Rescue Me ID: 17-04-12-00213Cinnamon (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: Cinnamon was adopted, but through no fault of her own, was returned. At her new home, she became cat savvy, and pretty much ignores them now! Cinnamon loves most anyone who will show her some affection, and will quickly 'lean in' to show her appreciation. She craves attention, likes to run and play with other dogs, has mat a cat or two, and a few children. She did well with all of the above, though the children clearly had been taught how to meet a strange dog for the first time, and the cat was pretty laid back and did not run from her. if a cat runs, it will get a VERY big, up close and personal, WOOF! This girl is STRONG, but ... (Read More)does pretty well on a leash, especially after you get away from the house. She would definitely benefit from someone who will spend some time with some basic training. You are never too old to learn. She loves to go for a ride and will definitely show her excitement if she thinks you are going to take her, or thinks you should! If you reach for her leash (or she thinks you are), she is ready to go! She is smart and knows how to 'sit at the table' before receiving her dinner. Unfortunately, her desire to be 'right next to her person' is greater than her desire to learn to 'go lay down'. Cinnamon has a prescription for Proin. She would not be described as incontinent, but does seem to have a tiny leak occasionally. She regularly goes outside to potty, but if she has a long nap, she can sometimes (not always) drip just a little. She doesn't have any issues when on her prescription. A quiet, more laid back environment would be more suitable for this sweet girl. In the evening, you might find her sprawled out on the sofa next to you, or at your feet, but either way, you can bet she will be near you. She is loving and loyal, and will bond very quickly to the one who is just right for her! She is highly food motivated and a treat for her would be to lick some yogurt from the spoon . . . okay, or to lick anything from a spoon, or your hand, or her plate! Cinnamon is good when left alone in the house, is potty-trained, has been fully-vetted and is on HW preventative. Questions concerning the adoption process should be directed to Peaceful Passings. Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

John is a an amazing young fellow. He has not had any accidents however, he will mark once in a while that hopefully will go away once he has been neutered which is scheduled for next week. You have to see this dog to appreciate his beauty. He is bigger than the picture presents him to be. John has now been with me for two weeks. he is the most loving sweet puppy. he just begs for attention. He is in my house with several other dogs and does very well with them. He tends to be on the alpha dog side so he would be fine with other dogs but not with an aggressive alpha dog. he wants to be a part of a family and sleep by the bed. He does ... (Read More)well with people, children and does well with dogs. He has not been cat tested but can do if a necessary. He is a young boy so he has some energy but not crazy energy. Animal ID: 6664Treeter (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Come and meet this gorgeous girl! Treeter is about 2 years old, 43 lbs., and a Shepherd mix (possibly some Labrador Retriever) with the most beautiful face and eyes. She is potty trained, settles down to sleep in her crate, and has lovely house manners - just give her a bed close to you and she snuggles down nicely. Treeter loves children. She is not a jumper and not a barker, but can get very excited to see you when you come home. She is strong and determined on a leash, so she was trained with a prong collar, and she caught on very quickly to heeling. Treeter is not too interested in little critters until she gets outside, and even then, ... (Read More)she just likes the chase not the catch. Her foster mom says Treeter is an extremely loving dog (even the veterinarian commented on this). A sweet trick with her, just rub her chest and she'll fall asleep sitting next to you! Treeter would do well in a home that has structure and rules to keep her from ruling the roost. Can you be her pack leader (and still smooch that sweet face)? She is current on all shots, spayed, microchipped, and located in Alexandria, Virginia. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00044Georgia (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Georgia's Story... Meet Georgia, a young German Shepherd mix! When we rescued Georgia, she was living on a chain in rural in VA, and VERY pregnant. Luckily, we got her into a loving foster home where she delivered her puppies only days later. All of her babies have been adopted, and now it's Georgia's turn! Georgia has several text book shepherd characteristics. She likes to be very close to her 'people', is intelligent and loyal. She gets very attached and doesn't like to be left alone for long periods. While we don't often require a fenced yard, Georgia has gone into flight mode before and can be difficult to catch. A fenced yard would ... (Read More)keep her safe. She gets along beautifully with the other dogs and cats in her foster home. $175.00 adoption donation ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough) , microchipped and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

My name is Rex and I am a chained dog. Yep, it's every bit as bad as it sounds. Look into my soulful eyes and you can see how I dream to be part of a family like the little dogs who live at my house. You see, when I was a puppy, I lived inside, but as I grew, my caregiver decided to make me an 'outside dog.' I didn't want to be an 'outside dog,' but now, for my 3 years of living, that is the life I have led. I am an optimist, and I have made the most of my life, giving kisses to those who visit me. I waggle and show them what a good boy I can be if only I can move into a home with a family. I dream of that every minute of every day. ... (Read More)THAT DAY HAS ARRIVED. My friends at Radford Pound Pals now have 'ownership' of me and are looking for my perfect new home! They are seeking an experienced dog family who can be patient with me. I want to learn and I want to please, but I may not understand all of the rules at first. See, there are no rules on the chain except surviving. My special friend next door loves me and works on training me every day and brags on how smart I am. She thinks I am a Shepherd/Lab mix and also tells me how handsome I am. I am also neutered, current on vaccines and HW/Lyme negative. Please, if you are interested in me joining your family, write my friends at pals@psknet.com for an application. (Less)

Our Valentines Day present to Sage was her freedom ride out of the shelter. She arrived in rescue a broken soul, almost like she had given up on life along with very poor skin condition, scabs all over her body. Since in rescue her foster reports: Sage is coming out of her shell since arriving here from South Carolina. Her body is evidence of the hard life she has lived, but despite it all she is a sweet and gentle dog. Sage is so excited to see me when I get home from work. The once shy girl greets me with a wagging tail and kisses. She is enjoying having a safe and warm home for the first time in her life most likely. She is also ... (Read More)enjoying eating and gaining weight each day. We are currently working on potty training. She seems to be doing well and learned the routines quickly. We are also working on basic commands such a sit, down, drop-it, and off. Sage is good with other dogs, but would do great as an only dog in a household too. Her foster brother has a bit too much energy for her, but he has taught her how to play with some toys.
