Rescue Me ID: 14-02-03-00587Hope (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Update on Hope: Hope went to the vet for a full exam and blood work. All things considered, the news is relatively good. Her blood work all came back negative. She was also negative for skin mites and mange. She will need to finish up a round of antibiotics to treat her skin condition from the flea infestation and receive fish oil going forward. As for her legs, the vet confirmed what we already knew. Hope has extensive ligament damage. As a result, she's developed arthritis. Because of her age (the vet believes Hope to be about 10 years old) and the type of damage, there is no surgery or anything that can be done to reverse it. Hope will ... (Read More)need to remain on joint supplements (glucosamine) for the rest of her life. Hope can walk independently, but it's more of a shuffle because of her bowed legs. She can stand and lie down by herself, but everything is shaky and hard for her. As she gets up and down, her legs struggle to hold the weight so they shake. She doesn't make a lot of eye contact and hasn't quite figured out how to respond to people talking to her or petting her. She is in there though. She just doesn't know what to do with us people yet, but she will eventually come around. Everyone who has met Hope says they know exactly what needs to be prescribed for her. A healthy dose of TLC with no limit on refills. And that's exactly what she's getting. Hope is available for adoption, so please continue to spread the word about this sweet girl. Let's find her the loving forever home she definitely deserves. Thank you. O.S.C.A.R. Hope would do best in a home where he can be spoiled rotten. She likes people a lot. Hope has no exposure to other dogs so she has no clue how to act around them. She would do best in a calmer home where she can be the only dog. Interested in adopting? Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Poor sweet Zella was picked up as a stray and brought to a 'kill shelter' in GA. She most likely spent most of her life either neglected or abused. She belly crawls to you, but is very grateful for human interaction. She is very affectionate, but is in need of some basic training. It seems that she has never known the love of a family. She is very docile and gentle. All this little girl wants is some love and attention. She needs to be a part of a family. My sweet girl is 2 years old and weighs 40+ pounds. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Woof WoofI'm Cornbread and I'm so glad you are reading this! I'm a cornbread colored German Shepherd mix with white paws which look like socks! Trust me, I'm a unique looking boy! While I'm moderately strong on leash when I first come out, I calm down quickly and walk pretty well for a dog of my size. The volunteers tell me I'll walk really nicely once I get into a regular exercise routine. After all, who wouldn't want to walk a cornbread colored guy wearing white socks? I'm very comfortable being handled. The nice volunteers love to pet and hug me and it feels so good! If you are looking for a relaxed rather than goofy loving dog, I'm ... (Read More)the one for you! Also, I passed my food test with flying colors. The volunteers moved and took my food away while I ate and it didn't bother me one bit! After all, I'm a confident guy! I also tested very well with the nice female dog, Beauty. We walked together, sniffed each other, and hung out off-leash in the backyard. I also lived with another male dog at the shelter, Cinnabon. If you have a dog, please bring them down so we can see if we hit it off in the same way. I do have a moderate prey drive and would do best in a house without cats. However, people and most dogs are fine by me! If you are looking for a unique looking and confident dog, then please come down to the shelter and meet me! Please bring this short application with you to make the adoption process really easy: http://www.jaconline.org/s1/forms/Pre-adoptionForm.doc Get ready to have some Cornbread! You will love it - I promise! ***************************** The Rescue me! system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Thank you! (Less)
