Rescue Me ID: 15-05-20-00105Hans (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

German Shepherd lovers will swoon at the elegant good looks of our magestic boy, Hans. Just one and a half years old, Hans found himself a homeless stray in a small town, scrounging for his daily meal for almost two months before Animal Control Officers were able to coax him to safety and shelter. Hans has recently joined us, and we have enjoyed watching his outgoing personality unfold. He loves people, and is generally friendly to strangers. He would be the ideal K9 companion to an active single, couple, or family with older kids, who have large dog, or Shepherd experience. Powerful breeds like German Shepherds, that have a work ethic ... (Read More)bred into their DNA, require active lifestyles that challenge their mental and physical faculties. They also need a strong leader to teach them Canine Good Citizenship. Hans is typical German Shepherd, and has the classic brown and black short coat with saddle bag markings. He is petite for the breed standard, weighing just 60 pounds. He is a bit underweight, from his ramblin' days, and could easily carry another 10 pounds, gained through optimal nutrition, with omega fats added to his diet. Hans exhibits the loyal, protective and extremely intelligent nature that is characteristic of the breed. During his initial few weeks at the town Shelter, Hans exhibited some reactivity to other dogs, while on leash, but we have found that switching him to a Herm Sprenger training collar, and working his basic obedience commands, has completely transformed him. He now heels nicely and pays close attention to his handler, looking for direction. Hans loves the training regimen, and can easily move forward, in the hands of motivated adopters, to earn his Canine Good Citizenship certification, and beyond. Hans is in excellent health, has been neutered, and is structurally sound with no obvious hip problems. He is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptspirosis, canine influenza, and bordatella. He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Hans, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 720-903-0636 for an adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-14-00123Migo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our beautiful boy, Migo, is a mild mannered, yet energetic lad, who will delight seasoned dog owners with his outgoing personality. He came to us as a city stray, fresh from a bustling, high kill animal control facility, where he had awaited owners to find him, and bring him home. Nobody claimed Migo, so he was placed in the shelter adoption program, after earning good behavior evaluations. He had become a staff and volunteer favorite, and we received several pleas to invite Migo into our rescue, after his luck ran out, and a case of shelter kennel cough put him on the path to euthanasia. Migo has been a perfect gentlman as he has blended ... (Read More)into our bustling foster home. Our shelter contacts have described Migo as a Rhodesian Ridgeback, mixed with a bit of German Shepherd. Migo has the massive head, floppy ears, tail and stance of the Ridgeback, with a characteristic splash of white on his chest, but we also see the black saddleback markings of the GSD. Migo has a strong, muscular physique, but he is petite for both breeds, weighing just over 60 pounds. He is a very maneagable size for large breed enthusiasts, who may not have the room for a truly massive dog. Migo is a medium to high energy dog who loves the outdoors. He would do best in the active home of a single, couple or family with older kids, who are all on the same page about training an active, strong dog. He is a two and a half year old adult dog, but is slightly behind the learning curve in obedience work. Migo has been impressing us daily with his attentive performance during his Canine Good Citizen training. He is an excellent student, eager to please, and works for treats or praise. Adopters should have a blast as they continue their work with Migo, and he could well pass the Canine Good Citizenship exam in no time. As an adult dog, Migo is past the puppy mayhem stage, and has developed respectful house manners. He may still jump up on guests in an enthusiastic welcome, but he is making progress on his 'off' command. He is housetrained and crate trained, although, adopters will have to troubleshoot a few accidents as Migo transitions to a new potty routine. Rescue dogs typically lose some of their mojo as they move through the rescue process. Migo is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Migo, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info.     We often wonder how our wards (German Shepherd Rescues) overcome their horrible pasts in such a complete manner. Our girl Adelle is one such example, malnourished, intentionally stunted, socialized and devoid of human contact, and yet she has developed into an absolute wonder of happiness, love and devotion. Miss Adelle is a knock out gorgeous one year old female with a beautiful gait, frame and coat. Though totally proportional this young lady will probably never exceed 60 pounds in total body weight, this obviously due to the intentional stunting.     LIFE OR DEATH Which one lives and which one doesn't? Saving dogs that are heartworm positive leaves only two choices, life or death. If the HW's are not treated, the dog will not survive. Paying for the treatment is a huge financial burden and rescues don't know if the dog is HW positive until after the dog is taken into their program. Then the choice for the rescue becomes ominous, either find the money to treat the dog or face a heartbreaking decision. If you can't donate, we certainly understand. However, could you pretty please cross-post this message to just one other person that might be able to help? Our faces below would greatly ... (Read More)appreciate it and it would make a difference between death of heart-worms or life. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 5 dogs can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/saving-dogs-life-or-death/333104 (Less)
