German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This little girl is a small package with a big heart! You'll find her low-key disposition and her ability to get along with other dogs, cats and people is very special. Glamour is a 40lb sweetheart. We estimate her to be between 1 and 2 years of age and is crate trained and housebroken. Glamour was rescued from a high-kill shelter in S. Louisiana but fortunately for her, she had only been there a week when the rescue saved her. Thus, she didn't have time to pick up any bad habits or sink into depression. She is now in foster care, just waiting for her new owner to step up. The foster says she is an absolute doll and loves her toys!! She is ...     DOB 8/31/12 USCHIE was saved with her 2 siblings and her purebred German Shepherd Dog mother from Wise County Animal Shelter. USCHIE grew up amongst the pack and so is extremely well socialized with other dogs. She has been to adoption events and just loves to fuss with people and children of all ages. She is gentle, but when excited does tend to jump up and twirl around. With some basic training in her manners and obedience she would be a perfect addition to any family. USCHIE does well on the leash although she does pull a little. She loves to play either on her own or with the other dogs. USCHIE is house trained in that she uses the ... (Read More)dog door, so some time teaching her to let you know she needs to go our might be needed, but she is a very smart girl and I do not think this would take long at all once in a regular routine. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

DAKOTA has had a really rough life in his first few months of life. Whilst living with his family, most likely as an outside puppy, he developed some abscess on his elbows and so his owners were going to SHOOT him. Saved and treated, DAKOTA is doing great, he is healthy and happy and even our vet had said if he hadn't had so many dogs himself he would adopt him. DAKOTA is a very playful boy, he can get excited and vocal, but is very responsive. He has been to several adoption events and loved all the fuss, was very well behaved and was great with the children when they went into the pen to play. DAKOTA is hoping to find a fun loving ... (Read More)family that will let him be himself but teach him good manners and behaviour. He is wanting to find his own family that he can love and devote his life to. DAKOTA spent an afternoon at a rehabilitation day care for mentally challenged children and adults and he was perfect, although a large boy at over 80 pounds, he is extremely gentle and non aggressive. DAKOTA is a great size for anyone needing any kind of mobility support for adults or children and his calm laid back personality compliments it perfectly. DAKOTA is neutered, rabies, DHPP, de-wormed, micro-chipped and Heartworm/tick disease tested negative. His estimated birthday is March 2013. We use Rescue Road Trips to bring loving companions like DAKOTA from the rescue in south Texas to wonderful homes up north. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our 60-pound country girl, Marley, has the disposition of her namesake with none of the quirky antics. Marley has just graduated 'boot camp' and is ready to assume her rightful position as a valued family member. Our version of boot camp is a 4-6 week stay at a local volunteer's property where the shelter dogs can be assessed and problem areas addressed. When Marley first arrived, she could not navigate a steep set of stairs (challenging to some humans, too) and would wait for the foster to come get her when going either up or down. Now she flies up and down the stairs with ease. She was also tense and would pace back and forth in the ... (Read More)evening after a full day of exercise. Now she comes in the house, goes immediately to her blanket and settles down to watch TV. All the stress is gone from her body and she is at peace. Marley is about 3 yrs old , is UTD on all shots, and is HW negative. She is good on a leash, likes to ride in the car and absolutely ADORES swimming. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and even seems to have a calming influence on them, as she is quiet and rarely barks. We now know that she is housebroken as well and seems to respond well to commands. In fact, the foster said she actually does better when given a command, as if she prefers instruction. We are hoping Marley can find a home with someone who is active and likes to exercise. She would dearly love a visit to the beach or lake and would probably have no hesitation with a swimming pool. She has not been cat tested so that is an unknown, but she has been around the foster's grandchild whom she tended to ignore. We can test her in both areas if that is an issue for a potential adopter. If you think Marley should be your calming influence, please copy and attach this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. Full vetting included in her $325 adoption fee and transport from Louisianna is $185.We cannot be certain what her true mix is. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-21-00176Bearo (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

*SPECIAL NEEDS TRIPOD* 8 year old Bearo needs an ANGEL! Bearo lost the only home he had ever known when his owners retired and moved into a condo where dogs are not allowed. Although Bearo has been a tripod since getting hit by a car as a puppy, over the years he gained some weight and as it became harder for him to get around, he started scooting more than walking - which has left his hind leg in serious need of rehab to regain muscle strength. This situation could have been avoided if his previous owners had watched his weight and gotten him a proper harness..but as we can't change that now..we will endeavor to help Bearo regain that ... (Read More)function - he really wants to be mobile again. Bearo had extensive tests done at the vet today, including bloodwork, vaccinations and xrays and we feel with a loving new owner, one who is committed to getting about 10 lbs. off Bearo's frame, and working with him to get his leg back to full strength, Bearo should be able to walk much better again within a few weeks/months. Bearo has a nice new harness to assit him with walking that will help build up his weak back leg. If that proves to be unsuccessful, Bearo will have the use of a cart - bought for him by a loving Bearo fan! As you can see, Bearo is happy and wants to live out his full life in a loving home. He is good with cats and children and other nice doggies too. He has a great disposition. If you have room in your heart and home for Bearo, please email. He is in a very temp foster home right now in the Avon, MA area. There is no adoption fee for Bearo, but there will be an application requiring the usual reference checks and you must be able to provide a loving, stable home, committed to helping Bearo achieve maximum health and mobility. He will reward you with much love in return. (Less)

Rescue Dog Village is trying to raise funds to help save 11 Heartworm positive dogs that need a second chance. When RDV pulls a dog from the pound, we are responsible for their care. We don't know if they have HW or any other sickness. If we can't raise the funds we need, we will have to make a decision on who to treat. Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Heartworms are foot-long worms that live in the heart, lungs & associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing sever lung disease, heart failure & damage to other organs in the body. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell ... (Read More)each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 11 can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/heartworm-positive-dogs-second-chance/227234 GO TO RESCUE DOG VILLAGE AT: www.rescuedogvillage.com (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rica!!! Born 4/2014 RICA was saved from Dallas Animal Services. When they had picked her up she was extremely skinny and had an injured leg. However, during her time at the shelter her leg seemed to heal and when she came to GaDaH she was walking on it fine. RICA is slowly gaining weight and is really enjoying her time here at the rescue with the other puppies her age. She is very playful and of course at the phase of her life where she wants to chew on everything and anything that is within her reach she sees it as one of her toys. RICA is very responsive and affectionate and basic and advanced training is a must. RICA does still ... (Read More)have a good amount of weight to gain and will need a nutritious diet as she is highly active. As she reaches around 9mths old (teenage times) she would need lots of physical and mental exercise.     ECHO Female Black German Shepherd Dog Approx - 1 year old Spayed Rabies DHPP Bordetella Heartworm NEGATIVE Microchipped Weight: Approx 65 pounds ECHO is a gorgeous young Black German Shepherd Dog.     Lainer is a beautiful, petite German Shepherd mix (approx. 3 years old)who was saved from certain death at a kill shelter in Texas. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-15-00553Major (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

DoB approx 28 March 2012 MAJOR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services with bad skin infection and mange. He was malnourished and had sores on his feet. Within a month his mange had cleared up, his feet were better and he had started to gain weight. I did have concerns as it seemed that his coat wasn't growing back - HOWEVER, the past month his undercoat has started to come through and he is starting to look like the magnificent boy that he is. MAJOR still has quite a bit of hair to grow, but I believe that within a few months at the most he will have a nice healthy looking coat. It would benefit him to have a nice bath every few ... (Read More)weeks to help the growth. MAJOR is a great boy who weighs around 70-75 pounds, he does get excited and is very strong. He walks ok on a leash, but does pull at times, so some work in this area is very important. MAJOR has stayed in two homes with cats, the first home it was reported that he wouldn't stop chasing the cat. The 2nd home had FIVE cats and apart from the initial wanting to smell them, he didn't really bother with them, so I think with him it would be more if the cats are used to dogs he would be fine, if the cats are most likely to run, then he will most likely chase them. MAJOR is great with kids and when he stayed in the 2nd home he stayed with the 9 year old daughter and when he wasn't beside her he was watching her. He is more responsive to women than men, but that could be that he has lived with me at the rescue and so used to women being in charge :) MAJOR can at times seem to bully dogs, but as soon as a dog challenges him he immediately backs down. MAJOR has a great toy drive and he loves to chase the ball, or just play with his toys on his own. MAJOR is an all round great dog, he can be vocal when he wants attention, but that is typical of the GSD breed. MAJOR does need a family that understands the GSD mentality and needs and is able to provide him an active and mentally stimulating life. MAJOR's size and strength should be taken into account whilst considering taking MAJOR into your home, without proper training and having him respect his family, MAJOR could easily over power someone. We use Rescue Road Trips to bring our wonderful dogs from the rescue in south Texas to loving adopters up north. Please go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org to complete an application. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

CLOVIS was saved from San Antonio Animal Care services the day before he was due to be killed. This boy is just ALL Loving. And dashingly handsome, too! I believe he was previously an outside dog as he does need work on his manners, but he is learning quickly. CLOVIS does bark a lot when I leave, but again that I believe is because he was an outside dog before with no love or attention. CLOVIS is a great boy, he is a nice 50 pound size, he gets on well with other dogs although does try to dominate initially, but soon backs down if he is challenged, he also only just been neutered which could be the reason for this behavior and I'm sure ... (Read More)will calm down in a few weeks/months. CLOVIS will need some training, but his potential of being a fun, loving, energetic affectionate boy is huge. I mean just look at that smile. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

DENNY is a stunning white German Shepherd Dog that we have recently saved. He still has a lot of weight to gain and could easily reach around the 90 + pound weight. Denny's DOB is 9/2011 and his current weight is approx. 65 lbs. DENNY was at first nervous around the other dogs, however, within 24 hours he has taken to bossing them all around. He is a vocal boy, but this is a German Shepherd Dog trait. DENNY walks good on a leash, he does get excited and jumps up a little, but is easily corrected. He does pay attention and with correct guidance and training he will learn easily. DENNY did have a few accidents in the house when we first ... (Read More)brought him home, but has learnt to use the dog door now. I believe DENNY has been badly treated and was an outside dog. He will need some patience and understanding and lots and lots of the love and affection that he has not had much of, if any at all. Are you the very special person who will show Denny the loving kindness he needs? In return, you will experience the love and loyalty rescued dogs are known for! MERCURY is: German Shepherd Mix Male DoB: Estimated - 17 October 2013 Neutered Rabies Core Vaccines Heart-worm Micro-chipped Weight: approx 55 - 60 pounds MERCURY is a high energy boy, he loves to chase around, he LOVES water, he is very responsive and would be easy to follow through on his basic training. AS much as MERCURY is high energy he also loves to hang out and lie down beside me, he sleeps at the side of the bed. He loves to go for long walks and is great with kids. MERCURY has never shown any kind of aggression or negative behavior. Prior to his short foster period, he lived with 70 dogs and eats, sleeps and socializes with them all the time and there has never been any kind of issues. MERCURY has not yet been exposed to cats or any other kind of animals so I do not know how he would behave. I do, however, believe that letting him satisfy his curiosity and teaching him to respect the other animal, he would quickly learn how to behave around them. MERCURY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue. Our adoption application can be found by following the link: http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html We use Rescue Road Trips to transport these wonderful companions from our rescue in south TX to their forever homes up north. Transports always fill up fast, so apply today and you can be spoiling MERCURY in a few weeks! Transport cost is included in adoption fee. (Less)

What is most remarkable about Venus is how she struggled with her health and survived but not without leaving a toll on her. She sometimes stays by herself because love and attention is so new to her; she doesn't know what she is supposed to do or if it is going to stay in her life. We can all identify with that feeling and understand that it will take time for her to know that her new family will love her for her whole life. Right now she is happy lying in the shade, chewing on a bone and watching the activity of the other dogs in the yard; her expressions tell us that she is learning that life can be happy.
