Rescue Me ID: 15-02-26-00221MARLEY (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is MARLEY, she was heartlessly discarded as a puppy because her ears didn't meet the 'standard' for a German Shepherd! Typical of a shepherd, Marley is a bit reserve with her affection and a little shy in the beginning as she slowly warms up to humans. Here at the shelter she is great with other dogs and has become the greeter and comforter to the new arrivals. Marley loves romping outdoors and will be quick to alert you when something is out of the norm. She will be a great and loyal addition to an active and loving family. Marley is full grown at about 60lbs., spayed, up to date on her vacs and micro- chipped. ... (Read More)Unfortunately the facility that Marley currently calls 'home' is in the high kill state of Texas, where there are too many great dogs and too few great adopters. And we know the heart breaking truth of that scenario. So we are looking for Marley's new forever home in the dog friendly East. We transport our dogs bi-monthly to their new homes via Rescue Road Trips. Marley's adoption fee is $170 and her safe and secure transport in $185. If you are interested in making Marley part of your family, email us for an adoption application and let's get this sweet girl home! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00382Hunter (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

White German Shepherd, full breed. Good with baby but bites feet and ankles of 8 year old son. Very destructive and hard (for me) to train. Tries to be dominant to all other members of the family except for myself (father) most of the time. Listens and behaves for the most part when I am around, but as soon as I leave the room does whatever he wants. Can't get him to stop biting at the feet and legs of 8 year old son and just doesn't bring any joy to the family at all, which is a shame. House trained and in desperate need of somebody who has in depth knowledge of German Shepherd training.

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00136TACO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

TACO was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18th December 2014, with severe demodex mange and skin infections, his feet were very swollen and bleeding. TACO came to rescue and started treatment and over time he started to do really well. Initially he would stay in his crate that was in the bedroom, but that was more as he didn't want the other dogs to stand on his very sore feet. Over time and healing TACO started to socialize more with the rest of the dogs and the more he healed the more he played. On 17th February he was neutered, he still has a good amount of hair to grow, but it is coming along great. TACO is a very sweet, ... (Read More)affectionate boy, when he has gained all his weight and fully recovered, he will truly be a magnificent sable boy. He loves playing with the other dogs, he is getting very active and would benefit from an active family who will be willing to take him on lots of adventures to different places. TACO will need basic and hopefully advanced training with his new family - this not only helps set down boundaries and expectations, but allows both dog and family learn each others personalities and body-language. TACO is going to be a big boy and will need plenty of exercise, both mental and physical. TACO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of around 16 December 2013 and at the time of his neuter surgery in February 2015 he weighed 59.0 pounds. TACO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00058IVA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

IVA was originally an owner surrender to Kerry County Animal Control in December 2011. She had given birth to 4 puppies, 2 had died, the other 2, I discovered when back at rescue had parvo, and IVA had tested postive for heart-worm disease. Not the best start, but we got her through - we fought with the puppies to stay alive and they did, which we then found them wonderful forever homes. We had IVA treated for the heart-worm disease and she also found a family to adopt her. Sadly a few weeks ago, I had a phone call from IVA's family saying they could no longer care for her, she kept digging or climbing the fence and they didn't have the ... (Read More)time to exercise her like she needed. So on 21st February 2015 IVA came back to rescue. We need to get her to the vets to have a heart-worm test, since her last one was 2013, she needs her very long nails clipped but other than that she is in good shape, but clearly with a LOT of pent up energy, which after a few days being with the pack, she will hopefully have found release for some of it at least. IVA is a great girl, she is very friendly and loving and even though she is around 4.5 years old, she still is a very high energy girl, who absolutely LOVES to play ball / fetch. IVA does jump up and pulls a lot on the leash, which leads me to believe that she has rarely been taken on walks and left to exercise in the yard, which will have ultimately led to her destructive behaviour of digging and wanting to escape by climbing the fence. IVA is a stunning bi-colour GSD, she is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, will be heart-worm tested, but has been on prevention and she is micro-chipped. She weighs arond 65 pounds and has a date of birth of around 3 July 2011. We are hoping to find IVA a loving, active family that has the time to give her physical and mental exercise and the love and caring home that she deserves. IVA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00015CHULA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CHULA was saved from the streets by a family in San Antonio. They said they kept her for a month whilst they tried to find her owners, but no one responded so they asked GaDaH to take her in. Whilst talking to the lady she told me that CHULA had gotten into several fights with her pit-bull. CHULA (named by the family) came to rescue on 21st February 2015. In the car over here she was as sweet as can be, but did show a few signs of apprehension. At the rescue in the treatment area with fence panels separating her from the other dogs she was clearly not comfortable and did not want to go near the fence. I stayed with her to reassure her and ... (Read More)it was clear that she was bonding with me. I let two dogs into the treatment area and she became quite protective when the dogs came near me. I have spent time working with her and she has gotten much better and when she is with the dogs in the rescue area she is ok, however, if I sit down she will come and sit or stand by me and not like it if any other dogs come near me. She has not been aggressive, but I have been a strong alpha and let her know that this behaviour is unacceptable. I am sure when she has settled and realizes she is safe and fits in with the pack she will be fine, but this will most likely be her behaviour when she goes to her new family as once again she will have been uprooted and insecure, so she will need time, patience, understanding and a family willing to work with her if she gets like this. Other than her initial protectiveness, CHULA is an absolute sweetheart, she is very responsive, very willing to please and happy to be with her human. CHULA has clearly had an up-rooted life and needs to find a family that can offer her that stability and security that humans and animals alike need. CHULA will need an alpha personality family as she will need someone to look up to for when she is feeling insecure, plus if she is being protective she needs someone who she respects and so will listen when they tell her 'NO'. CHULA will benefit from a family that has time to take her places so that she can take in the sights and smells of the world, she is a young girl and so will need not only physical but mental exercise also. CHULA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested and micro-chipped. CHULA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BENSON was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 14th February 2015. He was saved as part of our traditional anniversary saves, in honour of the dogs and pups that we have saved that didn't make it. BENSON and his brother BYRON had sarcoptic mange and so needed to be isolated, treated and given medicated baths. BENSON is a confident pup, he is playful, active, of course he has found his voice and he is affectionate, always coming to the crate door to greet me. BENSON uses the puppy pads and loves to play with the squeaky toys. He is looking for a family that has time to teach and guide him through his puppy months, to take him to ... Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00207ARIELA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ARIELA was saved from Companion Animal Alliance, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was scheduled to be killed and we managed to arrange flights with Pilots n Paws to fly her to safety at the rescue in Devine, on 13th February 2015. ARIELA did have a skin condition where she had tested negative for sarcoptic mange, but the vet wanted to treat her as a precaution and has since cleared up! At the rescue ARIELA has been great, she is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is always smiling. She comes up to be fussed on, but is not demanding and imposing. She gets on great with the other dogs and has been happy to play with them all. She is still very ... (Read More)'puppy' and loves to play hide and seek with shoes! ARIELA is hoping to find an active family that will take her to lots of interesting places and let her take in the sights and smells the world has to offer. She would benefit from at least basic obedience, but hopefully advanced training also. This not only helps to lay down the boundaries and expectations, but also helps to build a bond and more of an understanding of personalities and body language. ARIELA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She did test positive for heart-worm disease but we are hoping to get her treated by the end of February 2015. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00157SKYLAR (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red in-flammed skin that is being treated and healing well. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no ... (Read More)way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease which the rescue will be getting treated around the end of February. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 We will be happy to process and approve adopters before his heartworm treatment so as soon as he is fully healthy he can go on to start his new life.     Cheyenne had been left outside by her family in the care of a neighbor, but her owner never returned for her. On Christmas day, Cheyenne gave birth to seven puppies, three males and four females. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-08-00178BELLE (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. Thankfully the surgery was 100% success, the distemper was stopped from spreading and because the neurological symptoms were caught almost immediately there are no neurological side effects of distemper symptoms. One downside is that BELLE has lost almost all of her teeth. This does not hinder her ... (Read More)in anyway at all and she happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for fighting and battling the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. I have not kept them in a crate they have had free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE is spayed, rabies, up to date on her vaccines, de-wormed, she tested negative for heart-worm and the 3 tick diseases and she is micro-chipped. BELLE weighs around 70 pounds. BELLE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170. Although located in Texas we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC., a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) is $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-08-00176AMMO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AMMO was saved from Dallas Animal Services with an injured leg. He was taken directly to our orthopedic surgery where x-rays showed an old injury of a broken front right leg. Surgery was performed the next day where the bones were re-aligned and a plate screwed to keep them in place. AMMO stayed at the vets for a week to be sure there was not any complications and the plate sets correctly as the bones start to heal. AMMO was brought to the rescue on 30th January and he has to have 3 weeks strict crate rest with minimal exercise to allow his leg to heal. He will be going for a check-up around 21st February and hopefully Dr. Deason ... (Read More)(orthopedic surgeon - Deason Animal Hospital) will then release him to be available for adoption. He will still have to have limited exercise and limited leash walks which will gradually increase over the next 4 weeks. Everyone that has met AMMO, from the shelter staff, the people that helped to transport him down from Dallas to Dr. Deason himself has commented on what a great dog he is. Dr. Deason was amazed at even though he was in considerable pain when he had him for examination, he was still very sweet. I asked for AMMO to have x-rays taken of his hips and Dr. Deason told me that he has a mild-moderate hip dysplasia on his right hip and his left him looks normal. I asked about doing an FHO and he told me that currently AMMO does not warrent FHO surgery, however, yearly x-rays will monitor any deterioration and it could be a consideration in a few years. (FHO surgery can cost around $800-$1,000). It is advised that AMMO be given joint and bone supplements for the rest of his life, which is recommended for GSDs of his age anyway. Dr. Deason also recommended that he have his teeth cleaned, this was not able to be done during surgery as any dental work should be done several months after any other surgery due to the high bacteria in the mouth. His teeth are good for a dog his age, but would benefit from a good clean. AMMO is a great dog, once his leg has healed he will be back to running around and playing and catching up on being able to release all that German Shepherd Dog Energy. He has a great temperament and is an all round happy dog. He is good with other dogs, although when eating in his crate does growl if another dogs comes close, so there could be a little bit of food protection that would need to be watched. He is, however, very responsive and I don't see this being a problem with the correct guidance and training. AMMO was neutered at the time of his leg surgery, he has his rabies and core vaccines, he is de-wormed, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. AMMO has an estimated date of birth of January 2010 and he weighs around 68-70 pounds. AMMO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-08-00152DEMI (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

DEMI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services on 25th November 2014. She was very nervous of humans and dogs. Since being at the rescue her confidence has built and she now loves to run and play with the other dogs, often instigating play with the younger and older dogs. She has gained confidence with humans too, although she still shows some caution, which being aloof is a German Shepherd quality. She is great when she has decided you are ok and loves to get and give as much loving as she can. I do believe that she has at some point been abused as she does cower if you walk towards her, this I am working on to show her that not all ... (Read More)humans are bad. DEMI would benefit from an active family who has the time and interest to spend with her taking her on adventures and working with her on basic and advanced training, something all dogs and families benefit from and need. DEMI is a smart girl and very responsive and I believe with the correct guidance and training she will pick things up very quickly. DEMI has lot of potential and is at a great age to do lots of fun activities with. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment on how she is with cats. DEMI has an estimated date of birth of 24 November 2013. She is spayed, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Heart-worm tested NEGATIVE, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She is around 42.50 pounds (Nov 2014) and needs to gain a good amount of weight. He estimated average weight when fully grown 'could' be around 65 pounds. DEMI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

MEYHA - ** NO SMALL ANIMALS** *** MEYHA has HIGH PREY DRIVE for SMALL ANIMALS! MEYHA was saved from Longview, TX where she had been found very emaciated. She is a stunning girl, with a unique look of having one blue eye and one brown eye. MEYHA is very responsive and automatically sat when I got treats out, she is very alert and has a high energy. MEYHA is a high energy dog who loves to run and play and have as much fun as she can in one day. She is great with the other dogs, but can get a bit of a bully when she is initially running around and starting to release her own energy, but it is more of trying to get the other dog to play with ... (Read More)her. MEYHA would suit an active family that has time to do things with her, she would excel in any activity that she is trained, or allowed to do and enjoy. She is lots of fun and is an all round happy dog. At night she likes to lie as close to my bed as she can and always greets me with a kiss. MEYHA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of February 2013. MEHYA came with a report from the shelter that she has a high prey drive for small animals - this includes small dogs, cats and wildlife. Due to this MEYHA MUST always be kept leashed whilst out and under no circumstances be allowed near small animals, even if she is leashed, it is not fair on her or the other animal. Her prey drive is a natural instinct and is nothing she should be punished for and so keeping her away from potential "prey" and secured fenced yard must be agreed to. Apart from barking up a tree at squirrels with the rest of the dogs, I have not seen her have this prey drive, we do not have cats at the rescue and only medium sized dogs which she has no interest in!     SAYDEE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She had been picked up by animal control after being hit and dragged by a car causing her cuts and a bruised lung. SAYDEE has been quite since at the rescue which is understandable, she came having a bruised lung and staples in her muzzle. SAYDEE is great with the other dogs, whilst not yet running around and being playful, I do feel that when she has healed completely she will be a lot of fun. We do not have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on her behaviour around cats. SAYDEE will be suitable for a relatively active family, she is 3 years old, which is still ...     CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

KODA was saved from BARC shelter in Houston. He was an owner surrender because they couldn't care for him and he kept escaping. KODA is a great boy, he is responsive and friendly. He is well mannered and only jumps up occasionally and that is more when he see's the other dogs doing it. KODA is great with other dogs, although he is not fearful of letting them know he wants to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue and so we are unable to say how he is with cats. His owners said he kept escaping, but that is most likely as he was being left with nothing to occupy his mind and no way to expel his energy. KODA, as with all dogs will ... (Read More)benefit with some training from his new family so that boundaries and expectations can be laid down and to give both time to bond and learn each others ways and body language. KODA as mentioned is very responsive and with a family that understands German Shepherds mental and physical needs would be a pleasure to train with. KODA is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. KODA had tested positive for heart-worm disease, but received treatment on 2nd/3rd January 2015. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

LOBO was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 31st January 2015. He had been at the shelter twice before but this time he was an owner surrender. The reason the family gave was because he kept escaping. His original owner found him.in a ditch when he was a puppy. LOBO does have a front claw foot, which was apparently a birth defect, where his toes are separated. He used the claw to climb the chain link fence. He went back home then a couple months later his owner had health issues and his wife brought took him to the shelter. He was adopted from the shelter again and then got out from that family and was picked up by Animal Control. He ... (Read More)is now safe in rescue and we will be sure to find him a perfect family that has time to spend with him and give him no reason to even want to climb a fence. LOBO is a very friendly boy, he is very active and jumps very high from a standing position, so it is easy to see that he can escape. LOBO is clealry an active boy and although at times he limps/hobbles on his front leg, his foot causes him no concern and there is no reason for any kind of surgery. LOBO needs an active family that will not just leave him outside to get up to mischief and find a way of escaping, he needs a family that will be an integral part of his life, who will take him places and spend lots of fun quality time with him. I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activiites such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. LOBO does need basic training and would benefit from a family who is willing to take the time to educate and train with him, a great way to bond and set boundaries and for each other to learn body language, voice tone and over-all personalities. LOBO does jump up a lot at the moment so families with small children would have to be cautious of this and make his jumping up a priority to work on, he is very responsive and I do not see it taking very long with the correct training and guidance. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment as to how he is with cats. LOBO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and is mirco-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2012 and currently weighs (January 2015) around 55 pounds. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet BARON - this handsome, super intelligent boy is still waiting for the right family to find him. BARON, we believe is a PANDA SHEPHERD and is so smart and full of life. He is a complete love bug, he loves to play with dogs or humans, last night he was rolling round in the hay that Donald was trying to put out and then giving him kisses before rolling around again. BARON is one of those vocal dogs, not necessarily barking, but he likes to talk and make sure you are listening. BARON is VERY responsive, but he also is the dog that will "at times" push you to your limits, but he always knows when he has pushed a little bit too ... (Read More)much as he will run off and play as if nothing has ever happened. BARON does bark a lot when people are at the other side of the fence, I wouldn't say this is fence-aggression, its just that he wants to be out there. I take him in the woods with my own dogs off leash and he doesn't run far, he stays close by and will come in when told to. BARON is full of energy, he needs an active family and he needs a family that has time to work on obedience, advance and then other kinds of training. BARON is the dog that needs to be doing something. At times it is as if he doesn't know how to behave and so guidance and supervision is a must until he is settled and everyone is confident in that he understands and knows how to behave. BARON is truly a great dog, but as mentioned he needs an experienced family who are active and love working with dogs. Someone who understands that these dogs can easily manipulate us humans and out-smart us easily! BARON will give the right family a LOT of fun and pride as he will excel in all that he is taught to do. BARON is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of approximately September 2011 and he weighs around 65-70 pounds. BARON is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. She is very affectionate and gentle. CLARICE is great with other dogs and is happy to sit back and watch the world go by. CLARICE is a young girl who would benefit from an active family. Someone who understands the needs of this intelligent breed, who understands that they need lots of stimulation and both mental and ... (Read More)physical exercise. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. CLARICE is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train and would absolutely benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family so that boundaries and expectations can be set, and through the training, bonding and understanding of each others body-language can be gained. CLARICE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested NEGATIVE and mirco-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 30th June 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 66 pounds. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SASHA was saved from Fort Worth Animal services on 4th February 2015. SASHA is a stunning Red and Black German Shepherd and is a high energy girl, who gets on great with other dogs. She does jump up and needs work on her manners but this is mostly due to being excited. SASHA will benefit from a family that has the time to spend with an active dog, bearing in mind that German Shepherds stay active for many years and are not the kind of dogs to be left to entertain themselves in your yard. She will need a family that understands the need for stimulation and both mental and physical exercise. She will, as all dogs, benefit from basic and ... German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BECKY was once in San Antonio Animal Care Services, but she thought she had found her perfect forever family. Sadly, they did not give her a chance and she was returned to once again be on death row. Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue saved her and brought her back to the pack. BECKY is extremely active, LOVES her toys, LOVES to run and chase around, she can get vocal when she plays and gets excited, but that is pretty standard for dogs, just like excited children lol. BECKY is responsive to commands although I have not done any training with her, she will be very easy to train. BECKY would suit an active family who can give her ... (Read More)both the mental and physical exercise that she needs to keep her busy and out of mischief. BECKY has an estimated date of birth of around 2nd February 2013. She is spayed, rabies, current on her vaccines, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease, de-wormed and micro-chipped She is great with kids, as long as they respect her boundaries and understand that dogs too need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how she is with cats, however, she is still relatively young and could be taught to leave them alone, if she did have that 'interest'.

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-01-00107AMMO (male)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-01-00104LOBO (male)

I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activities such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. KODA as mentioned is very responsive and with a family that understands German Shepherds mental and physical needs would be a pleasure to train with.     ARETO was saved from San Antonio Animal Services. She had been picked up during the night and since she was injured taken to the animal hospital for x-rays. She is limping, not using her rear leg and had a wound on her front leg. X-rays did not show any orthopedic damage, so ligament damage is suspected. Her wounds were treated and pain, anti-inflammatory and anti-biotics subscribed. She was taken to our vets and she has a torn ACL, surgery has been scheduled for her to have TPLO surgery on Wednesday 7th January. She will take a few weeks to recover and then towards the end of January she will be available for adoption. Her new family will ... ARETO will be hoping to find an active, loving family. Once she has recovered from her surgery which takes a few months she will be raring to go. She is wanting a family that has a little patience that understands what she has been through she may need some time to warm up and learn to trust. She will benefit form basic obedience with the family so that she can learn and understand her boundaries and what was expected from her. This also give the family time to understand her body language and what makes her tick. ARETO is extremely affectionate, she loves to sleep up on the bed with me. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Like her namesake, Janeway is an intrepid explorer. She is a 3 year old people oriented pure bred German Shepherd. Janeway loves to hop in the car and go exploring and enjoys playing with human friends. She is a bit on the small side for a German Shepherd, just under 50 pounds, but she is a bundle of joy and love. Janeway is not to keen on playing with four legged friends, so she would do best to be in a home with no other animals. She would do well with an active family or active single person. She will bring fun, excitement and joy to your life.

Rusty is a handsome Retriever/Hound mix. He and his sister Sara were adopted out in the summer of 2009 as puppies. They were recently returned through no fault of their own. Sara and Rusty are very bonded to one another as they are litter mates and have been together their whole lives. However, they are doing well being separated at the shelter. While we would love to find them a home together, they would be fine going to separate homes as well. They are both very sweet playful dogs who just need more exercise and attention than they were getting in their previous home. They are a little shy at first since they were never taken anywhere or ...     Gunther is a beautiful dog approx. 2 1/2 years of age. He is smart, knowing many basic obdience commands such as sit, lay down, give paw and he is eager to continue to learn. He is outgoing and friendly and will benefit from an owner who will provide him with some type of daily exercise. He also enjoys a daily walk, walks well on leash and is dog friendly (with the proper introductions that we do here at our shelter) so he may make a great friend for your current dog. We do recommend a home with teenagers + and know Gunther will make a great pet and friend. Please stop in soon to meet him. To fill out an adoption application, please go to ...     My brother lost his job and his home in PA where the two dogs used to live. He now moved back to our home in Edison but our yard is very small and the dogs are in our basement due to size (small home, two cats upstairs). We're not sure if my brother will be able to get a home like he used to have (big property) and now we feel the dogs need a deserving home. One was adopted. The other dog 3 years old, German Shepard/border collie mix, male, neutered with rabies shots. German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Moose is a well-loved, 8 year old German Shepherd looking for a new home. His previous owner died very suddenly and the surviving family cannot provide a suitable home for him. He has a typical Shepherd personality- he is pretty guarded with those he does not know well, but supremely loyal and protective of his family. He loves to play with toys, especially ones he can rip apart (which is most of them). Fetch is his favorite game, especially outside in a nice backyard with his big blue ball- he will chase it down again and again, until his knees start to bother him. He is fairly independent and used to having space to himself. During the ... (Read More)day, he mostly likes to lie down and nap. In the evening, he is perfectly happy to lay down near his companion and gnaw on a bone. Moose is a very loving and affectionate dog, but definitely has moods where he does not want to be touched. Usually this is when he is lying down and in a vulnerable position. Someone with GSD experience and knowledge of this particular temperament is a must! Moose has lived the majority of his life with only one owner for a companion, and would do best in a similar environment. He would not do well in home with children or other dogs. (Less)
