Rescue Me ID: 16-05-29-00125Shasta (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Shasta is 6 years old German Shepherd Beagle mix and looking for a new family. She weighs 56 lbs, but could probably afford to lose a few :) Shasta is a playful gal who loves to romp around with her person!! She is calm, patient, and quiet, but still loves to cut loose. She would prefer a home with older kids or just adults. Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin. Oregon. hours: Monday -Friday 10-4:30pm Saturday 10-4pm. PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTATIONS BELOW. The most common question is 'Good with Cats?' If we know has lived with cats or farm animals will be stated above in ... (Read More)biography. Otherwise- we don't know. If you inquire by email- please tell us about you, your family, your yard, other animals, children, and your expectations of your new pet and what your new pet can expect from you. When you do so, we can better address your inquiry. Shelter number 541 474-5458 for status of availability as some may have been adopted since this post, and about any pending spay/neuter surgery if noted as sometimes spay/neuter appointment may be sooner if a cancellation is available. Dogs noted as a Great American Shelter Dog are noted as such because we are not sure of the breed and can only give out best guess. See more at: www.savethewhiskers.org Alternate Contact Raleigh@savethewhiskers.org or text 541 660 6578 name of dog. It is always nice if you send an inquiry about a specific adoptable guest via email to tell us about you, your family and other pets, your yard, and most importantly, your expectations of your new family member so we can answer your questions appropriately as best as possible. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away! They will need love, patience, a strong owner who will let them know what is expected of them and what they can expect from their new family. It may take an afternoon or it may take a week or so! But they need homes and families who will bring them back to knowing what family is! Puppies: Please understand they are puppies; not potty trained; not good or bad with kids, dogs, cats. They are pliable puppies ready for you to imprint good manners, social skills and training. You are encouraged to follow up with training after they are finished with shot series and or at the direction of your veterinarian. A happy healthy well socialized puppy is a happy family! You may be asked to make a refundable deposit for spay/neutering. Inquire at the Shelter. General Adoption Fees for Dog: Adult dogs and puppies- $125, Senior dogs 7 and over $50. Veterans are half price / $62.50 with presentation of government issued VA ID. For Josephine County fee includes first year licensing. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. You can make application via the Shelter Website: http://www.jocoshelter.com/#!adoptions/c6mv Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dudley is about 5-years-old and, as you can see, enjoys making himself comfortable! He loves people (especially when they give him belly rubs) and gets along with most dogs as long, as they are not dominant males. Like most Rotties, he's stubborn and head-strong. Dudley needs a good leader to keep boundaries intact. He would be good with older children. He had surgery at the beginning of May to repair cruciate (knee) ligaments on both rear legs. He still has a few weeks of recovery to go before he can be adopted. Dudley can be met and a deposit placed until that time comes. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and is microchipped. He ... (Read More)is located in Astoria and can be met there now for a deposit, or in Portland around mid-June for adoption. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting, or even fostering, one of our dogs. We are a federal non-profit rescue. We do require a completed application and a home visit prior to adopting. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Mae is a very well behaved, well tempered beautiful white, German Shepherd. She has grown up in our family of 3 boys from the time she was 12 weeks old. After going through a difficult divorce process, we do not have the time to give Mae all the love and attention that she deserves. We hope she can be placed in a home where she will get long walks and lots of time chasing a tennis ball. Mae has never had a health problem or destroyed a piece of furniture. While she does enjoy chasing the occasional cat around the neighborhood, she generally comes when called and likes to stay close to home.

Banks received two recessive genes from his inbreeding parents. One is partial albinism and the second is slight gigantism. Due to Banks being left in a backyard for his whole life, he has not had opportunity to be socialized properly.
