First let me provide a little history on Carter. I have known him since he was a puppy, the first family that had him did not take care of him, what so ever. They would keep him locked in a cage for hours at a time, living in his own filth. My parents ended up offering the family money in order to buy Carter to get him out of that situation. Two bones in his foot have formed to make one bone. Sometimes he will hold his paw up and keep on going. His disability has not slowed him down. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life.
