Cate DOB: May 24, 2014 Breed: German Shepherd/Boxer Baby - Female - Large I am Cate. I am one of 7 lucky puppies that were rescued from Kentucky. Our mother is a beautiful and gentle German shepherd that was not treated properly by her owners, so she was taken away from them. As soon as Casey's heard about our family they came to our rescue and brought us to Illinois where they knew we would be safe. We were placed in foster care where we have been since we were 3 weeks old. I enjoy playing with my foster sister (a giant black lab) and my real brothers and sisters. We play with ropes, balls, newspaper, and just about anything we can find. We ... (Read More)are a very affectionate group of pups and because of this we sometimes fight over who gets cuddle with our foster family. My foster mom calls me 'Princess Cate' because I am definitely royalty! I sit tall and beautiful, as every girl should. I help my foster family keep my 5 brothers in line! I enjoy being the center of attention, which sometimes can be difficult with 6 siblings who also like the same thing. When I'm not dealing with the boys I am a sweet girl that loves to cuddle, play, and give kisses. I have a medium brown coat that has a slight brindle to it in some spots (depending on the light) and a black face. I am still very young and need someone to be home with me most of the day. I still do not always know right from wrong, will be starting potty training this week but will probably still have accidents as I learn, and I cry when I am alone. I am very energetic and will be a large dog, so patience, understanding, and a will to train is a must if you want to adopt me. I am ready to give all my love to a family! His adoption fee is $295 and includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email Kathy for an application at caseysdogs@yahoo.com. Please join us August 23, 2014 for our 'Wag-a-thon' at the Peg Bond Center in Batavia, IL. It is one of our main fundraisers this year and we need walkers! Please consider bringing your dog, your family and friends. Registration is only $25 and you receive a t-shirt. The walk-a-thon will help us pay down our veterinary bills for the dogs and puppies we have rescued this summer. We have saved 3 dogs with broken legs that have needed orthopedic care, 9 Heartworm positive dogs that have now been treated, one puppy that is blind and deaf, 5 dogs that were 9+ years and needed extensive medical care and 20+ moms with their puppies. This is in addition to the adult dogs that have come in emaciated, needing dental, and of course all needing spay and neuter, shots and micro-chipping. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning and earn a T-shirt to boot! If you have adopted from Casey's Safe Haven Dog Rescue and 485 of you have; we would love to have you join our walk and bring your pup for updated photos. We will have a professional photographer there for pictures! For those of you that are competitive you can win prizes by asking others to sponsor your walk. (You do not have to raise additional money to walk) When you register you make a personal webpage to share with friends, family and coworkers - great prizes for our top pledge earners. But again, you can walk with only your $25 registration fee! This is a beautiful walk along the River and only two walks were allowed this year. We received one of the spots; help us make this a success. We hope to see you there! Register Now at: www.caseyswagathon.dojiggy.com (Less)

My foster mom says that I am the mischievous one'|even though I started off not caring much about anyone but my mom. Now, I am always at her feet. If there is a puppy around it is probably me. I love to hang on her pant leg to get her attention. Once I have it, I give tons of kisses! She says she can't get mad at me because I always look sad and innocent, which is really just the coloring in my face (and it works to my advantage). I can be the ringleader of the litter and often get my siblings into trouble. When I am tired I like to snuggle. In the end they say I am a typical puppy and as sweet as they come!      Hi! My name is Emma! I'm a 8 month old, 28 lb puppy, with a great disposition and I am looking for someone to love me forever. Am I a golden? Am I a shepherd? It doesn't matter because I'm blond and beautiful! I love playing with other dogs and my humans, and get along with everyone! I have been on a lot of walks since leaving the pound and I do real well with my harness and leash. Although I'm a puppy, I have a 'mature' bark but I don't use it very often. I am doing really well with house training. I only have an accident if my humans aren't paying attention to my signals. I sleep all night in and out of a crate so I won't keep you ... (Read More)up at nite! I may be blond but I am very smart! If you are looking for a brainy, beautiful blond bombshell then I am your girl!!!     Molly, 5.5 month old Shep/Mountain Curr mix. Molly is a smart, sweet little dog. She was found at 8 weeks old under a car with her sister. They were both bald from manage and sick. A wonderful foster home took them in and nursed them back to health. We do not know what happened during her first 8 weeks of life but she was terrified of people. She has come a long way in 3 months and now loves and craves human company. Molly wants to be with you at all times and is happy to sit quietly by your side or to take long walks, She is still timid and fast movements cause her to shy away so she will need to continue her socialization and puppy ... German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cinnamon is a two-year-old, 80-pound, sweet, smart, well-trained, loyal and protective female German Shepherd/Labrador-mix looking for a loving guardian. Cinnamon is okay with select other dogs, but would probably be best as the one and only dog in the home. She does however live peacefully with a 10-year-old cat. In the home Cinnamon is protective, outside the home, after her initial bark, she is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone she meets. She knows the commands sit, down, paw and takes treats extremely gently from your fingers. During the day, Cinnamon is a couch potato, happy to lounge the day away. However, she is also strong ... (Read More)and athletic and would rise to the occasion if you want a jogging buddy. Cinnamon was adopted from a shelter a year ago and has been a loving and loyal companion for her family. She loves the mom, dad and small children (2 and 5) that she lives with. She has been through extensive training, however the family can't break her of her protectiveness and her big bark scares away daily visitors to her home. So the family thinks she'll be happier with a family with fewer visitors and older children. Cinnamon is housebroken, crate-trained, good on leash and in the car. She will do best with a German Shepherd-lover who knows the breed and can work with her protectiveness. She is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Cinnamon, please contact Sara at sara.strasser@gmail.com or 312-718-0640. She is currently living in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago. Her adoption fee of $150 includes her belongings and supports animal rescue. (Less)

Luna is a very beautiful, sweet, snuggly and active, nine-year-old, 62-pound, female White German Shepherd with three legs looking for a loving guardian. Luna was found running stray near Lincoln and Kimball in Chicago on May 28th. Despite the fact that she is micro-chipped, all attempts to find her original guardian have been unsuccessful. She was adopted from the Sangamon County Animal Control nine years ago. We don't know what happened to her leg, but running stray, she could easily have been hit by a car. With only three legs, Luna still runs fast! In the home, she's perfectly housebroken, non-destructive and a lovely couch potato ... (Read More)who enjoys resting on the couch. In the yard, she chases squirrels and bunnies. She has a big scary bark which is typical of a shepherd, but once you get to know her, it is all bluff and bravado. She loves treats and they are certainly the way to her heart; she takes them appreciatively and very gently from your fingers. She is strong and strong-willed and good with select dogs - typically submissive males. Luna is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and fecal-tested. To meet and possibly adopt Luna, please contact her foster mom Aggie at adorosz@yahoo.com or 773-980-0250. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits rescued pets. Clyde is a typical german shepherd who isn't sure about strangers on his property and at first will bark. He requires a calm and confident person to bring out the best in him. He is very intelligent! One of those 'too smart for his own good', and to smart for the average family. He would be wonderful to teach search and rescue or another job, he is very capable. He is about 5 years old and was ... (Read More)picked up as a stray with another purebred GSD. He loves to be brushed! He can climb out of a 4 foot fence but doesn't because he knows he isn't suppose to. Very smart dog! Must be a confident experienced person to be able to adopt him. Contract and Vet number required for a reference. He has UTD vaccinations and is negative for heart worms. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-11-25-00538Capone (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Capone is a handsome, affectionate, playful, active and energetic, two-year-old, 65-pound, brindle and white, male American Bulldog/German Shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian. Capone has such great ears that his nickname is Bat Dog. The poor guy got off to a very rough start to his life; he and his littermates almost succumbed to Parvo. The vet chose to treat the sick puppies with the antibiotic Baytril which helped Capone fight infection, but damaged his hips. So, by the age of 18 months, he had surgery on both hips. You'd hardly know it now because he's still a happy, playful guy who gets the zoomies '| runs, jumps and plays! ... (Read More)Capone is living in a foster home where he is perfecting his housebreaking. He's 90% there! He already knows the commands sit and down and walks nicely on leash. He's also great in the car. He is a very loyal and loving dog who is looking for an experienced dog-lover who can deal with a fearful and protective dog. Capone does best with someone who will work with him and give him structure. Capone can be a bit dog selective. So, he'd be great as the only dog in your world, or he could live with another dog, but it's got to be the right dog. He is currently sharing his foster home with two Rottweilers with whom he gets along. He has not been cat-tested. To meet and possibly adopt Capone, please contact the K94Keeps Rescue at info@k94keeps.org or 312-221-9285. Capone is now healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $250 includes professional training sessions, and benefits the rescued dogs of K9 4 Keeps Rescue. (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dandy was dumped on the highway and then hit by a car. We were called and had her displaced hip put back in. Unfortunately it did not stay and we had to have one of her rear legs amputated. She is happy, because she is no longer in pain. She gets around just fine minus one leg. She is a sweet dog and travels well. We didn't have the heart to put her down. She is obedient and affectionate. She is also intelligent and even tempered. She is currently in foster care, but would love her own home!
