Very loving and friendly. Submissive to owner, unfortunately she has become aggressive towards our other female dog and we can no longer keep her. She needs a lot of attention so we prefer that she goes to a home where she is the only pet but she does get along with other male dogs.

Hey there, the name is Gibbs. I'm a two year old German Shepherd/ Chow mix. Well, something like that, anyway. I'm not really sure what kind of dog I am, but one thing is for sure... I'm one handsome pooch! There's plenty of good dogs out there, but you'd be hard pressed to find one as soulful as me. My eyes are so expressive and full of life that you can't help but talking to me like I'm a person, and half expecting me to answer you back. I am a medium energy dog, and am very playful. I walk like a gentleman on a leash, and have great manners. I am housetrained, and have lived inside for most of my life. I already know all there is to know ... (Read More)about being a housepet, and am pretty good at it, if I don't say so myself. Now all I need is a house to live in and my very own person. Wanna give it a try? How about it? (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Hello, I have a German Shepherd that is in desperate need of a home. He was abandoned and left for several days with no food and water before I was called. A little background info: My ex got Max about a year ago when he was about a year old (he is now 2). My ex and I have been broken up for quite some time and Max has continued to live with him. I have recently discovered that my ex has completely abandoned Max with no food and water for several days and does not plan on coming back for Max after I was contacted by several of my ex's family and friends. Although it breaks my heart, I cannot keep Max where I live. I refuse to take him to ... (Read More)an animal shelter because I feel sure that he will be euthanized due to that fact that under certain circumstances he can become aggressive. He has never once been aggressive towards me but he does bark and growl at strangers. He has a TON of energy and he is super smart. I think with some work he would be an excellent dog for someone. Please help. (Less)

Hello! My name is Chewbacca and I am a 5 year old German Shepard mix male. I was placed into a foster home because my mom moved in with someone who was allergic to dogs. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

My Story 12.5 year old Max is a total family guy. He is a tan Lab/Shepherd mix, approximately 65 lbs, who loves people of all ages. He is currently being fostered in a home with a cat and another dog. Max is curious about the cat, but never bothers it. He gets along great with the other dog. Max lived 12 years of his life as an inside dog until his owners gave him to their son, who kept Max tied up outside for about a year. Max's foster keeps him inside where he belongs. He is crated when they are not home and does great! Max is also house trained. Max doesn't hear well, so his foster uses hand signals and bribes him with ... (Read More)treats. Max is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Max is heartworm positive but his fosters have started him on a slow kill treatment. Max loves to lay around and be petted. He also enjoys short strolls on a leash. He would love a low energy home of his own to live out the rest of his life. Can you open your heart and home to this senior guy? He will show his appreciation for the rest of his life. He is sure to bond completely and deeply with his caretakers, who will be his heroes. Max will surely be an affectionate and loyal companion. Max and his fosters are praying they can find him a great loving home. For more information, please contact Victoria at (919) 710-2738. ##170254## (Less)

MEET JOSIE!! This gorgeous 2 year old black and tan German Shepherd female came to us from the Moreno Valley shelter in CA. Once again we will never understand why people don't look for their dogs, especially when they are as awesome as this girl. She passed her shelter temp tests with flying colors. Josie is an active and happy girl. She has a petite frame and is considered on the smaller side for a GSD. She is playful and sweet, loves ear rubs and human attention. Josie was very well behaved at the vet during her exam and even was a good girl during her bath. This little stunner likes to run, play with her Jolly ball and play fetch ... German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Stella, I am believed to be between 2 and 3 years old. I am completely vetted, up to date on my vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, on heartworm, flea, and intestinal worm preventatives. I am a very sweet girl, I know my basic obedience, am house trained, crate trained, and I love to go for rides in the car. I do fantastic out in public, going everywhere with my human. I am the epitome of a velcro dog. I have started on my basic obedience training and am brushing up on some of my skills. Although I am great with most other dogs I may bark or give chase to very small dogs. I would probably be best suited for a family or ... (Read More)individual with other dogs or an experienced German Shepherd person. I am a big couch potato, Its great when I am inside just sitting on my foster mom's lap, giving kisses or chilling on the couch with permission of course. I am obedient and very loyal. I do seem to have a preference of women - as long as I get petted, loved, toys to play with, belly rubs, and maybe even able to share your bed... I will be incredibly loyal, loving, and hopefully with my forever family. Do you have space in your heart and your home for a sweet girl like myself? There is an adoption process. 1. You request an adoption application (email FTLODNC@gmail.com to request an application). 2. Your references and Vet reference will be checked, (your answers will be matched up with the particular dog - and others that are available). 3. IF all is well, a Home Visit will be scheduled. Sometimes a video or photos will be allowed. any issues will be identified and addressed. 4. IF all that has been done and it's all good then a Meet and Greet would be scheduled, IF that goes well then... You would be able to sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee (or make prior arrangements) and take me to my new forever home. It sounds like a lot - and maybe it is... but the Rescue only has my best interest at heart and they want to ensure that the family that takes me home is a good fit for my personality, temperament and that I have the best possible chances for a successful forever placement. So please don't be hesitant to put a little effort into bringing me, or one of my other rescue pals into your home. Thank You for considering Rescue over breeders. There is a $10 application fee - it does help keep the rescue efforts going. the application fee can be paid via our paypal link. www.PayPal.Me/FTLOD or a check can be made out and mailed to For the Love of Dogs Rescue, 315 Gray Street, Statesville, NC 28677. Please keep in mind that this rescue is ran of a Foster Home model, there is no facility. All of the dogs are kept in Foster Homes. That is one reason the application process is in the order that it is. We wish for you and your loved ones health, happiness, and prosperity. IF I am not the right dog for your family, you can be put on the waiting list - typically the rescue can find the right dog for each home's specific needs within 6 months. Sometimes much shorter and sometimes a little longer. It really depends on How LONG and Specific your 'Must Have' list is and how that matches up with the dogs that the rescue takes in. Most families do not mind waiting a little while for the RIGHT Dog for Their Home. We want to make sure that it's the right fit all the way around. We want this to be for the rest of the dog's life. Please be very specific about your home, activities, and must have and would like to have descriptions on the application. It will only help us to match you and the right dog for your family and lifestyle. Together We Can Make A Difference ! (Less)

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs. Goldie's Story... Hi! I am Goldie. I am a 5yo German Shepherd mix. I was found in an abandoned house with several friends just before it was torn down. I arrived at the shelter almost starved to death weighing just 45lbs. The nice folks with Paws for Life rescued me from the noise and smells of the shelter and gave me a nice home to live in. I have since learned to live in a house with people, I learned to potty only outside, I am crate trained and like to relax in there while my people sleep, or are away at work. I get along great with most dogs, ... (Read More)I don't like the pushy puppies who jump on me. I walk well on a leash using a easy walk harness, I like rides in the car as well. I needed a lot of help to get better after I was found. I have been given all of my shots including a leptospirosis vaccine. I have been microchipped to help me find my way home if I am lost. I have been spayed, had a hernia repair, and several teeth extracted, and given medicine to fix my itchy skin and ear infection. While I was living on my own I chewed on anything I could find which broke and wore down my front teeth, so they had to be removed. I can still eat dry kibble just fine without them. I have gained weight up to 62lbs now, when I finally get up to a good weight I should weigh around 70lbs. I need a home without cats, I will chase and harm them or other small animals that look like food to me. Please come see me at an adoption event, I hope to find my forever home soon! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello my name is Livvy!!! I was pulled from RCAS back in the summer of 2015 and I am still looking for my forever home. I have been fully vetted including spay, micro chip, vaccinations, wormed, HW tested etc. I came back heart worm positive but I finished my treatments and resting period and happy to say I am HW NEGATIVE NOW and a healthy girl. I have been through so much and ended up in a kill shelter in MD from my last adopter but my rescue worked very hard to get me back ...to NC where I have been with my wonderful foster mom Lori who I love and trust very much. Since I've been through so much, it takes me a little bit to trust you but ... (Read More)once I know you want to love me and not hurt me, I really open up and shine like a superstar. I get along with my other doggy brothers and sisters and need a home where I have plenty of room to run and play. I love my people friends also and want nothing more than attention and love. I want to be your best girl and be given a chance to know what a real home feels like. I am 3-4 yr old now and a hound mix. I think I'm a pretty special girl since I was rescued from not being killed and then vetted where I am not sick and then saved again and brought back home. My rescue and foster mom really loves me and they have done so much for me. I know you will love me too if you just give me a chance. All that is missing now is my forever home. Can you help me find my family? Love, Livvy (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-28-00042Ruby (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ruby is a 3 year old female German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix that found herself dumped by her family at the local shelter at 3 years old. The change from living with her family to going to the shelter and then to foster care shook her up pretty badly and for the first few weeks she was fairly unhappy. Ruby had a hard time settling in and getting used to a whole new life and figuring out how she fit in with her new environment. Because of this, Ruby needs a home that will give her the time and effort to help her settle in and become a part of the family, knowing that at first she will be stressed from yet another change. Ruby really ... (Read More)needs a home where she can be an only dog. She has moments where she is great with a very submissive male who is smaller than her but it is not only consistent. Her foster's best guess is that she was not properly socialized while she was a puppy and now she is not entirely sure how to play with other dogs so when it gets too energetic for her she shuts down and gets defensive. Ruby is also in a foster home with cats and is very cat curious. She will follow them around but backs away when they give her the sign that they have had enough. However, it doesn't mean that she won't begin to follow them around 5 minutes later though. Ruby is house and crate trained. She does need to be crated when her foster leaves the house, otherwise she gets very stressed and will paw at the door non stop. She does not like to be alone, and will also repeat the behavior if left outside in the yard alone. Ruby really just wants to be with her people. She is able to walk on a leash but would not make the best running partner since new sounds tend to spook her and land her right between her foster mom's feet. Ruby would love a quiet household that will commit to helping her gain her confidence back after being so taken aback by being abandoned and will require a 6ft privacy fenced yard for her safety and to give her a place to work out some of her excess energy. Her adoption fee is $225 Applications can be filled out at http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/dog-adoptions/ Questions can be emailed to jessica@pawsforlifenc.org (Less)

Today 9/1/17, after months of Heart Guard treatment, Norton has tested negative for Heartworm! This handsome boy is Norton, and all he wants is his fur-ever home! He was found locally as a stray and taken in by a local businesswoman who brought him to us. He was very malnutritioned but still very healthy. Unfortunately, he did test positive for heart worm, so he will need to continue on Heart Guard while being monitored and retested every 6-12 months to monitor his progress. We believe him to be a German Shepherd or Boxer mix. He's approx. 2 years old, weighs approx. 50 pounds, is up to date on all vaccinations, de-wormed, and neutered. He's ...
