Rescue Me ID: 15-02-26-00215MARLEY (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is MARLEY, she was heartlessly discarded as a puppy because her ears didn't meet the 'standard' for a German Shepherd! Typical of a shepherd, Marley is a bit reserve with her affection and a little shy in the beginning as she slowly warms up to humans. Here at the shelter she is great with other dogs and has become the greeter and comforter to the new arrivals. Marley loves romping outdoors and will be quick to alert you when something is out of the norm. She will be a great and loyal addition to an active and loving family. Marley is full grown at about 60lbs., spayed, up to date on her vacs and micro- chipped. ... (Read More)Unfortunately the facility that Marley currently calls 'home' is in the high kill state of Texas, where there are too many great dogs and too few great adopters. And we know the heart breaking truth of that scenario. So we are looking for Marley's new forever home in the dog friendly East. We transport our dogs bi-monthly to their new homes via Rescue Road Trips. Marley's adoption fee is $170 and her safe and secure transport in $185. If you are interested in making Marley part of your family, email us for an adoption application and let's get this sweet girl home! (Less)

Young Jelly is an incredibly smart 1 1/2 yr old German Shepard boy. Wise beyond his years, Jelly observes everything around him and learns quickly from his human and canine friends alike. He loves to pal around with other pups including his good buddy Peanut (pictured with him and also up for adoption). He is crate-trained, house-trained, microchipped and neutered. Jelly would love a fenced in yard to play the day away as all young pups should. His current foster has this to say about him: 'Jelly is the sweetest little guy - whoever ends up with him is going to fall in love immediately.' Will that lucky person be you??     Mr. Brantley is the 1 year old son of our boy Briscoe, an absolute definition of the German shepherd breed. This young man possesses all of the wonderful characteristics of Briscoe but with all of the enthusiasm of a young pup. We have found Mr. Brantley to be happy, fun loving, people oriented, gentle, strong character, intelligent, focused (as a 1 year old pup can be) and of course the strong but in control protective instinct of the classic shepherd.     The wonderfully beautiful experience of working with the rehabilitation of emotionally and physically damaged German shepherds is in itself a reward but occasionally you are blessed with the presence of a gift straight from god. In this case it is a snow white, 80 pound, one year old, male, German shepherd Labrador retriever mix known as precious Beau. Our boy came to us severely physically damaged due to owner abuse and ultimately ended up having to sacrifice his left rear leg in order to live. This sadly is not an uncommon happening but what came next truly is uncommon, Beau never missed a beat, never gave up his love of people, never gave ... Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00258SAYDEE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SAYDEE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She had been picked up by animal control after being hit and dragged by a car causing her cuts and a bruised lung. SAYDEE has been quite since at the rescue which is understandable, she came having a bruised lung and staples in her muzzle. SAYDEE is great with the other dogs, whilst not yet running around and being playful, I do feel that when she has healed completely she will be a lot of fun. We do not have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on her behaviour around cats. SAYDEE will be suitable for a relatively active family, she is 3 years old, which is still ... (Read More)young for a German Shepherd Dog in terms of energy. SAYDEE will need a family that understands the German Shepherd inteligence and has the time and willingness to spend with her - giving her that much needed stimulation, with both mental and physical exercise. SAYDEE will benefit from basic and advanced training with her new family in order to show her boundaries and expectations, training also helps bond and allows both German Shepherd and human to learn each others body language which is very important. SAYDEE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm positive, which will be treated before she goes to her new forever home, and she is mirco-chipped. SAYDEE has an estimated date of birth of 1 February 2012 and at the time of rescue weighed 72.20 pounds. Although SAYDEE still has a little recovering to do and then her heart-worm treatment we are happy to accept and process applications, so that when she is healthy she can go straight to her perfect forever family. SAYDEE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. LLC, both highly reputable animal rescue transport companies to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). These are private companies and their transport fee's (which is paid directly to them) are $175 and $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00196CLARICE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. She is very affectionate and gentle. CLARICE is great with other dogs and is happy to sit back and watch the world go by. CLARICE is a young girl who would benefit from an active family. Someone who understands the needs of this intelligent breed, who understands that they need lots of stimulation and both mental and ... (Read More)physical exercise. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. CLARICE is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train and would absolutely benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family so that boundaries and expectations can be set, and through the training, bonding and understanding of each others body-language can be gained. CLARICE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested NEGATIVE and mirco-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 30th June 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 66 pounds. CLARICE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SASHA was saved from Fort Worth Animal services on 4th February 2015. SASHA is a stunning Red and Black German Shepherd and is a high energy girl, who gets on great with other dogs. She does jump up and needs work on her manners but this is mostly due to being excited. SASHA will benefit from a family that has the time to spend with an active dog, bearing in mind that German Shepherds stay active for many years and are not the kind of dogs to be left to entertain themselves in your yard. She will need a family that understands the need for stimulation and both mental and physical exercise. She will, as all dogs, benefit from basic and ... (Read More)advanced obedience with her new family - so that she can learn of what is to be expected from her and both SASHA and her new family can learn about each others body language and such. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00481LOBO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

LOBO was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 31st January 2015. He had been at the shelter twice before but this time he was an owner surrender. The reason the family gave was because he kept escaping. His original owner found him.in a ditch when he was a puppy. LOBO does have a front claw foot, which was apparently a birth defect, where his toes are separated. He used the claw to climb the chain link fence. He went back home then a couple months later his owner had health issues and his wife brought took him to the shelter. He was adopted from the shelter again and then got out from that family and was picked up by Animal Control. He ... (Read More)is now safe in rescue and we will be sure to find him a perfect family that has time to spend with him and give him no reason to even want to climb a fence. LOBO is a very friendly boy, he is very active and jumps very high from a standing position, so it is easy to see that he can escape. LOBO is clealry an active boy and although at times he limps/hobbles on his front leg, his foot causes him no concern and there is no reason for any kind of surgery. LOBO needs an active family that will not just leave him outside to get up to mischief and find a way of escaping, he needs a family that will be an integral part of his life, who will take him places and spend lots of fun quality time with him. I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activiites such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. LOBO does need basic training and would benefit from a family who is willing to take the time to educate and train with him, a great way to bond and set boundaries and for each other to learn body language, voice tone and over-all personalities. LOBO does jump up a lot at the moment so families with small children would have to be cautious of this and make his jumping up a priority to work on, he is very responsive and I do not see it taking very long with the correct training and guidance. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment as to how he is with cats. LOBO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and is mirco-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2012 and currently weighs (January 2015) around 55 pounds. LOBO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

KODA was saved from BARC shelter in Houston. He was an owner surrender because they couldn't care for him and he kept escaping. KODA is a great boy, he is responsive and friendly. He is well mannered and only jumps up occasionally and that is more when he see's the other dogs doing it. KODA is great with other dogs, although he is not fearful of letting them know he wants to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue and so we are unable to say how he is with cats. His owners said he kept escaping, but that is most likely as he was being left with nothing to occupy his mind and no way to expel his energy. KODA, as with all dogs will ... (Read More)benefit with some training from his new family so that boundaries and expectations can be laid down and to give both time to bond and learn each others ways and body language. KODA as mentioned is very responsive and with a family that understands German Shepherds mental and physical needs would be a pleasure to train with. KODA is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. KODA had tested positive for heart-worm disease, but received treatment on 2nd/3rd January 2015. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

MEYHA - ** NO SMALL ANIMALS** *** MEYHA has HIGH PREY DRIVE for SMALL ANIMALS! MEYHA was saved from Longview, TX where she had been found very emaciated. She is a stunning girl, with a unique look of having one blue eye and one brown eye. MEYHA is very responsive and automatically sat when I got treats out, she is very alert and has a high energy. MEYHA is a high energy dog who loves to run and play and have as much fun as she can in one day. She is great with the other dogs, but can get a bit of a bully when she is initially running around and starting to release her own energy, but it is more of trying to get the other dog to play with ... (Read More)her. MEYHA would suit an active family that has time to do things with her, she would excel in any activity that she is trained, or allowed to do and enjoy. She is lots of fun and is an all round happy dog. At night she likes to lie as close to my bed as she can and always greets me with a kiss. MEYHA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of February 2013. MEHYA came with a report from the shelter that she has a high prey drive for small animals - this includes small dogs, cats and wildlife. Due to this MEYHA MUST always be kept leashed whilst out and under no circumstances be allowed near small animals, even if she is leashed, it is not fair on her or the other animal. Her prey drive is a natural instinct and is nothing she should be punished for and so keeping her away from potential "prey" and secured fenced yard must be agreed to. Apart from barking up a tree at squirrels with the rest of the dogs, I have not seen her have this prey drive, we do not have cats at the rescue and only medium sized dogs which she has no interest in! MEYHA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for and adoption donation of $350 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC., a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00237HOLLEY (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

HOLLY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services KILL Shelter. She had been hit by a car and had a suspected fractured pelvis. She was taken directly to Somerset Animal Clinic and x-rays confirmed the break, she was also incontinent and required her bladder to be expressed. After consultation with several vets and her progress whilst staying (2weeks) at Somerset Animal Clinic remarkable, it was decided that the fracture was self-healing and that FHO surgery (cutting off the hip ball joint since the hip was rubbing on the pelvic bone) was the way to go. She has already able to do her business again on her own. We took her to Deason ... (Read More)Animal Hospital and after further consultation and fresh x-rays taken, Dr. Deason believed that she did not need FHO surgery and that if she is kept with minimal movement, he believes she will continue to self-heal and make a complete recovery within 6-8 weeks (end of March 2015). SO - on 31st December after being in veterinary care for 2 weeks she came to rescue. HOLLY is staying in the treatment area, where I have put thick hay down to make the floor soft, there are a few other dogs there to keep her company and she can go to the small outside area as she pleases. Since being here at rescue she is doing great, she seems to enjoy having the other dogs around her. HOLLY is very affectionate and loves to cuddle and gives kisses. She is the kind of dog that will always be by your side. Due to her injuries she will not be a dog that will be going on marathon runs with you, but she will be back to running and playing and living a normal, happy life. HOLLY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has had blood panels run and her blood and chemical results have come back good. Her hips have no signs of dysplasia although she will need yearly x-rays to watch out for arthritis, which could or could not happen. A good joint supplement would be highly recommended for the rest of her life - which is really recommended for all German Shepherds as a support supplement. We are happy to accept and process applications and pre-adopt HOLLY until she is ready to start her new life with her new forever family. HOLLY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00235AMMO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AMMO was saved from Dallas Animal Services with an injured leg. He was taken directly to our orthopedic surgery where x-rays showed an old injury of a broken front right leg. Surgery was performed the next day where the bones were re-aligned and a plate screwed to keep them in place. AMMO stayed at the vets for a week to be sure there was not any complications and the plate sets correctly as the bones start to heal. AMMO was brought to the rescue on 30th January and he has to have 3 weeks strict crate rest with minimal exercise to allow his leg to heal. He will be going for a check-up around 21st February and hopefully Dr. Deason ... (Read More)(orthopedic surgeon - Deason Animal Hospital) will then release him to be available for adoption. He will still have to have limited exercise and limited leash walks which will gradually increase over the next 4 weeks. Everyone that has met AMMO, from the shelter staff, the people that helped to transport him down from Dallas to Dr. Deason himself has commented on what a great dog he is. Dr. Deason was amazed at even though he was in considerable pain when he had him for examination, he was still very sweet. I asked for AMMO to have x-rays taken of his hips and Dr. Deason told me that he has a mild-moderate hip dysplasia on his right hip and his left him looks normal. I asked about doing an FHO and he told me that currently AMMO does not warrent FHO surgery, however, yearly x-rays will monitor any deterioration and it could be a consideration in a few years. (FHO surgery can cost around $800-$1,000). It is advised that AMMO be given joint and bone supplements for the rest of his life, which is recommended for GSDs of his age anyway. Dr. Deason also recommended that he have his teeth cleaned, this was not able to be done during surgery as any dental work should be done several months after any other surgery due to the high bacteria in the mouth. His teeth are good for a dog his age, but would benefit from a good clean. AMMO is a great dog, once his leg has healed he will be back to running around and playing and catching up on being able to release all that German Shepherd Dog Energy. He has a great temperament and is an all round happy dog. He is good with other dogs, although when eating in his crate does growl if another dogs comes close, so there could be a little bit of food protection that would need to be watched. He is, however, very responsive and I don't see this being a problem with the correct guidance and training. AMMO was neutered at the time of his leg surgery, he has his rabies and core vaccines, he is de-wormed, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. AMMO has an estimated date of birth of January 2010 and he weighs around 68-70 pounds. AMMO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

DEMI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services on 25th November 2014. She was very nervous of humans and dogs. Since being at the rescue her confidence has built and she now loves to run and play with the other dogs, often instigating play with the younger and older dogs. She has gained confidence with humans too, although she still shows some caution, which being aloof is a German Shepherd quality. She is great when she has decided you are ok and loves to get and give as much loving as she can. I do believe that she has at some point been abused as she does cower if you walk towards her, this I am working on to show her that not all ... (Read More)humans are bad. DEMI would benefit from an active family who has the time and interest to spend with her taking her on adventures and working with her on basic and advanced training, something all dogs and families benefit from and need. DEMI is a smart girl and very responsive and I believe with the correct guidance and training she will pick things up very quickly. DEMI has lot of potential and is at a great age to do lots of fun activities with. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment on how she is with cats. DEMI has an estimated date of birth of 24 November 2013. She is spayed, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Heart-worm tested NEGATIVE, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She is around 42.50 pounds (Nov 2014) and needs to gain a good amount of weight. He estimated average weight when fully grown 'could' be around 65 pounds. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. Thankfully the surgery was 100% success, the distemper was stopped from spreading and because the neurological symptoms were caught almost immediately there are no neurological side effects of distemper symptoms. One downside is that BELLE has lost almost all of her teeth. This does not hinder her ... (Read More)in anyway at all and she happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for fighting and battling the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. I have not kept them in a crate they have had free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE is spayed, rabies, up to date on her vaccines, de-wormed, she tested negative for heart-worm and the 3 tick diseases and she is micro-chipped. BELLE weighs around 70 pounds. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

BECKY was once in San Antonio Animal Care Services, but she thought she had found her perfect forever family. Sadly, they did not give her a chance and she was returned to once again be on death row. Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue saved her and brought her back to the pack. BECKY is extremely active, LOVES her toys, LOVES to run and chase around, she can get vocal when she plays and gets excited, but that is pretty standard for dogs, just like excited children lol. BECKY is responsive to commands although I have not done any training with her, she will be very easy to train. BECKY would suit an active family who can give her ... (Read More)both the mental and physical exercise that she needs to keep her busy and out of mischief. BECKY has an estimated date of birth of around 2nd February 2013. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how she is with cats, however, she is still relatively young and could be taught to leave them alone, if she did have that "interest". Rescue Me ID: 15-01-27-00198BARON (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet BARON - this handsome, super intelligent boy is still waiting for the right family to find him. BARON, we believe is a PANDA SHEPHERD and is so smart and full of life. He is a complete love bug, he loves to play with dogs or humans, last night he was rolling round in the hay that Donald was trying to put out and then giving him kisses before rolling around again. BARON is one of those vocal dogs, not necessarily barking, but he likes to talk and make sure you are listening. BARON is VERY responsive, but he also is the dog that will "at times" push you to your limits, but he always knows when he has pushed a little bit too ... (Read More)much as he will run off and play as if nothing has ever happened. BARON does bark a lot when people are at the other side of the fence, I wouldn't say this is fence-aggression, its just that he wants to be out there. I take him in the woods with my own dogs off leash and he doesn't run far, he stays close by and will come in when told to. BARON is full of energy, he needs an active family and he needs a family that has time to work on obedience, advance and then other kinds of training. BARON is the dog that needs to be doing something. At times it is as if he doesn't know how to behave and so guidance and supervision is a must until he is settled and everyone is confident in that he understands and knows how to behave. BARON is truly a great dog, but as mentioned he needs an experienced family who are active and love working with dogs. Someone who understands that these dogs can easily manipulate us humans and out-smart us easily! BARON will give the right family a LOT of fun and pride as he will excel in all that he is taught to do. BARON is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of approximately September 2011 and he weighs around 65-70 pounds. BARON is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. She is limping, not using her rear leg and had a wound on her front leg. X-rays did not show any orthopedic damage, so ligament damage is suspected. Her wounds were treated and pain, anti-inflammatory and anti-biotics subscribed. She was taken to our vets and she has a torn ACL, ARETO had TPLO surgery on 7th January 2015 and her damaged teeth extracted on 27th January 2015. She is doing great with her physio therapy, is using her leg and is walking great, she wants to run and ... (Read More)play, but the from her surgery date until around the end of March she will have gradual exercise build up. She has done fantastic and is now just waiting for her perfect family to find her. ARETO has a date of birth estimated as December 2013. She is spayed, rabies, up to date on her vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She currently weighs around 55 pounds. ARETO will be hoping to find an active, loving family. Once she has recovered from her surgery which takes a few months she will be raring to go. ARETO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. ARETO is able to travel and go to her new family, as long as they agree to follow the guidelines until the end of her two month physio therapy, which is basically gradually building up on exercise and stretching. Our girl has passed all of our socialization and training programs while simultaneously raising her young pup. This lady has overcome issues that would have killed a less determined canine. Jewell came to us malnourished, parasite infested, hairless from the mange, protecting a sick (and only) puppy and wonderfully determined to survive. Her transformation was an amazing journey about the meaning of life, all who were involved with her recovery and subsequent training felt both humbled and blessed.     Genie has a loving and open personality that allows her to be engaging to almost anyone and a respectful demeanor that allows her get along very well with other dogs. We know little about genie's back ground other than she was on her own and in need of help. This young lady will probably never be any larger than she is right now which would make her an excellent size for a home environment. To say that genie is smart would be gross understatement, while working with her I have found her to be down right brilliant, she can be taught to do almost anything.     UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER: Howdy, from Louisiana! This is Kristi - Venus's foster mom. I have sweet, sweet Venus. She has gained a little weight but is in really good health. I got tickled at her one evening at feed time. Our routine is for me to open the gate to the back yard at which point Venus and her foster sisters Beth and Sally (now adopted) run for their pen where their food is waiting. This particular evening I only counted 2 dogs at the gate. Then I heard a whimper. It was Venus - she was on an old trampoline that the dogs play on. The chair she used to climb on the trampoline was turned over on its side so she could not get down. I ... (Read More)rescued her and she ran to the pen with her sisters to eat. She is such a sweet, loving dog. She likes to run and play but when she gets tired she finds a quiet dog house to get in to relax. Another funny thing is the day Venus and her foster siblings were chasing birds in the back yard. The birds would fly over the yard and the dogs would run from side to side trying to catch them probably hoping one would land in the yard. No such luck. They did get plenty of exercise, though. Venus is a great dog and I love her so much. She deserves a home of her own. She will make some lucky family a great new addition. Venus was a little shy and timid towards me at first but now she comes to me on her own for me to pet her and love on her. She plays very good with her foster brothers and sisters. She does not play as rough as they do so she will back off after a few minutes to play by herself. Venus is a good name for her because just like the Roman goddess of the same name, she is all about love. She likes to give 'kisses' to her foster brother Job. Even though Job is older and crankier, Venus does not let that stop her. I call Job Venus' boyfriend. Venus is such a good, little dog. Sometimes I pick her up and put her in my lap for a few minutes which she does not seem to mind. Venus has never given me any trouble other than trying to dig in the backyard. I know that any family who adopted her would be more than happy with her. (Less)
