Rescue Me ID: 17-08-20-00071Rocco (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rocco is a 5 year old healthy giant German Shepherd who is neutered and up to date in shots. he is very strong and clumsy so he really needs to have space and a smart handler. He is a good dog, listens to command and even walks well on leash unless he gets excited about a squeal or something exciting and jets that way but because of his size, he will knock you to the floor if you're not paying attention. I want to screen any potential adopter as i'm not in a hurry to get him to a new home. I'm looking for a gentle loving home for him that has enough space to run a horse around. If this is not what you have to offer Rocco than he will ... (Read More)continue to stay in my apartment where there is patience, love and hiking trips daily. But if you do have the right home and are looking for a giant love bug than please write me an email and tell me about you and ask me any questions you might have about Rocco. Thanks (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-18-00077Sasha (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Stunning Sasha just knocks our socks off. Just three years old, this beautiful, Black and Tan German Shepherd was cast off by owners who had let her have a couple of happenstance litters, and then cast her aside in favor of a new puppy. And so, they picked the worst possible option for her: the overcrowded city pound, where owner surrendered dogs are greenlighted for euthanasia. We jumped at the chance to help Sasha find better people and a forever home. Sasha is right at the age when training is key, especially for a powerful, large breed dog. It was clear that her former owners had not done any obedience work with her, and even though ... (Read More)she lived happily in a busy family structure, she had not been taught the basics of canine good citizenship. And, it was obvious that Sasha was not getting enough attention or exercise. Our first step in Sasha's program was regular leash walking, to create a calm, relaxed mind and body ready to accept obedience commands. Sasha has developed beautifully, and now knows most of her basic commands. She is a dream to train, is very eager to please, and responds well to all positive reinforcement techniques. She is praise and treat motivated, so adopters will be able to continue our work easily. Sasha could easily go on to achieve her certification in Canine Good Citizenship, if adopters persevere. Sasha would be a good fit for an active single or couple who enjoy the outdoors and can provide a fair amount of exercise. She could also join an active family with older children, but toddlers might not be the best fit for an active, powerful dog. She has blended in with a multi-dog pack, so she could join a multi-dog home, but she may not be a good fit for cats. Sasha has good manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during Sasha's transition to a new home. She is in excellent health, and is at an ideal lean body weight of 60 pounds. She has been recently spayed, and has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed, and microchipped. If you are interested in Sasha, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 860- 908-9738 for more info. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00097Lucky (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our blustery Lucky is a big beautiful fluffball, who is convinced that he is the Emperor of Everything. He came to us from one of our American Eskimo rescue contacts in Houston, Texas, after his adopter backed out of his adoption, once it determined that he was heartworm positive. The Houston Eskie rescue folks had pulled Lucky for this particular adopter, and did not have the space to accommodate him after she backed out. And so we flew lucky to Connecticut and began his heartworm treatment. He is truly a magnificent dog, and, fortunately, his heartworm load was very low, and tests revealed that his heart was not compromised in any way. We ... (Read More)were able to start treatment immediately, and he's come through it beautifully. Our Vet has pronounced Lucky 'good as new,' and he is now ready for adoption. Lucky appears to be is a striking mix of Great Pyranees and German Shepherd, and at 80 pounds, he is a one impressive dude! He is a large, strong dog, with a full, bushy, white coat, and one floppy ear. Two years old, he has a youthful vigor and would do well in an active home, with folks who enjoy an outdoors lifestyle. He is a high energy dog, who needs alot of vigorous exercise to work off his yayas. He loves the outdoors, particularly snow, and would be the ideal running, walking or hiking companion. If underexercised, Lucky can become bored and frustrated, so this boy is definitely not a candidate for a laid back lifestyle. Strong, Alpha leadership is the key to Lucky. He needs an experienced adopter, who exudes confidence and can command his respect. As a double dose of hardwired working breeds, Lucky needs mental stimulation as well as physical activity. He seems to consider his training regimen as his job, and takes pride in excellent performance. He is surprisingly easy to train, and since arriving in foster care, he has mastered all of his basic obedience commands. He works for both praise and treats, so adopters will be able to use basic commands to communicate instantly with Lucky, and assert their pack leader status. Lucky would be a great fit for folks who enjoy obedience work. He will astound them! As an Alpha dog, Lucky would be best suited to an adult home, maybe with teenagers, who are all on the same page about maintaining his exercise and training regimen. Once he is settled into his pack dynamic, Lucky is an exceptionally fun dog, full of love and life, poised to thrill and delight his family. Due to his size and strength, we feel he would overwhelm toddlers, older kids and cats, but he could coexist nicely with another dog after proper introduction. Lucky is in excellent health, has been successfully treated for heartworm disease, and is neutered. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. Lucky is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptopirosis. He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in our handsome Lucky, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application. (Less)

Ellie is an 8 month old Shepard mix who was rescued from the local animal shelter (ACS). She is a super sweet, playful puppy. Although she is shy at first, she is learning to trust. She immediately loves other dogs and has been around cats and young children with no difficulties. Ellie may have some neurological issues as she walks awkwardly at times with some weakness in her hind legs. This doesn't stop her from any activities. She loves to run in the backyard and easily keeps up with the other dogs in the home. Ellie is a real sweetheart who needs lots of love and patience as she adjusts to her forever home. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-14-00207Sandy (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our Sandy is a lovely lady who recently joined us from a Town Shelter, where she spent some time after Animal Control officers found her roaming the neighborhood as a stray. Sandy was a favorite among Shelter Staff and Volunteers, but sadly, at 7 years young, Sandy's shelter adoption options were limited. Seems that everybody wants to experience puppy hell, and too few people appreciate the considerable benefits of having an older dog, who is well past the puppy mayhem stage. Sandy appears to be a mix of Belgian Malinois Shepherd and Labrador Retriever. She is a tall, statuesque beauty, weighing 45 pounds. Sandy is a bit underweight due to ... (Read More)a bout of giardia, but has been treated and is gaining back lost weight nicely. She should fill out to 55 pounds or so, through healthy diet and exercise. Her short flat coat is easy to groom, and is mostly russet brown, with cream and black markings on her face and feet. Sandy seems more like a goofy Lab in personality, and she seems laid back, demure, and enjoys the companionship of her people. She seems to have a slight sadness about her, and is likely feeling confused and disoriented with the rescue process. Sandy has a very genial nature. She is a sociable dog, and while she has not had much background in obedience, she has grasped the basics and seems to enjoy the training exercises. She certainly is food motivated, and would be best suited to an adult home with folks not tempted to fuss with her while she is eating. Sandy is easy to walk on lead, and has a moderate exercise level, although that could increase as she gains weight. She would be happy with a few leisurely to brisk leash walks daily, and a game of frisbee. Sandy would be a great choice for a moderately active single or couple, a recent retiree or senior. She could easily do well in an apartment lifestyle, and can be trusted home alone for short periods of time. She could join a multi-dog home with other laid-back, sociable dogs, and she would probably be fine with cats. Sandy is a pretty good all-around companion dog, and needs to be in an environment where her golden years will be spent as the light of someone's life, rather than considered an afterthought. Sandy has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. She is in great health and has been spayed. She is slightly underweight and should be at an ideal at weight of 50 to 55 pounds. We recommend a grain free kibble diet with added Omega fats and nutritious natural treats like pieces of apple, veggies etc. Sandy is in great health and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitus, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza, coronavirus), and she has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test: negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed, microchipped and is on preventatives for Heartworm and Flea/Tick. If you are interested in Lady, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
