We are not quite sure why Mr. Wolfgang (Wolfe) is the way that he is but we are happy that he is. I have trained and interacted with thousands of German shepherds but I can truthfully say that I have never met a more lovable, sweet and happy lap dog in my life. Take everything you know about German shepherds, except for intelligence, loyalty and gentleness, and throw it out of the window.     We often wonder how our wards (German Shepherd Rescues) overcome their horrible pasts in such a complete manner. Our girl Adelle is one such example, malnourished, intentionally stunted, socialized and devoid of human contact, and yet she has developed into an absolute wonder of happiness, love and devotion. Miss Adelle is a knock out gorgeous one year old female with a beautiful gait, frame and coat. Though totally proportional this young lady will probably never exceed 60 pounds in total body weight, this obviously due to the intentional stunting.     Our boy Thor (a half German shepherd and half Siberian husky) has just graduated from our socialization and training programs. Mr. Thor performed extremely well in all aspects though I must admit that he is fairly convinced that he is the most hansom animal on the planet. This guy carries himself with a swagger that could be considered vain but he backs it up with intelligence, appeal and grace, watching this guy prance is pure poetry in motion.     LIFE OR DEATH Which one lives and which one doesn't? Saving dogs that are heartworm positive leaves only two choices, life or death. If the HW's are not treated, the dog will not survive. Paying for the treatment is a huge financial burden and rescues don't know if the dog is HW positive until after the dog is taken into their program. Then the choice for the rescue becomes ominous, either find the money to treat the dog or face a heartbreaking decision. If you can't donate, we certainly understand. However, could you pretty please cross-post this message to just one other person that might be able to help? Our faces below would greatly ... (Read More)appreciate it and it would make a difference between death of heart-worms or life. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 5 dogs can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/saving-dogs-life-or-death/333104 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-10-00080Mia (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our beautiful Mia is a robust beauty, who just lost her home. Mia's owners were unable to take her along during their recent change of residence, and left her behind in a suburban animal shelter, with which we have a long-standing working relationship. Just three years old, Mia begins her transition to the rescue process. Mia is a pretty mix of Rottweiler and German Shepherd. She has the prominent Rottie head, that features a slightly elongated muzzle, in profile. Mia has the traditional Rotti black and tan colors, blended with a touch of coat fringe and a slightly plumed tail, that suggest the Shepherd DNA. As a mix of two powerful ... (Read More)breeds, Mia needs continued positive socialization in her new lifestyle. She came from an adult home, where she was the only dog, and was not properly socialized to other dogs as a pup. Mia had forgotten her puppy roots, and her littermates, and had begun to regard her own species with trepidation. It has been exciting to watch Mia's progress as she has developed into an outgoing social butterfly, who loves human attention, and enjoys playtime with other dogs. Mia could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two calm, well behaved dogs. She craves the love and attention that the shelter process has denied her. Mia absolutely loves people, and melts right into the warmest of doggie hugs. She would love to keep quiet company with her adult adopters, napping by the fire and sharing a brisk evening constitutional. Mia has a loving, gentle spirit that feeds on positive human interaction. It's obvious that Mia has been loved and cared for, but she represents the common dietary mistakes that some well meaning dog owners make. Mia came to us weighing 60 pounds, and was overweight, underexercised, and obviously had been fed a diet rich in human leftovers. Now that she has transitioned to a lean kibble with added Omega fats, she has begun to drop weight nicely, and her energy level has increased considerably. Mia is quite close to her goal weight of 45 pounds, and has regained her svelte physique and optimal health. Mia is a sensitive, mild manner girl who looks to her handler for direction. She is a fantastic candidate for obedience training, and already knows some commands. She's very eager to please and would be a standout in the Canine Good Citizen program once she conquers her dog fears. We encourage adopters to follow through with the CGC program and give Mia a life rich in diverse experiences. Mia is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia. She has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Mia, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info. (Less)

He will jump up onto your leg to let you know he has to potty and he still needs some work with heeling. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Liam is currently raised with 6 other med-large dogs and 3 cats. He stands 17' at the shoulder and his body length is 23' from neck to end of back. He is a calm, quiet puppy, affectionate with other dogs, cats and people. Not a whiner, barker, chewer, jumper, digger or reactive to new environments. Liam is learning leash walking, as he tends to rollover when the collar is applied. He is very submissive and tends either lie down, rollover, or wiggle when petted. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ms. Bella is a one year old female German shepherd that came to our rescue in pretty sad shape. This young lady had been raised in an environment that forced her to be submissive to survive a very aggressive older male. Though at first we were not sure what we had to work with, our girl rose to the occasion and has never looked back. Today Ms. Bella is the open and loving girl that one would expect from a one year old German shepherd. This girl has developed some very good friends within our other dogs, I believe they were a big part of her recovery, they play hard and friendly just as they should. Anyone who has ever raised a German shepherd pup knows that the journey is long, demanding and an experience that you would not trade for anything. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is MARLEY, she was heartlessly discarded as a puppy because her ears didn't meet the 'standard' for a German Shepherd! Typical of a shepherd, Marley is a bit reserve with her affection and a little shy in the beginning as she slowly warms up to humans. Here at the shelter she is great with other dogs and has become the greeter and comforter to the new arrivals. Marley loves romping outdoors and will be quick to alert you when something is out of the norm. She will be a great and loyal addition to an active and loving family. Marley is full grown at about 60lbs., spayed, up to date on her vacs and micro- chipped. ... (Read More)Unfortunately the facility that Marley currently calls 'home' is in the high kill state of Texas, where there are too many great dogs and too few great adopters. And we know the heart breaking truth of that scenario. So we are looking for Marley's new forever home in the dog friendly East. We transport our dogs bi-monthly to their new homes via Rescue Road Trips. Marley's adoption fee is $170 and her safe and secure transport in $185.     Genie has a loving and open personality that allows her to be engaging to almost anyone and a respectful demeanor that allows her get along very well with other dogs.     UPDATE FROM THE FOSTER: Howdy, from Louisiana! This is Kristi - Venus's foster mom. I have sweet, sweet Venus. She has gained a little weight but is in really good health. I got tickled at her one evening at feed time. Our routine is for me to open the gate to the back yard at which point Venus and her foster sisters Beth and Sally (now adopted) run for their pen where their food is waiting. This particular evening I only counted 2 dogs at the gate. Then I heard a whimper. It was Venus - she was on an old trampoline that the dogs play on. The chair she used to climb on the trampoline was turned over on its side so she could not get down. I ... (Read More)rescued her and she ran to the pen with her sisters to eat. She is such a sweet, loving dog. She likes to run and play but when she gets tired she finds a quiet dog house to get in to relax. Another funny thing is the day Venus and her foster siblings were chasing birds in the back yard. The birds would fly over the yard and the dogs would run from side to side trying to catch them probably hoping one would land in the yard. No such luck. They did get plenty of exercise, though. Venus is a great dog and I love her so much. She deserves a home of her own. She will make some lucky family a great new addition. Venus was a little shy and timid towards me at first but now she comes to me on her own for me to pet her and love on her. She plays very good with her foster brothers and sisters. She does not play as rough as they do so she will back off after a few minutes to play by herself. Venus is a good name for her because just like the Roman goddess of the same name, she is all about love. She likes to give 'kisses' to her foster brother Job. Even though Job is older and crankier, Venus does not let that stop her. I call Job Venus' boyfriend. Venus is such a good, little dog. Sometimes I pick her up and put her in my lap for a few minutes which she does not seem to mind. Venus has never given me any trouble other than trying to dig in the backyard. I know that any family who adopted her would be more than happy with her. (Less)
