Animal ID: 14NV1730402Bailey (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bailey. This 2 year old shepherd mix somehow ended up at the local shelter. Why her family didn't come to get her is a mystery. Her loving personality and gentle manners indicate to us that she was once a loved family member. She is a sweet girl who is friendly with everyone and everything she meets. She was a big hit at a recent adoption event, charming everybody with her infectious happiness and friendly nature. She is working on and getting better with her excited urinating, and once she is settled into her forever home we expect she will continue to improve. Bailey is a bit on the smaller side, and can fit into just about any ... (Read More)family situation. If you think Bailey would be the perfect addition to your home, it only takes a $325 adoption donation and a few minutes of your time to fill out the adoption application. Animal ID: 14NV1730310Ah-zee (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This pretty, young dog is Ah-zee. Just over a year old, Ah-zee landed at the local kill shelter after getting into a fight with the beagle she lived with. Because the family travels a lot, and the dog sitter is elderly, it was decided that Ah-zee would have to go since she is bigger and harder to handle than the beagle. Being owner surrendered, Ah-zee wasn't even given a chance in adoptions, and was immediately placed on 'the list.' So VSR stepped in. We have found that Ah-zee is really well behaved, is good with dogs of her own size or bigger, but she needs to live in a home that is free of small dogs and cats. She walks well on the ... (Read More)leash, knows how to shake, and will sit at doorways before she goes out. If you have the love, the home and the $325 adoption donation to give for Ah-zee to be your next furry family member, then please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application. Because there's no better feeling than being the Harriet to our Ah-zee. (Less)

Animal ID: 14NV1730308Slash (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Four year old Slash's previous owners were given two choices when Animal Control came to visit: Get him to the vet or surrender him to them. They chose the latter. An open, untreated puncture wound was infected on one of his front legs. He was severely emaciated, malnourished, and the condition of his skin and coat screamed neglect to the point of labeling it abuse. But does this long, tall wolfhound, malinois, shepherd (?) mix hold any grudges against humans? Considering he would rather snuggle up in your lap than go for a walk in the park, we would have to say no. Slash is somewhat aloof and reserved with strangers but with a little ... (Read More)time and a few treats, you will be the recipient of all the love and affection this 75 lb. lap dog has to give. The only other thing (besides a few good meals to get him to a healthy weight) Slash requires of his next family (the one he will have forever) is that there is at least one lap that he can call his own. For an adoption donation of only $325 you can be the lucky family who Slash will be eternally grateful to for truly saving his life and rocking his world. With a dog like Slash, smarter than he probably should be, you could teach him to be the lead guitarist in your jammin' air band. Changing the world for Slash will be more fun than 'Rockin' into the Night.' (Less)

If you have always wanted to have your very own living teddy bear, now is your chance! VSR's life experienced ball of fluff, Midnight, just so happens to be looking for a den to call her own. Midnight doesn't have a long list of 'must haves.' She is easy to please and gets along with most everyone. Dogs, cats, you name it, Midnight just wants to go with the flow. And if the flow is interrupted, Midnight will be the first to let you know about it. She has stories to tell and wants to have an audience to listen to her. There is a big personality in this pint size body. Don't wait all day to put in your adoption application and set ... Animal ID: 14NV1730305Lacey (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miss Lacey Jay. Lacey has seen a few sunsets in her day and has been around the block a few times. But she has the sweetness and innocence of a newborn. Lacey just wants to be loved. She just wants a family that she can love for the rest of her days. Lacey was dropped off at the shelter by people who said they found her wandering stray in their neighborhood. This gentle girl exhibited many of the behaviors that dogs who have been surrendered by their families would. When volunteers would take her out for walks, she would get anxious and search every face she saw, looking for the familiar faces of the family that isn't coming back ... (Read More)for her. If you can give Lacey the stability and security of a loving forever home, just fill out our online adoption application. It only requires an adoption donation of $325 to bring home this adoring girl who will gently paw at you for more petting and love when she feels you haven't given her her daily quota of affection. Lacey may be beginning her golden years, but she has lots of life left to live. Can you give her a chance to live it? Animal ID: 14NV1730306Jack (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet 2 year old Jack. Picked up as a stray, Jack was adopted and returned the very next day. Although Jack is an XL size dog, he is very sensitive, and doesn't respond well to harsh corrections. He quickly caught on to walking nicely on the leash after just a couple gentle, yet firm reminders. Like many typical shepherds, Jack is aloof with strangers and needs to trust someone before he warms up. Jack loves to go in the car, and is happiest with his head out the window, catching all the sights and smells. He has a large, square head with a very unique coat color. At almost 75 lbs, Jack is in desperate need of quite a few good meals, ... (Read More)served up with multiple side dishes of love. If you have the patience and understanding to give this big boy the home he deserves, all that is required is for you to fill out our online adoption application and make the $325 adoption donation. Jack will repay you with loyalty and love. Giving Jack a job to do will change the world for him, and he will work hard to do any job you give him. Animal ID: 14NV1730304Faith (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet, big, young, beautiful Faith. Faith came to us from a Northern Utah shelter. When she ran out of time and no local rescues or adopters would take her, VSR stepped up to take her. Faith shows us her gratitude every day. She is under 2 years old and is over 80 pounds. Because of her size, puppy energy, and exuberance, Faith would do best in a home without small critters, both 2 and 4 legged. She can't seem to get enough love and attention and will drop and roll over onto her back for belly rubs any time, any place. Like many rescue dogs, Faith is in need of some training. VSR offers free training to all of our adopters, so there's ... (Read More)really no reason not to take Faith home. Faith doesn't know that she is 'different' than other shepherds, so we don't treat her any differently. She just wants to be loved and live with a family who cherishes her for the unique creature she is. She is happy, playful, and like many young dogs, she is still quite mouthy when she gets excited. She also jumps up and wraps her front legs around you to give you a bear hug. If you can welcome Faith into your heart and home and can make the $325 adoption donation, please fill out our online adoption application. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Princess Aiyana. This 2 year old dog was found and taken in by a Good Samaritan who had her spayed, microchipped and up to date on her shots. She is such a sweet, affectionate dog, the Good Samaritan planned to keep Aiyana for herself. But after about a week, Aiyana made it clear she needed to be the only dog in the home. She wasn't getting along with the resident male or female dogs. But where Aiyana is lacking in affection for her own species, she more than makes up for in her love of humans. She just wants to be loved on and will give back the love 150%. If your castle is missing a royal princess to make the kingdom complete, ... (Read More)please fill out our online adoption application. A $325 adoption donation is also required. But Aiyana will show you time and time again that she is worth every penny. With her royal little paws crossed and that imaginary tiara she thinks she has on her head, changing Aiyana's world will be as exciting as the Emperor's new clothes. (Less)

Animal ID: 14NV1730212Star (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

You have to wonder what has happened to beautiful, young Star in her life to make her so afraid. Although being rounded up by Animal Control, put in a dark box that moved and probably bounced her around, and then ending up at the local kill shelter was probably enough to compound any fears she may have already had. When she was sentenced to death for those fears, VSR felt we had to do something to help this petite thing. We got her into boarding, and luckily one of the staff members noticed that Star wasn't eating well and her urine was dark and thick. A quick trip to the vet revealed a stick wedged on the roof of her mouth. Surgery was ... (Read More)required to remove it, along with 4 of her teeth. Judging from the amount of damage, the stick had probably been there for months. Now on the road to recovery, Star seeks comfort in the lap or between the legs of a familiar person. She is non-reactive to both large and small dogs. She just wants to feel safe. So if you have a calm, patient, and understanding home to offer Star (and if you have a nice, balanced dog, that might be even better for Star) please fill out our online adoption application and set aside $325 for her adoption donation. Because changing the world for this Star will make you feel over the moon. And doesn't she deserve a chance to shine? (Less)

Animal ID: 14NV1730209Mako (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mako is a gorgeous, 4 year old, neutered male who has had little to no socialization. It appears that he was 'trained' in a negative manner and is fearful of new people. He also is highly aversive to being confined and has responded with kennel/fear aggression. We have been working on all of these issues with calm, firm but gentle, positive reinforcement and he has made incredible progress in the past couple of weeks. We have learned that he is a smart, sensitive boy who is curious about the real world. He is becoming more affectionate every day, leaning and giving kisses to those he trusts. Because of his past history of poor ... (Read More)socialization and kennel/fear aggression, Mako must go to an adult-only, experienced shepherd home. His people must commit to his continued positive-reinforcement training and socialization. Mako wants a kind leader to guide him as he learns about the real world. Because he has never learned how to interact properly with other large dogs and appears over stimulated by small animals, it would be best if he was an 'only dog.' Mako has huge potential to be a devoted, intelligent, affectionate companion for an active, patient adult who is willing to help him learn how to trust again. Filling out our online adoption application and making the $325 adoption donation are required to bring Mako into your life. Can you help Mako become the balanced, happy dog he really wants to be? Animal ID: 14NV1730113Theo (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Theo. Theo was turned into the local kill shelter with follicular cysts and very emaciated. At only about 2 years old, Theo hadn't even been given a real chance to have a good life with a family who loves him. VSR stepped in, and with the help of the Miracle GSD Network, we were able to have the cysts removed. The cysts are benign. Shepherds, along with a few other breeds are prone to these harmless cysts. Theo is a big, beautiful boy, who, for his young age, is quite calm and prefers calm surroundings. The unpredictability of young children makes Theo very uncomfortable, so Theo will need to go to a home with no children under ... (Read More)the age of 10. He knows a few of the basic commands, but could benefit from the free training offered to our adopters. If you are able to make the $325 adoption donation to adopt this teddy bear of a dog, you just need to go to our website and fill out the online adoption application.     Twelve year old Queenie was found wandering the streets of Las Vegas. Skinny and alone, Queenie also had a large mass on her side about the size of a grapefruit. Because of her age, and the mass on her side, Queenie was slated to die. But how could we leave Queenie to die alone, not knowing love in her golden years? We couldn't. So she was taken to our vet where a chest X-ray was done to see if she had any cancer that had metastasized to her lungs. She will nip at your heels when you walk, trying to herd you. She is most comfortable with another dog around to give her some confidence. She likes to cuddle on the couch and loves to play fetch. Gator will benefit greatly from the free training classes that VSR offers all of our adopters. It's best that Gator go to a home with no cats or small children and one with some German Shepherd experience. If you think you have a home that can give Gator the life she is longing for, full of love, patience, consistency, exercise and discipline, please set aside the $325 adoption donation and fill out our online adoption application. Because imagine the looks you will get from friends and neighbors when you tell them there's a Gator in your home! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet, little, 1-2 year old Chevi was picked up by Animal Control. That day was probably the scariest day of her life. So much so, that when she arrived at the shelter, she just froze. She wouldn't walk or interact with anyone. She had to be picked up or dragged anywhere she had to go. She was lucky to make it to the list of dogs that have the opportunity to be pulled by a rescue. So when VSR went to pick up this 40 lb shep mix, it was no surprise that she had to be carried out to the car. But as soon as she was set down on the dog bed, her little tail was heard thumping on it. It was still tucked between her legs, but she was ... (Read More)wagging it. She was perfectly behaved in the car, and just wanted a friendly hand to be touching her the whole time. Shortly before we arrived at the vet clinic, poor Chevi, still being under the effects of the anesthesia from her spay, went to the back of the SUV and very quietly threw up. So when we arrived at the vet, and the back door was opened to get her out, this little scared girl was trying to cover up her mess by using her nose to push it into the corner of the car. Afraid she would be punished, she immediately flattened herself against the wall of the SUV. She had to be carried into the vet. Chevi so desperately wants love and affection and is now coming out of her shell. Her tail isn't tucked between her legs when she wags it. She is very loving and affectionate, once she feels safe. She will climb into your lap and give you kisses for days. Her kind, genuinely sweet personality is one that has to be seen to be appreciated. And being only about 40-43 lbs, she is a great size for a family with a smaller home, or would be wonderful with a retired couple. Chevi has so much to offer anyone who fills out our online application and makes the $325 adoption donation. So don't be left standing in the dust. Step on it, and don't brake for anything until you cross the finish line with the little black Chevi. Because when you do, you will certainly have ended up in the winner's circle. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When Beni became part of the VSR family, she had a severely broken pelvis, and our vets wondered how she was even able to walk with the amount of damage she had sustained. But with the help and generosity of the LVVSC, the Gingerlead harness company, and 8 weeks of crate rest, this beautiful, young girl has healed up as good as new. Beni is now learning how to live and behave like a good dog should. Her foster mom has been working on doggy manners and happily reports that Beni will bark at the door when she needs to go out. She is also learning how to act around other dogs, and that nonstop barking and lunging is NOT how to make friends ... (Read More)with the neighborhood dogs. Beni shares her home with a 13 year old male shepherd and has learned when to back off when he isn't interested in 'playing' with her. She loves kids and people of all sizes. But because of her puppy energy and strength, Beni needs to go to a home where the children are a little bit older. Beni has made new friends at a nearby dog park as well. With a $325 adoption donation, and by filling out our online adoption application, you can bring Beni into your heart and home and continue to show her the world. Because seeing Beni's world change right before your eyes will make you want to get up and dance. Just make sure she knows there will be no dancing in the streets. (Less)

How could somebody take this 18 month old cutie-pie and desert him at a doggy day care? How could they intentionally give false contact information?
