Dumped with the Lab I just entered. No bad habits, housebroken, doesn't chew things up, undemanding. sweet & loving and quite smart. Again, if I was not 80 years old and had my old property, I would keep him and the lab. They are very loyal. I can take them to the large no-leash park & they may run off a bit, but come back in a few minutes. Gets along great with my Jack Russell & Rat Terrier.

|Rescue Me ID: 17-09-18-00377Bruar (male)|
Bruar is a 4 month old German Shepherd Mix pup (maybe with a hint of Aussie) who is all about play and adventure! He is currently 26 lbs and expect he will be a large boy when full grown. To be clear, we are looking for the following requirements (must haves) for Bruar: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the breed 2. A large Physically Fenced Yard (not underground) 3. A younger medium/large dog as a playmate and who will be able show him the ropes (1-5 years old) 4. We only adopt our pups to be inside pets 5. IF there are children, the preference would be 8 years of age or older. Bruar is the total package: smart, handsome, friendly (humans, dogs and cats) and full of puppy fun! He is mischievous and entertaining all in one! He is up to date on his shots for his age, neutered and micro chipped. Bruar is doing very well with potty training, but it is still a work in progress which will need to be continued in his new home while providing him with lots of love and support. His ideal home would include an indoor/outdoor family who is active and wants a furry companion to take along for the ride! In his foster home he got to go out to the barn and visit the horses daily which he really enjoyed and his favorite foster sibling was a kitten! He needs a good sized fence yard or acreage where he would be safe to run and play. He would also really enjoy to have another young dog friend to hang around and play with to see what kind of trouble they could get into! This may sound like a lot ... and it is ... but we have taken the time to get to know Bruar and what kind of home he would enjoy and do the best in and that is our priority ... even if it takes 100 applications to find the right one. Bruar is currently located in Cookeville, Tennessee and the adoption fee is $250. Transportation may be available to out of state adopters for an additional cost. If you would like to adopt Bruar please fill out our online adoption application at http://safehaventn.com/. (Less)

Hilda is 4 yr old with a heavy drive instinct. Always wants to carry something in her mouth. She is very playful, Loves all people but maybe would need larger kids so she wouldn't knock down while running around. jShe is housebroke, very good in the home. But she just does not like other dogs around her. So a fenced in yard or a big farm for her to run around in is what we are looking for. No to cats or chickens, She is good around sheep, goats, might herd them a bit but not hurt them. She has been around horses, She loves to go hiking and swimming.

|Animal ID: SSRR17-0615-033Friday (male)|
Will you leave me too? Everyone always leaves me... Meet Friday! The dog with the looks, personality, and charm to make him 'Dog of the Year' in any household! Friday is a Rottweiler & German Shepard Mix. Brown and golden colored. With a handsome, squishy, and chunky face! Gorgeous coat. Shiny. Healthy and vibrant look to him. He's about 68 lbs (up from the low 50's when he first came to us neglected and starving!). Neutered, UTD on all shots, Heartworm Preventative and Flea & Tick Meds. Micro chipped. He is an empathetic, playful (get ready because he's oh-so-playful and energetic!!), snuggle-bear and your soon-to-be rock! Friday cares so much about how others feel and wants everyone in the household to be happy and loved! This is all he wants! To love and be loved! So simple. He'll be that shoulder you cry on, soft fur to bury your face in, cheek to press to your own with eyes closed-- he's the best friend you didn't know you were missing. Friday loves you already-- and you've only just met through a picture! Friday would flourish in a household where he is not left alone all day. He has anxiety from being abandoned at a very young age. Solitude, scavenging, and desertion are things he sadly learned best after being left to roam the rural countryside for many months until he serendipitously came into our hands. He is fearful of being left alone for long periods of time and can get into quite naughty behavior if left to his own devices for too long. He longs to trust that a family will always be there for him. He craves frequent two-legged and/or four-legged companionship. No more solitude! He has seemingly been hit on repeated occasion-- as can only be surmised by his penchant for cowering and hanging his head low in undeserved defeat. He being so young, though, his beginning years should be but forgotten memories when he meets and belongs to his true forever home. He loves dogs (loves to play with them!) and is funnily impartial to cats. He ADORES and DELIGHTS in children. Do you have a child playmate elementary school age and up for him to play with, cuddle next to, sleep beside? Then Friday is your child's next best friend too! He will be over-the-moon over such an innocent and playful small human companion and fiercely loyal to the whole family unit-- from the smallest to the tallest. He takes well to training-- thrives off of order, consistency, and interactive instructions. He is very intelligent! What he could learn and do if someone took the time to train him! His eyes dance when 'lessons' begin-- bottomless eyes that see to the depths of your soul! Not only seeing, knowing, but begging for only one thing: to be loved eternally and wholeheartedly. Without any 'take backs.' He longs to be a pet in a home with a fence because he likes to run and stretch his legs when the mood strikes him; so he needs a good protective boundary to keep him safe for when this free-spirited mood may strike his fancy! He would love a playful and friendly canine companion to help him learn the ropes in his new home. He may vie for the alpha position, so a home where he can take that spot happily by all or co-exist in comradeship as a 'close second' alpha would be ideal. Though, too, if he were just one-on-one with a human pal, consistently and frequently, and no other furry friends in the house, this too could be exactly what this dog needs! As long as he is with a loved one, has someone beloved to play with (don't forget he's so very playful!) and to snuggle with, he is eternally happy and content. Friday has TOO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE to be without a home and family! Do you have a warm embrace that will never grow cold and an open LOYAL heart for Friday ? A TRULY FOREVER home? If so, he would love to meet you! (Less)

My story: I was dumped as a pup, then I got into somebody's trash and they shot me, I found my way to nice humans and they took me to Doc and he had to amputate my rear leg from the gunshot wound, after I recovered those humans took me to Big Dog Heaven because I did not like their cat. They wanted me to stay because I'm cute and very sweet, but that darn cat came first. So I was jealous and they could not keep me. I can either be the only dog, or maybe one or two a bit smaller would be cool with me, I do like to play with the smaller ones here at the shelter. Sometimes I play too rough with the bigger ones and they don't like it so much. I am the fastest runner here at the rescue. I am always happy, and if the weather is nice, I like outside, but I don't like really cold weather and I am good inside the house, so I get to come in at nights and when it is cold. We also have siesta every day so we come in from the playyards and nap for a couple of hours to give our caretakers a break. I love to sleep with a human, and I am pretty good at it. But around here...we have to take turns on that, and I never get enough of that I love it so much, almost as much as watching tv on the sofa. I am handi-capped, but the only special need I have is a really good thick bed for my hips so I wont get arthritis as bad later. Gotta take care of the other back leg, don't want nothing to happen to it : ) So my crate has a big ortho bed in it for naptime and my human sleeps on memory foam yeah baby..it's the bomb! (Less)

This is Miss Robin. She's a 2 year old mix, of what we are not sure. Our best guess is Dachshund/Shepard mix. She weighs in around 30 pounds. She come from a hoarding case. Robin is a very different kind of girl. We've tried hard but where unable to house break her. Probably due to being locked in a home all day with a mental ill owner. We where asked to step in when her owner was put in a home. All Robins pups found forever homes, but Robin is still with us. Robin's hobbies are barking at strangers and chasing bugs. Robin gets along wonderful with other dogs. We think she'd make a great addition to a farm. Once she trust you she will guard you with her life. She has a sponsor so her adoption fee is only $50. If you'd like to give this girl the dream home instead of living her life in the shelter give Amanda a call. 931-212-1030. |Rescue Me ID: 17-01-13-00007Hank Williams (male)|
Hank is a sensitive, highly interactive and intelligent dog that needs a leader as his human. He likes to lean up against you and be your 'baby', look you in the eye and thinks the bed is his :). This was a Death Row dog that is supposed to be a 4 year old Shepherd/ Canaan Mix, but might have Basenji . Only DNA would prove his actual breeds. The shelter said Canaan mix, but I think he looks like he might have some German Shepherd. He weighs approx 49-55 lbs. All shots current, neutered and HW Negative. I've worked with him, trained, and behavior mod'd him quite a bit, and he has been highly progressive. He has started to be good with my dogs and cats, and needs a slow introduction. The path he had gone down was very difficult for him and he needs permanence. He knows most the commands and his food aggression is moderate now. Crate feeding will be a constant for him. He will make a great companion. Home Inspection(50 mile radius)and vet references required. Features: Obedient, potty trained, crate trained, good on leash....INDOOR ONLY HOME (Less)

German Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The German Shepherd is a large, highly intelligent working dog. German Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. German Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. German Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
