Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs Vaccinations

Stella was rescued a little less than a year ago. She was heartworm positive and 40lbs underweight. She had been tied to a tree her entire life. I was told she was ok with cats and she's not. She has a very high prey drive. She's been treated for heartworm and is now back up to weight and healthy. She's incredibly loving but needs a home where she's the only animal. She needs someone who can work with her on a daily basis. She's Shutzhund trained and does not know most English commands. You driven not food. Adopter needs to have a fenced in backyard and be patient. She does not know inside manners yet and is not fully house broken.

Hello. I have 2 German Shepherds. My female is only 2, now has very bad hip dysplasia. Prior to realization of her hips. I wanted her to have a buddy so 9 months ago I bought a male shepherd. He is a very sweet, loving member of my family. He appears to have very sound hips. He doesn't have papers but is a full German Shepherd. He is neutered. I have come to realize that she can't physically handle rough play with such a large dog. Also with the sudden onset and severity of her hips I will need to give her all of my attention now.     MEET SADIE!!! Sadie is a stunning 1 year old white, female German Shepherd that has not had the best time of it. Surrendered by her family to a local shelter, then adopted a few days later. Her 'new family' decided they could not keep her just 4 days later and surrendered her to the rescue. Sadie is dealing with a little bit of separation anxiety and who can blame her after losing not 1 but 2 families in the span of a week. This gorgeous girl is super sweet and loving. She likes to play and run in the yard but likes loving on or being next to her humans even more. Sadie is dealing with some separation anxiety and usually takes it out on ... (Read More)her food or water bowl. She does get upset when left alone and can get destructive. She would do well with a family that does not have to.leave her alone much until she can learn to trust that she won't be abandoned again. Unfortunately, Sadie does not seem to have been socialised appropriately as a puppy and is fearful of other dogs. With slow and proper introduction she does get better. It will take some time, patience and consistency to build her confidence and get her to trust other dogs. Sadie is UTD, spayed, microchipped, HW- and on flea/tick/HW preventatives. Adoption fee $400 If you are interested in Sadie or any of the other JLGSR dogs, please take a minute to fill out our online adoption application at www.jettslegacy.com/adoption-application.html.     Hi new friends! So glad you stopped to look at an older distinguished gentleman like me! For 12 years I had an amazing family who loved me very much. But my dad got sick and had to live in a special home and my mom could not keep our home without my dad. The Halfway House ladies came to get me and promised my mom they would find the perfect new home for me. I am UTD on shots, heartworm negative (on prevention) and neutered. Being an older guy, I really love snuggling and a soft bed. But I still have lots of fun energy and love going on walks. Maybe you could meet me and see if I could fit in your family!

Hi, I'm Ruby. I am a 1 year old GSD mix. My mom was a GSD but we are unsure who or what my daddy is. I am a super sweet girl who has a lot of love to give. I am somewhat timid right now because of my rough life before the rescue saved me. I am coming out of my shell more and more everyday. I am a petite girl, smaller stature. I have the overall body of a GSD but in a smaller package. Its hard to say how much more I will grow, but its not uncommon for German Shepherds to continue to grow up to 2 1/2 years old. I am extremely intelligent and have a great temperament. I like to play and get lots of love and cuddles. I am UTD on my all my ... (Read More)vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, deormed, microchipped and on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. I am in training for the working dog program (meaning that I am being trained to be a Service Dog or Therapy Dog). I have an amazing personality, temperament, and really wonderful disposition. These are things that cannot be purchased or trained, it just comes natural. The rescue will be working on my training and it will continue when I am placed with my new family. (I will have a minimum of 120 hours of training to be considered a working dog) and my specialized training will be completed with For the Love of Dogs Rescue mentoring and training with my new family and handler. Do you have room in your heart and home for a sweetie like me? If you are interested in adopting me please request an adoption application from FTLOD rescue by email at ftlod@roadrunner.com or phone at 704-464-9999. Together we can make a difference! There is an adoption process. 1. You request an adoption application (email FTLOD@RoadRunner.com to request an application). 2. Your references and Vet reference will be checked, (your answers will be matched up with the particular dog - and others that are available). 3. IF all is well, a Home Visit will be scheduled. Sometimes a video or photos will be allowed. any issues will be identified and addressed. 4. IF all that has been done and it's all good then a Meet and Greet would be scheduled, IF that goes well then... You would be able to sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee (or make prior arrangements) and take me to my new forever home. It sounds like a lot - and maybe it is... but the Rescue only has my best interest at heart and they want to ensure that the family that takes me home is a good fit for my personality, temperament and that I have the best possible chances for a successful forever placement. So please don't be hesitant to put a little effort into bringing me, or one of my other rescue pals into your home. Thank You for considering Rescue over breeders. There is a $10 application fee - it does help keep the rescue efforts going. the application fee can be paid via our paypal link. www.PayPal.Me/FTLOD or a check can be made out and mailed to For the Love of Dogs Rescue, 315 Gray Street, Statesville, NC 28677. Please keep in mind that this rescue is ran of a Foster Home model, there is no facility. All of the dogs are kept in Foster Homes. That is one reason the application process is in the order that it is. We wish for you and your loved ones health, happiness, and prosperity. Once I am placed with my new handler, the rescue will work with and mentor the new handler to complete my task specific training helpful for my new handler's needs. together we will log up to 120 hours of training to consider me a working dog. IF I am not the right dog for your family, you can be put on the waiting list - typically the rescue can find the right dog for each home's specific needs within 6 months. It is NOT a First Come First Served type of list, Placements are made on the Best Fit for the dog and the family. Sometimes much shorter and sometimes a little longer. It really depends on How LONG and Specific your 'Must Have' list is and how that matches up with the dogs that the rescue takes in. Most families do not mind waiting a little while for the RIGHT Dog for Their Home. We want to make sure that it's the right fit all the way around. We want this to be for the rest of the dog's life. Please be very specific about your home, activities, and must have and would like to have descriptions on the application. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

My name is Kane. I am a very sweet boy. I have been completely vetted. I am neutered, up to date on all my vaccinations, microchipped, on heartworm, intestinal worm, flea, and tick preventatives. I am house trained, crate trained, very good on riding in the car, and have my basic obedience training. I don't mind loud or unexpected noises, I don't even mind fireworks but a Siren can make me howl or whine, and maybe even bark once or twice. I am GREAT with MOST dogs. If another dog is extremely hyper, comes running up on me or tries to mount me I will bark at him and maybe even growl or definitely let him know that I don't like that. For ... (Read More)the most part, after we both get our sniff on, I just go on about whatever I was doing and pay them no mind. Although I am great with other dogs and great with people, I can be a little possessive of my human if another dog tries to get more attention than me. I would probably be best suited for a family or individual without other dogs or an experienced German Shepherd person. I am a big couch potato, Its great when I am inside just sitting on my foster mom's lap, giving kisses or chilling on the couch with permission of course. I am obedient and very loyal. I am in the working dog program and have been training for service dog work. My assessments continue to go well, so far so good. I do not have a preference of men or women - as long as I get petted, loved, toys to play with, belly rubs, and maybe even able to share your bed... I will be incredibly loyal, loving, and hopefully with my forever family. I can be a little possessive over my human if there are other dogs in the family. I just want the attention. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ruby is a 3 year old female German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix that found herself dumped by her family at the local shelter at 3 years old. The change from living with her family to going to the shelter and then to foster care shook her up pretty badly and for the first few weeks she was fairly unhappy. Ruby had a hard time settling in and getting used to a whole new life and figuring out how she fit in with her new environment. Because of this, Ruby needs a home that will give her the time and effort to help her settle in and become a part of the family, knowing that at first she will be stressed from yet another change. Ruby really ... (Read More)needs a home where she can be an only dog. She has moments where she is great with a very submissive male who is smaller than her but it is not only consistent. Her foster's best guess is that she was not properly socialized while she was a puppy and now she is not entirely sure how to play with other dogs so when it gets too energetic for her she shuts down and gets defensive. Ruby is also in a foster home with cats and is very cat curious. She will follow them around but backs away when they give her the sign that they have had enough. However, it doesn't mean that she won't begin to follow them around 5 minutes later though. Ruby is house and crate trained. She does need to be crated when her foster leaves the house, otherwise she gets very stressed and will paw at the door non stop. She does not like to be alone, and will also repeat the behavior if left outside in the yard alone. Ruby really just wants to be with her people. She is able to walk on a leash but would not make the best running partner since new sounds tend to spook her and land her right between her foster mom's feet. Ruby would love a quiet household that will commit to helping her gain her confidence back after being so taken aback by being abandoned and will require a 6ft privacy fenced yard for her safety and to give her a place to work out some of her excess energy. Her adoption fee is $225 Applications can be filled out at http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/dog-adoptions/ Questions can be emailed to jessica@pawsforlifenc.org (Less)

Sasha is in need of a home without other animals or small kids and a patient owner. She has currently gotten more aggressive with the other dogs in our home and in the last few days with myself and my husband. With small children in the home, we do not want to risk the kids or other dogs being injured. She has been a great addition to our pack for the last 10 years but with her getting older and more grouchy we must find her a new home.

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Harley. I am a happy girl who loves to play. I am up to date on my vaccinations, microchipped, on monthly flea, tick and heartworm prevention. I am a very clever girl. I have a good sweet disposition. I have a natural aptitude with my nose and I am very loving and affectionate. I am in training for the working dog program (meaning that I am being trained to be a Service Dog or Therapy Dog). I have an amazing personality, temperament, and really wonderful disposition. These are things that cannot be purchased or trained, it just comes natural. The rescue will be working on my training and it will continue when I am placed ... (Read More)with my new family. (I will have a minimum of 120 hours of training to be considered a working dog) and my specialized training will be completed with For the Love of Dogs Rescue mentoring and training with my new family and handler. Do you have room in your heart and home for a beautiful girl like myself? Do you have a little patience to see me reach my full potential? I am very young and still very much puppy. I will play and keep you company all day long and be perfectly happy to keep your spot in the bed warm should you allow me to share the bed with you. If you are interested in adoption, please contact Charlene by email with For the Love of Dogs Rescue and ask for an Adoption Application. My Past ... I was kept outside on a 2ft chain from 6 weeks old to 7 months old. I am only 10 months old now. Animal control responded to a call for my neighbors house and happened to see me. They came over and spoke to my then owners.. they gave them two weeks to make changes and give me a decent shelter, proper food and water etc. In two weeks when they came back the changes were not made satisfactorily so they were fined and given one more week to fix things. when they came back nothing had changed so they confiscated me. I was then taken by the rescue and my life has been GREAT since then. I have been house trained, crate trained, learned my basic obedience and working on my advanced skills as well as refining my basic skills. I am still very much a puppy with lots of energy and lots of love to give. I know my forever people are out there and that I can be a special benefit for the right person. Are you that person? Once I am placed with my new handler, the rescue will work with and mentor the new handler to complete my task specific training wanted for my new handler's needs. together we will log up to 120 hours of training to consider me a working dog. The rescue would schedule with you regular training sessions (either in person or via skype) to keep my training ongoing to help increase my skill sets and refine my tasks. Once placement is made then we can work on the task specific skills wanted for your particular needs. I am officially a Service Dog In Training right now. IF I am not the right dog for your family, you can be put on the waiting list - typically the rescue can find the right dog for each home's specific needs within 6 months. Sometimes much shorter and sometimes a little longer. It really depends on How LONG and Specific your 'Must Have' list is and how that matches up with the dogs that the rescue takes in. Most families do not mind waiting a little while for the RIGHT Dog for Their Home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-10-00106Daisy (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

We adopted this German shepherd mix from the Wake County Animal Shelter in December 2011 when she was around 3 years old. Between work and our daughter's extracurricular activities we have found that we don't have the time to give her the attention she needs in terms of training, exercise and caring in general. Daisy is a sweet-tempered and smart dog with special needs so we are looking for someone who can be at home more often than us and has the time to work more closely with her. We would love to find her a home where she has room to run around outside but she is a climber so would need to be supervised outside or have something like a ... (Read More)vinyl fence that she could not climb. We are especially concerned about how she will react when our older dog passes as having another dog for company has a calming effect on her and we don't intend to get another dog. This is another reason why we are hoping to find someone who either can be at home more often or at least has another dog to keep her company. While she can be shy; she is generally good with other animals. More important things to know about Daisy: She has issues with separation anxiety and can be nervous around new adults, but once she gets used to people she loves to be close to them and loves to be petted. She loves other dogs and has never shown aggression towards dogs or children. She is currently taking Prozac for the anxiety which helps immensely and we have found that, even though it is not covered under insurance, the generic is pretty inexpensive. She is house-trained but occasionally has accidents if she gets stressed out or doesn't get to walk long enough. She is very particular about where she uses the bathroom outside and can take a while to find just the right spot. She has also been destructive from time to time when left home alone. She is current on all her shots, weighs about 70 lbs. and has a tracking chip. (Less)

Animal ID: 0047Roqui (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

MEET ROQUI This beyond adorable boy is a 1 year old black and tan German Shepherd mix that came to us from the Downey Shelter in CA. This guy is tall, lanky and lean and a ton of fun. Those ears give Roqui quite the unique look and we think it is adorable. Roqui gets along well with other dogs and just loves to play. We believe he would do well going to Doggy Day Care or a dog park because he hangs out with anywhere from 3-5 other dogs here at the rescue. He would do better with dogs that are closer to his size than with smaller dogs because as a young boy, his play style is rough and tumble. This youngster loves toys and bones but ... (Read More)doesn't like to share his bone. He will run, chase, wrestle and play tug with others. When he stands still for a minute, Roqui likes ear rubs and attention from his humans. Roqui would do well with a family that is active and looking for a companion who likes to hike, run and play. Roqui needs some work on his manners as he does jump up and is a bit mouthy, sometimes wanting to play by holding your hand in his mouth,n nothing a stable environment, time, attention and the proper training won't fix. We are working on manners to help him become the wonderful pup we know is there. Because of his lack of manners, young age and size, we would recommend a family with older children. A family that adopts him will be required to attend training classes for both his and their benefit. Roqui is UTD, microchipped, HW-, on flea/tick/HW preventative and neutered. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Deuce. I am a 4 year old male GSD looking for my forever home. I am a very handsome boy. I am up to date on my vaccinations, i have been deworrmed, microchipped, neutered and on monthly preventatives. I am a very sweet boy who loves to play, run and be close to my person. I'm great with other dogs, adults and children. I have recently been separated from my brother (we were together since birth). The rescue thinks that i have a great temperament, an eagerness to please, I am a quick learner and very smart which is why they have put me in their Working Dog program. I have been in training and doing great - I would make a fantastic ... (Read More)Service Dog, Therapy Dog or Emotional Support Dog. I am very affectionate and loving. I wore down my front teeth a bit because I used to carry around a brick for a toy (it was all I had to play with as a young boy). I can eat just fine and my teeth have been examined by the vet. Its not a big problem but I may drop a few treats if I don't get them far enough back into my mouth. Never fear, I have learned to adapt LOL. I am a good boy with so much to offer my future forever family, do you think you can find a place in your heart and home for me? I am in the working dog program which means that I have been house, crate, leash walking, muzzle and basic obedience trained. I have been doing GREAT in public and love going out on excursions.     Volunteer update 11/20: Baxter has been at the shelter since 11/3. That's a long time for a dog to stay at the shelter. He needs rescue or adoption NOW! We've had Baxter out of his kennel several times with other dogs. He always behaves nicely around other dogs on leash and no aggression has been noted. When in his kennel he does act out sometimes when other dogs are led past his kennel. You can see from the condition of his ears from fly bites that he has had a very rough life and received little to no care.     Josie and Tiny are sisters and are very sweet with people and very affectionate. They love to play, and they love to cuddle! We've had them ever since they were born and they have never shown signs of aggression until recently. They have been getting into fights with our older female dog we have. It has gotten to the point where we have to keep them separated or else they will fight. Josie and Tiny are wonderful with people, kids, and male dogs. They would be perfect for a one dog household, if it was just them, or possibly with another male dog. They can be adopted separately however they are very close and it would be ideal if they could ... (Read More)go to a new home together. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, My name is Siri. I am about 2 years old. I am a very, very sweet girl. I am up to date on my vaccinations, I have been spayed, dewormed and microchipped. I am heart worm negative an i am on monthly heart worm, flea, tick, and intestinal worm preventatives. I am very loving and really enjoy attention. I love to play and be with my humans all the time. I have been through a lot in the last eight months and really just need a stable and predictable routine and environment. I do love all people, young and old alike. While I do get along with other dogs, especially medium to large sized dogs I much prefer human company. I really ... (Read More)love the water and would gladly take a swim every day if given the chance. I love playing with toys and I still think that I am a lap dog. I will nudge your hand and look up at you with my big eyes as if i were saying something like (I'm so sorry that your arm is broke - I know that's the only reason you are not petting on me) LOL. I enjoy riding in the car and going on outings. I am very clever. I will give anyone a kiss and allow petting, belly rubs, and pretty much anything as long as you are giving me attention. I love playing in the water. I am house trained and I am crate trained but will get very anxious if I am kept in it for too long ( I was kept in a crate for 3 months and kept in boarding for an additional 5 months). Despite this I don't mind a crate but I would really prefer to be with my family. As a previous Service Dog, I have a fantastic personality. I have an amazing personality, temperament, and really wonderful disposition. These are things that cannot be purchased or trained, it just comes natural. I can open most any door unless its deadbolted. Do you have room in your heart and home for a beautiful girl like myself? Do you have a little patience to see me reach my full potential? I am young and still very much puppy mentally. I will play and keep you company all day long and be perfectly happy to keep your spot in the bed warm should you allow me to share the be with you. Placement is NOT first Come, First Served - Its based on the BEST FIT for the family and the dog. It really depends on How LONG and Specific your 'Must Have' list is and how that matches up with the dogs that the rescue takes in. Most families do not mind waiting a little while for the RIGHT Dog for Their Home. We want this to be for the rest of the dog's life. Please be very specific about your home, activities, must have and would like to have descriptions on your application. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Kira is a 3 year old German Shepherd that needs a new home. She is current on all vaccinations and is spayed. She is quite petite at one 55#. The only reason why she needs is a home is due to the inner dog-aggression. She is shy and will take time to get to know you. She is not a lap dog but when she trust you she will come out and want you to love on her. She is crate trained and should be crated when not supervised because true to her GDS nature she is curious and will get into things. She loves to play with other dogs and so she will be a good doggy partner. She does prefer her doggie counterpart to humans as she was not properly ... (Read More)socialized as a puppy. Kira understands pack behavior and therefore I will ask that you either have another dog or be willing to work with her extensively. She is timid around people and new surroundings so a fenced in yard at least 6'' or leashed walks are a must. She is special needs. She requires pancreatic enzyme powder over her food twice a day to keep weight on her. This can be expensive (depending on where you purchase it) but she has to have this. This is a lifelong medical condition that can be easily treated. When loved properly she is a sweet, loyal companion and true to her German Shepherd nature. If you would like to meet her please just let me know! (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Howdy! My name is Hope and I'm a 4 year old 45 pound German Shepherd/Akita mix gal. I was found in an abandoned rental house - very malnourished. But look at me now!! I have the silkiest of coats, my foster mama says I feel like a cozy blanket. I am very smart and respond to direction and listen very well. I have to brag on myself and tell you that I overhear my foster mama telling others that I am the smartest dog she has ever fostered! Slow introduction to other dogs is a must, but once introduced I get along as long as I am supervised. I am a bit alpha so would like to be bff's with a more submissive dog friend. I would prefer to be ... (Read More)the only dog in the house. And I will provide you with so much loyalty and love!! I love to go hiking and rides in the cars! I am what some refer to as a social butterfly, I've never met a stranger. I really enjoy meeting all people and kids and just snuggle into them!! I am a great house dog and pretty much just lay on the floor or dog bed. Yes, I have some pre-mature graying of the muzzle but don't let that fool you! I am a happy youthful 4 year old. I love to fetch balls in the yard, love to chomp up a stuffed toy, and will run and play like a pup in the yard!!! I walk great on a leash if I do say so myself. I am VERY sweet and really enjoy being rubbed on my ears. I also love to be near my people just hanging out and getting rubs. I've been spayed and am up to date with vaccinations. I was slight heartworm positive when coming to UDR however I have just finished my 2nd heartworm injection treatment. I am healthy and happy and expect to live a wonderful normal life. My adoption fee is $150 and I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on my boosters. I'll do best in a home with children over the age of 6 years old - I'm great with older kids but I'm not used to the activity levels of young/small people. If this pet interests you or you have any questions about this dog, please fill out an online application at udranch.com/adoption-application/ and we will be happy to answer any questions and arrange a visit!     He's in need of a good home. We can only keep him tuntol the end of August. He's great outdoors. Listens to commands & doesn't stray. He likes being indoors. He does not like to be kept in a kennel or cage. We raised him as a pup for a year+ but then we unexpectedly had to move & couldn't keep him. We gave him to a 'friend' who lived on a farm. We visited him early on, and he seemed happy, even around other dogs & other animals. He lived there for about 2+ years. A couple of months ago we received a call from a shelter that he had been surrendered. (He has a chip with our contact info.) We've had him ever since. Not sure what he's been ... He occasionally snarls and growls at my 5-yr-old daughter and my 10-yr-old son. He even snapped at my daughter, slightly breaking the skin. My kids are a little fearful of him. Because of this, we can't possibly keep him. We really would like to find him a good home. He'd make a great watch dog & companion.     Hello potential adopters! My name is Sydney, I am a 4-5 year old Yellow Lab/Shepherd mix. I found myself at a high kill shelter with only hours left to live. I wagged my tail so hard at all the adopters going by, and finally... someone picked me! I was so excited! They took me to the vet for a few vaccines, and the vet told them I was heartworm positive. I don't know what that meant, but the family retracted on their offer to adopt me. Did I not wag my tail enough? Was I not pretty enough? I found myself on my way back to the shelter, back on the euthanasia list. I was so sad and confused. A very special technician at the veterinary hospital ... (Read More)decided to try and contact a few rescues before I went back to the shelter, and I got picked! They thought I was beautiful and worthy of saving. I have been so appreciative and excited every since! I am now getting the treatment I deserved for heartworms, and I am spayed, microchipped, and searching for my forever home! My forever family would need to foster me during my treatment, but my rescue will be paying for everything! I have gray on my muzzle from living a hard life, but the vet thinks I am no older than 4-5 years old, and other than the heartworms I am perfectly healthy! Could I be the sweet, laid back girl you've been looking for? I am crate trained, house trained, dog friendly, cat friendly, and people friendly. I love to hang out on the couch and watch movies, and I am good on a leash. Please email my rescue today if you might be interested in making me part of your family forever! (Less)

Andie ~Sponsored~Reduced Fee~'s Story...Andie is a sweet old lady that was pulled from Franklin County Animal Shelter just minutes before being put to sleep. Andie loves her person/people unconditionally and would love to go to a home with a single lady that is looking for a loving companion and a protector. Andie was severely abused and neglected so she needs to go to an understanding and patient home. Before she was rescued she lived outside so she gets overwhelmed easily in busy situations. She loves consistency and a steady routine. Once she sees you as her family she is a great guard dog and will protect you with her life. On the ... (Read More)flipside Sandy loves to cuddle and get loved on as much as possible!!! She can be fearful of men (especially if they have loud voices) and most children are just too active for her to relax around. For this reason she needs to go to a kid-free home. If you are looking for a sweet and protective couch potato this is your girl! Andie is dog and cat friendly and enjoys the company of others furry friends. She would be fine - maybe even prefer - being the only pet because that would mean more attention for her and she lovesssss attention! This girl still has a lot of spunk and lots of love to give! As previously mentioned Sandy would be a great fit for a single woman looking for a loyal companion and protector. She would also do well as a farm dog where she can enjoy a calm environment and hang outside for part of the day and head inside when she is ready to chill on the couch! She loves to chew toys and to cuddle with her person. When she first came to FCHS she didn't know what toys were for... She has come a long way but will always need a special home! Andie was heartworm positive when we rescued her but was able to go on a nice long road trip to Georgia to be treated thanks to a wonderful group who sponsored her! She has overcome various other health issues and we are so happy to be able to report that she now has a clean bill of health! Sandy is spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting sweet Andie please e-mail fchslauraelizabeth@gmail.com or fill out an application at https://fchsnc.formstack.com/forms/dogadoptionform_ Sandy's adoption fee is $150!     Twilight is a wonderful sweet little pup who has come a long way! We know Twilight's mom was German Shepard, but unsure of dad, and although she carries many wonderful German Shepard traits, her size is tiny! Maybe mixed with Shiba Inu?? She was brought to us at 10 weeks old with because some neighborhood boys had been teasing her with food, not getting her vet checked, and hanging her over tree branches by her leash and chocker collar. She was malnourished, starving, full of 3 different parasites, on a parvo quarantine, (she did not catch it yay!)and showed some aggression signs regarding food and children. Now at almost 6 months, she can ... (Read More)eat peacefully and respectfully as long as people or other dogs stay out of her bowl, she eats in kennel it's less stressful, and plays wonderfully with my 5 and 4 year old son and daughter. they had been afraid of her because she would chase and nip at them and now they can pick her up and take her on walks and play fetch without a problem! I worked with a behaviorist to make this all happen, and it worked! She is now getting spayed tomorrow, fully potty trained with limited supervision, off the leash trained and leash friendly as well. She gets along with all other dogs, but not cats as she will chase and bark! she is extremely intelligent and has a heck of a nose on her, typical of German Shepards! She has blossomed and become a really awesome dog! She NEEDS a fenced in back yard or a large piece of land to live on, because she does like to explore. She is a digger and escape artist! She loves the outdoors so somewhere she can go in and out of is ideal! But she will cuddle all night with you in bed! And when I say small, I mean she is barely 25lbs! Help Twilight find her forever loving family, she totally deserves it!!! (Less)

(Read More)there are no small children, as she is so lively. Cheyenne has many cat friends.
