Hi, I am Tulip! I am an adorable 6 month old German Shepherd mix puppy. I have lots of energy to run around and play. I love to go exploring, but I can be a little timid at first. I'm housebroken, I know my name and I know what 'no' means. I'm not agressive and I don't mind cats. Right now I am in a foster home with two other dogs and we get along very well. They are a lot of fun to play with and teach me how to be a good pet. I'm spayed and fully vaccinated. I don't need much, just an active family that will love me and play with me. I promise to be a loving, loyal companion that will always greet you with a wagging tail. Can you ... (Read More)take me home? Please email info@sochidogs.org www.sochidogs.org (Less)

It hurts to write this, but im going to have to find a new home for my best friend very soon, and i want him to get what he really deserves. This is an amazing, beautiful mix breed dog. Shows traits of shepherd, hound, boxer, and lab, maybe ridgeback. This dogs name is Toadie. Ive had him for the majority of my 20's. He will be 7 in december. Hes the best hiking partner ive ever had, climbs and scales boulders like a mountain lion, swims like a champ, sleeps next to you on the ground in the middle of the woods next to a campfire, loves the beach, and loves a good scoop of vanilla ice cream (once in a while) and kickin' it on the couch at ... (Read More)the end of a long day. Idealy, i see this dog going to a one on one situation, unless youre the 'dog whisperer', as he loves attention. Hes not terrible with other dogs, he just has his moments. He was a rescue when i got him at 6 months old and had already had 3 different owners before me. I also see this dog going to maybe a more mature single guy, whos just looking for a companion, and this person should have space to let him enjoy, or lots of time to spendwith him. He does really well with women too, very affectionate, and protective. I would not suggest this dog to go to anyone having children. Hes big. Hes not a huge barker at all. The only times he barks, are when hes supposed to.. Bear in the woods, house intruder, etc. he would be a great guard dog, he is extremely loyal to his owner, and still has a lot of life left in him. Hes a goofball, he will make you laugh and melt on a daily basis. Toadie is fixed, has had rabies shots whenever due, and has always been pretty all around healthy. Last year he sadly had a Lymes outbreak. He was in the hospital for a day, and on antibiodics for a few weeks after. Ever since the initial outbreak, where he was weak for a few days, he has never showed signs of that weakness again. Again, this dog, coming from a rescue background, needs someone who has the ability to give him the time and attention he deserves. Please contact me for any more personal info or to arrange a meeting. We will currently be residing in somerville but my life is spread out between the jersey shore all the way up to the clifton area, so i can meet anywhere. Please help me find a paradise for my best friend (Less)

Girlie is a great dog. I've had her since she was 6 weeks old and someone left her in a park. My house is being sold on tuesday so I will no longer be able to kept her. I just want a loving home for her. She grew up around my nephew and other small children so she is good with kids. She listens better to men than females but is a very good dog all around. She is very protective of her house and owners so she can seems a little aggressive when you first meet her but after 5 mins of knowing her you will become her best friend. She loves to cuddle in bed and play outside. She knows how to sit, lay down and give paw. She is crate trained and ... (Read More)potty trained. She needs a lot of love and attention. She does not play well with other animals because she loves all the attention on her. She loves to go for walks and to lay outside. She is like a child and will try to push your buttons to see how much she came get away with but will listen to you is you are stern with her. I am doing everything I can to keep her from going to a shelter because she will be put to sleep if she ends up there and that is the last thing I want. She comes with a year supply of heartgard and frontline. Please feel free to call me if you are interested. Thank you. (Less)

Animal ID: 134474Darla (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Darla is a recent 2 year old Shepherd/Collie mix owner surrender. Although she is a pretty girl, she wasn't cared for in her previous home. Her coat was not in good shape, and although I tried to brush her, she acted like she didn't know what in the world I was doing to her. An indication she was never brushed. She didn't know how to walk on a lead but with some practice, she should improve. Darla did release the rawhide and her food test was fine. Darla seemed like she was never socialized with other dogs and didn't seem to care for them. A one dog home would be best for her.

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-02-00650Kody (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Kody is a 5 1/2 year old male Sable German Shepherd, who was pulled from the Cumberland County SPCA. We were able to confirm from his breeder that he will be 6 years old this September. Currently he is enjoying his time with his foster family. He is a friendly mid-level energy dog and greets everyone he meets with a smile and tail wag. He seems aloof at first but will quickly warm up to you if you have treats and a toy in hand. He has impeccable house manners, understands his basic commands and walks nicely on a leash. While Kody is most content to hang back and relax at your side, he does enjoy a good game of fetch when engaged. Prior to ... (Read More)being placed into his second home, Kody did live with another dog but appears to be dog selective. With proper introductions, he could possibly cohabitate with another large dog, but he probably would do better as the only pet in the home. He DOES NOT do well with cats. So absolutely no cats or other small critters for this boy. Kody is neutered and is now up-to-date on his shots. For more information or to adopt Kody, please feel free to email us at adopt@gsrnj.org or give us a call at 1.844.694.7765. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-28-00236SKYLAR (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red in-flammed skin but with treatment, love, care and the best pack healing he has made a 100% recovery and looking GREAT. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR ... (Read More)was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease, but has had heart-worm treatment in March 2015. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. LLC, both highly reputable animal rescue transport companies to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). These are private companies and their transport fee's (which is paid directly to them) are $175 and $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-28-00196CLARICE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. She is very affectionate and gentle. CLARICE is great with other dogs and is happy to sit back and watch the world go by. CLARICE is a young girl who would benefit from an active family. Someone who understands the needs of this intelligent breed, who understands that they need lots of stimulation and both mental and ... (Read More)physical exercise. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. CLARICE is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train and would absolutely benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family so that boundaries and expectations can be set, and through the training, bonding and understanding of each others body-language can be gained. CLARICE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested NEGATIVE and mirco-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 30th June 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 66 pounds. CLARICE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $100 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-25-00224LOBO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

LOBO was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 31st January 2015. He had been at the shelter twice before but this time he was an owner surrender. The reason the family gave was because he kept escaping. His original owner found him.in a ditch when he was a puppy. LOBO does have a front claw foot, which was apparently a birth defect, where his toes are separated. He used the claw to climb the chain link fence. He went back home then a couple months later his owner had health issues and his wife brought took him to the shelter. He was adopted from the shelter again and then got out from that family and was picked up by Animal Control. He ... (Read More)is now safe in rescue and we will be sure to find him a perfect family that has time to spend with him and give him no reason to even want to climb a fence. LOBO is a very friendly boy, he is very active and jumps very high from a standing position, so it is easy to see that he can escape. LOBO is clealry an active boy and although at times he limps/hobbles on his front leg, his foot causes him no concern and there is no reason for any kind of surgery. LOBO needs an active family that will not just leave him outside to get up to mischief and find a way of escaping, he needs a family that will be an integral part of his life, who will take him places and spend lots of fun quality time with him. I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activiites such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. LOBO does need basic training and would benefit from a family who is willing to take the time to educate and train with him, a great way to bond and set boundaries and for each other to learn body language, voice tone and over-all personalities. LOBO does jump up a lot at the moment so families with small children would have to be cautious of this and make his jumping up a priority to work on, he is very responsive and I do not see it taking very long with the correct training and guidance. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment as to how he is with cats. LOBO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and is mirco-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2012 and currently weighs (January 2015) around 55 pounds. LOBO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-21-00723LACEY (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LACEY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 16th May 2015. This poor little girl is so sweet and loving even though she has half of her ear missing and the around her tail area she has hair missing and her skin was red sore. She is on antibiotics and pain meds and she is doing great, you would never know anything was wrong with her. The shelter had noted that her rear end was raw possibly due to diarrhea, however, since it is round the base of the tail, I am not sure this would be the reason, but it is being treated and she is definitely doing better. LACY is happy to be amongst all of the dogs and is often found lying next to ... (Read More)one of the bigger German Shepherds. She does play a little bit with the puppies, but I think with her ear it is most likely still painful to play puppy-rough. She is an extremely affectionate pup and anytime she can she will snuggle up close to me. We do not know what LACEY is mixed with, but we do think she will be a medium / large size dog. The shelter have her as 3 months old, but I wouldn't be surprised if another vet aged her a month or so younger. She is small, but that might just be from malnutrition and not having the proper start to life. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-13-00564Shelby (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shelby is an energetic, playful German Shepard/Rottweiler mix. We rescued Shelby, and her two little pups, from a high-kill shelter after some thoughtless person dumped them there and drove off. This beautiful girl is very friendly and would love a home with a big yard so she can romp and play to her heart's content! Shelby is two years old and weighs 55 pounds. Please help this gorgeous girl find the loving home she deserves.Shelby would do best in a home where she could be an only dog as she is picky about who her friends are. 5/23/15: When we first got Shelby, we noticed there was something wrong with her eyes. We took her to a ... (Read More)specialist and the diagnosis was more dire than we expected. If Shelby doesn't have surgery, she will eventually go blind. Shelby is already blind in her right eye and there is nothing we can do to change that. At some point, her eye ruptured from some sort of trauma and it was never treated. It does not bother her, but it can't be fixed. Now Shelby is in danger of losing sight in her left eye. Her left eye has a 'dermoid' which is already interfering with her vision. A dermoid is a tissue that does not normally grow on the eye. The tissue has elements of skin and often has a tuft of hair growing from it. Shelby has a tuft of hair. She literally has hair follicles growing out of her eye. Without surgery the dermoid will continue to cause scarring until she is completely blind. 6/23/15 Update: Shelby had her surgery. The dermoid was successfully removed and the vet said she did very well. She is currently on 8 medications (five different eye drops and ointments, two antibiotics and pain medication). She's not too happy about some of the drops, but she is a good girl and stays still for most of them. Being already blind in her left eye, and now having surgery on the right eye, it's been a tough few days for Shelby. But Shelby is a resilient dog and we know, in time, she will recover. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-11-00125GENEVA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

GENEVA was saved with her best buddy ALLEGRA from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 15th March 2015. Both girls had been surrendered by their owner and no reason was given. GENEVA did have some scratches on her face and it appears that although she is not an aggressive dog, she does defend ALLEGRA and I think sometimes with ALLEGRA being very puppy if a dog growls at her to stop, GENEVA steps in. As I say she is not aggressive, I would say more protective and then responds if another dog challenges her. She currently lives with over 50 dogs and there have not been any problems here, they scratches were from prior to her coming to the rescue, ... (Read More)although I do believe that she does have alpha tendencies. GENEVA is very affectionate when she has learnt she can trust you. When I first brought them into rescue as they was so bonded, I kept them together so that they could get used to and adjust to the environment. After a few weeks I was confident they had adjusted and I let them with the other dogs. Initially they stayed together and GENEVA would warn off any dogs that came near ALLEGRA, however, over time ALLEGRA started to gain a lot of confidence and is now just as happy playing, chasing and wrestling with the other dogs and doesn't have that need to be with GENEVA all the time now. GENEVA does play with some of the dogs, but she is happy to entertain herself also, of hang out near me. Initially I had wanted to have ALLEGRA and GENEVA adopted together since they was so bonded, however, now I would be happy to adopt them to their own families who can give them what they need. GENEVA would benefit from a family that understands the need of the German Shepherd Dog and the requirement for not just physical but also mental exercise. She is definitely going to need basic and advanced training and it would be best for the family to do this as it not only creates a stronger bond, but it sets boundaries and expectations and enables both dog and human to learn more about each others personalities, temperaments and body language. I think she would be well suited to an active family who runs or hikes or does lots of fun activities that she can join in with. GENEVA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. ALLEGRA has been given an estimated birth date of 12 July 2014 and at the time of rescue weighed around 47 pounds. GENEVA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $200, If you think you have the love and time to give to this beauty, please go to our website and complete and submit our application form, that can be found under the APPLICATION tab, to get the process underway. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html More photo's of GENEVA can be found by clicking on her picture under the GSD/Terrier tab on the website. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BRAD was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services at 4 weeks old along with his mother and 4 siblings, they had all been scheduled to be killed. I am not sure what breed mix he is - three out of the five siblings are brindle, which makes me think boxer, his mother was a GSD mix, so maybe some lab in there too. BRAD is the largest of his litter mates. At the rescue they have done great and when they had had their second shots they was able to be with the rest of the dogs. This has been great for them as they have been educated in how to behave in the dog world and has given them a great start to the big wide world. BRAD like his siblings ... They know to go outside using the doggy door to do their business, but they sometimes have accidents, or are too lazy to go outside, so I would say to expect a little house-training to be done. They have not been kept in crates, so are not crate trained. BRAD is very confident and was the first of the litter to venture out and play amongst the big dogs. He loves running and chasing and playing with all of the dogs, small terriers to the adult German Shepherds. Although he is the biggest of his litter he is just as affectionate and will no doubt be a BIG LAP dog. BRAD is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micr-chipped. He is too young for heart--worm testing and so will require this when he reaches 9 months of age. BILLY has an estimated date of birth of 31 January 2015 and on 28 April weighed around 15.3 pounds. BRAD is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $200. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

NYX was found as a stray in the Midland, TX area. She had been caught and a microchip led her back to the local shelter, who had confirmed that she had in fact been adopted a year ago. It turns out the person that owned her had died and NYX had been left to fend for herself. I was asked if I would take her into rescue, which as you can see, I agreed to do. NYX when I picked her up was very sweet and affectionate, but she got rather feisty when with other dogs. However, within a few days she has settled in great and lives peacefully with the rest of the dogs Over the weeks her confidence has grown and she is not playing and chasing around, ... (Read More)happy and feeling safe. I do feel that she has some alpha tendencies, however, she has not pursued them after her initial few days here, which can be very stressful and confusing to dogs anyway. This, however, should be worth noting if you are bringing her into a home with other dogs, to just keep an eye on her for the first few days/weeks until she has settled and all dogs know their place in their pack. NYX is a very sweet, affectionate girl, she is bursting with energy and just loves to chase and run with the dogs when they are having their crazy 4 hours lol. She likes her toys and is happy entertaining herself. She does NOT like the crate, but that could also be because I am leaving, I did initially think she might have some separation anxiety due to what she has been through - so although I do not normally use crates, in times like this they are useful. However, over the few weeks, she has not shown any signs of being upset and I leave her with the rest of the dogs when I leave. NYX does pull on the leash, although is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train. As with all German Shepherds they absolutely need and benefit from both basic and advanced training with their family. This not only strengthens the bond, but helps both human and dog learn and understand each others personalities, body language and expectations. Boundaries can also be set. NYX would benefit from an active family who has experience with GSD or working breeds and understands their needs of both physical and mental exercise. A family that can take her on adventures and even a sport or other stimulation that is fun and active. NYX is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and mirco-chipped.She is around 3 years old and weighs approximately 65 pounds. NYX is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. If you think you have what it takes to give this beautiful girl the life that she deserves, please go to our website and under the application tab, complete and submit the application form.     SHERLOCK was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services, a high kill shelter, with a fractured pelvis and paralyzed front leg. With vet care, treatment and lots of TLC by me and the GaDaH pack, SHERLOCK made an amazing recovery. His pelvis fracture healed and he regained movement in his front leg. However, his leg does not function normally, he does use it for balance and support and playing, but he is not able to walk on it like a 4 legged dog. He has seen several vets and all agree that there is no need to amputate it. He would benefit from a family that can take him swimming just to help the muscle in his leg as it is not as strong as ... (Read More)his other leg, due to his leg not being used as much. SHERLOCK was adopted out to a lovely family in OKLAHOMA, near TULSA, however, sadly due to unforeseen personal circumstances they are no longer able to keep him. SHERLOCK has an amazing personality that everyone loves, considering he has suffered as he has, he has the biggest love of life. He loves to ride in the car, he has been great at the groomers, and naturally everyone fell in love with him - his injury just draws people to him and he just laps up all the love and affection. He currently lives with a 14 year old cat that torments him, he plays with her for a while, but when she starts to let him know she is boss, he leaves her alone and finds something else to do. His owner does however, recommend a home with no cats! SHERLOCK still has a puppy personality and although he has had some basic training it would benefit him and his new family to go back to basics so that they can work and learn together, setting boundaries and guidelines and learning each others expectations, temperaments and personalities. Whilst at the rescue SHERLOCK lived amongst 50 other dogs of all ages and sizes and did great, even when he was recovering from his injury. He loves humans and really would prefer to hang out with his human than play with the dogs. With correct training and guidance I believe he would make an outstanding emotional support/therapy dog. SHERLOCK is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm negative, micro-chipped and is used to living in a home with young children visiting. He is an adult male and so weighs around 65-75 pounds. He has a date of birth of around 30 September 2013. SHERLOCK is a very able dog and can keep up playing and having fun with other dogs. SHERLOCK is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 SHERLOCK is currently still living in OHIO, however, we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

CHULA - 2 year female GSD - Bayshore New York - (Zip 11706) CHULA is in need of a new family, her adoption hasn't worked out. Precious CHULA was found roaming the streets of San Antonio Texas, by a family that took her in and then reached out to GaDaH to help. We took her in, got her vetted and ready for her new home. She traveled up to Bayshore New York on 25th March 2015 to start her new life - sadly it is not working out and the family are asking us to find her a new home. CHULA's issue is that she keeps peeing and pooping in the house, even after she has been outside for a good time, she will come in and do her business anywhere she ... (Read More)wants to and infront of her family. We have explained that there is a reason for why she is doing this, but she needs to be crated and trained and guided until she learns that this is not acceptable. CHULA did NOT do this at the rescue, she used the dog door as do all the dogs to go outside. CHULA needs a family that is ready to take on the possibility that she will do that with them and if she does then she MUST be crated whilst in the house until she learns. Letting her out of the crate for any period not under complete supervision will NOT work. CHULA is GREAT with other dogs, she is loving affectionate, but apparently has a stubborn streak in her. CHULA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. Please go to our website and complete the adoption application f you are interested in adopting this beautiful, stunning girl. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

PLEASE read COMPLETE BIO. CHIP is a beautiful small bi-coloured German Shepherd Dog that we saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 6th April 2015. She has a slight blue colouring to her left eye which makes her more unique. When I first brought CHIP back to the rescue she was really scared, it appeared she had not been around other dogs before. However, within a few hours of getting to know them and realizing that this is a safe place and the dogs all loving and friendly she was running around, playing and very happy. CHIP now settled has let her personality shine through, she is very loving and affectionate, she is playful, she ... (Read More)is responsive and she is well mannered. She does jump up every now and again, but I find that almost all the dogs do that here at the rescue as they are competing for attention and affection with all the other dogs. CHIP has a high energy level and she loves to run, chasing and playing with the other dogs, but she does know when to chill out and hang out near where I am. She gets on great with all the dogs of all sizes and we have small wire-haired terriers that she plays with too. CHIP will benefit from a family that is active that can give her ways to release her energy but to also engage her brain. She needs both mental and physical exercise and needs to be challenged on both. CHIP as mentioned is very responsive and will benefit from basic and advanced obedience with her family. This not only helps to strengthen bonds, but also allows both human and dog to learn each others body language and personalities. CHIP is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 1 April 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed around 49 pounds. CHIP is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $200 If you are interested in giving this beautiful girl her perfect forever home, our application process and form can be found on the website under the APPLICATION tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-04-00157MILLIE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

MILLIE - Germanic for Strength and Determination MILLIE was saved from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 28 January 2014. It was clear she had been abused as she was very submissive and would stand facing the wall if she thought she was in trouble. Over the months her confidence built and she settled in with the other rescue dogs and her personality shined. MILLIE does have separation anxiety and although not destructive she will bark or whine to get attention. MILLIE also chooses one human and gets into a protective mode and doesn't want anyone else coming in. She will bark and if allowed to escalate she will growl. This behaviour needs ... (Read More)to be stopped and she needs to know that it is not acceptable and she has to learn to share. This was discovered when MILLIE went to stay with a friend for a few weeks. They was working with her and she had showed signs of improvement, but her stay there ended before more would could be done. MILLIE loves being with her human, be it on walks, runs or just for rides in the car. She loves her toys and has great toy drive and she is happy to play with her toys, or whilst she was here at the rescue she would enjoy playing with the other dogs also. MILLIE was adopted to a family that said they had plenty of GSD experience i January 2015, they knew that MILLIE had her issues. A month later we had a message saying that she could no longer stay with them as her behaviour has escalated. From what we have learned, there was no kind of training or reinforcement done when MILLIE showed this behaviour, so she didn't learn that what she was doing was wrong. MILLIE is currently with a foster lady living in BROOKLYN, NY. MILLIE has been doing great and her foster mum is working on her separation anxiety in many productive and successful ways. Not letting MILLIE follow her everyone and she is being reprimanded when she does wrong. She is learning the command quiet - as MILLIE can be very vocal. MILLIE needs a family that has the time and COMMITMENT to give to her. They need to understand the GSD mind and how they are naturally protective, and understand that MILLIE 'claims' one person, and so the natural thing to do would be for the person she has claimed to step back and other family members take the lead with her. MILLIE needs to be able to feel secure, and be taught that even if she can't see you that she is safe. She needs an active family that will take her places and let her brain be challenged so that she will have less time and energy to stress over the things that are causing her upset. MILLIE as mentioned LOVES toys, she would have made an excellent working dog, if she had not have these other issues. MILLIE is good with other dogs ,and whilst at the rescue lived amongst 50 dogs of all ages and sizes and was no problem. MILLIE will play with other dogs, but she is more interested in her toys and her human. We are really hoping that someone out along the east coast has the heart, experience and commitment to give this beauty a chance. She is stunning, fun, affectionate, loving and very happy. She is the dog that will hear your car from up the street and wait to pounce on you and shower you with kisses as you come through the door, she has so much love to give, she needs a family that give her what she needs and that really is just GSD or working breed experience, lots of ideas to give her lots of mental stimulation , an active life to give her the physical exercise and a strong alpha personality that she can respect, admire and be confident enough to trust. We know that there are lots of people out there who fit this profile, we just need to find them. MILLE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm negative and micro-chipped. MILLIE has a date of birth of 22 January 2013 and weighs around 65 pounds. She is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue. If you would are in or around the Brooklyn area and want to meet MILLIE we require our adoption application to be submitted and then we will put you in contact with her foster mum so you can discuss and arrange a time to meet her. Our application can be found and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org Please help us find MILLIES perfect forever family 0 who knows what she went through as a puppy to make her be the way she is - but it just takes the right family to make her see things in a better way. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00349JENNY (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

JENNY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 20 April 2015. I was advised to keep a close eye on her as when she had come round from her spay surgery the day before she had a very high pulse and was in shock. They had her on iv fluids throughout the night and she was much better the next day. At the rescue I put her in a crate in the bathroom where it is quieter and she could rest, but I could also keep an eye on her. She showed no signs of distress and was eating and drinking and so after a few days, I let her with the rest of the pack and she has been doing great. JENNY isn't a dog has that crazy energy and is always running ... (Read More)around and wrestling, she is very laid back and is happy to lie on the doggy-deck and watch the world go by. She has a very calm demeanor. She doesn't jump up, she doesn't beg, she is just a very pleasant and enjoyable girl to have here at the rescue. JENNY will benefit from a family that has got time to spend with her and give her the love that she has clearly not experienced in her life. She will be happy to go where you go, be it for long walks, car rides or just sitting around relaxing with her own forever family. JENNY is however, still young at 3 years old and will still need daily exercise and activity. We do not have cats in the rescue so I cannot comment on how she is around cats, however, I am sure with the correct guidance and training and letting her satisfy her curiosity she will be fine. She has not shown any kind of prey drive since she has been here. JENNY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. JENNY has an estimated date of birth of 14 April 2012 and at the time of rescue she weighed 60.20 pounds. JENNY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 If you are interested in giving this gorgeous girl the home that she deserves, please complete and submit out application which can be found under the APPLICATION tab on our website to get the adoption process started. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00195KRISTOFF (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

If out of state a $50 health certificate fee is also required. KRISTOF was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 20th April 2015, being over-looked as he doesn't have the standard GSD Erect ears, he has what is known as 'soft-ears' KRISTOFF was excited when he saw the other dogs in the rescue and couldn't wait to get amongst them. KRISTOFF has one of those larger than life personalities, he is a happy dog and just loves running, playing and chasing the other dogs. He doesn't pay much attention to the smaller dogs, but when he does he is gentle with them, but much prefers to roll around and wrestle with the bigger dogs. KRISTOFF ... (Read More)is very affectionate and likes to keep me in site and will stay close by just watching the world go by, if he isn't playing. He is a pleasure to be around and is just always happy. We do not have cats in the rescue so I cannot say how he would be with them. Although I have not seen him with children, I have no doubt that as long as the children respect him, not treat him like a toy and give him his space when he wants it, he would be their best friend. As with all German Shepherd Dogs, they need to have their mind and body exercised and challenged. Mental and physical exercise, both equally important are an integral part of having a happy, healthy GSD. So, KRISTOFF will be needing an active family who can take him on adventures and let him take in the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. A family that will take him and try out sports, go on hikes, trips to the lake and of course road trips. KRISTOFF walks good on a leash, and is responsive. I believe he would be very easy to train. He would absolutely benefit from basic and advanced training with his new family. This will enable a stronger bond and allows both family and KRISTOFF to learn more of each others personalities and body language. KRISTOFF is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. RICKY has an estimated date of birth of 17 October 2013 and at the time of rescue he weighed 62.70 pounds. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-03-00168SHANIA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SHANIA was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 20th April 2015. SHANIA when I first brought her back to the rescue was a little nervous at seeing all the dogs, but when she was in the treatment area, with just a few of them and the others on the other side of the fence, her curiosity soon got the better of her and she confidently went up to the fence to meet the other dogs. After a week, I let SHANIA go with the other dogs and she has been so happy. She loves to run and play, she will playfully chase the smaller terrier dogs and happily wrestle with the larger dogs. SHANIA is very affectionate, as soon as she came in the house ... (Read More)she jumped up on the bed, made herself comfortable and settled down for a quiet nap. She is responsive and has learned that the bed is not her bed and she has to wait to be invited up. SHANIA does jump up when she gets excitement but this can be easily corrected with consistent training and guidance. We do not have cats in the rescue so I cannot comment on how she is around cats. I do believe once her jumping up has been sorted, she would be fantastic around small children. SHANIA will benefit from an active family who can take her on adventures and let her take in the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. She walks ok on a leash, and is responsive. I believe she would be very easy to train. She would absolutely benefit from basic and advanced training with her new family. This will enable a stronger bond and allows both family and SHANIA to learn more of each others personalities and body language. SHANIA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. Rescue Me ID: 15-05-02-00148BERKLEY (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BERKLEY was a stray found in Houston by another rescue group that couldn't keep him, they had asked if they caught him, could I take him into rescue and I did. On 7th April BERKLEY became a GaDaH Pack Member. He does have patches of hair loss which is caused by demodex mange and is being treated and he is doing great, its just really a matter of time to let his hair grow back. This is NON-CONTAGIOUS and extremely common in strays and neglected abused dogs. The mites are basically in every dog but when the immune system is compromised that is when they become a problem. So, whilst here at the rescue he is on Ivermectin (a liquid medication) ... (Read More)which kills the mites and I always give lots of immune support, which of course is helping his body get back on track and then it can do what it is meant to do. As for her personality - he is adorable - he can be a little wary of people initially and can shy away, but that is no doubt due to whatever this poor boy has been put through, he isn't bad with it and with love, affection and that perfect family environment he will soon get over it - he has improved a lot since he has been here so I have no worries about him there. With other dogs he is so happy, he is confident, playful - he plays with the smaller pups and also the big dogs. He of course loves having his ears scratched and belly rubbed. He is VERY attentive and I would imagine he will be extremely responsive to training. He was neuterd on Monday28th April 2015 and has done fine, with no problems with or after surgery. He is micro-chipped, rabies, current on his shots, the other rescue groups vets did do a heart-worm test on him which was negative and he has been on prevention since he has been here and I do not expect him to have any problems on that side of things either. He has an estimated date of birth of 22 September 2014 - and at the time of his neuter surgery he weighed 19.20 pounds. BERKLEY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. Our application can be found under the APPLICATION tab. More photo's of BERKLEY can be found by clicking on his picture under the GSD/Terrier tab The rescue and BERKLEY is located in TEXAS, we post in out of state sites in hopes to find our precious saved souls a wonderful forever home, which would then enable us to save another dog from the KILL shelters here in Texas.     Rusty is a handsome Retriever/Hound mix. He and his sister Sara were adopted out in the summer of 2009 as puppies. They were recently returned through no fault of their own. Sara and Rusty are very bonded to one another as they are litter mates and have been together their whole lives. However, they are doing well being separated at the shelter. While we would love to find them a home together, they would be fine going to separate homes as well.
