Rescue Me ID: 17-09-22-00072Kase (pron: Case) (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Kase (pronounced Case) is a German Shepherd mix. We believe the mix to be Husky or Akita. He weighs about 75 lbs and is about 7 years old. He is neutered. My husband and I 'rescued' him when we believe he was about 4-5 months old. His name was Kazer but we thought that was weird and he would still respond to Kase. : ) He was in a home where he wasn't fed, given water, or let out to use the restroom regularly. He had a tremendous amount of anxiety that we've helped him overcome. He feels most secure when he is crated while we are away from home. He's a great protector. He sleeps in our young daughter's room at night to help keep watch ... (Read More)over her. He quickly warms up to strangers who like to pet him. Kase loves walks, running and treats. He loves to cuddle if you'll let him. He's very smart - knows commands like sit, speak, roll over, high five, and more. He enjoys playing with other dogs (small or large) and running with them at dog parks. We're two adults who work full time with two kids under 2.5 years old. Just can't keep up with all of our responsibilities. Kase deserves more exercise and cuddles than we have time to give him. We hope to find a home for him with a fenced in back yard or lots of open land to run and play. He would love to play with active adults or a family with kids. But really, he's happy just being around and petted. He loves being a part of any and everything that is going on. Oh, and he loves peanut butter. :) (Less)

Hi there. My name is Cali. I am about 2 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Lisbon area and I was brought in to the pound. I came in with horrible skin infections and was infested with fleas. I have been treated for fleas and put on a good food and my skin now looks great and my hair is growing back in. I will need put on a good food and kept on flea prevention when I am with my new family. I am a wonderful dog. I love people, I get along well with other dogs and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The ... (Read More)adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.     Friendly, cheerful dog, with beautiful manners. She weighs about 60 pounds, and will eat dry food plus any other fresh fruits and vegetables I give her. Loves to run and play. Calm in the house, will bark if other dogs walk near property. Mallory came to me from the local humane society. I have to give her up as I am relocating to California, where my daughter-in-law and grandchildren are allergic to dogs. Her previous owner gave her up because of her long hair that sheds.

Had him since he was ten weeks old. Had a friend watch over him for two months, until I found my own place. He was neglected by the friend. He is now five years old, and has viciously attacked me for the first time. I had a hospital visit, and received fourteen stitches. I don't want to scare anyone, I just can't have him around my daughter, she is only three. I work too much to train him, plus I'm still traumatized from the attack. I don't want to see him put down, only an owner who would train him, and find him a good home.

I adore this dog and want him to go to a good home where he'll have the best chance for a good long life. Please help us.

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-11-00186Leroy (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Leroy. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was taken in by the pound due to living in a neglectful situation and I am now looking for a new home. I am a very friendly, happy, sweet boy! I am very happy to be off of a chain. I love people and I get along well with the other dogs that I have been around here at the pound. I will need a little work with housebreaking but otherwise, I am a wonderful boy! If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or ... (Read More)credit/debit cards for adoption fees. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. Animal ID: 17-04-27-00054BARNEY (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

'BARNEY' is the sweetest, gentlest, best disposition dog one could every meet. Darn close to 'perfect'. This handsome, 3-4 yr old, 50 lb. German Shepherd mix was rescued from a very high kill pound where he was on the 'euth list' with no hope. He smiles, wags his tail, gently sidles up to you for attention, and as you can see in the pictures, loves to ride as co-pilot in the car. Barney doesn't have a mean bone in his body & loves other dogs; especially those of an equally gentle & sweetly silly nature. Barney is a treasure and would be a delightful companion for a single adult of any age. Barney could also be a terrific family dog in a ... (Read More)home that is not too loud & boisterous. If you are interested in seeing video of Barney, please email the rescue at luvablefurryfriendsrescue@gmail.com and we will be happy to send a few to you. Barney was 'heart worm positive' and underwent treatment for this highly & successfully treatable condition. Due to this treatment Barney is not presently neutered but will be once cleared to be neutered by Veterinarian. Barney has been de-wormed, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, crate-trained, house-trained and micro-chipped. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. Animal ID: 403309Chuckles (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chuckles - AVAIL! :) M, 8 y/o, 78 lbs Mastiff / Shepherd mix Neutered Chuckles respects strong but fair leadership so he'd be best with either a man or a woman who can give him that leadership. In return he is very loyal, protective, and soft-hearted to those he trusts, all about belly rubs, back scratches, hugs, and kisses! Chuckles knows the commands: sit, lay down, stay, come, and heel. He's a thick, goofy boy, short & stout and has a lot of pep and vitality. He loves to wander the backyard, go on daily mile-long walks, and even keeps up on jogs! But he seeks indoor companionship the most. He is crate trained and can be ... (Read More)crated when you're not home or overnight. He would be best in a one-on-one relationship but can be co-located with other dogs as well with proper supervision. Not recommended for homes with cats/small animals. SPECIAL OFFER: Thank you to AlphA and Omega Dog Training who has graciously provided in-home obedience training for Chuckles! They will provide 1 hour of training to whomever adopts Chuckles to show you how to lead with the verbal and visual commands that Chuckles has learned to follow. HISTORY: Chuckles ended up at the kill-shelter after a life of neglect. He was abused with collars so embedded in his neck that they had to be removed and treated by a vet. We showed him humans can be kind and gentle. When we rescued Chuckles he was drastically underweight, heartworm positive, had dental issues, and was certain to be destroyed. We had him examined and treated by our hospital veterinarians and our excellent fosters have been providing great care, nutrition, and interaction daily. Rescue Me ID: 16-01-04-00518Sandy (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sandy is a 2 year old, german shepherd/red heeler mix. She has been spayed, is current on shots, and is heart worm negative. Sandy is a smart and active girl. She loves to work and to please her humans. She is not good with cats and is frightened of hound children. She would do best in a home with older children. She loved our 6 and 8 year old, so any child above those ages would be fine. She is currently in our prison training program where she walks on a leash daily, is crate trained, and she has learned all of her basic commands. Sandy was saved by her former family from being put to sleep at an overcrowded shelter. They surrendered her ... (Read More)to our rescue to find her a better home, with a family who knows the breed and has room for her to run and play. She does not like cats or birds, but gets along well with other dogs and enjoys children. She is a good girl who is true to her breed, a worker. If interested, please contact us for an application. Our rescue does not go by a first come, first serve basis. We process the applications that come in, and choose the best home for each dog. However, we also do not hold dogs. They are ready to be adopted now. After a dog is adopted, we can then rescue another dog in need. Thank you for choosing a rescue dog. (Less)
