Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Camilla is one of my very favorite dogs at the whole shelter. She is a one-year-old shepherd-mix with the softest fur and the sweetest eyes. She is calm, easy to handle, gentle and affectionate. She already knows the commands sit, down and paw and she takes treats very gently from from your fingers. This skinny girl also loves other dogs and plays well in play groups at the shelter. She is full of kisses and tail wags for dogs and humans. She comes right over and leans into you for love and snuggles. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mason is a one-year-old, high energy, toy and food-motivated male shepherd-mix who was confiscated on June 17th from his previous owner. His tail is always wagging and he rolls on his back for belly rubs. He is friendly with other dogs, but he gets overwhelmed in a play group; he's best one on one. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hannah came from a high kill shelter in Alabama, along with her 3 pups. The pups have all been adopted and now it is time for Hannah to find her forever home. Hannah is a young girl about 1 %BD years. We are not sure of her mix maybe some boxer, lab, shepherd? Hannah can be a little bit shy when she first meets people, but once she knows you, she will melt in your arms. She does great playing with other dogs, but is just as content playing with her toys by herself. Hannah is crate trained and house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out. We are working on basic commands and since she loves her treats mastering theses ... (Read More)skills should not take long. Hannah has yet to master the leash. She seems to be a little fearful of it but we try a little bit more every day and having another dog companion along, seems to give her have more confidence. She rarely barks, is mildly playful, a little bit mellow and so full of love to give. . Animal ID: ccars-391Dandy (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dandy was abandoned and hit by a car. We took her to the vet on a Sunday afternoon as an emergency, because her hip was dislocated. Her hip did not stay in, so we were forced with the decision to amputate her leg or euthanize her. Having already spent $170 to put her hip back in and sent her into foster, we were committed to her. We decided to pay to get her leg removed and save her life. That cost $405 for surgery, meds and xrays.$575 was a lot to spend on a dog someone discarded, but she is a sweet dog,and this was a case where we didn't have the heart to declare her life wasn't worth it. Dandy's medical expenses were sponsored, and her ... (Read More)adoption fee is only $50. Dandy doesn't like to be alone, but she doesn't like all dogs. Potential adopters with dogs need to bring their dog to see if they get along. Dandy does NOT like cats, so she is not suitable for a home with cats. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Emma! I'm a 8 month old, 28 lb puppy, with a great disposition and I am looking for someone to love me forever. Am I a golden? Am I a shepherd? It doesn't matter because I'm blond and beautiful! I love playing with other dogs and my humans, and get along with everyone! I have been on a lot of walks since leaving the pound and I do real well with my harness and leash. Although I'm a puppy, I have a 'mature' bark but I don't use it very often. I am doing really well with house training. I only have an accident if my humans aren't paying attention to my signals. I sleep all night in and out of a crate so I won't keep you ...     Molly, 5.5 month old Shep/Mountain Curr mix. Molly is a smart, sweet little dog. She was found at 8 weeks old under a car with her sister. They were both bald from manage and sick. A wonderful foster home took them in and nursed them back to health. We do not know what happened during her first 8 weeks of life but she was terrified of people. She has come a long way in 3 months and now loves and craves human company. Molly wants to be with you at all times and is happy to sit quietly by your side or to take long walks, She is still timid and fast movements cause her to shy away so she will need to continue her socialization and puppy ... German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cinnamon is a two-year-old, 80-pound, sweet, smart, well-trained, loyal and protective female German Shepherd/Labrador-mix looking for a loving guardian. Cinnamon is okay with select other dogs, but would probably be best as the one and only dog in the home. She does however live peacefully with a 10-year-old cat. In the home Cinnamon is protective, outside the home, after her initial bark, she is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone she meets. She knows the commands sit, down, paw and takes treats extremely gently from your fingers. During the day, Cinnamon is a couch potato, happy to lounge the day away. However, she is also strong ... (Read More)and athletic and would rise to the occasion if you want a jogging buddy. Cinnamon was adopted from a shelter a year ago and has been a loving and loyal companion for her family. She loves the mom, dad and small children (2 and 5) that she lives with. She has been through extensive training, however the family can't break her of her protectiveness and her big bark scares away daily visitors to her home. So the family thinks she'll be happier with a family with fewer visitors and older children. Cinnamon is housebroken, crate-trained, good on leash and in the car. She will do best with a German Shepherd-lover who knows the breed and can work with her protectiveness. She is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Cinnamon, please contact Sara at sara.strasser@gmail.com or 312-718-0640. She is currently living in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago. Her adoption fee of $150 includes her belongings and supports animal rescue. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is a very beautiful, sweet, snuggly and active, nine-year-old, 62-pound, female White German Shepherd with three legs looking for a loving guardian. Luna was found running stray near Lincoln and Kimball in Chicago on May 28th. Despite the fact that she is micro-chipped, all attempts to find her original guardian have been unsuccessful. She was adopted from the Sangamon County Animal Control nine years ago. We don't know what happened to her leg, but running stray, she could easily have been hit by a car. With only three legs, Luna still runs fast! In the home, she's perfectly housebroken, non-destructive and a lovely couch potato ... (Read More)who enjoys resting on the couch. In the yard, she chases squirrels and bunnies. She has a big scary bark which is typical of a shepherd, but once you get to know her, it is all bluff and bravado. She loves treats and they are certainly the way to her heart; she takes them appreciatively and very gently from your fingers. She is strong and strong-willed and good with select dogs - typically submissive males. Luna is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and fecal-tested. To meet and possibly adopt Luna, please contact her foster mom Aggie at adorosz@yahoo.com or 773-980-0250. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits rescued pets.     Logan is 7 years old, but you wouldn't know it...he loves to go on walks/runs and play outside with people and other dogs. Logan's ideal home would be with only adults, another dog or not, and with someone who has time and love to give. Logan has had training, he walks well and follows commands. If left alone for long period of time Logan gets lonely and likes to get into some trouble, eat off the counter and dig through the garbage, and occasionally may chew something. Logan is used to being created and this prevents him getting into any trouble. Call or Email to meet Logan or for any questions!

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Wilson is a handsome, tall, loyal, and very strong, eight-year-old, 70-pound, male, shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian. Wilson was living with an elderly woman who passed away in her home. Sadly, he was found days later in the home with her dead body. He was brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control where he was almost euthanized. Lucky for him, Famous Fido's came to his rescue. Once you know Wilson, he is such a loving and smart dog. He is full of tail wags and kisses for those he adores. He is extremely protective of his people and afraid of those that he does not know, so you can just imagine how petrified he was in a cage in ... (Read More)a crowded shelter. The woman Wilson lived with was a recluse and a hoarder, so she had no visitors and Wilson had no exposure to anyone but his best friend. Wilson would do best with an experienced and patient dog-lover willing to continue his training. Wilson is very healthy, de-wormed, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, and heartworm-tested. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Wilson, please fill in the online application at http://famousfidorescue.com/rescueforms/machform/view.php?id=26727 and follow up by contacting Gloria at fido@famousfidorescue.com or 773-907-0305. His adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescues of Famous Fido's. The rescue has dogs of all sizes and ages looking for loving guardians. They spend their days at 5430 N. Clark Street in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. Make an appointment to stop in and meet some of these lovable souls. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bailey is an obedient, large dog (90lbs) who loves to play fetch and go for walks. She plays well with small children and is very protective of her home and human family. She is an inside dog, but loves to spend her days outside when the weather is nice. Bailey is frightened of storms and prefers to 'ride them out' on a bed--not her own :-) Due to remodeling, her outside area is now non-existent and she needs a loving home with plenty of room to run and play.

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Destiny is a three-year-old, 60-pound, smart, affectionate and loyal, female black shepherd/terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Destiny was rescued after surviving a neglectful and abusive puppyhood. She is currently living in a foster home with two Great Danes who she loves to herd, play with and chase. After acclimating to her foster home she has proven mild-mannered and calm. However, she does carry with her the residual fears from her traumatized youth. She is incredibly loving and devoted to her foster dad, and seeks out his attention and approval. She is also very protective of him. Destiny is housebroken and kennel-trained. ... (Read More)Destiny is sometimes nervous in new situations and when meeting new people. However, she's a smart girl who can acclimate if given time and patience. Destiny is also nervous meeting new dogs and requires a gradual introduction; she does best with dogs her size and larger. She does not do well with small dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. Like most dogs, Destiny loves routine '| her morning belly rubs, playing with her favorite Great Dane friend and going for walks. She gets nervous with change. So, Destiny is looking for an experienced and patient dog-lover preferably with another large dog to give her the consistency and calm life in which to thrive. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Clyde is a working personality GSD. Very confident and forward. He was very dog aggressive when he first arrived here but has become good with most dogs and had 2 great pit bull mix girl dogs he loved to play with. His friends have both been adopted. Clyde is a typical german shepherd who isn't sure about strangers on his property and at first will bark. He requires a calm and confident person to bring out the best in him. He is very intelligent! One of those 'too smart for his own good', and to smart for the average family. He would be wonderful to teach search and rescue or another job, he is very capable. He is about 5 years old and was ... (Read More)picked up as a stray with another purebred GSD. He loves to be brushed! Rescue Me ID: 13-11-25-00538Capone (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Capone is a handsome, affectionate, playful, active and energetic, two-year-old, 65-pound, brindle and white, male American Bulldog/German Shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian. Capone has such great ears that his nickname is Bat Dog. The poor guy got off to a very rough start to his life; he and his littermates almost succumbed to Parvo. The vet chose to treat the sick puppies with the antibiotic Baytril which helped Capone fight infection, but damaged his hips. So, by the age of 18 months, he had surgery on both hips. You'd hardly know it now because he's still a happy, playful guy who gets the zoomies '| runs, jumps and plays! ... (Read More)Capone is living in a foster home where he is perfecting his housebreaking. He's 90% there! He already knows the commands sit and down and walks nicely on leash. He's also great in the car. He is a very loyal and loving dog who is looking for an experienced dog-lover who can deal with a fearful and protective dog. Capone does best with someone who will work with him and give him structure. Capone can be a bit dog selective. So, he'd be great as the only dog in your world, or he could live with another dog, but it's got to be the right dog. He is currently sharing his foster home with two Rottweilers with whom he gets along. He has not been cat-tested. To meet and possibly adopt Capone, please contact the K94Keeps Rescue at info@k94keeps.org or 312-221-9285. Capone is now healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dandy was dumped on the highway and then hit by a car. We were called and had her displaced hip put back in. Unfortunately it did not stay and we had to have one of her rear legs amputated. She is happy, because she is no longer in pain. She gets around just fine minus one leg. She is a sweet dog and travels well. We didn't have the heart to put her down. She is obedient and affectionate. She is also intelligent and even tempered. She is currently in foster care, but would love her own home!
