Rescue Me ID: 14-03-04-00478GINGER (female)
This is Ginger, an 11 year old active , healthy,Beagle/Shepherd mix. She is a very friendly, well- mannered, family dog who loves people of all ages. She is very obedient and will always come when she's called. She is comfortable with cats. She is able to be outside for several hours. She will bark just a little when she hears what sounds like a visitor. But she is very friendly with strangers as well. Because of the owners work schedule, she is used to being outside during most of the day, and sleeping in the house at night. That means they don't have the time they would like to spend with her. So she spends most of her days in her doghouse. (unless single digit temps) She is used to a fenced in backyard. She will do great on a leash and if she gets loose she will stay close by. Because of how she was raised, she still really desires to be inside more and be with people. We think her dream is to have a best friend that she can spend most of her days beside and we are hoping to find someone that will take her in, who will be home more. She weighs approximately 30lbs; back height is approximately 15' by 20' long. She is not a chewer, barker or a digger. She has been spayed, and her shots are up to date. She is on a regular dose of flea/tick prevention. She likes to ride in the car and will tolerate bathing and grooming. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-20-00500Kaiba (male)
Kaiba is an 8 month old 7/8 German Shepherd 1/8 Husky that we kept from an accidental litter of puppies. He is a sweetheart but as he has gotten older he has started scarffing down his food and then steals the other dogs food. This has led to a food aggression from our adult dogs and Kaiba now has to be locked up until the other dogs are done eating. He has started showing aggression with his dad, usually when they are competing for their humans attention. We recently both started working 6 days a week and due to his youth Kai has to be kenneled. He only gets out for 3 or 4 hours a day and he's going nuts. I'm pregnant and overwhelmed. While our older dogs are adjusting well to the recent changes Kaiba isn't, and its not fair to him. He does great with our small dog and female dog, plays with our cat and has been exposed to young children often. He is housebroke and comes when called but isn't leash trained. Please help. The longer he is subjected to these changes the more hyper and crazy he is and I really am overwhelmed. I think he'd do best as an only dog due to his food issue but would do well with an experienced family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-20-00434Missy (female)
Hi everyone, My name is Missy, I am a sweet shepherd mix. I was gave up because I was not getting along with the other dog in the family. I seem for the most part to be scared of all the dogs in rescue right now and I am very timid around them. I love to play ball, I will fetch and bring it back to you, although i have not quite figured out the drop it command yet! I am house trained, and up to date on my vet care and I am spayed. I would do wonderful in a family with or without kids. Won't you come and visit me or put an application in for me today?

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-19-00334Cooper59 (male)
I have a german shepherd named Cooper that is around 3.5 yrs old. He is neutered and has had his rabbis shots. He will be due for a rabbis shot in Janruary of 2015 and his heart worm test in May of 2014. He also is micro-chipped. He is a good boy, potty trained, and can stay at home for long periods of time alone. That is one of the main reasons i need to find him a better home. I cant give him enough attention/time anymore. He is quite energetic, very smart, has a natural house protection sense but doesnt attack people. He's done fine with kids, its just that he is around 100-110lbs and can knock a kid over real quick. Im not looking to make money off from him, re-homing fee is negotiable, just a good home where someone can give him more time and attention than me is what matters most. Any questions please call. Ill try to get some photos up soon. He is a big beautiful boy whose looks gets all sorts of compliments. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-19-00097Brutus (male)
He is a very sweet and loving dog when it comes to immediate family. He is ok with me, my husband, and our kids. He gets use to family members and friends but is very unpredictable. He was neutered and had a rabies and distemper shot. We thought this would help with his aggaggression towards new people But it did not seem to change anything. He still growls, raises his fur, and sometimes tries to go after strangers. We have tried to work with him but I'm having alot of anxiety when people come over and I constantly have to lock him up or keep my eyes on him every second. He is always good around my immediate family since we have had him since he was a puppy. I do not know what else to do. I believe he can be trained but I just do not have the ability or the knowledge of how to. Please help! We love him and do not want to get rid of him but have to at this point. We are hoping to find a rescue as it Would break our hearts to see him euthanized over his aggression. Also we have two other female dogs that he gets along with. I'm not sure how he would get along with other dogs though. He has been with our older female dog since he was a puppy and the other female dog is his daughter so he's been around her since she was first born. But he tries to break down our fence to get to the neighbors male dog. They do not like each other. So I'm not sure how he would be around other dogs. We have kids that he loves and when my niece's and nephews come over he seems ok with them. But if someone were to just walk in my door without me, my husband or my kids he would more then likely try to attack them. This is what I mean by unpredictable. If we are not around then he seems to be more aggressive. If you are willing to give him a chance or need a guard dog he is the one for you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-04-27-00279Breanna (female)
Breanna has been through so much trauma in her five years of life. We believe she ran loose as a stray for several months or longer, forced to dine on rotting road kill. As a result of this dangerous and lonely life, she came to us weak, emaciated, and with medical issues we are currently treating. Despite all this, her loving spirit shines through. She wants to show us that she can be a good, loving dog that should belong in a house with a family once again. She can sit and shake, tricks left over from a life long left behind. She is eager to get to know the love of people once again. She would do best in a home without young kids because she is still adjusting to life with people once again. She needs an owner who understands that it will take lots of patience and love to let Breanna truly shine. Please help repair a broken dog and consider her today. Can't adopt? Consider fostering Breanna so you can teach her once again how to live in a house with a family. Email email@example.com with questions or for further information. (Less)

German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
