German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shania is a real sweetheart! She is housebroken, excellent in a crate--even for long hours when necessary--and is good on a leash (except maybe when a squirrel runs by!). She knows basic commands and does very well with other dogs, but I don't know about cats. She learns quickly and will do most anything for a treat. However, she is initially fearful of strange people or situations. She reacts by barking and growling, but she is not aggressive. She just likes to hide her fear behind a big mouth! She reacts well to calming words and actions and once she gets past the fear, she is gentle, loving, and totally attaches to her ... Rescue Me ID: 14-07-15-00242Chip (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a German Shepherd, Chip, that I am looking to re-home. While living in Alabama in 2008, my husband and I found Chip living in the woods. He would come to our porch every night where we would feed him and give him water. He was in bad shape, ribs showing and all. After a few weeks of him getting used to us, we took him in. We assumed him to be very young, 7-8 months probably. We think Chip may be part German Shepherd, part Husky maybe? Not sure, but he doesn't have he typical coloring of a German Shepherd. He is such a lovable dog. We now have three children (3 years and under), as well as two other dogs (13 years,8 years). ... (Read More)Unfortunately, we don't have the time to care for Chip and give him the attention that he needs. He loves to be outside- going for walks, swimming. He is great with children, my kids can literally ride him like a pony and he loves it. And he is the typical German Shepherd 'guard dog', he lays by their cribs when they are napping and such. We do put him in a crate when we aren't home, or at bedtime. He does get a little anxious when left alone and I think his crate makes him feel safe. He would do great with another dog his size. We are looking to find him a new home where he can get the love and attention that he needs. If possible, I would like to skip the foster stage? I feel like it would be to hard for him to go to another home and get adjusted, just to then be moved again. We really don't want to get rid of him, but with moving, and the kids we just can't care for him the way we should. (Less)

Oden is an incredibly happy, mellow German Shepard who was rescued after he was left alone for 20 days in a van. He has since been looked after at a doggy daycare center and we are currently fostering this loyal pup. He is approximately 4 years old, will be neutered within the next 2 weeks, fully vaccinated and have his teeth cleaned. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Joe is about 5 years old and it has been a rough life for him thus far. This German Shepherd mix was found malnourished and chained up to a tree where he appears to have been for some time, he has even lost a portion of his ear and tail due to fly bites. After being assessed by our veterinarian, Joe is now neutered and 75 pounds. Joe is a sweet dog who loves getting hugs. After years of circling around a tree days at a time, he still paces seemingly in search of something. That something is someone who will provide him with the structure, patience, and good life that he very much deserves. While Joe is not familiar with a true home setting, ... (Read More)he is treat motivated, eager to please, walks on a leash, and is learning to understand that his walks outside are the time to take care of business. He is fine with dogs his size. If you are interested in giving Joe the time, patience, and love that he has never experienced he will repay you a thousand times in dog love and loyalty. (Less)
