Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00009Ranger (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

I am posting Ranger looking for his new home along with his owner whom unfortunately just doesn't have the time to dedicate to such a high energy and intelligent breed. Please only inquire on him only if you think you can meet all of his needs, are willing to speak with us over the phone and allow a home visit with him to meet your family in person and be sure he is the right fit for you. Ranger is a fun loving guy, bursting with energy looking for an active family to spend his days with. He is 2 years old and weighs about 45lbs. He is a happy guy who is true to his breed and definitely needs someone that provide him with not only physical ... (Read More)exercise but plenty of mental stimulation also. He's an over the top smarty pants and can bore easily just chasing a ball around the yard. He loves going for runs, hiking and paying with some of his canine friends. We say some because he can particular about who he wants to play with. Ranger has not done well with overly assertive or 'dominant' players. He can get intimated easily by other dogs so would do best a more even tempered but still up to play four legged friend. He does also currently live with two cats whom he pays no attention to. We would recommend that Ranger lives only with older children really due to his energy and strength and that he does need a dog savvy owner. He can be quite the trickster! He knows all of his basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, leave-it, and roll over. Walks great on a leash and is crate trained and housebroken. Ranger is neutered and micro-chipped but will need to be brought up to date on vaccinations. (Less)
