This ad needs to be read in its entirity before responding please. I have a healthy, full blooded, intact, 2.5 year old German Shepherd that we are looking to rehome. My goal here is simple. Find Milo a good, suitable home so that he can avoid being put down. But lets start at the beginning. We got Milo in November of 2016, so while we haven't known him long, he quickly became part of our family. However, a couple weekends ago (Saturday, June 10) Milo bit our brother's girlfriend in her lip causing stitches. (I will explain the event in entirety to those who are interested) On the 1-5 dog bite scale his was a 3. Which means he snapped ... (Read More)and caused a wound. Because of the incident and because we have young children I just can't risk keeping him. We have 3 children 11, 5, and 2. We have two other dogs a big and a little, cats, chickens and ducks and Milo has no issues with any of them. Infact, prior to this event I would have said no Milo would never bite someone like that, yet here we are. Because he did it once he could do it again, or this truly could be a one time incident. I just don't know and just can't take that risk. We would love to find Milo a home that wouldn't be miserable at like living in a cage or being pimped out as a stud dog. He likes to be around his people and other than when we're outside or he's going potty he sticks close to us. He is our diligent, obedient solider who now has a dog bite past. He's a very typical shepherd so an experienced home is a must. We aren't looking for any money, just a good home, but because of this we would also need to have a signed disclosure/waiver liability that we completely informed you of Milo's history, just to cover our butt and cause unfortunately that is the world we now live in. My intentions for this dog are good and I only want to spare his life because that shouldn't be his fate. Im willing to work with anyone that may be a good candidate about driving and meeting to find him a home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-14-00434Butters (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Butterscotch, or as we know her, Butters, was left behind in a vacant home. Her owner died & everyone else left, leaving her & 2 other male dogs. Butters is a middle aged girl at about 7 years old & in very good health. She is the gentlest of doggies. She gets along with everyone & loves to play with other dogs. We aren't sure about how she would do with cats. She does like to chase squirrels. Housebroken, no health issues, calm & so sweet natured, she will make a really fine family dog or companion for someone that is looking for a calm, sweet girl like this. We are guessing that she is a Lab/German Shepard mix. Don't wait! Ask for an ... (Read More)adoption application before it is too late! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-19-00273Selma (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Selma was rescued from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, TX in January 2016. She was so scared in the shelter, she was snapping at the staff. She was sure to be one of the first to be euthanized that day because of her fearful behavior. Selma is a beautiful, fun, playful and energetic little girl. We saw that within just a few days of being at our house. She is about 4 years old and mature beyond her years, but very young at heart and extremely intelligent. Selma knows 'sit' and willingly does so when she wants a treat! She also knows 'no' and listens very well when asked to redirect her behavior. She is also crate trained, house trained ... (Read More)and prefers to be loose in the house, although we recommend crating her when she is alone for long periods. Selma was listed at the shelter as a shepherd mix but, she is really the size of a beagle and weighs only about 25-30 pounds. Because Selma was likely abused before she was picked up as a stray, we recommend her new family have no small children and prior dog experience. Despite Selma's past, she has a very playful side and loves people who are fun and will play with her. Selma loves to run through the house, grunting, and playing with toys. Squeak toys are her favorite but, she also enjoys a relaxing chew on a Nylabone. She enjoys being near people and longs for human contact. She mostly just wants to know she isn't alone and is safe in her environment. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%81S Selma is also crate trained and goes willingly into her crate at meal time and for treats. She is house trained, too. Selma is dog and cat friendly but, needs to be introduced properly due to her fear of new friends. Selma is also leash trained and knows her name, and comes running when called! Selma would LOVE a fenced yard since she is somewhat fearful and timid. A fenced yard would offer her security and help her gain her confidence. We would recommend not leaving her off leash for a while in the beginning and then, progressing to a long line attached to her collar when allowing her to roam free in her yard. Selma's only requirements include: prior dog experience and a fenced yard, being committed to giving her the best life, people willing to move slow and speak softly in order to help gain her confidence and trust, loving her forever, and being her best friend. Please email or call if you are interested in adopting Selma and forever making her a part of your family. We require an adoption application, references, home check and adoption contract. Her adoption fee is $225, and she is up to date on vaccinations, HW negative and taking preventative, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Each adoption is considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the dog and their requirements as well as the family and their circumstances. NO TEXT MESSAGES please!! (Less)
