Turns out he didn't even have one, and so he just couldn't take Delta and her sister Taff. When he went to Animal Care Services to find a place for them, one of our volunteers saw their adorable faces and just couldn't let them sit in the kennels, so she went ahead and took the girls off his hands. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00835Marley (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is MARLEY, she was heartlessly discarded as a puppy because her ears didn't meet the 'standard' for a German Shepherd! Typical of a shepherd, Marley is a bit reserve with her affection and a little shy in the beginning as she slowly warms up to humans. Here at the shelter she is great with other dogs and has become the greeter and comforter to the new arrivals. Marley loves romping outdoors and will be quick to alert you when something is out of the norm. She will be a great and loyal addition to an active and loving family. Marley is full grown at about 60lbs., spayed, up to date on her vacs and micro- chipped. ... (Read More)Unfortunately the facility that Marley currently calls 'home' is in the high kill state of Texas, where there are too many great dogs and too few great adopters. And we know the heart breaking truth of that scenario. So we are looking for Marley's new forever home in the dog friendly East. We transport our dogs bi-monthly to their new homes via Rescue Road Trips. Marley's adoption fee is $170 and her safe and secure transport in $185. If you are interested in making Marley part of your family, email us for an adoption application and let's get this sweet girl home! (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Hello, We got Asterix from my son because he started a job driving a truck and was going to be on the road all the time & couldn't keep him. We took him to a dog trainer Hilton Butler in Frisco around the middle of December 2014 in hoping that he could help with Astrix aggression. Asterix does not like strangers. He spent 2 months with Hilton and although he has done very well with our immediate family, me, my husband & our 11 year old granddaughter, he doesn't handle strangers coming in the house at all. About a month ago, my son came into town, we went to pick him up and decided to take Asterix with us since Cody was his first owner ... (Read More)but Asterix went ballistic, didn't recognize him. We ended up putting a muzzle on him in order to get him in the back seat of the truck and my son had to sit up front. This past Easter weekend we had our dog sitter come over on Thursday evening to re-introduce her to Asterix since it had been about 3 months since she watched Asterix. My husband was at home with her and said Asterix warmed up to her quickly. He started licking her hands and her face and all of a sudden bit her on her neck and on her wrist. She went to Care Now the next morning to get a tetanus shot & by law they had to report it. Asterix was put under home quarantine for 10 days. We had our 6 year old granddaughter over about 2 months ago & Asterix lunged and barked very badly at her, of course it scared her & us to death. We take Asterix along with our 2 little dogs to the park across the street atleast 3 times per week. He minds very well when you command him to do something but when someone walks by on the sidewalk, he goes ballistic. We are desperate to find a new home for Asterix. We know he can be a very good and loving dog. We also know that he needs a very strong owner. Asterix was born September 1, 2013 so he is 19 months old & weighs 90lbs. We would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks, Cheryl & Roger Frazier 469-328-0557 (Less)

Annie is a gorgeous 7 month Shepard Mix who is incredibly scared and in major need of socialization. She was born in a backyard where she stayed with her siblings for the first few months of her life with little human contact. The owners of the house wouldn't feed them hoping that they would run away! Thankfully a nice neighbor tried to help by feeding them, he tried catching them but unfortunately she was the only one he was able to catch. When he did he brought her to us!     Hi I'm Mason! And boy do I have a lot to share with you!! Not only am I one of the cutest balls of fluff ever but I am one of NINE balls of fluff! My foster mom takes care of me and my brother Dixon (Mason and Dixon get it? Hehe). Dixon is a lot of fun, we love to play and cuddle with each other. I also love to play with my foster brother and sister (when they aren't running me over). They are really big to me but I still run after them in the yard! Maybe one day I will be big enough to play all day with them or my new fur brother/sister! Right now I am just like a baby, I will pounce, run and play but then it's time for a nap. But no ... (Read More)worries, once my nap is over its playtime again! I do not cry very much. My foster mom says that Dixon and I are two of the easiest and smartest puppy fosters she's ever had! A couple things that you should know about me: I LOVE FOOD!!! and I will eat it as fast as you can put it on the ground, so I must be fed small portions at a time so I don't get sick. I love to follow my foster mom around and cuddle her on the couch, she's my favorite!! I love toys, antlers, bones, oh and flip flops are my favorite! Sometimes I forget that shoes are not toys but my foster mom says 'NO' and I quietly set them down. She also says that Dixon and I are really smart, but I already knew that! I am not quite potty trained but I am working on it! I know that it will not take me long because I am learning so early. I must be taken outside on a regular basis though or I could have an accident. Every night I sleep in a crate next to my foster mom's bed with Dixon. We know that it's time to go to sleep so that is exactly what we do! We wake up around 6-7am every morning because we have to go potty! No one wants to potty in their crate that's just nasty!! My foster mom is very proud of us for how much we are learning and is going to hate to see us go. She will, on the other hand, love to see us go to amazing loving homes. Could it be you? Mason is an 8 week old German Shepherd/Border Collie mix. Mason currently weighs about 5 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted.     Dixon here! You have probably seen my brothers and sisters on here! We are the lucky fuzzy 9 and that's an understatement! We were saved from a high kill shelter here in Houston but my K-9 Angels came to our rescue! I am one of the ONLY two white puppies of the litter, I guess we are more border collie than German Shepherd. But that's ok, it makes us original! I currently live with my brother Mason at my foster mom's house! She loves having us both there to love on her and will hate to see us go, but not if it's to a wonderful home!! Some things to know about me: when I run, I pounce. My foster mom calls me a pouncer. She thinks it's like ... (Read More)really cute or something? I am learning potty training right now and I think I will pick it up fairly quickly since we are starting to learn so young! I must be taken outside pretty often or I will forget and have an accident. Mason and I sleep ALL night in our kennel next to our foster mom's bed, we like to know she's there. We don't really cry at all, my foster mom says that we are the smartest and easiest set of foster puppies she's ever had!! I wake up around 6-7am because I have to go potty and no one likes to go potty in a kennel!! Once I've done that and had my breakfast, its PLAYTIME! We run all over the house in the mornings because we are so full of energy! I try to play with my foster brother and sister but they are so big so I just play with Mason instead. I love all of my toys and I love to cuddle, I am pretty much the whole package! Did I mention I am adorable too? Come meet me soon so I can steal your heart!     Hi my name is Talia. I was rescued from the shelter along with my 8 siblings; they call us 'The Lucky Fuzzy Nine'. I'm a cuddly 7 lb ball of fur, and my foster mom says I have a delightful personality! I don't mind my crate for sleeping, although I'd much rather be in bed with my people. I have mastered the art of pottying outside, but remember I'm a puppy and things happen if my humans don't let me out fast enough. I enjoy playing outside, I love my toys and I'm working on walking on a leash, and I really like to be brushed. I currently live with my foster family, their 3 big dogs and 1 of my sisters. I don't mind the big dogs--I always ... (Read More)want to play with them and they tolerate me! I'm looking for my forever family so please contact K-9 Angels Rescue to adopt me soon! We believe Talia was born around February 14, 2015 and she currently weighs about 7 pounds.     Harley here, I'm a part of the pack who they like to call the 'Lucky Fuzzy 9', as I'm one of nine pups that got saved from a scary place a week ago. I may have a boy's name, but I'm definitely all diva. I love to follow my foster mom around everywhere and if I can't see her when we go to bed, I get very worried but sleep all through the night next to her in my crate but may wake up to let her know it's time for me to go out and potty. I'm in my crate during the day while my foster parents are working but haven't had an accident yet while they are gone. My foster mom comes home at lunch to play with me for a little bit. I'm not a fan of my ... (Read More)crate yet while they are gone, but I will get used to it when I get bigger I'm sure. I can be a little spit fire when it comes to showing my foster brother Trevor who's boss. I can definitely hold my own. I love chewing on antlers, as being a baby my teeth can hurt sometimes so it feels good to chew on them. Since I'm a puppy, I'm still working on not going potty inside, but my foster mom is working on it with me and I mostly know to go to the back door to let you know when I need to go. I'm definitely a little explorer out in the backyard and like to try and chase bugs until my foster mom brings me back inside (since I haven't had all my shots yet and I need to be careful what I eat or get into). I haven't been around cats yet to know if I like them or not but get along with my other furry foster siblings. My foster mom thinks I would be good as the only pup or with some friends to play with and keep me busy. I would love to find my forever home where I get lots of attention and love, as I deserve every bit of it. :) Harley is a female German Shepherd/Border Collie mix puppy who is around 8 weeks old. Rescue Me ID: 15-04-16-00426DiNozzo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oh my goodness, we love this sweet puppy!! We wouldn't mind if his forever family took their sweet time getting to him because he's so perfect we hate to see him go! DiNozzo is one of the 9 lucky, fuzzy pups rescued earlier this month from the shelter and the whole litter is so thankful. He's very much an energetic young puppy with some young puppy habits: he chews, he nips, has accidents in the house and he'll cry in his kennel. (Trust us, that last part is much improved the past few days as he's now getting the hang of things.) But, he has other puppy habits too, like crawling into your lap to fall asleep, giving your bare toes puppy ... (Read More)kisses and breaking your heart with his beautiful chocolate brown eyes. He plays very well with our big shepherd and tolerates well the antics of our other foster pup, Gibbs. He's a little boy still, but he's getting bigger and nothing stops him! DiNozzo is just about 6 lbs and possibly around 8 weeks old. We all have our thoughts on what breed(s) he could possibly be, but who knows, and we don't care...either way, he will certainly capture your heart. We believe DiNozzo is a male Shepherd/Collie mix puppy that was born around February 1, 2015 and currently weighs about 5 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events.     CHIP is a beautiful small bi-coloured German Shepherd Dog that we saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 6th April 2015. She has a slight blue colouring to her left eye which makes her more unique. When I first brought CHIP back to the rescue she was really scared, it appeared she had not been around other dogs before. However, within a few hours of getting to know them and realizing that this is a safe place and the dogs all loving and friendly she was running around, playing and very happy. CHIP now settled has let her personality shine through, she is very loving and affectionate, she is playful, she is responsive and she is well ... (Read More)mannered. She does jump up every now and again, but I find that almost all the dogs do that here at the rescue as they are competing for attention and affection with all the other dogs. CHIP has a high energy level and she loves to run, chasing and playing with the other dogs, but she does know when to chill out and hang out near where I am. She gets on great with all the dogs of all sizes and we have small wire-haired terriers that she plays with too. CHIP will benefit from a family that is active that can give her ways to release her energy but to also engage her brain. She needs both mental and physical exercise and needs to be challenged on both. CHIP as mentioned is very responsive and will benefit from basic and advanced obedience with her family. This not only helps to strengthen bonds, but also allows both human and dog to learn each others body language and personalities. CHIP is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 1 April 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed around 49 pounds. CHIP is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $200 If you are interested in giving this beautiful girl her perfect forever home, our application process and form can be found on the website under the APPLICATION tab.     Hi, I'm Atia, another one of the 9 fluffy, lucky puppies saved recently. I am about 6 weeks old and possibly a Shepherd/Collie mix. I am smaller than my brother, Atticus, but working on being brave like him. Usually I am trailing right behind him chasing the big dogs or following behind my foster mom. Every now and then I get my courage up to play with the%A0big dogs, but I'm still a little scared of them if they run up to me too fast. I love to play and wrestle with my brother Atticus; he is teaching me to be big and brave. I love playing with toys and getting a chew. I also love to get snuggles and belly rubs. My foster mom is so nice and ... (Read More)gives me lots of attention. I'm getting bigger and braver everyday. I'm coming along with my potty training--hopefully I will have it down soon, but I'm a puppy so accidents are expected. If you want a fuzzy lovey dog, then I am the dog for you! We think Atia and her siblings were born around February 14, 2015 and weigh around 4-6 pounds. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vaccinated. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 5533 Weslayan St. in the Weslayan Plaza Shopping Center Houston, TX 77005 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue.     Carla is approx 3 yrs old. Maybe 40/45 lbs. Shepard mix. Very timid to start. Unsure about men until she trusts them. She has come a very long way at my house. She hadn't done well at other fosters due to her fears. Children terrify her. When she first came to me we put her crate in the living room so she could get used to our sounds and smells. I had to coax her out to go potty. Every night I crawled in that kennel, held her, whispered and prayed in her ear until she would relax in my lap.     Our two dogs, Weasel (male, 55 lbs) and Bonnie Anne (female, 50lbs), need a new home. We are sadly not able to provide them with the kind of home they deserve at the moment. These two come from the same litter and have spent every day of their lives together, so ideally they would go to the same home. Both are a year old. Weasel is a very loyal dog who will stay by your side and loves to fetch. Bonnie Anne is adventurous and high spirited. They are almost entirely outside dogs, but they are crate trained. We just want to find a loving good home for these two, so no cost is involved with taking these two home. Both dogs have been trained on a bark collar and e-fence collar. If you would like to continue to use them, we will include all four collars and the wiring for free. Optional: We built a sturdy dog house for each dog and I'm asking $50 for each, if you're interested. We just really want to find these pups a great family! Thank you! (Less)

He loves to ride in the car, he has been great at the groomers, and naturally everyone fell in love with him - his injury just draws people to him and he just laps up all the love and affection. He currently lives with a 14 year old cat that torments him, he plays with her for a while, but when she starts to let him know she is boss, he leaves her alone and finds something else to do. His owner does however, recommend a home with no cats! SHERLOCK still has a puppy personality and although he has had some basic training it would benefit him and his new family to go back to basics so that they can work and learn together, setting boundaries and guidelines and learning each others expectations, temperaments and personalities. Whilst at the rescue SHERLOCK lived amongst 50 other dogs of all ages and sizes and did great, even when he was recovering from his injury. He loves humans and really would prefer to hang out with his human than play with the dogs. With correct training and guidance I believe he would make an outstanding emotional support/therapy dog. SHERLOCK is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm negative, micro-chipped and is used to living in a home with young children visiting. He is an adult male and so weighs around 65-75 pounds. He has a date of birth of around 30 September 2013. SHERLOCK is a very able dog and can keep up playing and having fun with other dogs. SHERLOCK is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy, please go to our websites under the APPLICATION tab and complete then submit the application. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

AC#11 Glimmer is an adorable little corgi mix that was taken in by our local animal control with her sister. Their owner had moved and left them behind at their rental property. Both of their collars were also embedding into their necks because the owner never took the time to make them bigger as these sweet girls grew. They are the sweetest but they are leery of people at first which is understandable. They want to come up to you so bad and can hardly contain their excitement but it will take a patient new owner to show them that love they want so badly. The girls are $75 each to adopt which includes the spay a a rabies vaccination at our ... (Read More)local vet. They are both needing to find homes quickly before our animal control gets full again.     While I was at the shelter, I squeezed through the bars and escaped my cage. I ran right into the lady from K-9 Angels Rescue. She thought I was so cute and gutsy, that she brought me home. It's a good thing she did, because I got a bad upper respiratory cough, I am well now and ready to be adopted. I love to cuddle, and I love to play--I'm a puppy! My fur is brindle and black and super soft. My foster mommy says that makes me hard to adopt, even though she thinks I'm beautiful. I rarely have accidents in the house. Every time she takes me outside, I do what I'm supposed to do. I am doing great with kennel training and sleep through the ... (Read More)night. I'm a good boy, and I want to have a forever home soon. I'm 14 weeks old. I think I'll grow up to be about 25 lbs. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-27-00324GENEVA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

GENEVA was saved with her best buddy ALLEGRA from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 15th March 2015. Both girls had been surrendered by their owner and no reason was given. GENEVA did have some scratches on her face and it appears that although she is not an aggressive dog, she does defend ALLEGRA and I think sometimes with ALLEGRA being very puppy if a dog growls at her to stop, GENEVA steps in. As I say she is not aggressive, I would say more protective and then responds if another dog challenges her. She currently lives with over 50 dogs and there have not been any problems here, they scratches were from prior to her coming to the ... (Read More)rescue. GENEVA is very affectionate when she has learnt she can trust you, she likes to stay near ALLEGRA, but does play with the other dogs, but she seems to be always keeping an eye on ALLEGRA who often runs back to her for re-assurance. I think of these two girls as two sisters who have had to grow up and survive on their own, although they have been given the same age, I believe GENEVA to be a little older and the more responsible out of the two. GENEVA would benefit from a family that is able to adopt her and ALLEGRA as they are very close and this is what we are predominantly looking for - she would need a family that understands the need of the German Shepherd Dog and the requirement for not just physical but also mental exercise. She is definitely going to need basic and advanced training and it would be best for the family to do this as it not only creates a stronger bond, but it sets boundaries and expectations and enables both dog and human to learn more about each others personalities, temperaments and body language. GENEVA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. ALLEGRA has been given an estimated birth date of 12 July 2014 and at the time of rescue weighed around 47 pounds GENEVA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450, we are looking to adopt both her and ALLEGRA together and so will offer a reduced adoption fee for both girls. ALLEGRA likes to be where GENEVA is and follows her lead, she gains her confidence from GENEVA who is in the pictures with her. ALLEGRA is good with dogs of all sizes, we do have terriers and pups in the rescue and although at times she is a little rough, she is so without realizing and as soon as she hears that yelp, she backs off and calms down a little, or goes to find someone else to play.     Hi, my name is Frannie! I am a young, energetic girl with a lot of love to give. The vet thinks I am about 1 year old Shepherd mix and weigh about 40 pounds. Before coming to DFW Pup Patrol, I had a very difficult life. I was found as a stray with my friend and fellow foster sister, Annie. We were both in really bad shape and taken to the local animal shelter and were in major danger of being euthanized. I was malnourished, had severe allergies which made me lose a lot of my hair and I had an eye infection. The vet says my teeth indicate that I probably lived on a chain outside. Luckily for me, DFW Pup Patrol took me in and I'm now ... (Read More)one healthy and happy dog. I am an active dog. I love to play fetch, run, chew on bones, and go on walks with my foster parents. I am crate trained and almost potty trained. I am shy at first, but love people. It is uncertain how I would do with young kids. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. The link to this form can be found on the home page of our website, http://dfwpuppatrol.com. It can be submitted via email to info@dfwpuppatrol.com or faxed to 972-767-4849.     SCOUT is a typical young, very energetic, eager to learn, crazy puppy like, did I mention energetic young boy. SCOUT is great with all of the dogs in the rescue, he is extremely playful and fun, he is responsive and loves to play and chase the dogs of all ages and sizes. We have terriers in the rescue currently and at times he is a little rough, when he hears a yelp he does back off and realize he was too excitable. We do NOT have cats or other animals in the rescue and so are unable to comment on how he would act around them. Several times a day and during the evening I walk around the garden and the dogs all follow - kind of like a ... He is definitely going to need basic and advanced training and it would be best for the family to do this as it not only creates a stronger bond, but it sets boundaries and expectations and enables both dog and human to learn more about each others personalities, temperaments and body language. German Shepherd    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

WADE was saved fro San Antonio Animal Care Services on 14 March 2015. She was all alone and scared in her kennel. WADE was very shy and fearful when she first came to rescue, but within a couple of days had started spending more time with the other dogs and then a few more days and it was like she had been with them since she had been born. Her confidence has grown and at any sound outside that she is unsure of she is running out barking to let everyone know she is coming to see what is going on - although of course she has a lot of other dogs at her side. WADE loves to play with the other dogs and she can play with the pups, the terriers or ... (Read More)the adult German Shepherds equally and have as much fun with all of them. She likes her toys and is in that chewing phase of her life. WADE is extremely affectionate and loves to come up on the bed, she will cuddle for a short time, but then finds her own space and sprawls out - clearly preparing for taking control of the bed when she is an adult. WADE will benefit from an active family that is willing to take their dog to lots of new places, engage her in lots of different things and provide lots of stimulation that will satisfy her both physically and mentally. WADE has not been around children, but I feel she would absolutely adore then and provided that they respect her and understand she is not their toy and she too needs her own space, she would be a child/rens best friend for life. WADE like all dogs will benefit from some basic and advanced training with his family, this not only helps to strengthen bonds, but allows both human and dog to learn each others personality and body language which is a vital thing in dog ownership. WADE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, and micro-chipped. She will need to be heart-worm tested when she is around 9 months old, she has however, been on prevention since her time at the rescue.     FEATHER was saved fro San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18 March 2015. She was a lot smaller than her picture had portrayed but very sweet. FEATHER was quite shy initially but after spending time with me and the dogs she soon loosened up and started to relax. FEATHER is very agile and can at times be a counter-top-surfer. She can jump up on a high bed and lie down without you even noticing. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00567TIMBER (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

TIMBER was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18th March 2015. He was in a bad way, very emaciated, lots of skin loss, sores on his body, he had tested positive for demodex mange and skin infections and also positive for heart-worm disease. I brought him into rescue and he quickly settled in, he found his favourite spot to lie in - not directly in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the pack, but close enough to still be a part of it. He was scheduled a vets appointment, where blood panels and chemistry panels were run and a treatment schedule for his infected skin and mange. His blood and chemistry results came back good ... (Read More)considering his condition, just showing up infection, which was clear just by looking at him. Being fed a good diet, antibiotics, fish oil and ivermectin for his mange, TIMBER is making a great recovery, he still has patches of hair loss which may never grow back, or it might take a blow out of his coat and then start to grow with the new coat, we just don't know. But over-all he is looking and acting much better. TIMBER in general has a great personality, he is laid back, he likes to hang out, but he also comes on our pack-walks around the garden. He is very affectionate and it is clear he has had little to no love or affection throughout his life. He tolerates the smaller dogs and pups climbing on him and he lets them snuggle up and share his bed. He has never shown any signs of aggression or irritation, if he is getting fed up with something he will generally just get up and move. TIMBER would benefit from a family that is still somewhat active in that they go on nice walks so that he can still take in the sights, sounds and smells of the world, this also will help to keep his brain active and keep him a happier boy. TIMBER is happy to chill out or to join in what you are doing. He is aged around 6 years old, which puts him in the category of a senior dog, but by no means is he ready to roll over and watch the world pass him by. TIMBER would benefit from annual x-rays and blood-panels to keep on-top of his health and to catch any sign of disease or illness in the early stages so as to be able to treat it sooner. As mentioned his blood and chemistry came back good so at the moment he has no concerns with his organs. TIMBER is a great boy and would love to have a loving family of his own. I feel he would be great with children as long as they respected he is not their toy and that he too needs his own time and space, but I know he would love them unconditionally and be their best friend. TIMBER is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, micro-chipped. He will be receiving heart-worm treatment in the middle of May but we are happy to process and pre-adopt him to the most wonderful family so that as soon as he is ready he can start his new life with a worm-free heart that is just over-flowing with love. TIMBER is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. If you have a heart big enough to let this boy in, please go to our application page on our website and complete and submit the application. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00164SINEAD (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SINEAD was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services, due to her condition she was scheduled to be killed. Lucky for her we managed to save her. As you can see from the photo's this poor girl is extremely emaciated and has been diagnosed with demodex mange which she is receiving treatment and antibiotics for her skin condition. SINEAD when she first came to rescue was very vocal with the other dogs and would growl (not aggressively) if they came near. At first I thought she didn't want them near her, which is common when dogs have been so emaciated as they can be sore to touch or have very swollen feet. However, it soon became apparent ... (Read More)that she didn't want them to come near me - she was claiming me- which again is very common for neglected and abused dogs. She is learning to share and realize that she will get lots of love and affection, but she just has to wait her turn. Although I don't do any kind of training here at the rescue, SINEAD is very responsive and I believe will be very quick to learn and train. She has been estimated as around 3 years but her behaviour is that of a much younger dog. She is very happy and has a lot of playfulness in her. SINEAD obviously has some healing to do before she is ready to go to her new perfect forever home, however, we are happy to take applications and process her adoption so that when she is well enough she can start her new wonderful life. SINEAD will benefit from a family that is active and has time to spend with her guiding and training her to lay down expectations. It is best for the family to train her in basic and advanced obedience as this not only helps bonding, but it also allows both dog and human to learn more about each others' personaliites and body language which is very important. She will need someone who understands her need for MENTAL and physical exercise and understand that throwing a ball in the back- yard is not enough to give her what she needs. She will love to go places to see, smell and hear all the different things going on in the world. SINEAD is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Our application process and form can be found on our website under the APPLICATION tab. More photo's can be found by clicking her photo under the GSD/Terrier tab. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

Over time with the healing he is venturing out a lot more and enjoys being outside with the other dogs, although still edging ... (Read More)slightly on the side of caution and not yet getting involved with the rambunctious playing around. CHUPI does great in the car and all transporters fell in love with him. He is a large boy and still has a good amount of weight to gain, but he is very gentlye with it. CHUPI is fine amongst the other dogs and has shared his crate with a small Norwich/Yorkshire Terrier mix and was happy to have her snuggle up to him. We do NOT have cats in the rescue so are unable to say how he is with cats. CHUPI doesn't have any training but he is very laid back and loving and I believe he would learn very quickly. CHUPI needs a family that understands both the mental and physical needs of the German Shepherd Dog and are able to provide him with lots of exercise, which is a lot more than just throwing a ball in the back-yard, he needs lots of stimulation, and going to different places and letting him take in the sights, sounds and smells the world has is a great way to do this, along training! CHUPI does need a family that is able to spend time and work with him on basic and advanced training. This not only helps form a stronger bond, but also allows boundaries and expectations to be set and for both human and dog to learn each others body language and personalities. CHUPI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 February 2012 and at the time of rescue weighed 75.4 pounds. CHUPI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.     Jack is an adorable Rottweiler/GSD mix. He is such a good boy. My neighbor found him on a road in East Tx dodging and running from a truck that was trying to run him over. I can't imagine why anyone would do that to him. He is so sweet and tries to please all of the time. He is only a pup but has never had an accident in my house. He can sit, shake and is learning stay and down. He's a fast learner. He loves to be in the yard and is starting to enjoy riding in the car.     Bear is a 2 year old, 55lb. German Shepherd mix. He is fixed and up to date on all shots. He was found on the streets in Tomball, TX and believed to have been living on his own for quite a long time. He is friendly with most dogs, but can occassionally become defensive around certain dogs. He will growl and snarl, but so far has never struck to bite another dog. His nose was bloody and scarred when found, so we believe he had gotten into fights with other dogs. He is great with kids 5 and up. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-15-00412SKYLAR (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red inflammed skin that is being treated and healing well. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no ... (Read More)way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and microchipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease which the rescue will be getting treated around the end of February. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 We will be happy to process and approve adoptors before his heartworm treatment so as soon as he is fully healthy he can go on to start his new life. Our adoption process and fee is on our website under the APPLICATION tab. More photo's can be found by clicking on his photo under the GSD tab. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00247SAYDEE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SAYDEE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She had been picked up by animal control after being hit and dragged by a car causing her cuts and a bruised lung. SAYDEE was initially quite since at the rescue which is understandable, she came having a bruised lung and staples in her muzzle. However, since her injuries healed and she had her heart-worm treatment she has become much more social. Although she is not the kind of GSD that likes to go chasing around with the other dogs, she does play with them and is often found lying on the porch watching them and their craziness. SAYDEE is very affectionate and loves ... (Read More)to come up and walk around the garden with me, or lay as close to wherever I am sitting. She is not imposing and doesn't force herself upon you, rather waits for her turn or to catch your eye and then lures you over to her. SAYDEE will be suitable for a relatively active family, she is 3 years old, which is still young for a German Shepherd Dog in terms of energy. SAYDEE will need a family that understands the German Shepherd intelligence and has the time and willingness to spend with her - giving her that much needed stimulation, with both mental and physical exercise. SAYDEE will benefit from basic and advanced training with her new family in order to show her boundaries and expectations, training also helps bond and allows both German Shepherd and human to learn each others body language which is very important. SAYDEE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. SAYDEE was heart-worm positive, but received treatment on 17/18 March 2015 and has had no problems on her recovery at all. SAYDEE has an estimated date of birth of 1 February 2012 and at the time of rescue weighed 72.20 pounds. SAYDEE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Our application process and form can be found on our website under the Application tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00223CLARICE - 4100 (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. She is very affectionate and gentle. CLARICE is great with other dogs and is happy to sit back and watch the world go by. CLARICE is a young girl who would benefit from an active family. Someone who understands the needs of this intelligent breed, who understands that they need lots of stimulation and both mental and ... (Read More)physical exercise. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. CLARICE is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train and would absolutely benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family so that boundaries and expectations can be set, and through the training, bonding and understanding of each others body-language can be gained. CLARICE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested NEGATIVE and mirco-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 30th June 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 66 pounds. CLARICE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $100 Our application process and form can be found under the application tab. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00498LOBO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

LOBO was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 31st January 2015. He had been at the shelter twice before but this time he was an owner surrender. The reason the family gave was because he kept escaping. His original owner found him.in a ditch when he was a puppy. LOBO does have a front claw foot, which was apparently a birth defect, where his toes are separated. He used the claw to climb the chain link fence. He went back home then a couple months later his owner had health issues and his wife brought took him to the shelter. He was adopted from the shelter again and then got out from that family and was picked up by Animal Control. He ... (Read More)is now safe in rescue and we will be sure to find him a perfect family that has time to spend with him and give him no reason to even want to climb a fence. LOBO is a very friendly boy, he is very active and jumps very high from a standing position, so it is easy to see that he can escape. LOBO is clealry an active boy and although at times he limps/hobbles on his front leg, his foot causes him no concern and there is no reason for any kind of surgery. LOBO needs an active family that will not just leave him outside to get up to mischief and find a way of escaping, he needs a family that will be an integral part of his life, who will take him places and spend lots of fun quality time with him. I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activities such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. LOBO does need basic training and would benefit from a family who is willing to take the time to educate and train with him, a great way to bond and set boundaries and for each other to learn body language, voice tone and over-all personalities. LOBO does jump up a lot at the moment so families with small children would have to be cautious of this and make his jumping up a priority to work on, he is very responsive and I do not see it taking very long with the correct training and guidance. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment as to how he is with cats. LOBO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and is mirco-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2012 and currently weighs (January 2015) around 55 pounds. LOBO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Our application process and form can be found under the application tab. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00345KODA (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

KODA was saved from BARC shelter in Houston. He was an owner surrender because they couldn't care for him and he kept escaping. KODA is a great boy, he is responsive and friendly. He is well mannered and only jumps up occasionally and that is more when he see's the other dogs doing it. Since being at the rescue KODA has never tried to escape, he has never been seen to be looking for possible escape routes and is very content. KODA is great with other dogs, although he is not fearful of letting them know he wants to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue and so we are unable to say how he is with cats. His owners said he kept escaping, ... (Read More)but that is most likely as he was being left with nothing to occupy his mind and no way to expel his energy. KODA is very affectionate and loves to be as close as he can and of course loves to have his ears and belly scratched. KODA, as with all dogs will benefit with some training from his new family so that boundaries and expectations can be laid down and to give both time to bond and learn each others ways and body language. KODA as mentioned is very responsive and with a family that understands German Shepherds mental and physical needs would be a pleasure to train with. KODA is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease, however, he received treatment on 3rd/4th February and made a great recovery with no concerns. KODA has a date of birth of approximately January 2013 and weighs around 75-80 pounds. KODA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00490Ellie (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My brother recently passed away and we need to find a home for his large breed dog, a Shepherd mix who is roughly 8 years old. She is currently staying at the Montgomery Animal Hospital in Montgomery, Texas. We need to find placement for her ASAP. She is up to date on all of her shots, and she has been spayed. My brother lived in Colorado for 24 years and has had Ellie for ...about 8 years. I do not know where he got her but she is a large dog that was very attached to him. Why Ellie needs a new home - She was my brother's dog for many years until he passed away on 12/21/14 and she does not appear to do well around the family's other ... (Read More)smaller household pets. However, prior to my brother's divorce in 2012, Ellie did live with 3 other dogs of medium size and they all got along. The other dogs accepted Ellie as the alpha dog. Ellie has been my brother's dog for years and although she will allow adults to handle her, she is very skittish when he was not around. Ellie has never been around smaller children on a long-term basis. She does appear very good around my nieces and nephews ages 5 to 12, however, I have only observed this recently and not for long periods of time. It would be better for Ellie to be with someone who was at home most of the day. Ellie is used to being an indoor dog. Please call Vicky Burg with any questions at 936-718-1685 or by email: vickyburg@consolidated.net. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. PUPPIES: Puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog/puppy and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs/puppies to be shipped.
