Rescue Me ID: 14-11-23-00580SKI (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This absolutely stunning boy is Ski. He has it all; looks, brains, strength, and love to give. Ski is pushing 2 years old and 90 lbs. He was saved from a high kill shelter in south Texas and came into rescue at just 50 lbs. SKI is still a LOT of puppy so he will need an experienced GSD person or family that understands they will need to be his alpha whom he can respect and look up to. SKI will need an active family who understands and is willing to commit the time to meet his needs; being able to give him both the physical and, equally as important, the mental stimulation to keep him healthy and happy. SKI is neutered, up to date on ... (Read More)vacs, micro chipped and looking for his safe forever home in the Northeast. We will transport SKI home, to a very special and dedicated family, via Rescue Road Trips. His transportation is included in his $535 adoption fee. For additional information go to http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/ski.html. SKI thanks you for looking and wishes you and yours Happy Holidays. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-23-00477OWEN (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

OWEN is a handsome, sweet, gentle White German Shepherd Dog. He was found as a stray in the Poteet area of Texas. Taken to the vets and posted on lost and found sites, no microchip, no owners. So OWEN came to GaDaH. Owen was walking funny and had ear problems so I took him to the vets - he had bad yeast ear infection, which has been treated and cleared up. He also walked funny, which we thought was a problem with his paws but under examination it was deemed more of a neurological problem called 'over-stepping' which is where he cannot always associate how far the ground is away and so he over exaggerates his walk. This causes him ... (Read More)absolutely NO problem at all. OWEN runs and plays as well as all the other dogs, he just looks a little goofy in doing so. OWEN absolutely LOVES the water, he is so much fun to watch as his movements are over-exaggerated. OWEN is very affectionate and loving and would suit a family that had a big yard where he could run and play - a kiddie pool in the warm weather is a MUST as this gives him so much pleasure, so a family that can live with a dog that likes to get wet :) Due to his issue, OWEN obviously won't be a good candidate for a running companion and walking at a human pace could cause him discomfort, so OWEN would be best with a big back yard and rides to some great spots where he can explore and venture in new environments. OWEN does walk on the leash and is fine on short distances, but he does pull so would need some training and guidance. OWEN lives here at the rescue with all the other dogs and gets on with them great, he loves chasing the puppies and of course jumping and splashing in the kiddie pool. We do free feed here at the rescue and OWEN can be a bit grumpy when eating in that he will growl at the other dogs. Some dogs will walk away and come back when he has gone, other dogs just ignore him. He has never done anything other than vocal and I believe that is just from being a stray and having to fend for himself. He has never been aggressive at any time. OWEN has been estimated at 3~4 years old, he is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and tested heart-worm negative. The video posted was taken in June and shows OWEN with a lot of the rescue dogs. Some of these dogs have since been adopted, but it will give you an idea of OWEN's love of water and his gait. You can adopt Owen and give him a loving home in time for the holidays! We use Rescue Road Trips to bring our great dogs from the rescue in south Texas to loving adopters up north. Go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org to complete an adoption application. Transport space fills up quickly, so don't wait. Owen would like some really good treats in his Christmas stocking, but most of all, he'd love his very own fur-ever home! Adoption fee includes transport cost. (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This cutie is SHELBY and she is a Collie/Shepherd blend. She is a lively, happy and confident puppy that was saved out of shelter in the high kill state of Texas where she was suffering with a skin condition. Shelby is now safe in a private rescue. She tested negative for mange on two separate occasions, so an allergy and under-nourishment is most likely the cause. Since SHELBY has been with us, she has thrived. Her itching is getting less and less, and her hair is growing back nicely. Shelby will need a family that has time to guide and train her in having manners and appropriate behavior as she grows up into a smart, stunning ... (Read More)adult that she is to become. Shelby is spayed, up to date on vacs, and micro-chipped. Because she is too young she has not been tested for heartworm but she is on monthly prevention. Sweet little Shelby is dreaming of being home for the holidays with her own loving family safe in the Northeast. We will transport her via Rescue Road Trips, which is included in her adoption fee of $335.     RDV513-CP Oh my Adam! What do you say about an 11 month German shepherd male puppy that is not defined by just that, puppy? Our boy Adam is big, energetic, strong, energetic, beautiful, energetic, happy, energetic, loving, and energetic and did I mention that he was an energetic puppy. All kidding aside Adam is a wonderful portrait of the breed in all aspects, graceful, presence, athletic, intelligent, warm nature and an unshakable protective instinct.     Claw previously lived his life tied outside in the hot Louisiana sun, along with 3 or 4 other dogs. A volunteer from Patrick's Pals stopped by for 9 months with food, vaccinations and spoke with the family educating them about the proper environment a dog should live in. They agreed to surrender Claw and his sister so they could be part of our program. Claw is friendly, affectionate and listens very well. He tends to be a little cautious around children, because they are closer to his level and he just wants to say hello! He does well with other dogs. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE's mother was a pure bred German Shepherd and her puppies (born Dec. 2012) contracted distemper. All the pups were given the distemper serum and antibiotics and did very well. BELLE had neurological complications that were caught early on and she had surgery that was 100% successful. Belle has NO neurological side effects of distemper! However this did cause Belle to loose most of her ... (Read More)teeth. This does not hinder her in anyway at all. She happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. Belle, the survivor, knows how to use the dog door, is spayed, current on vacs, micro chipped and is looking for a loving forever on the East coast. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our 60-pound country girl, Marley, has the disposition of her namesake with none of the quirky antics. Marley has just graduated 'boot camp' and is ready to assume her rightful position as a valued family member. Our version of boot camp is a 4-6 week stay at a local volunteer's property where the shelter dogs can be assessed and problem areas addressed. When Marley first arrived, she could not navigate a steep set of stairs (challenging to some humans, too) and would wait for the foster to come get her when going either up or down. Now she flies up and down the stairs with ease. After playing outside, she comes in the house, goes ... (Read More)immediately to her blanket and settles down to watch TV. Marley is about 3 yrs old , is UTD on all shots, and is HW negative. She is good on a leash, likes to ride in the car and absolutely ADORES swimming. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and even seems to have a calming influence on them, as she is quiet and rarely barks. She is housebroken and seems to respond well to commands. In fact, the foster said she actually does better when given a command, as if she prefers instruction. We are hoping Marley can find a home with someone who is active and likes to exercise. She would dearly love a visit to the beach or lake and would probably have no hesitation with a swimming pool. We can test her in both areas if that is an issue for a potential adopter. If you think Marley should be your calming influence, please copy and attach this link to your web browser to fill out our online application, http://members.petfinder.com/~CT243/sampleform.html. Full vetting included in her $325 adoption fee and transport from Louisianna is $185.We cannot be certain what her true mix is. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-21-00176Bearo (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

*SPECIAL NEEDS TRIPOD* 8 year old Bearo needs an ANGEL! Bearo lost the only home he had ever known when his owners retired and moved into a condo where dogs are not allowed. Although Bearo has been a tripod since getting hit by a car as a puppy, over the years he gained some weight and as it became harder for him to get around, he started scooting more than walking - which has left his hind leg in serious need of rehab to regain muscle strength. This situation could have been avoided if his previous owners had watched his weight and gotten him a proper harness..but as we can't change that now..we will endeavor to help Bearo regain that ... (Read More)function - he really wants to be mobile again. Bearo had extensive tests done at the vet today, including bloodwork, vaccinations and xrays and we feel with a loving new owner, one who is committed to getting about 10 lbs. off Bearo's frame, and working with him to get his leg back to full strength, Bearo should be able to walk much better again within a few weeks/months. Bearo has a nice new harness to assit him with walking that will help build up his weak back leg. If that proves to be unsuccessful, Bearo will have the use of a cart - bought for him by a loving Bearo fan! As you can see, Bearo is happy and wants to live out his full life in a loving home. He is good with cats and children and other nice doggies too. He has a great disposition. If you have room in your heart and home for Bearo, please email. He is in a very temp foster home right now in the Avon, MA area. There is no adoption fee for Bearo, but there will be an application requiring the usual reference checks and you must be able to provide a loving, stable home, committed to helping Bearo achieve maximum health and mobility. He will reward you with much love in return. (Less)

Rescue Dog Village is trying to raise funds to help save 11 Heartworm positive dogs that need a second chance. When RDV pulls a dog from the pound, we are responsible for their care. We don't know if they have HW or any other sickness. If we can't raise the funds we need, we will have to make a decision on who to treat. Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Heartworms are foot-long worms that live in the heart, lungs & associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing sever lung disease, heart failure & damage to other organs in the body. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell ... (Read More)each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 11 can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/heartworm-positive-dogs-second-chance/227234 GO TO RESCUE DOG VILLAGE AT: www.rescuedogvillage.com (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sara is a young adult female shepherd mix available for adoption. We love to watch her bounce around the yard tossing her favorite toys around for herself.Sara does not like all other dogs but does do well with other mellower dogs.Sara is a high energy girl who would do best with a large fenced in yard or regular long walks. She would thrive with someone or a family with previous experience owning a dog. She is up to date on her shots & spayed. Sara is crated and clicker trained and often works on improving her obedience skills. Sara is a lady willing to please who just needs a little direction.
