German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tory is a very loyal family dog but is too high energy and difficult for us to handle. We are an older couple and when we got Tory she was not leash trained. She breaks away from us and has pulled us down before chasing cats or seeing other dogs. She needs a strong, younger person who is very EXPERIENCED in dog training to adopt her. She is very good in the house. No accidents ever in the four years we have had her. She wants to chase cats, squirrels, deer.

This absolutely stunning boy is Ski. He has it all; looks, brains, strength, and love to give. Ski is pushing 2 years old and 90 lbs. He was saved from a high kill shelter in south Texas and came into rescue at just 50 lbs. SKI is still a LOT of puppy so he will need an experienced GSD person or family that understands they will need to be his alpha who he can respect and look up to. SKI will need an active family who understands and is willing to commit the time to meet his needs; being able to give him both the physical and, equally as important, the mental stimulation to keep him healthy and happy. SKI is neutered, up to date on ... (Read More)vacs, micro chipped and looking for his safe forever home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This cutie is SHELBY and she is a Collie/Shepherd blend. She is a lively, happy and confident puppy that was saved out of shelter in the high kill state of Texas where she was suffering with a skin condition. Shelby is now safe in a private rescue. She tested negative for mange on two separate occasions, so an allergy and under-nourishment is most likely the cause. Since SHELBY has been with us, she has thrived. Her itching is getting less and less, and her hair is growing back nicely. Shelby will need a family that has time to guide and train her in having manners and appropriate behavior as she grows up into a smart, stunning ... (Read More)adult that she is to become. Shelby is spayed, up to date on vacs, and micro-chipped. Because she is too young she has not been tested for heartworm but she is on monthly prevention. We will transport her via Paws Without Borders, which is included in her adoption fee of $335. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Jenna and everyone tells me that I'm beautiful and very, well-behaved. My only bad trait is that I'm afraid of young, rambunctious boys, but I just love little girls. I'm critter friendly and currently live with cats, goats, a bunny, a guinea pig, and another little dog. I'm very people friendly, too. I just need a place where I can run and run, and be safe from very, scary rowdy boys. If you have a big outdoor play area, and you're looking for a loving, near perfect, German Shepherd female to be a great companion to you and your girl(s), well-then I'm the one for you!

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi everybody! I'm Duke, and I'm a natural born leader just like my name implies. I get along great with other dogs, big and small. I like to go on walks and to the dog park with my fur pals. I'm leash, crate, kennel, and house trained, and really not much trouble at all. I'm just a little uneasy around youngsters when they try to get too friendly too fast. I do prefer the older, calmer crowd. My tail curls up when my curiosity is up, which is kind of a funny trait, I know. I'm a big and handsome guy, just like John Wayne, also known as 'The Duke.' And The Duke would tell me this.. 'A dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do.' So I aim to find ... (Read More)myself a super duper place to call home and a family who will love me forever and ever.     This fine looking dog is BLUE and he was born at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Texas on December 14th , 2012. His mother is a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and made a full recovery and you would never know they were sick. BLUE is the 2nd largest of the pups, he is an absolute love bug. He is very affectionate, but is happy to occupy himself also. Rescue Me ID: 14-11-13-00362BELLE -pwb (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. She has not been crated at the rescue, dogs have free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have ... (Read More)neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. Thankfully the surgery was 100% success, the distemper was stopped from spreading and because the neurological symptoms were caught almost immediately there are no neurological side effects of distemper symptoms. One downside is that BELLE has lost almost all of her teeth. This does not hinder her in anyway at all and she happily eats with all the other dogs, takes treats and bones too. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for battling and winning the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE has heard there are wonderful families in the Pacific Northwest and would love to be home with one of her own for the holidays. We will use Paws Without Borders to transport her 'home'. Her $350 adoption fee includes this. Thank you for looking at our sweet Belle and considering adding her to your family. (Less)

Hey! I'm Kit-Kat, but you can call me Kit for short. I'm a 5 month old German Shepherd mix (at least that's what my papers say). I'm living with my foster mommy in a nice, cozy house. It's so much better than my kennel at the shelter. I have my own blanket, toys, and I even have 4 foster siblings to play with! I'm so happy here, but what I really want is a family of my very own. I'm doing really well at following my foster sisters outside to potty, don't mind sharing my food or my toys, learning how to sit (I've almost got it down), get along with dogs of all sizes and I don't mind cats. I even fetch! Don't forget that I enjoy being around ... (Read More)humans of all ages! Most of all, I love being able to follow you around and give you a million kisses. I promise I won't be big and I promise to be on my best behavior if you take me home with you! Kit is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, but is ready to fly to the PNW once adopted. The $500 adoption fee* covers spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, micro-chip and transport to the PNW.     ADONIS saved from Garland, TX Shelter in a really bad condition. He was extremely emaciated, has a skin infection, but boy is this boy full of life. He was seen by our vet at Devine Veterinary Clinic, where he was given a full examination and a blood panel run. Diagnosis was that he had a bad skin infection and was severely under-nourished. The treatment a course of anti-biotics and of course good nutrients and a good diet. At the rescue I was feeding grain free, organic food and ADONIS was doing great, he gained weight, his coat was coming back, his skin cleared up. THEN, I ran out of that food and had to switch to INNOVA, but it had ... (Read More)grains. Within a few days almost all of ADONIS hair fell out. Then a week later it started to grow back again. So this must have been just the change the diet, one of the problems we face being a rescue. However, he is doing great on the INNOVA food now and has made a remarkable come back. ADONIS was tested for heart-worm disease and the 3 tick-born diseases at the beginning of October 2013, sadly he tested positive for heart-worm disease - this poor boy can't get a break. He also had a lump on his head. ADONIS had heart-worm treatment in the middle of October 2014 and made a great recovery with no issues, problems or set backs. He then went back to have the lump removed from his head and has had no issues there, we are waiting for the biopsy results to come back, but we are confident that it was benign. ADONIS is such a happy boy, clearly enjoying life now forgetting about his horrendous past life of neglect and abuse. ADONIS all fixed and healthy is hoping that a family will have room in their hearts and homes to let him in and he can shower them with his love and devotion. ADONIS does walk well on a leash although he can get excited and jump up - but that will stop with a bit of correction training and routine. ADONIS is a laid back boy who would be happy to sit by your side and share your secrets. ADONIS of course still likes to run and play, but he is truly happy doing whatever his human is doing. Adonis is feeling very confident that his forever home is out there, just in time for the holidays. He's already picturing a stocking with his name on it hanging above the fireplace. Go to www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org and Paws without Borders will transport this wonderful boy from our rescue in south Texas to your loving home. Cost of transport is included in adoption fee.     *** MEYHA has HIGH PREY DRIVE for SMALL ANIMALS and WILL KILL THEM! MEYHA was saved from Longview, TX where she had been found very emaciated. She is a stunning girl, with a unique look of having one blue eye and one brown eye. MEYHA is very responsive and automatically sat when I got treats out, she is very alert and has a high energy. MEHYA came with a report from the shelter that she has a high prey drive for small animals - this includes small dogs, cats and wildlife.     My name is Harley, and I will be eight (8) years old in August 2014. I have a warn and loyal personality once I get to know you. I am well housetrained, and would love a family that has time for me and a fenced yard. An adult home or a home with older children would be best When inside I am very quiet and love to beg for a treat with my eyes. When satisfied I will find a quiet place to lay for the evening. Although I spends my time now with three other dogs in a large enclosed area, I needs a home with one-on-one attention. I am a protector. I do not like people on bikes unless I know and trusts them. I could bite someone if I feel ... (Read More)threatened or provoked by our other dogs. I have not been socialized with other dogs besides his current pack, but would probably do well in a neutral zone such as a dog park or if closely supervised. I did respond well to a training collar with the vibration setting only. I needs a home where I can get the attention I deserve. I loves to go for walks on a leash or roam free where he can be supervised. I walk with a loose leash right by your side... I don't like the stray kitties, but I do fine with the chickens. If you might be my forever new family, Please email Fran@k9homefinders.org for an application, and tell us a little about the home you have for me, where you are located, and a phone number would also be nice....I am waiting.
