|Rescue Me ID: 14-12-14-00194Coal (male)|
This handsome 2 yr old border collie / possible german shepherd mix is currently in foster care at a local rescue. He is incredibly sweet, intelligent, and obedient. He has the size and appearance of a sleek black german shepherd with the brains, agility, attentiveness, and loyalty of a border collie. He will look you right in the eye as if to ask, 'what next?' He is very sensitive. Really he is amazing. However, he is not appropriate for every home. He is a large dog and requires a lot of exercise. He is also 'mouthy' (a characteristic of herding dogs where they put their mouth around your hand or ankle but don't actually bite - a bad habit he is currently working on). Due to this and his size, would not be appropriate for a home with small children. He would ideally be adopted to a home with another dog for companionship or by somebody who can bring him to work. Although he is extremely active, he will be calm when appropriate. Coal is house trained and is Not destructive, even when left home alone for hours. Learns commands very quickly. Will guard your house and growl at strangers. Very playful with other dogs, often dominant. Trained not to attack chickens and can also be left alone with them. Can you handle this guy?! If you can you will have the most amazing, intelligent, almost human, fun, and loyal companion. He will be your shadow, protector, bike partner, ski partner, running partner, and couch cuddler. In order to adopt him you must be very active, have a yard with open access from the house, and be committed to spending time with him daily. (Less)

|Animal ID: 14-4146Brownie (female)|
Breed: Akbash Mix ( did not have it on listing) Brownie is currently in foster and is doing AMAZING! She has come out of her shell playing with 2 large dogs, sharing food and toys with out problems! She is doing well on basic commands and on house manners! She does need some leash work but slow steps have done wonders on this girl! Spent some time with children and greets people with kindness! She does need someone with patience and will push her out of her comfort zone, slowly. If you want to know more on helping Brownie, contact us!!

German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Montana if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
