Rescue Me ID: 14-08-17-00137Thor (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Meet young Thor. Believed to be under 2 years old, Thor was dumped at a training facility with a female companion. VSR was contacted and asked to help, and we just couldn't say no to this very tall, playful youngster. Thor was kept with the female and seems like he would be fine with most well mannered dogs. We haven't had a chance to do any real doggy introductions yet because Thor is being treated for giardia, but should be ready for meet and greets very soon. Thor knows how to sit and shake, but like most young dogs he is still working on impulse control and has a tendency to want to jump up on you. We are working on that. Once Thor ... (Read More)gains some much needed weight, he will be a gorgeous, head-turning dog. If you think your home is where Thor should spend the rest of his life, please fill out our online adoption application and set aside the $325 adoption donation. Because changing the world for this guy will be so rewarding! He will dance and spin when you walk in the door every day. You will be a sight for Thor eyes! (Less)

Molli is a one year old female mix that was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Lancaster. A Good Samaritan has been fostering her, but unable to find a suitable home. She is very much a puppy who still chews and needs plenty of exercise. She would benefit from our free training classes. She walks very well on a leash, knows sit and is crate trained. She does well with other dogs, particularly those her size, but may be a bit too much for small children. If Molli sounds like your kind of girl, please complete the adoption application and prepare to be loved!

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

This is a very sweet dog but she is very fearful of men. She acts like someone may have beaten her but knowing her last owner, we know they didn't do it and it hasn't happened at our house. What we do know is she loves men as long as they are sitting down and not making sudden movements. She's been with my husband and me for a year and we've made some progress in getting her over her fears. We are moving to a very hot climate soon and know she will not enjoy it there. We'd really like her to find a home where someone is willing to help her continue on the path we've started her on. She's great with our other dog and cat. She's been ... (Read More)good around children, but we are very selective about which children as we worry she could bite out of fear. She's house trained and loves the security of her crate. She chooses to be in it even when she doesn't have to be. I do crate her when I leave the house, as she has issues with separation anxiety. I'm charging a rehoming fee to ensure her safety. (Less)

Meet Miss Lacey Jay. Lacey has seen a few sunsets in her day and has been around the block a few times. But she has the sweetness and innocence of a newborn. Lacey just wants to be loved. She just wants a family that she can love for the rest of her days. Lacey was dropped off at the shelter by people who said they found her wandering stray in their neighborhood.     You have to wonder what has happened to beautiful, young Star in her life to make her so afraid. Although being rounded up by Animal Control, put in a dark box that moved and probably bounced her around, and then ending up at the local kill shelter was probably enough to compound any fears she may have already had. When she was sentenced to death for those fears, VSR felt we had to do something to help this petite thing. We got her into boarding, and luckily one of the staff members noticed that Star wasn't eating well and her urine was dark and thick. A quick trip to the vet revealed a stick wedged on the roof of her mouth. Surgery was ... (Read More)required to remove it, along with 4 of her teeth. Judging from the amount of damage, the stick had probably been there for months. Now on the road to recovery, Star seeks comfort in the lap or between the legs of a familiar person. She is non-reactive to both large and small dogs. She just wants to feel safe. So if you have a calm, patient, and understanding home to offer Star (and if you have a nice, balanced dog, that might be even better for Star) please fill out our online adoption application and set aside $325 for her adoption donation. So stressful that in those 10 days, magnificent Sarge lost 21 pounds! But did Sarge give up? No, he didn't.     Meet 3 year old Gator. Gator was found wandering stray in Southern California with another shepherd. A Good Samaritan took both dogs in, got them up to date on shots, and had them fixed before they were transported to Las Vegas. So much of Gator's past is a mystery. What we do know is that she probably wasn't socialized very well back when she was younger, when it was so important that she experience new things. This beautiful adult girl was the adored family pet for the first years of her life. A couple of years ago, Trixie's family decided to bring in another furry family member. Animal ID: 13NV1730404Augie (Atlas) (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beautiful Augie. Previously named Atlas when she arrived from California via the Miracle GSD Network, Lady Augusta waited patiently to be adopted by the perfect home for her. It was worth the wait. But nine months after being adopted by a wonderful gentleman who made her life complete, tragedy struck, and her owner passed away. Now Augie is once again waiting for the perfect home to spend the rest of her life. Her list of things she desires to be happy are: - A family free of small creatures, both 2 and 4 legged. (Augie will sometimes snap when startled or stressed.) - Car trips. This girl is born to ride! When she hears the jingle of ... (Read More)the car keys, she jumps for joy and squeaks like she can't contain herself. She loves the car so much, she once insisted on spending the entire night in back seat. - Trips to the dog park. She loves to play with other big dogs. (She barks at dogs when she is on a leash, though.) - A big, soft dog bed. (Though she reserves the right to curl up in any number of locations in the house - especially ones where she can keep an eyeball on you.) Augie is very affectionate. Upon meeting you, she will immediately offer up her belly to rub. She will gently nudge you awake in the morning. Once you earn her trust, she might even venture up onto your bed to sleep with you. Augie is also quite goofy. She loves to sleep on her back with all fours in the air, or with her legs curled up against the wall. When she drinks water, she sticks her entire snout in the bowl. She is also the Mariah Carey of dogs - she has an incredible vocal range from the lowest baritone moans to the highest pitched soprano squeaks. Her former owner's children started calling her 'Squeaky' because of her enthusiastic response to the question, 'Do you want to go in the car?' She is endlessly entertaining to the humans around her. As you can see from her photos, she a very beautiful girl. She always gets compliments from passersby on her gorgeous coloring and striking eyes. Mere photos cannot do her justice. If you can offer Augie the loving home she wants and deserves, please fill out our online adoption application and set aside the $325 adoption donation. Because Augie has had her world changed enough already. She is ready for some stability and the love of her very own family. (Less)
