Rescue Me ID: 14-10-16-00018Mystique (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

DOB Jan 2014 MYSTIQUE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Shelter as an URGENT medical case. She had a 16inch wound on the underside of her leg and abdomen. It was through the skin and some muscle. MYSTIQUE underwent several surgeries to have the wound stitched up. It couldn't be stitched up all at once with the wound being so large as the skin would have just ripped open again. When all surgeries were complete, which were performed over a period of 3 weeks we brought MYSTIQUE into the rescue. MYSTIQUE is a loving, affectionate, high energy girl. Her wound healed fully and she is just as active and agile as the other dogs we have. MYSTIQUE ... (Read More)does pull a lot on the leash and jumps when she is excited, but with some one on one training and structure this will be easy to correct. MYSTIQUE gets on great with other dogs, she is very playful and happy, she loves to run around and expel some of that energy her body seems to be always creating. MYSTIQUE would suit an active family who are able to provide her lots of physical, but also mental exercise and stimulation. MYSTIQUE is a great age to start any kind of training or sports, agility, tracking, maybe even dock-diving.     DoB Approx 1 March 2013 VELLACIO was found on a bridge by some good samaritans and so named her VELLACIO (meaning Bridge in Italian). VELLACIO was a sweet girl who was at first intimidated by all the big dogs, but it didn't take her long to learn to trust and romp around with the puppies. VELLACIO is living with her foster mum, who has been working on her manners and leash training, she would walk on a leash but liked to get in between your legs, now she walks great and is doing well in her training classes. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LYDIA was saved from Grand Prairie Animal Shelter. She has been aged at 3 years, however, she acts much younger than that. LYDIA was very scared when she first came to rescue but after some time with a few of the pack and me she adjusted fairly quickly. Now she can't keep still, is happy and just wants to play, she has a lot of puppy in her, which could be her just being over excited at being out of the kill shelter and somewhere safe, or it could be that she is more likely around 12-18mths old. LYDIA has been great with the other dogs and is very affectionate. She likes to push through the other dogs to get some love and attention and ... (Read More)is very responsive. LYDIA will need some basic and advanced training, she does jump up a little but this is an easy fix with some positive training.     Rescue Dog Village is trying to raise funds to help save 11 Heartworm positive dogs that need a second chance. When RDV pulls a dog from the pound, we are responsible for their care. We don't know if they have HW or any other sickness. If we can't raise the funds we need, we will have to make a decision on who to treat. Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Heartworms are foot-long worms that live in the heart, lungs & associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing sever lung disease, heart failure & damage to other organs in the body. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell ... (Read More)each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 11 can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/heartworm-positive-dogs-second-chance/227234 GO TO RESCUE DOG VILLAGE AT: www.rescuedogvillage.com (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rica!!! Born 4/2014 RICA was saved from Dallas Animal Services. When they had picked her up she was extremely skinny and had an injured leg. However, during her time at the shelter her leg seemed to heal and when she came to GaDaH she was walking on it fine. RICA is slowly gaining weight and is really enjoying her time here at the rescue with the other puppies her age. She is very playful and of course at the phase of her life where she wants to chew on everything and anything that is within her reach she sees it as one of her toys. RICA is very responsive and affectionate and basic and advanced training is a must. RICA does still ... (Read More)have a good amount of weight to gain and will need a nutritious diet as she is highly active. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

STASHA (DOB 5/2011) was saved from Dallas Animal Services, she was extremely fearful and didn't want me going near her. Over time STASHA came to trust and now gets all excited and happy when I am spending time with her. STASHA is a laid back girl, who loves to get and give lots of love and affection. She is good on a leash, she does jump up a little when excited, but I think she is just so happy to be alive. STASHA is good with other dogs, she prefers to be with her human than running around being crazy, but still enjoys their company and does play with them. STASHA will enjoy a family that has time to let her grow to trust them, they will ... (Read More)understand that it will take her time to warm up to them and they must allow her to adapt in her own time. STASHA is a good age where she still needs and loves nice long walks, hikes and rides out in the car, however, she doesn't have that crazy level of energy that needs to be channeled. STASHA did have heart-worm disease when she was saved, however, she has had the treatment and did great with no complications or problems. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ECHO is a gorgeous young Black German Shepherd Dog. She was saved from Brazoria County Sherrif's pound. She did have demodex mange just around her left eye, but this has almost cleared up with treatment and she is looking as stunning as ever now. ECHO is a great young girl, she is very loving and affectionate, she will alert to any noise, and is eager to go and investigate. She is happy to play with the other dogs and pups of all ages and sizes and plays to their level, rough with the older ones, but more gentle with the smaller ones. ECHO does get very excited and although walks good on a leash, she does pull a little and jumps up with ... ECHO will need a family that understands the GSD mentality and who will be able to give her the mental and physical exercise that she needs as she grows up.     Lainer is a beautiful, petite German Shepherd mix who was saved from certain death at a kill shelter in Texas. What a waste that would have been because as you can see, she is one gorgeous gal! Lainer is seeking a home that will have patience with her as she is a bit shy. Once she is settled in, she will bond to you very quickly and make an excellent family companion. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-15-00553Major (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

DoB approx 28 March 2012 MAJOR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services with bad skin infection and mange. He was malnourished and had sores on his feet. Within a month his mange had cleared up, his feet were better and he had started to gain weight. I did have concerns as it seemed that his coat wasn't growing back - HOWEVER, the past month his undercoat has started to come through and he is starting to look like the magnificent boy that he is. MAJOR still has quite a bit of hair to grow, but I believe that within a few months at the most he will have a nice healthy looking coat. It would benefit him to have a nice bath every few ... (Read More)weeks to help the growth. MAJOR is a great boy who weighs around 70-75 pounds, he does get excited and is very strong. He walks ok on a leash, but does pull at times, so some work in this area is very important. MAJOR has stayed in two homes with cats, the first home it was reported that he wouldn't stop chasing the cat. The 2nd home had FIVE cats and apart from the initial wanting to smell them, he didn't really bother with them, so I think with him it would be more if the cats are used to dogs he would be fine, if the cats are most likely to run, then he will most likely chase them. MAJOR is great with kids and when he stayed in the 2nd home he stayed with the 9 year old daughter and when he wasn't beside her he was watching her. He is more responsive to women than men, but that could be that he has lived with me at the rescue and so used to women being in charge :) MAJOR can at times seem to bully dogs, but as soon as a dog challenges him he immediately backs down. MAJOR has a great toy drive and he loves to chase the ball, or just play with his toys on his own. MAJOR is an all round great dog, he can be vocal when he wants attention, but that is typical of the GSD breed. MAJOR does need a family that understands the GSD mentality and needs and is able to provide him an active and mentally stimulating life. MAJOR's size and strength should be taken into account whilst considering taking MAJOR into your home, without proper training and having him respect his family, MAJOR could easily over power someone. We use Rescue Road Trips to bring our wonderful dogs from the rescue in south Texas to loving adopters up north. Please go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org to complete an application. However, her foster had some things come up and now Marley is back in a kill facility. Marley is very sweet but shy and isn't doing well in the big scary kill facility. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

CLOVIS was saved from San Antonio Animal Care services the day before he was due to be killed. This boy is just ALL Loving. And dashingly handsome, too! I believe he was previously an outside dog as he does need work on his manners, but he is learning quickly. CLOVIS does bark a lot when I leave, but again that I believe is because he was an outside dog before with no love or attention. CLOVIS is a great boy, he is a nice 50 pound size, he gets on well with other dogs although does try to dominate initially, but soon backs down if he is challenged, he also only just been neutered which could be the reason for this behavior and I'm sure ... (Read More)will calm down in a few weeks/months. CLOVIS will need some training, but his potential of being a fun, loving, energetic affectionate boy is huge. I mean just look at that smile.     JOSIE (DOB - Jan 2014, weighs 30 lbs) is a very confident, larger than life, happy, did I mention confident?, young pup. She thinks nothing about going to play tug with 4 or 5 of the adult dogs.     DENNY is a stunning white German Shepherd Dog that we have recently saved. He still has a lot of weight to gain and could easily reach around the 90 + pound weight. Denny's DOB is 9/2011 and his current weight is approx. 65 lbs. DENNY was at first nervous around the other dogs, however, within 24 hours he has taken to bossing them all around. He is a vocal boy, but this is a German Shepherd Dog trait. DENNY walks good on a leash, he does get excited and jumps up a little, but is easily corrected. He does pay attention and with correct guidance and training he will learn easily. DENNY did have a few accidents in the house when we first ...     High energy German Shepard. Loves to play fetch or just relax with a ball by your feet. He does not have any medical problems. we just moved here from NC and had him checked from top to bottom. The Adoption fee is only to cover his neutering survey he received 3 months ago, but we are willing to waive that fee if he goes to the right home.     Look at adorable little Roxy! This young lady is about 9 months old & 30 lbs (we don't know how big she will get at full growth) and has had a rough start to her short life. As a baby, she had a broken femur surgically repaired, and 18' of intestine removed due to a severe blockage. This resulted in stunted growth for this little shepherd girl, and it is likely she will need a grain free novel protein diet and probiotics daily for life. Nothing slows Roxy down, though!!
