Rescue Me ID: 17-04-25-00400Sancho (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Sancho is a male 5 year old purebred GSD. He is neutered and is current with all of his shots. He is mainly an inside dog where he is a laid back, attention craving, lovable companion. Outside, strangers beware. The previous owner told me that someone got mad at him, picked up a bicycle, threw it at him, hit him and hurt him. since then he hates bicycles and chases them when they go by and he has added joggers and walkers to that list. I live out in the country but very close to a busy road with a lot of the 3 types passing by every day. I am 81 and he weighs 97 pounds so at times he is a bit hard for me to control. I do not answer the phone ... (Read More)if I don't know who is calling, so if you call leave a voicemail and I will call you back. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-24-00488Charlie (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Aggressive

Charlie can be very loving but I have an autistic son that she is increasingly aggressive with. She is very aggressive when other dogs are nearby and when any men come to the house. I have never had this issue, but she is only about 10 months old and is small for a German Shepard, father was 1/2 great Pyrenees and 1/2 GS. Mother full GS. She was runt of a large litter and the other puppies were much bigger. She likes my cats and LOVES kittens but we do have one very skittish cat rescue that she chases around, but another cat she plays with all the time.

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-21-00392Diesel (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Diesel aka Ranger is a white GSD that is approximately 1.5-2 years old and weighs approximately 75 lbs. This beautiful boy is very smart and a quick learner. He already knows 'sit' and 'shake' and takes treats nicely. Due to his age, he would benefit from an obedience class to help him focus better. He is house trained with minimal accidents and settles down quickly when placed in his crate. He already knows 'sit' and 'shake' and takes treats nicely. He enjoys being outside and requires a fenced yard. Friendly with other dogs and there have been no issues with the other male GSD in the home. He completely ignores the two Pomeranians ... (Read More)and Schnoodle housemates. Very cat curious and will chase if given the opportunity - probably best in a home with out cats. Because he is clutzy and likes to jump, he should not go to a home with small children. He loves to be with his people and even at 75 lbs he thinks he is a lap dog. Diesel is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250.00. Contact us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com to find out more about Diesel! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-19-00348Bella (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

We bought Bella from a breeder almost 6 years ago in October. In hindsight we didn't pick up on the fact that the breeder had to keep the dad locked away from us and we could hear how aggressive he was being toward us, she dismissed it as he was being protective over the puppies. She is a good dog, vey good with OUR kids and the select adults she has known since she was a puppy. Unfortunately, she is very aggressive to anyone - adults, children, male or female that come anywhere near the house. She has run off after people simply running by the house and has even run to the bus, after pushing out of the unlatched front door. It is very ... (Read More)unfortunate b/c we can't ever have her free outside the fenced in yard or when we have company. Our neighbors won't allow their kids over to play b/c of how Bella is. She is a very loving, attention seeking and of course protective dog. She is smart, she understands she has to go to her bathroom when we say someone is coming over. My parents and our current nanny (who has been around always), love her to pieces but are not able to take her in b/c of her aggressiveness. This has never gotten better, she hasn't ever even made up with our neighbor after 6 years, and we have all tried. We need to find her a new home where she can get the life and attention she deserves. The only reason we must find her a home is b/c our nanny is moving to another state to be with her children, and is becoming a first time grandma. We have hired a new girl, and it is not fair to have Bella locked up all day everyday or muzzle her (if we even could - we don't own one, and it's difficult at times to even get a leash on her). I don't want to just drop her off at a shelter, I feel she can be placed in another good home that can accept who she is. She is good with other dogs too. She loves to play catch too. She is very aggressive - yet somewhat submissive too, she gets very excited to see her 'people' - she loves my step-dad. I put a fee only b/c I don't want someone to just see free and take her to some kind of bad place. So any fee can be discussed and it can go directly to the shelter - even if it is us paying it. Please call me to discuss her and our situation. Our new sitter begins in the middle of May, I hope to find her a home by then, I have been putting this off b/c it sucks. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-16-00264Zeus (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE NOTE: WE CANNOT CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FOR HOMES MORE THAN AN HOUR OUTSIDE OF DETROIT. Zeus is one of a litter of nine puppies born to a feral dog we rescued just days before she whelped. Mom is a brindle shepherd mix and we think the father is a vizsla mix that we saw her running with around the time she would have gotten pregnant. Zeus is 16 weeks old. He's larger than this picture shows (it was taken at 9 weeks), and he's starting to get some of those classic vizsla wrinkles. He's good with all of our other dogs and with every person he's met so far. Zeus is a very loving puppy, and he's ALWAYS happy. He has no food aggression ... (Read More)issues, and he's very quick to ask for playtime and cuddling. He's paper trained but not yet housebroken. Zeus is also up to date on shots. He is not yet fixed. We will ask for a home visit and will want you to sign an adoption contract. Part of the contract states that he must be neutered between 5 & 6 months old. We live in a zip code where that can be done for free if needed so please don't let that be a barrier to adopting this sweet boy! The adoption fee covers his vaccinations to date, his microchip, some starter food, and a few other goodies. Please visit our website to see more photos and to fill out an application: http://wp.me/P8s2Ym-rr - there's a link to the application on the website. Please note: we will not respond to communications from potential adopters until you fill out an application. We're very sorry about that, but we received hundreds of emails on his four littermates we posted here, mostly from people who would not even give us their names but were trying to get us to give them away for free so we have to do it this way for our puppies' protection and for our own sanity.     Beautiful 'Ella' is a 4-5 year old, 50lb Chinook blend. She is timid at first in new situations and a little on guard. But once she knows all is safe she is very friendly, loving and playful. Although she will need continued training, Ella is very smart and loyal - a good combination to catch on to things quick. She has done will in her foster home with dogs both big and small. Cats we cannot comment on as we have no observations there. Ella is both house trained and crate trained and does well on leash.     Looking to rehome 8 year old White German shepherd. He has not been socialized very good, so someone who has the time and patience is needed. If he knows the person his behavior is great, but if it is a new person, it takes him a while to warm up to, and he can be aggressive towards. He does have separation anxiety from me, so I am looking for someone to make the transition process easy for him and over a course of a month. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

We are needing a foster situation for about two months for a family member's dog while he is in a rehabilitative nursing home. We can't house her as she is easily startled by noise and sudden movements and has a history of defensive aggression (when she thought her person was in danger). She is very sweet with people she trusts: she does not show any gender preference but she gets anxious around groups of people (we have three kids so we know this would stress her out). I don't know how she does with other dogs, so I chose that she does not do well as a precaution. We have asked friends and family to help but we can't find anyone we know ... (Read More)who is willing or able. We don't think boarding is a good option due to her behavior. We will assist with transportation and care if your home is a good fit. Basically, she needs a temporary, quiet home with someone with experience with dogs with behavioral issues. (Less)

Wolfie is already on the road to recovery and can't wait to get into a home of his own where he will be loved and cared for. He loves people, but will do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. Rescue Me ID: 16-03-19-00273Selma (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Selma was rescued from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, TX in January 2016. She was so scared in the shelter, she was snapping at the staff. She was sure to be one of the first to be euthanized that day because of her fearful behavior. Selma is a beautiful, fun, playful and energetic little girl. We saw that within just a few days of being at our house. She is about 4 years old and mature beyond her years, but very young at heart and extremely intelligent. Selma knows 'sit' and willingly does so when she wants a treat! She also knows 'no' and listens very well when asked to redirect her behavior. She is also crate trained, house trained ... (Read More)and prefers to be loose in the house, although we recommend crating her when she is alone for long periods. Selma was listed at the shelter as a shepherd mix but, she is really the size of a beagle and weighs only about 25-30 pounds. Because Selma was likely abused before she was picked up as a stray, we recommend her new family have no small children and prior dog experience. Despite Selma's past, she has a very playful side and loves people who are fun and will play with her. Selma loves to run through the house, grunting, and playing with toys. Squeak toys are her favorite but, she also enjoys a relaxing chew on a Nylabone. She enjoys being near people and longs for human contact. She mostly just wants to know she isn't alone and is safe in her environment. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%81S Selma is also crate trained and goes willingly into her crate at meal time and for treats. She is house trained, too. Selma is dog and cat friendly but, needs to be introduced properly due to her fear of new friends. Selma is also leash trained and knows her name, and comes running when called! Selma would LOVE a fenced yard since she is somewhat fearful and timid. A fenced yard would offer her security and help her gain her confidence. We would recommend not leaving her off leash for a while in the beginning and then, progressing to a long line attached to her collar when allowing her to roam free in her yard. Selma's only requirements include: prior dog experience and a fenced yard, being committed to giving her the best life, people willing to move slow and speak softly in order to help gain her confidence and trust, loving her forever, and being her best friend. Please email or call if you are interested in adopting Selma and forever making her a part of your family. We require an adoption application, references, home check and adoption contract. Her adoption fee is $225, and she is up to date on vaccinations, HW negative and taking preventative, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Each adoption is considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the dog and their requirements as well as the family and their circumstances. NO TEXT MESSAGES please!! (Less)
