 Abused/Neglected

I found this girl almost dead laying in the middle of the road in April. I immediately took her to the vet and had her tested for everything and got all her shots. She had almost no hair so I was worried about mange but she only had a yeast infection on her skin. Her blood test wasn't strong so I couldn't do the full blown heart worm treatment, but I have started her on heart guard and that will slowly kill them. With special food, multivitamins, chondroitin and glucosamine, and allergy pills she is healthy, almost 80 pounds (she was 60 when I found her), and she has lots of energy. The vet thinks she is at least 10, but I'm sure she is ... (Read More)older. She looks like she was in a cage her entire life and used as a puppy mill dog. She is very sweet and know many commands. I'm in the Army and I can't afford to keep her (I have 3 other dogs as well). I started her on a monthly medical plan with Banfield so I can do every test needed to keep her healthy. Please someone open your heart to this sweet girl!!! Thanks (Less)

Reggie was on the euthanasia list at Animal Care Services in San Antonio. He is a lab/sheperd mix and is approximately 8 mos old and 22 lbs. He will be a medium sized dog. I have been fostering Reggie for six weeks now and he is a wonderful dog. We think he was abused by a man before he came to our house. He is skittish of men and of new people but once he warms up to you, he is the sweetest guy who gives kisses and loves to cuddle and snuggle on the couch. Reggie will do best in a home with a resident dog who can show him the ropes and teach him how to be a dog and live in a house. Reggie loves other dogs and will play all day and ... (Read More)then nap. Reggie is house and crate trained. He is super smart and uses our doggie door to play outside and lie in the sun and do his business. Reggie would be a great agility dog as he loves to jump up and try to catch bugs and birds and flies off the patio. He is a wonderful dog but will need someone or a family who will be very patient with him and show him that not all people are bad. It will take Reggie a little while to warm up but once he does, he loves on you and will want to snuggle and cuddle all the time! (Less)

Meet Sawyer! He is a 5-7 year old gentleman who was rescued from a local shelter only to be abandoned in boarding. He's very friendly and loving to people and new dogs but is not sure whether he likes cats. Sawyer is a bit of a couch potato, but he's a great alarm system, and he'll be sure to bark if anything nefarious is going on around the neighborhood. Sawyer is not an incredibly active dog so he would be fine in a small-medium fenced yard or even an apartment with frequent walks. Sawyer is currently on slow-kill heart worm treatment. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-12-00679Alaraz (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Alaraz is a 7 month old Chinese Shar-Pei, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky Mix (we had him DNA-tested). He is good tempered, but somewhat submissive. We rescued him from a local shelter two months ago, where he was in danger of being euthanized. The shelter said that he had been abused by his previous owner. In the two months he has been on our home, Alaraz has gained 20 pounds, learned to walk on a leash, learned basic commands (sit, stay, down, etc.) has been house-broken and crate trained (just say 'Go to bed' and he happily gets in his crate). He has also gained a lot of confidence and has become playful with humans. ... (Read More)When we adopted him, he would lay down and avoid people. He's still reserved around new people, but opens up pretty quickly once my husband or I encourage him. Alaraz absolutely LOVES other dogs. We have not encountered any size or breed of canine that he does not want to play with. We have a cat in the house and he just ignores her. Alaraz loves playing with our bulldogs, running around the yard, going for walks, playing in water (we have a kiddie pool for him), chewing on bully sticks, and napping sporadically throughout the day. He also loves hugs. Alaraz is current on all of his vaccinations. He is approximately 70 pounds. Our veterinarian says he is very healthy, though he recommends continuing his socialization. We've had him groomed a couple times and each time we've been told his behavior was fantastic throughout the grooming. All in all, Alaraz is an amazing dog and we would LOVE to keep him as part of our family forever. Unfortunately, my husband just accepted an overseas assignment, so I must care for our dogs and cat alone. It breaks my heart knowing the best thing for Alaraz is to pass him to another loving, forever family that can give him the attention he deserves. We are looking for a forever home for Alaraz. He deserves a family with a large yard to run around in, at least one other dog to befriend, and a person who can dote on him and continue his socialization, so we will be selective about who adopts him. If you can give him the home he deserves, please contact us. Remember, Alaraz is still just a large puppy. He could be your new best friend for years and years to come. (Less)

Animal ID: 15469 VetBraxton (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Braxton- 15469 - After much debate about the breed of this beautiful dog, it was decided that he most resembles a red sable German Shepherd mix. His color is gorgeous red with white and red (freckles) on his lower legs and paws. Initially he was very shy and appeared depressed by being in the shelter. However, after getting out of the kennel, he enjoyed being petted and loved by all the GAP girls. He walked great on a leash, and went potty outside for a long time, so we are pretty sure he is potty trained. Braxton is very calm although he appears to only be around one to two years old. He never barked while patiently waiting his turn ... (Read More)to go out of the kennel, and was a perfect gentleman while getting photographed and vaccinated. Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Foxie is a 90% smooth collie with a touch of German Shephard. He was adopted as a playmate for our 8 year old Doberman. Our Doberman is a top alpha and Foxie turned out to be an alpha as he grew up. The dobie now cannot tolerate another dog who won't cowtow to her so she has attacked Foxie and now wants to kill him. He is a sweet loveable dog but won't let her push him around and is fighting back. We have broken up three fights and have to keep them separated, we concluded one dog has to go. We would prefer to keep Foxie but it will be hard to place an older dobie. Foxie needs someone who will spend some time with him, he loves to be ... (Read More)played with. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SHERLOCK was saved from San Antonio Animal Care services with a suspected fractured pelvis. He was taken to our vets and although no fracture he has pain around his groin / pelvic area, but also his front left leg is paralyzed. SHERLOCK stayed at the vets for a few days for assessment and came back to rescue for some further healing before an assessment of his front leg can be made. It is anticipated that it will need to be amputated. SHERLOCK is a stunning 1 year old Male German Shepherd, he will be neutered at the time of surgery, or if no surgery needed we will schedule him for neutering. He is heart-worm negative, has rabies, core ... (Read More)vaccines and is micro-chipped. SHERLOCK is more on the protective side at the moment, he is doing good with the other dogs, learning to trust them more coming near him, he is protective towards me, but learning he has to 'Share' me. Whatever SHERLOCKS outcome of his left leg he is going to make someone an absolutely fantastic companion, he will soon be running around, already within 24 hours of being at the rescue with the dogs he is walking / hobbling a LOT more, which is of course strengthening his rear end and healing his injury. SHERLOCK will be available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption donation of $350, although he will stay at rescue until all necessary surgeries have been performed we can process applications for interested families. Our application process and application form can be found on our website under the 'application' tab. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org GaDaH does allow out of state adoptions, however, we require the family to travel to San Antonio to meet and spend time with the dog before traveling home together as a perfect family. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-11-00346Beautiful 'Bella' (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Bella - German Shepherd Mix For Adoption - Dallas/Ft. Worth This wonderful girl is looking for a loving, forever home in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Bella is a healthy, spayed 7 year old German Shepherd/Doberman mix. She is up to date on her shots and very well behaved. She is a very sweet dog who loves children and other dogs as well. Bella is looking for an active couple or family. She does not want to be left home by herself, so there should be someone home most of the time to enjoy her company. She loves to go places, and is very well behaved, wherever she goes. To apply to adopt Bella, please fill out our adoption form ... (Read More)here:http://petprosservices.com/adopt/, or call Debbie at 214-447-0632 for more information. There is a $75 rehoming/adoption fee. Bella's Personality Bella is a wonderfully loyal (and petite!) German Shepherd/Doberman mix. She possesses a gentle confidence and thoroughly enjoys being close to her family. She loves water and the outdoors, and gracefully handles everything from routine walks to rugged hikes. She also loves being around people- kids included! - and will show her affection with many kisses. Bella's Current Home Environment Our home environment is very fun and loving. Bella lives in our home and has always been part of our family's daily rhythm. We have two young kids so there was plenty of fun to be had each day. Bella's Current Family: We are a family of four with two kids ages 2.5 and 9-months. Our family is very close and Bella has been with us through the arrival of both children. We often spend our weekends together and Bella is routinely in tow. We recently relocated across country and our current housing environment is not conducive to dogs. We are huge dog lovers and hope to rehome Bella with another family that will continue providing her with the love and care she desires and needs. Bella's Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities? Bella enjoys durable chew toys, tennis balls, and squeaky toys (specifically lobsters!). Bella enjoys Chicken Soup for the Soul for her daily meals and will consume the typical dog treats. She's rarely had table food but will enjoy the occasional 'floor leftovers' she finds. Bella loves to run and enjoys visits to the park, hiking and water activities. She is a strong dog and often wears a dog pack when going on hikes. Cute Bella Story: We have a 9-month old son and Bella was routinely found lounging near him-even relocating closer to him when he'd crawl away. She's gentle, loves family and enjoys being close to her owners. She's the family shadow and enjoys following us around day and night. Why is Bella Being Rehomed? Bella has been well loved, but due to an across country relocation with housing that does not accommodate dogs, we are seeking to re-home her to a loving family. Bella's Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be: Bella's ideal family would be able to spend most of the day with her and take her almost everywhere. She doesn't enjoy being by herself and needs the comfort and closeness of family each day. She would not thrive with a working family where she'd be left to roam or sit in a crate most of the day. Additional Comments: We would be comfortable working to assist the new family with initial questions regarding Bella's orientation to her new home but don't anticipate staying in routine touch once Bella is rehomed.     bio.... Lexi is playful and energetic, and very eager to please. She is quickly learning manners and tricks. She is learning to walk on a leash, is already crate and dog door trained. She loves running in the yard and playing with her other foster friends. She is friendly with people and kids. She does NOT like little dogs, the kind that bark at her; she prefers her bigger friends. But she is playing with a 20lb puppy and loves him. She loves to help fix dinner or just help with household chores. She is a great helper and companion.

Meet Onyx! Onyx is a beautiful girl with a shiny, black coat. Onyx was rescued from the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston, Texas from a flea market parking lot. She had several litters of pups there and would love to find her very own forever home where she can feel loved and safe. Onyx was likely born in 2010 and weighs about 60 pounds and is not expected to get any bigger. She had heartworms when rescued, but is now free of them after treatment. She LOVES relaxing in her kennel and is fully potty-trained. Onyx would do well living in a home with children or without. Onyx enjoys taking a snooze out in the backyard and basking in the ... (Read More)sun. Onyx is much more interested in her people than in other dogs. She would just like being able to snuggle up with you on the couch and have all the affection to herself, and not have to share her food and toys with others. How can we blame her, after being a mama for so long, she just wants someone to be her mama now. Onyx walks well on a leash and is gentle with taking food and treats from your hands. She is out of the highly active puppy stage and would make a great pet for someone looking for a medium-energy young adult dog. She knows how to go sit and loves belly rubs! She would make a good jogging partner and a medium-energy household works just great for her. Please consider this jewel of a dog for your home! To foster or adopt Onyx, please submit an application online at www.corridorrescue.org under the foster or adoption tab. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Roo is an extremely easy going pup! She wasn't feeling very well when she first came to our house, but now that she is feeling well, she loves to play with all the other pups. She loves to romp and wrestle, but she is also a great quiet companion, happy to sit at your feet (if you haven't offered your lap of course) and while away the hours. She's never had an accident in her crate, day or night, and knows that when we got outside, the first thing on her agenda is to pee. There have only been those occasional accidents when we haven't timed our excursions appropriately. She hasn't yet learned to signal us that she needs to go out, but we ... (Read More)are working on that. I just can't begin to tell you what a great little girl Roo is, especially for being a young pup! She is very keyed in to where you are, what you want from her, where the other pups are and if they want to play. She loves mealtime, and has even learned to hint that it might be time for dinner by sitting where she is fed and staring me down with her beautiful brown eyes. She's going to grow up to be a long and lean, graceful girl! She just needs a home to do it in. Roo is a Shepherd mix who is around 6 months old and about 19 lbs. As we believe proper health care of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

DEACON was saved from Brownwood Animal Shelter. Hard to believe he had been there over a month and his time was up - he was transported down to rescue and did great in the car, although he did want to be up front to see what was going on. DEACON is a lively, happy, love-bug, he does jump a lot, but something that can be easily fixed with a normal routine and some one on one training, which he will need anyway. DEACON is very affectionate, he is responsive and he gets on great with other dogs. At first he can be a bit 'full on' but that is the puppy in him. DEACON is around 9-12 months old, he is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, ... (Read More)micro-chipped and tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease. DEACON is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption donation of $350.     Phoebe was first spotted wandering the streets with a leg that appeared broken because it was flopping in an unnatural way when she ran.     You just cannot go wrong with a Nugget, nugget of gold, nugget of wisdom, chicken nugget...all great things. This is our boy, Nugget and he is about 1 1/2 yrs old and about 60 pounds of fun, love and energy! Nugget is tall and just so adorable. He's a great dog and behaves very well in the car and at the vet's office. He really needs a doggy companion and people to play with to expend some of his energy, so an active family and dog would be a great fit for this boy. This fella is still currently living in a boarding facility and he is desperately ready to get out of there because he wants to stretch his legs and play! He is a very ... (Read More)playful and active boy, but he settles down and will be an excellent doggy for you. He really LOVES to spend time with his friends, play, run and would be great for a family that has a large yard, lives near a dog park or lives in the country. Nugget has long legs and likes to hop around like a bunny, so he will need a good, strong, tall fence at his new home. You wouldn't think that a big boy would have any fears, but Nugget does have one and that is thunder. He would love to have a comforting person in his life to ease his rainy day worries. He would also enjoy lounging with his people and sharing a few snacks. He loves treats! He is already neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Due to the neglect he suffered as a stray, he has non-contagious Demodex mange that he is being treated for. Fortunately he is responding very well to the medication and treatment. The vet saw him recently and he has even improved a great deal since that last visit. This issue is expected to be cleared soon and will not be an ongoing problem. Any cost for treatments that he needs will be covered by Corridor Rescue. We are very much looking forward to this young man finding his forever family so he can learn what true love is all about. He would really love a family to help him get over the last hump of his treatment and to start loving him right away. Once you meet him, you will think...now how did I live without my Nugget?     My name is George, 'Geo' to my friends. Yes, I know, I know'|..EVERYONE says I look like Scrappy Doo! I am a male Corgi/Shepard mix who is approximately 3 years old, I weigh around 25-30 lbs. and I am solid muscle! I was rescued from the streets of Oak Cliff. Even though I am small in stature, I am over the top with energy, loyalty, and love for my family. Because I am active, I need to be walked at least once a day and would prefer to jog in order to use up some of my energy so I am less likely to get into things and get into trouble. Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog :) I have also learned how to swim in a pool, of course I still ... (Read More)wear a life jacket. I love to play with other dogs and try to play with cats if they will let me. I tend to get a little rough when playing, so my foster mom thinks I would do best in a home with medium to larger size dogs. I am housetrained, crate-trained, and know how to use the doggie door! Impressive, I know! As a result of my days on the street and having to fight for my food, I have some food aggression and must be fed in my crate if other pets are around. I love to chew so I need to have very durable chew toys like 'Kongs for heavy chewers' available for me to chew on. Since I am a tough guy, I will chew apart stuffed dog toys so please don't leave them where I can get them! I am a great dog with a fun personality who loves to give kisses and have my tummy rubbed. I am currently in a training program to learn some obedience and how to behave like a nice family pet. My ideal forever family will be active. I really want to have my very own family who will care for me and give me the love and attention that I deserve. Will you be that lucky family?     Daisy is a beautiful German Shepherd mix pup who has a wonderful temperament. She is almost 4 years old and currently weighs about 100 lbs (she is on a diet). She gained some weight this past year, but please don't poke fun, as she is sensitive about her weight). Daisy is bilingual in both English and Korean. She loves to lounge, keep your feet warm, and loves to explore. She is extremely polite, is exceptionally bright, and she never says no to a good rub. Animal ID: M102Bandit (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bandit here, how ya doing? I am mostly a German shepherd and maybe golden retriever. I am about 3 years old. I was adopted from an animal shelter and a year later my family returned me. DFW Collie Rescue thought I deserved a 2nd chance so they took me into their rescue program. I am a very loving dog and I will turn on my back and let you scratch my tummy. I know how to sit and down. I am a little hyper-active and need an owner or family that will include me in lots of activities. I will make a great running, jogging and/or hiking partner. I do have some anxiety when in a fenced in yard and will not do well if put there by myself; I ... (Read More)want you with me. (I cannot protect you if I am not with you.) My previous owner stated that I 'had been house trained' so I guess that means I was in the house a lot at one time. I just need someone who will channel my energy and teach me lots of neat commands because I am very smart. I know there is someone out there just waiting to make me a part of their life. I am neutered, current on shots and heartworm preventive and microchipped. I am a good rider and crate trained. An application with reference checks and home visit required to be approved for my adoption. A $200.00 adoption fee and $20 microchip registration fee also required. Call or text 214-668-5794 to get the process started or email dfwcollierescue@gmail.com. An application can be found at www.dfwcollierescue.org. See you later! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

This cute little guy is Biscuit. He is a playful little crazy puppy that is only about 4 months old. We think he is a shepherd rottweiler mix but your guess is as good as ours! He is very friendly and loves to play with other dogs his size. He will need lots of training and time spent with the family so he can learn his manners quicker and figure out who the pack leader is. You will need to provide lots of chew toys and consistent redirecting when he chews on something off limits. It will take a while so you will need LOTS of patience! And your children will need to keep their toys up because he will think they are cool too! If you would ... (Read More)like to come meet him please call (806)363-6499 to make an appointment.     If you're looking for a friend who just wants to give you all her love, then say hello to Ina Pearl. Ina Pearl and her friend Presley were living with a family who felt they couldn't keep up with the girls care. The girls were left outside a lot, and were getting thin. A local rescuer spoke with the family and were able to convince them the girls needed a little more care and could find some new homes where they'd get lots of love and attention. So now their journey begins! Although she's under weight, Ina Pearl is a trooper. She just wants to be near you, and would love a home where she can just be herself. She's very low key and would much ... (Read More)rather take a nap than run around or get into trouble. Ina Pearl does great with other dogs and doesn't mind kitty friends either. She is housebroken, and although she does well in the crate, she'd much rather have a comfy dog bed. If you've got a spot for this lucky older lady, fill out an application today! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Abused/Neglected

GODIVA was saved from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston. She had mange, skin infection and was extremely under-nourished. GODIVA was extremely fearful, even if you touched her gently she would flinch and cower. At GaDaH she was given a medicated bath, prescribed medications and has been living with the puppies, separated by a gate from the other dogs so she doesn't get too overwhelmed. GODIVA has been making great progress, albeit it slow. She is taking food from my hand and licking my fingers, she lets me sit next to her now and stroke her and is realizing that it is a nice feeling. She watches me as I'm moving around. She is starting to get ... (Read More)a little active with the puppies playing with them. I am confident that as GODIVA gets healthier, physically and mentally she will be a lot more active. Her favourite spot is lying or sitting next to the gate so she is no longer intimidated by the rest of the pack coming up to see what is happening,or to say hello. GODIVA, when healed, will be looking for a family that has patience for her to earn her trust, she will always be wary of people initially, but in time with the right love, support, encouragement and affection she will learn to trust and start to enjoy her life which has clearly been full of sadness, neglect and abuse. GODIVA can be adopted from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, for an adoption donation of $350 Our adoption process and application can be found on our website under the application tab - www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org We do allow out of state adoptions, however, we require the family to travel to San Antonio to spend time with the dog/pup to be sure personalities are a good match before traveling home together to start their perfect forever life. Puppies are HARD work, they need training, they need guiding, they CHEW, the poop, they get up to mischief. Please do NOT consider adopting a puppy of any kind unless you have the patience, dedication and time to give them. When German Shepherd Dogs hit around 9 months - they get the energy of ALL the super hero's rolled into ONE - are you going to be ready for that?? Can you channel that???     Tank came to us as a stray with an injured paw, and he had to have one of his toes amputated. In a grass yard where he doesn't have to worry about his tender paw, Tank likes to open up and run his heart out. He's such a great guy, highly intelligent, very sweet-natured and good with humans. He isn't a climber or digger. And with a proper introduction would probably be great with a companion dog. This guy really needs a loving home where he can get the attention and care he needs.

Someone dumped this poor girl at our farm. She is approx 5 mos old and very sweet. She is no trouble at all, but hubby says we have too many and she must go. The shelter here is full so she would be euthanized if I can't find her a home. She does not bother the horses, chickens or other livestock. She is content to follow you around and lay down beside you. Even goes to 'her spot' by the barn when you get in the car, lays down and watches you leave. She is an easy keeper and minds her own business. Really appreciates some attention!

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

ACE was an owner surrender to BARC Animal Shelter in Houston. It was claimed that a room-mate left him when he moved out and after 3 weeks, the person decided ACE was too big for his 7 year old daughter. ACE is extremely skinny and has clearly not been cared for. He is very fearful and I am confident in saying that I believe he has experienced physical abuse. In the rescue with just 4 dogs he was protective with me, but soon learnt that it was ok for me to love on another dog as well as him. I am sure by tomorrow he will be happy with his own kind and relaxed and know he is in a safe environment. ACE is a sweet loving affectionate boy, ... (Read More)who will make an amazing companion. ACE is estimated to be 18 months, to me he looks more like 12 months, so maybe somewhere inbetween :) He is neutered, Rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm negative and micro-chipped. Our application process and adoption application form can be found on our website - www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org GaDaH does allow out of state adoptions, however we require families to travel to San Antonio to spend time with the dogs to be sure of perfect personality fit, before traveling home together.
