Meet Nala, a beautiful, friendly and very loving 3-4-year-old black German Shepherd in need of a loving home. Nala originally came to Pal's Place rescue from a high kill shelter in KY in 2016. She was fostered by a wonderful family who quickly fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. Things were going great until recently when their older female Boxer mix decided Nala was no longer welcome in the home. Unfortunately, we do see older females sometimes decide they've had enough of younger females in the home, even if they've coexisted peacefully for years together. In the interest of everyone's safety, the tearful decision was made to ... (Read More)re-home Nala. Nala loves other dogs and loves to play. Her previous family had another male dog that was best buddies with her and they also fostered multiple dogs of all ages/sizes over the course of Nala's two years with them and she welcomed everyone into the home. While Nala gets along very well with other dogs, we will not take the chance of placing her in a home with another female dog again. We do not want to put her in a situation where thing may not work out again years down the road. We DO however want to place Nala into a home with at least one other male dog for her to play with. She has always lived with multiple other dogs and really enjoys their companionship. We do not think she'd do well in a home as the only dog. Nala also loves children and will be a great family companion! She is housebroken and crate trained. She is quiet and well behaved in the home when her family is present but can sometimes be a bit mischevious when left to her own devices, so she is still crated when left home alone. Nala is an absolute gem of a dog that will make any Shepherd lover very happy! Nala is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved. For more information or for an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com 'ۢNala's adoption donation is $275. This donation helps to cover her spay, initial vaccines, initial worming and microchip. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the pets in our care. Your donation also helps save other animals like Nala from euthanasia. 'ۢ Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and please put the name of the dog in the subject line. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder; sometimes the applications end up in there! 'ۢ All of our dogs are in foster homes are can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, after an approved application has been received. To receive more info please email palsplace1@hotmail.com.     LOOKING FOR A RUNNING PARTNER? WE HAVE THE DOG FOR YOU!!! Nellie was found as a stray in So. IL. Our rescue pulled her from the kill shelter and she was quickly adopted by a family with two other dogs. Unfortunately, Nellie was returned to us after 15 months in her home. Nellie is dog selective. She does okay with some dogs, but definitely not with dominant dogs so we think it best if she go to a home where she can be an only dog. We have also discovered that Nellie LOVES having a crate for herself more than any dog we have ever known. Telling Nellie she can't have her own crate is like telling a teenager she can't have her own room. Nellie ... (Read More)is a VERY SPECIAL AND TRULY KIND HEARTED, We do not recommend that Nellie be in a home with kids (or grandkids) under 12 years old. I have ears that go on for days, and my love-filled eyes just beg you to love me. But looks aren't everything, and I have to say my tender personality is ... (Read More)even better than my stunning good looks! I came to Fetching Tails Foundation thanks to my friends at the Tunica Humane Society in Mississippi. I was saved from the stray life after I had a litter of puppies on the porch of a good samaritan who called the shelter. Once my puppies were old enough to travel, we made our way to Chicagoland to find loving homes; now that my babies have been adopted I am ready to find my dream life, too! I hope to find a patient family who will help me come out of my shell and continue to blossom into the happy, confident girl I am meant to be! I was shy when I was first rescued, but thanks to my loving foster family, I am learning to enjoy the good things in life like playing with toys and going for fun walks around the neighborhood. One of my favorite games is to carry shoes around the house; I don't chew or destroy them, I just move them to where I think my foster parents will want to find them! I am demure when I first meet new people, but once I know you I adore you and am very loving and sweet, with a sense of humor, too! I also really love other dogs, and think it would be fun to have a canine companion to play with at my forever home! I get along with cats, but am playful with them so as long as a kitty cat likes my silliness we could be buddies, too. A fenced yard would be nice, too, because I love exploring and sniffing around a nice yard! I am a very smart girl and mild-mannered, as well. I am crate trained and consider it my safe space where I enjoy taking naps even when the door is open! I do fine resting and relaxing in my crate during the day while my foster parents are at work. I am also potty trained, too! I am a treat motivated girl and love to learn, so I think it would be great fun if we could take some training classes together; my foster momma thinks I would especially love an agility training class and that sounds like fun to me! Fetching Tails encourages all adopters to sign up for training sessions with their new pets, and I think it would be an excellent opportunity for us to work on our bond together and me to gain confidence while proving what a scholar I am! More than anything, I dream about having a happy, love-filled life with a patient family to call my own. I am ready to soak up your attention and live the life of luxury by your side! If you think I could be the perfect pretty girl to be your new best furry friend, please get in touch with Fetching Tails soon and tell them Sheba is the queen for you! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Howdy! My name is Hermes, and I am an extra special young dude who is looking for a superstar family with whom to enjoy life's adventures! I am a 5-month-old shepherd/Carolina dog mix, and I am a super handsome little fella, if I could be so bold! I currently weigh in at about 30 pounds but have a little more growing to do. I think I will be a medium-sized doggie when full grown, maybe weighing in around 40-50 pounds. I have super soft blond fur with a distinguished black muzzle on my face. My ears that stand at attention are ... (Read More)pretty cute, too, right? They really help me hear how often you tell me you love me! I came to Fetching Tails Foundation all the way from Mississippi. My siblings and I were rescued from under an abandoned mobile home by the nice ladies from the Tunica Humane Society, and we got to make the trip to Chicagoland for a better chance at finding loving homes. I have had the best time learning and growing in my foster home! I have a big canine sister, FTF alumnus Dutchie, who shows me the ropes about how to enjoy the life of luxury in a loving home. I get along with doggies of all sizes; I am a submissive pup that takes cues very well from my canine friends and respects their boundaries! I think it would be so fun to have a doggie BFF in my forever home; I even love to snuggle with Dutchie and sleep with her on her doggie bed at night. For a puppy, I am also pretty chill: I enjoy playing tug of war and chewing on appropriate toys and chews (my favorite chew is an elk antler...I hope my forever home has an unlimited supply!), but am also very content to snuggle up with foster momma on the couch while we watch our favorite shows on the TV. I might seem a little shy at first, but once I know you I am very happy to see you and am all tail wags and smiles. I make all my favorite people laugh with my signature greeting: if you get down low I will run to you with a wiggly butt, head tilt, and silly smile! I would be a great addition to any family and would be good with kids, too. Did I mention yet how well-behaved I am? I am super smart and know what go to bed/my crate means and will do so with minimal fussing (by minimal fussing I mean I lay down and relax for a nap right away!) I also know how to sit on command already, too! Since I am a puppy, I am still working on perfecting potty training; I will need continued guidance to do my business outside but currently use potty pads and know to go on them so I don't have any accidents in the house. My foster mommy works from home so I am not currently left alone very long, but when she is gone I do fine resting comfortably in my crate. Fetching Tails Foundation requires all adopters of puppies to sign us up for training classes so we continue to learn while we grow, and I am such a scholar that I just can't wait to see how many more tricks and commands we can master together! Now, I do need to tell you about some of my special needs. I have a condition that is called megaesophagus, which is a congenital condition where the esophagus remains enlarged instead of contracting and prevents food from passing through the esophagus into the stomach. I know, I know, that sounds a little scary, but believe me when I say it is not a fatal condition and with proper care and attention I will live a long, happy life! I am on a medication that I will likely need for the rest of my life, and I enjoy eating three meals a day in my special upright position to help food move down my esophagus into my belly. Remember when I said I am very smart? I learned how and where to stand to eat very fast and am now always ready and waiting when foster mommy gets my food ready! I am a pretty extraordinary, happy-go-lucky guy who would make any family lucky enough to adopt me smile every day with my sweetness and playfulness. If you think you could be the special family to give me the life I have dreamed about, please get in touch with Fetching Tails Foundation soon and tell them Hermes is the handsome fella for you! Rescue Me ID: 17-10-07-00452Wilson (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Wilson is a handsome, tall, loyal, and very strong, 70-pound, male, shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian. Wilson was living with an elderly woman who passed away in her home. Sadly, he was found days later in the home with her dead body. He was brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control where he was almost euthanized. Lucky for him, Famous Fido's came to his rescue. Once you know Wilson, he is such a loving and smart dog. He is full of tail wags and kisses for those he adores. He is extremely protective of his people and afraid of those that he does not know, so you can just imagine how petrified he was in a cage in a crowded ... (Read More)shelter. The woman Wilson lived with was a recluse and a hoarder, so she had no visitors and Wilson had no exposure to anyone but his best friend. Wilson would do best with an experienced and patient dog-lover willing to continue his training. (Less)
