Animal ID: 6664Treeter (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

No one could be sweeter than our Treeter! Come meet this 2 year old, 45 lbs. Shepherd mix (possibly some Boxer and coonhound, too) with the most beautiful face and eyes. Treeter's motto is to live wholeheartedly. Bouncy, prancy, loyal, and joyful, Treeter absolutely loves her toys! There isn't a person she has met that doesn't receive her undying affection -- hugs, kisses and all! Treeter is potty trained, settles down to sleep in her crate, and has lovely house manners - just give her a bed close to you and she snuggles down nicely. A sweet trick with her: just rub her chest and she'll fall asleep sitting next to you and loves to cuddle. ... (Read More)She is calm most of the day, but does still need an outlet for her energy or it can get bottled up. She knows sit and stay (but easily 'forgets' around people she thinks might not know that she knows these things!) and is working on lie down and heel. Her exuberance and sense of loyalty make her suitable for adult households and those with children 13 or older. She might not always understand why she needs to share your attention. Treeter thrives in an environment where every member of the family can help reinforce boundaries, as she can be strong and determined if you allow her. Treeter would do well in a home that has structure and rules so she feels secure and knows the role she is to play. And preferably no little furry critters -- she really can't help chasing them. Not all dogs know what to do with her energy and she's not so sure she wants to share her food; so, if she has a canine roommate or visitors, it will take an adopter willing to work on slow, proper introductions over the first couple of weeks. She is current on all shots, spayed, microchipped, and located in Hanover, PA. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-18-00130Buddy (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant

I am putting this post out here in Desperation. My aunt who has just been put in a assisted living care home has a German Shepard who is not being taken care of locked in a sun porch with little to no interaction. He has been there for approximately a month now with no interaction from anyone. My aunts house is being shut down because it is infested with bedbugs and you cannot enter the house so therefore they are leaving this dog in the house to be the only source of food for these critters. I have contacted animal control, the sheriffs office, the humane society and have had no luck having this dog removed. I have pleaded ... (Read More)with my aunt and family to please get the dog out of that house but she refuses to cooperate and she is and will not probably ever return to that house. When talking to my aunt she said the dog has only been to the vet once when he was a puppy because she can't afford to take him. That being said I am not sure if he is neutered or not but I am positive he is not up to date with his shots as well as does not have a license. I am furious and frustrated when it comes to the rights of this animal. I have 2 puppies at home and it saddens me to think this animal is living in these conditions and I keep running into a brick wall. The family does not want the dog but is not motivated in finding him a home. The dog is familiar with my younger brother so I had him jump the fence and go in and check on the dog because I knew my cousin was out of town on a camping trip. My brother said the dog had no food and very little water and these weather conditions are brutal especially being set up on a sun porch. Please Please Help me put an end to this cruelty!!!!! Also I apologize but Buddy is not his name but I cannot remember the puppies name right now. Thank you! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-13-00313Kiff (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This is Kiff or Kiffy, a lover who pretends to be a fighter. The sweetest dog you'll ever meet who is quick to hop up in your lap for a cuddle or sleep curled up by your feet. Loves fetch so much it's almost a stereotype. He needs someone who can love him 25/8! The reason we have to put him up to rehome is that he needs a more available and experience trainer to bring out the best in him. Kiff has severe anxiety (for which he is medicated); he cannot be left alone and will not tolerate being in a crate for more than a few minutes. He is not aggressive, but lacks any semblance of self-control (y'know, like a dog). Kiff can tolerate ... (Read More)well-mannered dogs with a slow introduction but cannot be trusted around small animals. While Kiff has never met a person he didn't like, he can get overexcited easily and so should not live in a home with children. Kiff has made progress with crate training, is fully house trained (he's never had an accident), walks well on a leash, and loves to go on hikes. Kiff will do best in an experienced home with someone who has plenty of time to spend working and playing with this wonderful pup. If you feel experienced enough to save this pup, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. We are willing to travel to meet prospective owners. More than anything, we want this dog to get into the forever home he deserves! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-12-00663Casper (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

We are looking to rehome our dog Casper. Casper can be a good dog, but he has had serious aggression issues in the past. Casper should not be around children, and should not be around other pets. Casper is very protective and can be aggressive towards strangers. About a year ago, Casper had an incident where he bit a very small child. After the incident he was put into a more rigorous training program, including training with an e-collar and has responded very well. Casper walks very well on a leash, knows many commands, is crate trained and housebroken. He loves to chase balls and frisbees and can be a very active dog, but he's also ... (Read More)comfortable just lounging around.Casper is very observant and an excellent watch dog. He is extremely loving and cuddly to people he knows and trusts. He has been with us since he was a puppy (he's 4.5 years old now) and always loved and well cared for. He started showing aggressive signs around the age of 6 months, and we just haven't been able to fully train the aggressive tendencies out of him. With a watchful owner and continued training, Casper has the potential to be a good dog, but we feel with a small child in our home, we can't risk his aggressive behavior coming up again. We just want Casper to be in a good home and in the right situation. With Casper's aggression issues and anxiety towards strangers as we described above, transitioning Casper to a new home could potentially be a challenge, and will probably take some time. Also, we are going to require his new owner(s) to sign a waiver stating that we have disclosed his aggressive history. We have tried everything we can think of to find a new home for Casper, and are desperately trying to avoid euthanizing him. (Less)

Berlin is a very sweet and gentle soul, that by no fault of his own, found himself homeless and having to survive the elements in the dead of Winter for weeks, until he was brought to the safety of our Shelter. Berlin doesn't ask for much except for the love of a family, a nice comfortable bed, and a quiet, stress-free home to spend his golden years.     Jethro is up for adoption again- turns out he does suffer significant separation anxiety. He will need someone who can work with him and maybe not leave him alone for long periods of time, or make sure that he has playmates or something to do. Jethro is just turning 3yrs old, male Rottie/GSD mix. Great with other dogs and cats, upon proper introductions. He is NOT good with children. So NO CHILDREN under 16yrs old. He is 115lbs, so he is a BIG Boy. He is a protective dog of his family, so you must have German Shepherd or Rottie experience. He is with Brindle Buddies Rescue, a 501c. Please Contact Brittney, or email me for a ... (Read More)Pre-Adoption Questionnaire. Here is her info on him: ************* This handsome young man is still waiting for a home to call his own. He may weigh in at 115 pounds, but that is all pure love. Jethro's number one all time favorite thing to do is cuddle. Sure, he enjoys playing with toys and playing with friends, but those come in second and third. His ideal home would be a family who is familiar with Rotties and Shepherds because he does get protective of his owner, but overall is very good with meeting people. Sadly, he does need a home with either no kids or kids over 16 yrs of age. Jethro is in a foster home with other dogs, but sometimes doesn't meet other dogs great when on leash. His birthday is right around the corner and he will be 3 yrs old. Jethro is housebroken, we discovered that he does suffer separation anxiety- so please NO LONG UNATTENDED DAYS. We had not had this issue with him prior to his adoption. Please contact Brittney at 610-533-4141.*********** (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I'M CHEYENNE, a 38 lb. 2-year-old who is a Love Bug disguised in a Pittie mix body. When my foster Daddy comes home, I am sooo excited that I wag my tail like it's going to fall off, jump in circles and kiss his hand. This is one way I tell him how much I love him and thank him for caring for me while I wait for my forever home. (Love Bugs are like that. Always grateful.) Ya know, I have dreams about my forever home when I sleep. I dream about how my new human will play rope toy with me, how I'll snuggle up to them on couch during TV time (did I mention I'm a Love Bug?), how I'll try my best not to destroy any squeaky toys (but it's so ... (Read More)tempting. I must resist. I must resist.), and how we'll take walks together (alone time with my human...how awesome will that be?). I dream about showing my human how I jump in the air to catch bugs. (My track record for catching isn't so great, but I sure have fun trying! And my foster Dad laughs a whole lot at this.) I dream I'll show my human that I know sit, stay, and come. (I've been working hard on this so my new human will be proud of me.) I dream of us riding in the car, how I'll be co-pilot (or backseat driver), and how I'll sniff the cool breeze. I dream how I'll meet my human's friends (I'm a bit shy at first), and how I might have a dog brother or sister (but if I don't, that's ok.) I dream I'll bring joy and laughter to my new human so they'll be so happy they adopted me. If you're looking for a Love Bug like me, please come get me! I want to jump in circles for you. I'm CHEYENNE. CHEYENNE is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee is $325. Please note that training is strongly recommended for all dogs. As with all rescue animals, breed determination cannot be validated without genetic testing. Visit WWW.LULUSRESCUE.ORG and click on the ADOPT tab for an overview of the Lulu's Rescue adoption process. Thank you for adopting and saving a life -- you are CHEYENNE'S hero (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-16-00630Leon (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Leon is a young guy who has spent a lot of time on his own (about 4 months). He is about 2 yrs old and will do about anything for food. Leon was born with a deformed rear paw. Two bones in his foot have formed to make one bone. Sometimes he will hold his paw up and keep on going. His disability has not slowed him down. Leon learned very quickly to trust people but sometimes loud noises still scare him. A home without young children would be best for Leon. A meet and greet is required with any other family pets and any potential adopters will need to spend time at the center to gain Leon's trust.
