We first posted this super handsome guy a couple of months ago. He tried out a home for a bit, but the other dog in the home really wasn't interested in having a playmate. So, our handsome boy had to return. Once again...meet Tanner. This beautiful boy is a 4-year-old-ish, 65-pound German shepherd mix who was found as a stray. His owner was located, but no longer wanted to claim Tanner. It makes us a sad because Tanner is so wonderful. We can't imagine him not being wanted. Tanner is very friendly, happy, and good-natured. He gets along with other dogs, but gets a little nervous in play groups--not aggressive, just nervous. We were told ... (Read More)that Tanner has played with neighborhood kids in the past. Tanner is a medium-energy dog . He would probably do best in a fenced yard or in an active household. We think he would also love a playful dog buddy, but it isn't a requirement. We were told that Tanner had been tied to a shed his whole life. If that is in fact the case, he is incredibly well adjusted. He knows several commands and listens very well. He isn't destructive in the home, but will follow the scent of food--garbage should be out of reach and counter tops should be clear. Tanner is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is solidly housebroken and kennel trained. However, he would probably be fine without a crate. Meet Tina. This super cute baby is a 5-month-old mixed breed girl. Perhaps she is pittie or bull terrier mixed with shepherd and a dash of whatever else you can think of. She's a super sweet, loving girl who has quite a bit of energy. She came to us all the way from Alabama because she was at risk of euthanasia. It's so hard to believe that such a great dog could have almost not made it. Tina loves to run and play. She loves her toys and bones. He minds his business when it comes to other dogs and will play but will not play rough. He doesnt seem to have much interest in toys, but sure likes treats and food. German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
