Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00164Charlotte (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Charlotte needs a home! This is what her temporary caretaker said about her: Charlotte really is a good dog. She does great at the dog park, likes to swim and plays well with my parent's dog. She walks well on a leash and goes running with me. She also plays fetch well. She is curious and is silly because she has a doll that she keeps and won't chew on. She is a fast learner. We taught her to sit and wait for her food really fast. Charlotte is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and heartworm prevention. She absolutely loves other dogs. Let us know if you would like to meet this playful girl. Since she is young and exuberant, a ... (Read More)home with no kids or much older kids would be best. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00154SHERLOCK (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SHERLOCK was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services, a high kill shelter, with a fractured pelvis and paralyzed front leg. With vet care, treatment and lots of TLC by me and the GaDaH pack, SHERLOCK made an amazing recovery. His pelvis fracture healed and he regained movement in his front leg. However, his leg does not function normally, he does use it for balance and support and playing, but he is not able to walk on it like a 4 legged dog. He has seen several vets and all agree that there is no need to amputate it. He would benefit from a family that can take him swimming just to help the muscle in his leg as it is not as strong as ... (Read More)his other leg, due to his leg not being used as much. SHERLOCK was adopted out to a lovely family in OKLAHOMA, near TULSA, however, sadly due to unforeseen personal circumstances they are no longer able to keep him. SHERLOCK has an amazing personality that everyone loves, considering he has suffered as he has, he has the biggest love of life. He loves to ride in the car, he has been great at the groomers, and naturally everyone fell in love with him - his injury just draws people to him and he just laps up all the love and affection. He currently lives with a 14 year old cat that torments him, he plays with her for a while, but when she starts to let him know she is boss, he leaves her alone and finds something else to do. His owner does however, recommend a home with no cats! SHERLOCK still has a puppy personality and although he has had some basic training it would benefit him and his new family to go back to basics so that they can work and learn together, setting boundaries and guidelines and learning each others expectations, temperaments and personalities. Whilst at the rescue SHERLOCK lived amongst 50 other dogs of all ages and sizes and did great, even when he was recovering from his injury. He loves humans and really would prefer to hang out with his human than play with the dogs. With correct training and guidance I believe he would make an outstanding emotional support/therapy dog. SHERLOCK is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm negative, micro-chipped and is used to living in a home with young children visiting. He is an adult male and so weighs around 65-75 pounds. He has a date of birth of around 30 September 2013. SHERLOCK is a very able dog and can keep up playing and having fun with other dogs. SHERLOCK is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy, please go to our websites under the APPLICATION tab and complete then submit the application. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00012Mellie (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mellie is the black spunky sister to Margot. She is a 4 month old Shepherd/Lab mix. At the adoption center she was crouched in the corner terrified to move but quickly blossomed when arriving to a home with wide open spaces. She is fun, curious and ready for play. She loves dogs (big and small) and people (big and small). She is interested in chickens and our cats but not in a mean spirited way. Mellie is not a barker but will give out a 'woof' when startled or sees something unfamiliar approach. She is sleeping well in her crate and working on potty training. Based on her obedient nature, she should learn fairly quickly. She is also easy to ... (Read More)correct with a quick 'off' with the 4 month old jumpy stage. She likes chew toys and sticks and shows some interest in retrieving. Mellie will do well in any home environment especially one that allows her to be free. Adoption applications are being accepted now - fill it out from http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html We believe Mellie was born around November 1, 2014 and is about 15 pounds. PUPPIES: Young puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vaccinated. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered.     While I was at the shelter, I squeezed through the bars and escaped my cage. I ran right into the lady from K-9 Angels Rescue. She thought I was so cute and gutsy, that she brought me home. It's a good thing she did, because I got a bad upper respiratory cough, I am well now and ready to be adopted. I love to cuddle, and I love to play--I'm a puppy! Rescue Me ID: 15-03-27-00324GENEVA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

GENEVA was saved with her best buddy ALLEGRA from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 15th March 2015. Both girls had been surrendered by their owner and no reason was given. GENEVA did have some scratches on her face and it appears that although she is not an aggressive dog, she does defend ALLEGRA and I think sometimes with ALLEGRA being very puppy if a dog growls at her to stop, GENEVA steps in. As I say she is not aggressive, I would say more protective and then responds if another dog challenges her. She currently lives with over 50 dogs and there have not been any problems here, they scratches were from prior to her coming to the ... (Read More)rescue. GENEVA is very affectionate when she has learnt she can trust you, she likes to stay near ALLEGRA, but does play with the other dogs, but she seems to be always keeping an eye on ALLEGRA who often runs back to her for re-assurance. I think of these two girls as two sisters who have had to grow up and survive on their own, although they have been given the same age, I believe GENEVA to be a little older and the more responsible out of the two. GENEVA would benefit from a family that is able to adopt her and ALLEGRA as they are very close and this is what we are predominantly looking for - she would need a family that understands the need of the German Shepherd Dog and the requirement for not just physical but also mental exercise. She is definitely going to need basic and advanced training and it would be best for the family to do this as it not only creates a stronger bond, but it sets boundaries and expectations and enables both dog and human to learn more about each others personalities, temperaments and body language. GENEVA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. ALLEGRA has been given an estimated birth date of 12 July 2014 and at the time of rescue weighed around 47 pounds GENEVA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450, we are looking to adopt both her and ALLEGRA together and so will offer a reduced adoption fee for both girls.     ALLEGRA was saved with her best buddy GENEVA from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 15th March 2015. Both girls had been surrendered by their owner and no reason was given. ALLEGRA is quite thin and has a lot of weight to gain, she can be shy but soon comes round when she knows she is going to get some loving and fussed over. ALLEGRA likes to be where GENEVA is and follows her lead, she gains her confidence from GENEVA who is in the pictures with her. ALLEGRA is a beautiful young girl who as she grows with a loving family her confidence will grow with her. She is full of life and extremely playful and puppy-like. She stays close by GENEVA, ... (Read More)but she does like to run, chase and play with the other dogs too. GENEVA watches out for her. ALLEGRA is good with dogs of all sizes, we do have terriers and pups in the rescue and although at times she is a little rough, she is so without realizing and as soon as she hears that yelp, she backs off and calms down a little, or goes to find someone else to play. ALLEGRA would benefit from a family that is able to adopt her and GENEVA as they are very close and this is what we are predominantly looking for - she would need a family that understands the need of the German Shepherd Dog and the requirement for not just physical but also mental exercise. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Frannie! I am a young, energetic girl with a lot of love to give. The vet thinks I am about 1 year old Shepherd mix and weigh about 40 pounds. Before coming to DFW Pup Patrol, I had a very difficult life. I was found as a stray with my friend and fellow foster sister, Annie. We were both in really bad shape and taken to the local animal shelter and were in major danger of being euthanized. I was malnourished, had severe allergies which made me lose a lot of my hair and I had an eye infection. The vet says my teeth indicate that I probably lived on a chain outside. Luckily for me, DFW Pup Patrol took me in and I'm now ... (Read More)one healthy and happy dog. I am an active dog. I love to play fetch, run, chew on bones, and go on walks with my foster parents. I am crate trained and almost potty trained. I am shy at first, but love people. I would do best in a home where I'm the only animal. It is uncertain how I would do with kids. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. The link to this form can be found on the home page of our website, http://dfwpuppatrol.com. It can be submitted via email to info@dfwpuppatrol.com or faxed to 972-767-4849. All of our adoptable pups have an adoption fee of $225, regardless of our expenses, and it includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test for pups 6 months and older, heartworm treatment if tested positive, deworming and/or fecal test, parasite treatment if tested positive, microchipping, any immediate known health issues, and pups 4 months and older are kept current on monthly heartworm prevention. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00598SCOUT (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SCOUT is a typical young, very energetic, eager to learn, crazy puppy like, did I mention energetic young boy. SCOUT is great with all of the dogs in the rescue, he is extremely playful and fun, he is responsive and loves to play and chase the dogs of all ages and sizes. We have terriers in the rescue currently and at times he is a little rough, when he hears a yelp he does back off and realize he was too excitable. We do NOT have cats or other animals in the rescue and so are unable to comment on how he would act around them. Several times a day and during the evening I walk around the garden and the dogs all follow - kind of like a ... (Read More)pack-walk, they really enjoy doing it and it is a natural thing for dogs to do, SCOUT although he is running back and forth chasing and playing - he does regularly walk by my side and keep looking up at me waiting for attention, instruction or praise. SCOUT would benefit from a family that understands the need of the German Shepherd Dog and the requirement for not just physical but also mental exercise. He is definitely going to need basic and advanced training and it would be best for the family to do this as it not only creates a stronger bond, but it sets boundaries and expectations and enables both dog and human to learn more about each others personalities, temperaments and body language. SCOUT is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. SCOUT has been given an estimated birth date of 10 March 2014 and at the time of rescue weighed around 31 pounds. SCOUT is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. If you are interested in adopting, our application process and form can be found on our website under the APPLICATION tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-23-00164SINEAD (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SINEAD was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services, due to her condition she was scheduled to be killed. Lucky for her we managed to save her. As you can see from the photo's this poor girl is extremely emaciated and has been diagnosed with demodex mange which she is receiving treatment and antibiotics for her skin condition. SINEAD when she first came to rescue was very vocal with the other dogs and would growl (not aggressively) if they came near. At first I thought she didn't want them near her, which is common when dogs have been so emaciated as they can be sore to touch or have very swollen feet. However, it soon became apparent ... (Read More)that she didn't want them to come near me - she was claiming me- which again is very common for neglected and abused dogs. She is learning to share and realize that she will get lots of love and affection, but she just has to wait her turn. Although I don't do any kind of training here at the rescue, SINEAD is very responsive and I believe will be very quick to learn and train. She has been estimated as around 3 years but her behaviour is that of a much younger dog. She is very happy and has a lot of playfulness in her. SINEAD obviously has some healing to do before she is ready to go to her new perfect forever home, however, we are happy to take applications and process her adoption so that when she is well enough she can start her new wonderful life. SINEAD will benefit from a family that is active and has time to spend with her guiding and training her to lay down expectations. It is best for the family to train her in basic and advanced obedience as this not only helps bonding, but it also allows both dog and human to learn more about each others' personaliites and body language which is very important. She will need someone who understands her need for MENTAL and physical exercise and understand that throwing a ball in the back- yard is not enough to give her what she needs. She will love to go places to see, smell and hear all the different things going on in the world. SINEAD is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Our application process and form can be found on our website under the APPLICATION tab. I also have to show them what a crate is. It is a great place to go. You can have quiet time by your self and get your thoughts together. I love stuffed animals but my foster mom won't give me any because she says I make it snow in the back yard when I get one. I thought they were made for taking ... (Read More)apart. That's ok I will take a bone any time. I would do great with kids and probably cats but I haven't met any yet. Won't you consider me for your family. I promise I will love you forever. (Less)

Solid black German Shepard. She is a wonderful guard dog and great with people once introduced. Very protective over family members. She is very intelligent and a great addition to the family. She is an outdoor dog, but was previously an indoor dog with previous owner. I couldnt have her inside because I am allergic to dogs and hair when I have to cohabitate with them. The only reason I am giving her up is because my landlord doesn't allow big dogs. She includes a igloo doghouse and a small feeder. Just want a good home for her!

We are unfortunately needing to re home our dog. Pack is great but are not adjusting well to this baby thing, and with another on the way we are worried it will only get worse. He is however good with older kids. He is a dogs that thrives on attention, walks and any opportunity to be on the furniture (only if invited of course) :). German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

PANTHA was saved from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 24th February 2015. I had been up during the early hours catching up on paperwork and decided to send the rescue hold on her before I went to bed. It is very lucky that I did as this is the response I got from the shelter first thing the following morning: A1298048 was scheduled to be PTS today but I have placed a hold for your group. Below are notes from our behaviorist on the dog. We are full to capacity in our evaluation building so if possible to pick up today by 530pm it will be appreciated. Notes from Behaviorist at BARC Animal Shelter, Houston - 22 February 2015 This dog is very fearful, but likes people and dogs. She may be sound-sensitive, or just extremely stressed at BARC. She does not cooperate with having a leash put on, but can be conditioned into it quickly. She eats chicken in her kennel, but once out does not. She will walk with me on a leash, but does not want to go through doors - but can be coaxed. She does not want to go outside, mostly wants to go back to her kennel - but will calm and explore after some time out in the hall. She readily goes up to people and solicits affection, but she is too big and too scared to go to Adoptions - she has not been defensive yet, but she is too close to defense to put in adoptions with all the excitement there. Since being at the rescue PANTHA has been a different dog than has been described at the shelter, which is quite common since German Shepherd Dogs do not do well in shelter environments. PANTHA is comfortable with the other dogs of all ages and sizes here at the rescue. She is extremely affectionate and likes to be close by my side whenever she can - although that is true for all the other German Shepherd Dogs we have in rescue also. PANTHA eats with the other dogs, she sleeps with the other dogs and has not shown any fear or aggression on any level. PANTHA is very gentle and well mannered, she doesn't jump up, she walks nicely on a leash. All dogs benefit from basic and advanced obedience training with their new families. This not only helps with bonding, but sets boundaries and expectations. It also allows human and dog to learn each others body languages and personalities which is key to a happy life together. We do not have cats in the rescue so we cannot comment on how she will act around them. Although she hasn't been around small children here at the rescue, I do not see any problems due to her gentle demeanor, but this will of course depend on how the children respect and treat her. PANTHA will benefit from a family that is active and understands the mental and physical needs of the German Shepherd Dog. Who have the time to take her to different places so she can explore and take in the sights, smells and sounds of the world. PANTHA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and heart-worm tested negative. She has a date of birth of approximately 23rd February 2012 and at the time or rescue weighed 70 pounds. PANTHA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $350 Our adoption process and application can be found on our website under the APPLICATION tab. German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

CHUPI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services on 28th February 2015. CHUPI had been suffering from Demodex mange and skin infections. His feet were badly swollen and infected causing them to bleed when he walked. He was prescribed antibiotics and has been making great recovery. When CHUPI first came to rescue he was cautious being around the other dogs but this was more out of worry he would get his feet trodden on and so he was happy to hang out in the XL crate in the bedroom, or lie beside where ever I was. Over time with the healing he is venturing out a lot more and enjoys being outside with the other dogs, although still edging ... (Read More)slightly on the side of caution and not yet getting involved with the rambunctious playing around. CHUPI does great in the car and all transporters fell in love with him. He is a large boy and still has a good amount of weight to gain, but he is very gentlye with it. CHUPI is fine amongst the other dogs and has shared his crate with a small Norwich/Yorkshire Terrier mix and was happy to have her snuggle up to him. We do NOT have cats in the rescue so are unable to say how he is with cats. CHUPI doesn't have any training but he is very laid back and loving and I believe he would learn very quickly. CHUPI needs a family that understands both the mental and physical needs of the German Shepherd Dog and are able to provide him with lots of exercise, which is a lot more than just throwing a ball in the back-yard, he needs lots of stimulation, and going to different places and letting him take in the sights, sounds and smells the world has is a great way to do this, along training! CHUPI does need a family that is able to spend time and work with him on basic and advanced training. This not only helps form a stronger bond, but also allows boundaries and expectations to be set and for both human and dog to learn each others body language and personalities. CHUPI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 February 2012 and at the time of rescue weighed 75.4 pounds. CHUPI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.     Bear is a 2 year old, 55lb. German Shepherd mix. He is fixed and up to date on all shots. He was found on the streets in Tomball, TX and believed to have been living on his own for quite a long time. He is friendly with most dogs, but can occassionally become defensive around certain dogs. He will growl and snarl, but so far has never struck to bite another dog. His nose was bloody and scarred when found, so we believe he had gotten into fights with other dogs. He is great with kids 5 and up. He likes to jump up and kiss your face, so older kids are recommended. He enjoys being taken out for short runs or long walks at least once a day and ...     TACO was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18th December 2014, with severe demodex mange and skin infections, his feet were very swollen and bleeding. TACO came to rescue and started treatment and over time he started to do really well. Initially he would stay in his crate that was in the bedroom, but that was more as he didn't want the other dogs to stand on his very sore feet. Over time and healing TACO started to socialize more with the rest of the dogs and the more he healed the more he played. On 17th February he was neutered, he still has a good amount of hair to grow, but it is coming along great. TACO is a very sweet, ... He loves playing with the other dogs, he is getting very active and would benefit from an active family who will be willing to take him on lots of adventures to different places. TACO will need basic and hopefully advanced training with his new family - this not only helps set down boundaries and expectations, but allows both dog and family learn each others personalities and body-language. TACO is going to be a big boy and will need plenty of exercise, both mental and physical. TACO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped.     Emma is the SWEETEST dog ever! I rescued her 3 years ago when she was 2 months old. The reason I would love to find her a home is because she doesn't get the attention that she deserves.     We had been feeding Luke out on the streets for over a year (and he had been living there for who knows how long before then). We were never able to find a foster to be able to pull him to safety. Then he went missing. We searched for him and found out animal control had picked him up and he was on their euthanasia list since he was heartworm positive and had a severe case of demodex mange. We put out an urgent plea and thankfully, a foster stepped forward! We were able to pull him from the shelter before he was euthanized and he went to the foster home to undergo treatment. He is now a happy, sweet boy! He came out of his shell quickly and ... (Read More)now has so much fun playing with his fur brother and loves to go to the dog park. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Update from foster mom! Ellis is a very lovable Dutch Shepard mix that is under 40 lbs and may not grow much more. She is a very loving puppy that wants to please her human!! It took less than an hour to teach her to sit when she approaches me for loving. (rather than jumping)! We are working on house breaking, leash and crate training. She loves to play and be loved on, but is OK to watch if you are busy. She loves antlers, bones and balls--- ( all toys) AND especially my two dogs. She is constantly asking them to play with her. Ellie (ID 15726) along with her sibling Bolt, was found tied up and abandoned at the Euless dog park. She ... (Read More)appears to be only about 12 weeks old, and a Dutch Shepherd mix. Ellie loves to play with balls, her brother Bolt, and anyone who will throw the ball. Ellie is very smart, and with a little love of patience will learn quickly. If you are looking for a puppy to train, love, and make part of your family, please make plans to meet Ellie. Contact foster mom Debi at Aaviatrix1@gmail.com or trinitygapclub@gmail.com (Less)

NEEDS FOREVER HOME!! Brutus was adopted out of a local animal shelter. The adopter decided he was 'too big' for his small dogs. But he isn't that big, 50lbs and on the shorter side. Brutus is a German Shepard mix breed boy. He is approx. 7 mos. old. He will grow to probably 60lbs. He is house trained. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

ARIELA was saved from Companion Animal Alliance, Baton Rouge, Louisianna. She was scheduled to be killed and we managed to arrange flights with Pilots n Paws to fly her to safety at the rescue in Devine, on 13th February 2015. ARIELA did have a skin condition where she had tested negative for sarcoptic mnage, but the vet wanted to treat her as a precaution. At the rescue ARIELA has been great, she is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is always smiling. She comes up to be fussed on, but is not demanding and imposing. She gets on great with the other dogs and has been happy to play with them all. ARIELA is hoping to find an active family ... (Read More)that will take her to lots of interesting places and let her take in the sights and smells the world has to offer. She would benefit from at least basic obedience, but hopefully advanced training also. This not only helps to laydown the boundaries and expectations, but also helps to build a bond and more of an understanding of personalities and body language. ARIELA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She did test positive for heart-worm disease but we are hoping to get her treated by the end of February 2015. ARIELA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Our application process and form can be found on our website under the application tab.     SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red inflammed skin that is being treated and healing well. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no ... (Read More)way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and microchipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease which the rescue will be getting treated around the end of February. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 We will be happy to process and approve adoptors before his heartworm treatment so as soon as he is fully healthy he can go on to start his new life. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-07-00247SAYDEE (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SAYDEE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She had been picked up by animal control after being hit and dragged by a car causing her cuts and a bruised lung. SAYDEE has been quite since at the rescue which is understandable, she came having a bruised lung and staples in her muzzle. SAYDEE is great with the other dogs, whilst not yet running around and being playful, I do feel that when she has healed completely she will be a lot of fun. We do not have cats at the rescue so cannot comment on her behaviour around cats. SAYDEE will be suitable for a relatively active family, she is 3 years old, which is still ... (Read More)young for a German Shepherd Dog in terms of energy. SAYDEE will need a family that understands the German Shepherd inteligence and has the time and willingness to spend with her - giving her that much needed stimulation, with both mental and physical exercise. SAYDEE will benefit from basic and advanced training with her new family in order to show her boundaries and expectations, training also helps bond and allows both German Shepherd and human to learn each others body language which is very important. SAYDEE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm positive, which will be treated before she goes to her new forever home, and she is mirco-chipped. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CLARICE was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 5th February 2015. She was an owner surrender for reasons I do not know. She had been in isolation recovering from several wounds, suspected to be bite wounds. CLARICE came to rescue and has been doing great, her wounds have healed and she is an all round happy girl. She is very affectionate and gentle. CLARICE is great with other dogs and is happy to sit back and watch the world go by. CLARICE is a young girl who would benefit from an active family. Someone who understands the needs of this intelligent breed, who understands that they need lots of stimulation and both mental and ... (Read More)physical exercise. If they are left alone for long periods they get bored and boredom can and will turn into destructive behaviour. CLARICE is very responsive and I believe would be very easy to train and would absolutely benefit from some basic and advanced training with her new family so that boundaries and expectations can be set, and through the training, bonding and understanding of each others body-language can be gained. CLARICE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested NEGATIVE and mirco-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 30th June 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 66 pounds. CLARICE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 Our application process and form can be found under the application tab. (Less)

Hi! My name is Mica, and I am a very healthy, loving, intelligent and playful German Shepherd Mix. I currently live in Spring, Texas, where my foster family rescued me from a family member who was not taking good care of me. They would love to keep me if they could, but they just have too much on the go to be able to offer me the time, attention and care I need. I'm a really good girl. I love kids and other dogs. I have a never met a cat, but would probably like them as well. I am quite energetic, and a big girl at 75 pounds. I'd love a forever home with a family with kids old enough to know better than to pull my tail. I would make a ... I will add plenty of love, joy, laughter and companionship to you and your family. All I need in return is someone to love me, give me their time, a bit of exercise and a safe, happy and healthy home. To offer me a home, please fill out my adoption application here: http://petprosservices.com/adopt/. There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee, and supplies will come with me. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00498LOBO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

LOBO was saved from Fort Worth Animal Services on 31st January 2015. He had been at the shelter twice before but this time he was an owner surrender. The reason the family gave was because he kept escaping. His original owner found him.in a ditch when he was a puppy. LOBO does have a front claw foot, which was apparently a birth defect, where his toes are separated. He used the claw to climb the chain link fence. He went back home then a couple months later his owner had health issues and his wife brought took him to the shelter. He was adopted from the shelter again and then got out from that family and was picked up by Animal Control. He ... (Read More)is now safe in rescue and we will be sure to find him a perfect family that has time to spend with him and give him no reason to even want to climb a fence. LOBO is a very friendly boy, he is very active and jumps very high from a standing position, so it is easy to see that he can escape. LOBO is clealry an active boy and although at times he limps/hobbles on his front leg, his foot causes him no concern and there is no reason for any kind of surgery. LOBO needs an active family that will not just leave him outside to get up to mischief and find a way of escaping, he needs a family that will be an integral part of his life, who will take him places and spend lots of fun quality time with him. I have no doubt that with his energy he would do great and thoroughly enjoy activities such as agility - he has a very high jump and clearly enjoys his energy. LOBO does need basic training and would benefit from a family who is willing to take the time to educate and train with him, a great way to bond and set boundaries and for each other to learn body language, voice tone and over-all personalities. LOBO does jump up a lot at the moment so families with small children would have to be cautious of this and make his jumping up a priority to work on, he is very responsive and I do not see it taking very long with the correct training and guidance. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment as to how he is with cats. LOBO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and is mirco-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 28 May 2012 and currently weighs (January 2015) around 55 pounds. LOBO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Our application process and form can be found under the application tab. (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

KODA was saved from BARC shelter in Houston. He was an owner surrender because they couldn't care for him and he kept escaping. KODA is a great boy, he is responsive and friendly. He is well mannered and only jumps up occasionally and that is more when he see's the other dogs doing it. KODA is great with other dogs, although he is not fearful of letting them know he wants to be left alone. We do not have cats in rescue and so we are unable to say how he is with cats. His owners said he kept escaping, but that is most likely as he was being left with nothing to occupy his mind and no way to expel his energy. KODA, as with all dogs will ... (Read More)benefit with some training from his new family so that boundaries and expectations can be laid down and to give both time to bond and learn each others ways and body language. KODA as mentioned is very responsive and with a family that understands German Shepherds mental and physical needs would be a pleasure to train with. KODA is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. KODA had tested positive for heart-worm disease, but received treatment on 2nd/3rd January 2015. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-31-00181AMMO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AMMO was saved from Dallas Animal Services with an injured leg. He was taken directly to our orthopedic surgery where x-rays showed an old injury of a broken front right leg. Surgery was performed the next day where the bones were re-aligned and a plate screwed to keep them in place. AMMO stayed at the vets for a week to be sure there was not any complications and the plate sets correctly as the bones start to heal. AMMO was brought to the rescue on 30th January and he has to have 3 weeks strict crate rest with minimal exercise to allow his leg to heal. He will be going for a check-up around 21st February and hopefully Dr. Deason ... (Read More)(orthopedic surgeon - Deason Animal Hospital) will then release him to be available for adoption. He will still have to have limited exercise and limited leash walks which will gradually increase over the next 4 weeks. Everyone that has met AMMO, from the shelter staff, the people that helped to transport him down from Dallas to Dr. Deason himself has commented on what a great dog he is. Dr. Deason was amazed at even though he was in considerable pain when he had him for examination, he was still very sweet. I asked for AMMO to have x-rays taken of his hips and Dr. Deason told me that he has a mild-moderate hip dysplasia on his right hip and his left him looks normal. I asked about doing an FHO and he told me that currently AMMO does not warrent FHO surgery, however, yearly x-rays will monitor any deterioration and it could be a consideration in a few years. (FHO surgery can cost around $800-$1,000). It is advised that AMMO be given joint and bone supplements for the rest of his life, which is recommended for GSDs of his age anyway. Dr. Deason also recommended that he have his teeth cleaned, this was not able to be done during surgery as any dental work should be done several months after any other surgery due to the high bacteria in the mouth. His teeth are good for a dog his age, but would benefit from a good clean. AMMO is a great dog, once his leg has healed he will be back to running around and playing and catching up on being able to release all that German Shepherd Dog Energy. He has a great temperament and is an all round happy dog. He is good with other dogs, although when eating in his crate does growl if another dogs comes close, so there could be a little bit of food protection that would need to be watched. He is, however, very responsive and I don't see this being a problem with the correct guidance and training. AMMO was neutered at the time of his leg surgery, he has his rabies and core vaccines, he is de-wormed, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. AMMO has an estimated date of birth of January 2010 and he weighs around 68-70 pounds. AMMO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00490Ellie (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My brother recently passed away and we need to find a home for his large breed dog, a Shepherd mix who is roughly 8 years old. She is currently staying at the Montgomery Animal Hospital in Montgomery, Texas. We need to find placement for her ASAP. She is up to date on all of her shots, and she has been spayed. My brother lived in Colorado for 24 years and has had Ellie for ...about 8 years. I do not know where he got her but she is a large dog that was very attached to him. Why Ellie needs a new home - She was my brother's dog for many years until he passed away on 12/21/14 and she does not appear to do well around the family's other ... (Read More)smaller household pets. However, prior to my brother's divorce in 2012, Ellie did live with 3 other dogs of medium size and they all got along. The other dogs accepted Ellie as the alpha dog. Ellie has been my brother's dog for years and although she will allow adults to handle her, she is very skittish when he was not around. Ellie has never been around smaller children on a long-term basis. She does appear very good around my nieces and nephews ages 5 to 12, however, I have only observed this recently and not for long periods of time. It would be better for Ellie to be with someone who was at home most of the day. Ellie is used to being an indoor dog. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-12-00528Samson (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Samson has had an interesting story so far- could you be the happy ending he's looking for? Living down the street from a SNIPSA foster, Samson was often roaming the neighborhood. He was able to jump the fence, and although his family loved him, they didn't pay much attention to him and rarely stopped him from wandering. After visiting Animal Care Services for the 4th time, they just weren't able to reclaim him. The SNIPSA foster who'd seen him so many times before offered to foster him until he found his new home. Now instead of just spending cold nights there, he was able to stay at his foster's house all the time. The dogs that he'd ... (Read More)walked with so many times before were now his foster siblings, and he can start looking for that forever home now! Samson is such a happy soul, he has never met a dog, cat, or person he didn't like. He's always interested in what's going on and has the curiosity of a young pup. Like most dogs, he will try to jump a fence or sometimes dig, especially if he's left out on his own for a long period of time, so he'll need a yard that has a tall fence and a family who likes to spend time with him- not too much to ask for! This vivacious older gentleman enjoys long walks and of course a nice couch to sleep on. He's house broken and does well in the crate as well. If you're looking for a handsome older man to escort you anywhere you'd please, take a look at Samson and fill out your application today! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Remus is a 50 pound lap dog in need of a family that has experience with guarding breeds. He is neutered, about 1 year old, potty trained, heartworm negative, on Advantage multi, and UTD on vaccines. He is very intelligent and affectionate! He does well with other dogs but may not do well with very dominant males. He has show aggression towards cats; I am unsure of how he would be with children. Remus was picked up as a stray and rescued on his euthanasia date by a kind woman. He was then sent to a foster and adopted out a couple weeks later. Unfortunately the new home can not keep him and so he has returned to foster care. Remus is a ... (Read More)great boy in need of a family and stability! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-04-00369HOLLY (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

HOLLY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services KILL Shelter. She had been hit by a car and had a suspected fractured pelvis. She was taken directly to Somerset Animal Clinic and x-rays confirmed the break, she was also incontinent and required her bladder to be expressed. After consultation with several vets and her progress whilst staying (2weeks) at Somerset Animal Clinic remarkable, it was decided that the fracture was self-healing and that FHO surgery (cutting off the hip ball joint since the hip was rubbing on the pelvic bone) was the way to go. She has already able to do her business again on her own. We took her to Deason ... (Read More)Animal Hospital and after further consultation and fresh x-rays taken, Dr. Deason believed that she did not need FHO surgery and that if she is kept with minimal movement, he believes she will continue to self-heal and make a complete recovery within 6-8 weeks (end of March 2015). SO - on 31st December after being in veterinary care for 2 weeks she came to rescue. HOLLY is staying in the treatment area, where I have put thick hay down to make the floor soft, there are a few other dogs there to keep her company and she can go to the small outside area as she pleases. Since being here at rescue she is doing great, she seems to enjoy having the other dogs around her. HOLLY is very affectionate and loves to cuddle and gives kisses. She is the kind of dog that will always be by your side. Due to her injuries she will not be a dog that will be going on marathon runs with you, but she will be back to running and playing and living a normal, happy life. HOLLY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has had blood panels run and her blood and chemical results have come back good. Her hips have no signs of dysplasia although she will need yearly x-rays to watch out for arthritis, which could or could not happen. A good joint supplement would be highly recommended for the rest of her life - which is really recommended for all German Shepherds as a support supplement. She weighs around 70 pounds and is approximately 2 years old. We are happy to accept and process applications and pre-adopt HOLLY until she is ready to start her new life with her new forever family. HOLLY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Our application and process can be found on our Website under the APPLICATION tab - www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Tossed over a fence and left without food or water, Ruthie and her friends Noah and Peanut were all just trying to get by. Stressed and scared they weren't exactly happy about being taken in to a new place. Along the way they'd lost much of their hair and we knew they would take a little time to get comfortable and healthy again. That time has passed and now these three are ready and waiting to find their new homes! The shyest of the group, Noah took a little longer than his friends to come out of his shell, but now that he's learned folks are awesome and give lots of affection and treats, he's warmed up. Although he won't necessarily crawl ... (Read More)into your lap, Noah will sit comfortably right next to or even on your feet. He loves to be scratched under the chin and will glad tilt his head up just for that. He does well with other dogs and is house broken and crate trained.
