescued from a high-kill shelter in GA where he was to be euthanized due to lack of space. Linus is some sort of shepherd mix and is approximately 6 months to 1 year old. He weighs approximately 30 lbs. right now and we don't anticipate him growing too much bigger. Linus has such a big personality and is a really neat little dog! He gets along really well with other dogs and absolutely adores people too. We feel that Linus would do really well with any type of family and would make a great new addition! Our adoption process begins with you meeting Linus. Please contact his foster mom, ... (Read More)Kaytie, at (307) 797-2457 to schedule a play date with him and your existing dog(s). After you fill out an application, we will verify your references and do a brief home inspection. If all goes well, we will deliver Linus to you for a small adoption fee. You will also have the option to purchase a large wire kennel for an additional fee. We then ask that you sign our adoption contract. We will do a follow-up visit approximately two weeks to one month after the adoption to ensure that Linus is adjusting well to his new home and that he is happy and healthy. We feel our adoption process is the best way to vet good owners and to guard against people seeking dogs for dog fighting, bait dogs, and/or dog sales. Breed bans will be respected.     Hi, I'm Iliff, a long and lanky, mellow-mannered, even-tempered, and lovable, German Shepherd. It is not known where I came from, but I was named after the street in Denver where I was found roaming around. I am a smart girl, already responding to my new name, and I know some basic commands. I could really use some fattening up, and would do best with a loving owner who has the time, and the desire, to work with me. I will happily respect and obey you, and I am enjoying being a mother hen keeping my foster family's puppies and children in line! I do well at the dog park, and am not excitable. I am a good leash-walker and only pull a little ... (Read More)bit. I don't like wrestling around too much, as I get confused and think I have to be protective. Also, you should know that my greatest fear is the hose! I should not go to a home with any feline pets. I will also do best as the only alpha-female. I have been listening to my foster family talking about me, and they have said things like: 'she is very sweet!'; 'she's a great girl!; and 'we just love her!' It makes me very happy. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an online app today! Adoption fee is $300 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter.     Hello, I'm Kevin. I'm an 8 month old pup! I was rescued with my sister Koda. I am cautious when meeting new people, especially new adult males, but will warm up once I feel comfortable. I've warmed up to my foster family so much that I jump into their bed to snuggle in the morning! I love to snuggle and be petted - just don't surprise me with sudden movements near my head, please. Each day, I come out of my shell more and more. I have discovered that I love hot dogs, rubber chew toys, and playing tug o' war! I feel happiest while playing in the yard with my dog friends. I am fairly active and need daily exercise. My training is in progress. ... (Read More)I am potty trained and working on leash training/ wearing a harness. I will go in my crate on command. I feel safe in my crate. I used to get nervous while riding in the car, but last time I didn't even need to be crated! Generally, I am pretty easy-going. I am discovering that there are good people and good things in the world. My ideal adopter would be gentle, patient and kind. Once I get to know you, I will be your best friend!     ***To apply go to www.savemescout.wix.com/savemescoutrescue for an application.*** Meet Shiloh! Shiloh, named after the beloved book about an abandoned and abused Beagle puppy, was an abandoned puppy living for weeks if not months under a house west of Pueblo. Someone had seen him under the house and when they found out how long he'd been there and that he did not belong to the property owners, sent out a plea for help via Craigslist. The post was shared in Colorado Pet Foster Network and Colorado Canine Adoption Network and our rescue arranged with members of the groups to get him north to us. We believe Shiloh is around 9 months old as ... (Read More)he just finished losing his puppy teeth back when we received him. And based on his size and look or best guess for breeds might be Border Collie/German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees but who knows. He's very shy with new people but does warm up. He's good with other dogs and cats, and while it takes him a bit to feel comfortable, he has been fostered around children and does bond to them. Shiloh's adoption fee is $225 and includes his neuter, microchip, distemper and rabies vaccinations, de-worming and private in home training session.
