Rescue Me ID: 15-08-05-00578Sasha (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shasha came to us in December 2014 as a short term 'foster' situation. We took her and her son, Samson into our home for what was supposed to be 2 months. Unfortunately, the owner could not take them back and left both of them with us. Since then, we've grown to love both of these beautiful dogs. However, we cannot keep two large German Shepherds in our small, South Minneapolis home. In addition, Sasha has recently bit a boy in the neighborhood and has now been deemed, 'Potentially Dangerous'. We are going through all of the compliance requirements now for the City of Minneapolis. One of the compliance requirements though, is that Sasha must ... (Read More)Always be muzzled and on a three foot max leash, which is not a good quality of life for her. We are opting to hire an authorized trainer so that Sasha can have the Potentially Dangerous classification and the muzzle/leash requirement removed. We also feel it is in everyone's best interest to find her a home that is not in the city with a family/owner who will love her as much as we do. Sasha is an absolute sweetheart. She is very loyal and, like most German Shepherds, VERY SMART. She knows some sign language which is very cool to see and testifies to her intelligence. She responds perfectly to verbal commands. We believe she will come through this new training extremely well and will be officially removed from the Potentially Dangerous classification and will no longer require the muzzle/leash. We would like to find the perfect home for her. She's up to date on all vaccinations, will be spayed on 9/2/15, will be microchipped on 8/6/15 and is in excellent health. She will make a wonderful, loving pet for the right family/individual. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-11-00109Genghis (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

I rescued a German / lab mix puppy named Genghis from an abusive home about 9 years ago. He's always been a challenge, and very strong willed and strong physically, but I lived in a small town, so it was ok. But on our leashed walks over the years, many off-leash dogs have attacked him. Since I've moved to the city, he has grown increasingly paranoid. He views all other dogs as enemies. He fights other dogs on sight. A work man came to my rental unannounced last spring, and Genghis bit him. It wasn't his fault, there was a variety of human error at play though (I was on vacation, no notice from rental company, and he got away from my ... (Read More)dog sitter). He was just doing his job as a protector of my home, but because of this, none of the adoption services will take him for adoption, only for destruction. Now I'm moving to a smaller place in a dog heavy neighborhood, and he's too strong and dangerous for me to take with me. He's a very sweet boy in the house, but a terror outside. I think a strong male presence in his life, someone calm who will be the alpha Genghis needs could be great. He needs a home outside the city with room to run. Please help me! (Less)
