Rescue Me ID: 14-12-20-00424BECKY (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BECKY was once in San Antonio Animal Care Services, but she thought she had found her perfect forever family. Sadly, they did not give her a chance and she was returned to once again be on death row. Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue saved her and brought her back to the pack. BECKY is extremely active, LOVES her toys, LOVES to run and chase around, she can get vocal when she plays and gets excited, but that is pretty standard for dogs, just like excited children lol. BECKY is responsive to commands although I have not done any training with her, she will be very easy to train. BECKY would suit an active family who can give her ... (Read More)both the mental and physical exercise that she needs to keep her busy and out of mischief. BECKY has an estimated date of birth of around 2nd February 2013. She is spayed, rabies, current on her vaccines, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease, de-wormed and micro-chipped She is great with kids, as long as they respect her boundaries and understand that dogs too need time to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue so we cannot say how she is with cats, however, she is still relatively young and could be taught to leave them alone, if she did have that 'interest'. BECKY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170. Although located in Texas we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC., a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) is $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SPIRO was saved from BARC shelter and was in a much worse state than the shelter had said. He was taken immediately to Leon Valley Vet Clinic where Dr. Meier determined him to be extremely anemic, dehydrated, severe demodex and skin infections. He couldn't stand up and was immediately put on IV fluids and anti-biotic. Since being home with the pack, SPIRO has made amazing progress and as you can see from the photo his hair has almost all grown back, he is eating, he is running and playing with the other pups and to look at him you would never know how close to a miserable, painful death he was. SPIRO is feeling great and is ready for his ... (Read More)new forever family to find him and take him into their hearts and homes. Sam is potty trained and knows his basic commands. He's great on a leash. He is extremely calm and loving. He loves cuddling and napping. Sam would be the perfect family dog.     Seeking open hearts to welcome Be BE Home for the Holidays (6 photos) I got a call from Brad Booker head Animal Control Officer from the Josephine County Animal Shelter for assistance. So often Animals Control Officers - referred to as 'Dog Catchers' and looked upon as some faceless, heartless entity with a snare in hand driving a caged truck just looking for some wayward stray! But truth be told- Our officers have loving hearts! Now we are looking for yours. One of many stories now told: Brad Booker came across a sweet old lady in mid eighties on the outskirts of the County who could no longer care adequately for her old companion Ms. Be ... (Read More)Be. Ms. Be Be's advanced years and maladies would make her difficult to place. Brad Booker sounded the Bells of Christmas - and we heard them! One of our devoted Shelter Friends volunteers Pat Shaffner- Hall stepped up to foster this old gal until we could find her a warm home and loving hearts. Her nails needed a manicure desperately! Cheryl from Cheryl's Mobile Grooming came on her sleigh before you could say HO HO HO! Dr. Tom gave her an exam- and although some of her medical issues are treatment prohibitive because of her advanced age- He treated her ear infections and gave eye medicine. Sweet Old Be Be does have tumors in her eyes- and is blind. She also is surely deaf. She has tumors under her gums-. But she is a sweet old girl approximately 13 years old with a gentle heart seeking to rest herself at your feet for all Holidays to come! contact: raleigh@savethewhiskers.or (Less)

DEMI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services. She is still very nervous but when you are close to her she loosens up and becomes a happy love bug. DEMI is a little unsure about being round the other dogs, she is not aggressive with them, and is getting better within the pack each day. We do not think that she has had any socialization with dogs or much interaction with humans. Therefore we are working on building her trust and confidence. working on. DEMI will need a family, that at first, will let her trust and gain confidence in her own time. She will need lots of physical and mental exercise to keep her mind stimulated. She will benefit from basic, advanced and any other kind of training or sports that German Shepherd Dogs love and excel in. We are looking for that special family in the Pacific Northwest.     I have not had any luck finding a new home for my beloved dog PJ. She is a three year old shepherd/pitbull terrier. My last option, as far as I can tell, is to take her to the humane society. They already told me that she would not be accepted and they could only euthanize her. The reason I can't keep her is because we recently moved to apartments with a lot of other dogs. PJ got out and bit another dog and is no longer allowed on the property. I am a student and I can't afford to move and I don't have anyone to take her for me.     BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. She has not been crated at the rescue, dogs have free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have ... (Read More)neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. Thankfully the surgery was 100% success, the distemper was stopped from spreading and because the neurological symptoms were caught almost immediately there are no neurological side effects of distemper symptoms. One downside is that BELLE has lost almost all of her teeth. This does not hinder her in anyway at all and she happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for battling and winning the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE has heard there are wonderful families in the Pacific Northwest and would love to be home with one of her own for the holidays. We will use Paws Without Borders to transport her 'home'. Her $350 adoption fee includes this. Thank you for looking at our sweet Belle and considering adding her to your family. (Less)

Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered

My name is Harley, and I will be eight (8) years old in August 2014. I have a warn and loyal personality once I get to know you. I am well housetrained, and would love a family that has time for me and a fenced yard. An adult home or a home with older children would be best When inside I am very quiet and love to beg for a treat with my eyes. When satisfied I will find a quiet place to lay for the evening. Although I spends my time now with three other dogs in a large enclosed area, I needs a home with one-on-one attention. I am a protector. I do not like people on bikes unless I know and trusts them. I could bite someone if I feel ... (Read More)threatened or provoked by our other dogs. I have not been socialized with other dogs besides his current pack, but would probably do well in a neutral zone such as a dog park or if closely supervised. I did respond well to a training collar with the vibration setting only. I needs a home where I can get the attention I deserve. I loves to go for walks on a leash or roam free where he can be supervised. I walk with a loose leash right by your side... I don't like the stray kitties, but I do fine with the chickens. If you might be my forever new family, Please email Fran@k9homefinders.org for an application, and tell us a little about the home you have for me, where you are located, and a phone number would also be nice....I am waiting.
