Rescue Me ID: 17-11-13-00221Freddy (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Freddy is about 12-14 weeks old and he is a Statia pup! What is a Statia pup? Statia dogs are mix breed pups with smooth soft coats and funny big ears and they are from the island of St Eustatius. St Eustatius is beautiful but life can be hard for dogs there. Franky and his brother Freddy were dropped off at the shelter just before all 3 hurricanes hit the island. The first time they opened their eyes was probably during a hurricane. Lucky for them, the kind people at SEAWF shelter took care of them until they were able to bring them to FHDR. The breeds on the island are different than in the US, so we can't tell for sure what breed ... (Read More)Franky, but we know he is 100% sweetness. We also think he will be on the smaller size for a Shepherd mix. Freddy's foster family says...'Freddy is unbelievably sweet! And, he is a bundle of affection! Freddy is fabulous and docile, yet very playful and perky. He absolutely adores other dogs! Freddy has a tail that does not stop wagging and he does this cute wiggle. When you walk towards him or you are just getting home, Freddy wags his tail with so much excitement that he can't even stand still. Another thing is even if he wants to play, if you lay down with him on a couch or a bed, he will not lay anywhere else besides right next to you. Freddy also doesn't bark a lot only when he is trying to ask you to go out. He is great with sitting and getting used to laying down when you ask him. When we take him out and come back inside, he runs as fast as he can right back to the door and then he puts his front two feet on the ledge waiting for the door to open! Freddy loves to relax on towels, jackets, and just about anything soft and warm! He is a complete cuddle bug and loves to be simply be with people. He Loves People! Freddy makes us laugh when he grabs his toys and carries them around. st Give Freddy a belly rub and he is one happy puppy! Freddy makes us laugh a lot'| when we sit on the floor, he will run up to us carrying a toy or lay down with us. He is irresistible! Freddy sleeps through the night without having accidents and he is house trained'| he will cry when he wants to go out. Freddy loves to please and he is a very smart puppy!' We listed Freddy as a special needs pup because he has been diagnosed with a mild case of CMO. CMO is an affliction that effects the jaw bone. Freddy's vet said his prognosis is very good, and he currently has no restrictions or side effects. He is eating good, he is happy and he is playful. Freddy is winning everyone's heart! If you have a furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FHDR@att.net and request an adoption application. Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be alone all day. The breed and age of this pet is listed as is our best guess. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-03-00250Brandi (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brandi - 8 Year Old Bundle of Love The first thing you notice about Brandi is that she always seems to have a smile on her face. It is difficult to believe this joyously friendly dog was found as a stray. This girl just craves attention and will just roll over on her back and wait for you to give her a nice belly rub. Although she came to us with some excess pounds, she still loves to be active and play with her toys. She has her favorite squeaky toy, which she loves to fetch and when she is done playing, she just wants to snuggle up next to her new best friends. Brandi would be great in a household just looking for a friend, someone ... (Read More)who will be happy to greet you when you walk in the house and provide you with joy and affection. Brandi gets excited around other dogs, we aren't yet sure if she would be happy in a home with other dogs or not, so a proper meeting would be necessary. She enjoys chasing cats and squirrels, so no kitties or birds in her new home. She loves belly rubs and rolling around on the ground. She has some arthritis in her front legs, but we feel with her continuing to get a healthy diet, lose some weight, and proper medication that she will provide years of love to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Goliath may be a big guy, but his heart is just as big! When driving him up from the shelter where he was surrendered, he gave one of our volunteers lots of gentle kisses. Goliath has some food guarding which we believe was from his owners letting their children tease the dog. He seems to be afraid that you'll take the food away from him. Once he saw that our volunteer at the kennel weren't going to steal his food from him, he relaxed. He even leaves some to come back for later! He does gulp his food a bit as well, so our volunteers have introduced him to a slow feeder. Due to the food guarding, we recommend that he go to a home with an ... (Read More)experienced Shepherd owner and NO CHILDREN. 'He doesn't seem to have any toy guarding but due to his size we recommend that his new family go slowly with playing with him - he does love to chase the ball and play keep away like most Shepherds! He needs to work on his leash manners and pulling but that just requires some training with the owner... we think he's about 3 years old. We're not sure yet if he's dog or cat friendly, he doesn't seem to mind other dogs that he sees at the kennel and wants to play when he's looking at them through the fence. Goliath is fully vaccinated and neutered. He loves to frolic and play with his toys! He never turns down a good belly rub and he loves to snuggle. Romeo has pretty severe hip ... (Read More)dysplasia in both of his hips. Both of our vets did not recommend surgery for him. It does not bother him currently and he gets around wonderfully! He can walk and run and play and jump and all that fun stuff still. He just looks a little funny as he does so. His hips do not slow him down at all but it is important to note that later on in life he could need surgery or therapy, and he may develop arthritis. He walks well on a leash and is crate trained. Although he loves it he wouldn't be the best for extensive hiking or as a running buddy due to his hips. He is just an amazing dog with an amazing spirit. Everyone that meets him loves him!! He will make a great pet for any family. He is currently located down South at our sister shelters and available for pre-adoption. We do transports to NJ once a month. He can't wait to find his forever home! (Less)

Romeo is a lovable, and as you can see, a loving German Shepherd mix. His favorite activity is giving and receiving hugs and kisses. As his name would imply, Romeo is extremely friendly, always ready to meet and engage with new people. Our boy Romeo came to us from a city shelter. The story is that he had a girl friend named Juliette (true story) and that he spent a fair amount of time with Juliette as a stray. They may have even made a few puppies along the way. Juliette found a new home, so now Romeo is looking to shower his affection with his own family. (Minus, of the course, the ability to make puppies). Romeo is friendly with ...     Hello, my name is Rizzo. I am around 10 months old! We think I am a shepherd mix, but I am a little bit small and only weight about 40lbs :) I was brought into the vet's office by some very kind firemen who found me wandering the streets hungry and scared. I am in foster care now and it's soooo much better, but I am really looking for my forever family. I am young and healthy. I love to run, play and splash in the water. I also love hugs, ear scratches and tummy rubs. I'm a little nervous and coward down sometimes, but my sweet foster Mom pets me and talks to me softly and I know everything is gonna be ok. Buffy is 2 years old, 43 pounds, housebroken, utd on her vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped and HW negative. She knows how to sit and will do so when asked. She takes her treats very gently. We believe she would be great with children, but care should be taken with young children, who could be knocked over accidently through play. Rosie can take off at full speed to fetch her toy then turn on a dime to rush back to greet her friends.
