Hi, my name is Finnigan and I am 2 year old Shepherd mix. I came into the shelter as a transfer. I am very smart and loveable. Will you spend time with me and train me? I need a family that will love on me forever. I promise to love you forever and be your protector. I would go great as a family dog. I love to cuddle and play! Ask all my friends here. Please take me home. If you would like to meet me just talk to one of the counselor and my adoption fee is $136.

Animal ID: A34478824Leo (male)
Introducing Leo! This guy is new to us so we are still learning about him, but so far he has gotten along with the dogs he has met here, we still don't know about cats. He is very polite and wants to be with people. He loves to play with toys and can be a little timid at first but warms up quickly. Leo will need to work on some house training, but he is super smart and willing to learn, so with some work in this area he should do fine. Leo is very attentive and we think he will make a really great dog for someone!

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-04-00240Catcher (male)
Catcher is in the building! He is so very handsome, isn't he? This 7 year old German Shepherd has been through a lot of change recently and is looking for a calm, permanent home of his very home. Originally pulled from a high kill shelter in California, Catcher made his way to another rescue and foster situation in Washington state. After a failed adoption, he found himself at another shelter, then on a transport back down to southern California. A brief stay in boarding was next, then another transport to several other states before arriving here in Idaho. Did you follow all that? We're exhausted just thinking about it. When Catcher arrived, we placed him in a foster home to decompress. If anyone deserved that break, it was definitely Catcher. Foster mom, Brenda, says, 'I have discovered that when he gets comfortable, he begins to find his place by becoming the alpha dog. He loves people a lot, he just becomes jealous if he isn't the one getting all the attention. He doesn't do well with cats. He has been great about being house trained. He keeps his kennel clean. I wouldn't leave him out when no one is home and when he is outside, he barks to let you know when he is ready to come in. He is a great 4 am alarm clock too -- that is when he starts barking and wanting to go outside and then be fed.' Catcher will be a great companion for a family who either wants to make him the center of their world or who is willing to very slowly introduce him to other dogs and integrate him into a multidog household. He has lived with other dogs more than once, but he needs a dog savvy family to make that work. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-26-00021Lila (female)
Very friendly, but not with large males dogs. Didn't bother our Dachshunds much but was nice. Still a virgin dog. Playful, used to sleeping in house if able, house broken. Loves to play keep away or fetch, mostly prefers to take the ball and make you run after her. Has some spots on her eyes but sees well from what we can tell. Leash is so so, as we have had her on five acres all her life so she stayed in a fenced property and knew her boundary limits with it, did leash with her when outside property lines and listened. Barks at large wildlife, deer, moose, bear if in the area. Ignores squirrels mostly and ignores turkeys, or has never attacked them ever, just watched them when they came in the yard. Other questions just send to my email. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-30-00429Abbie (female)
Abbie is a sweet, five year old, pure bred female German Shepherd. She is great around our family. Very fun loving and protective, but she is not good around new people or animals. She loves playing fetch and getting soaked with the hose. We moved 1 year ago to a rural setting where she is surrounded by new people and especially animals, and Abbie has not been able to adjust. She is fine with my wife and I, and our kids, but she goes nuts when someone new visits. She is fine with our other dog, but she goes crazy if she smells or sees another animal. Her surroundings are completely stressing her out (pacing/barking/whining all the time). It's not fair to her, and she needs a better situation. (Less)

German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
