What a beauty! My name is Roxy, an exceptional girl. True to my Collie/Shepherd breed mix, I am loving, loyal and very intelligent. I respond well to commands and know sit, leave it, come and be gentle. Such a good dog. I learn quickly and am eager for you to teach me new things. I am waiting for an active family. I love to swim, go hiking and play fetch. The volunteers say I am fun loving and so sweet. A belly rub and some ear scratches will have me loving you forever. I would do well with a family with older children because I have not been around little kids. Now for my vital stats. Yes, I am healthy and have received excellent care. I ...     Finley - Blind Breed: Lab/Shepherd Mix Age: approx. 9 yrs. Sex: Male (Neutered) Weight: 66 lbs Vaccinations: Current Microchipped: Yes Our sweet Finley was picked up by animal control wandering down a highway. He is totally blind and has no idea where he is. He had been at animal control for 14 days before his family came looking for him. When told there was an impound fee, they stated that he wasn't worth it and left. Being a senior and blind, his chances of making it out alive were practically nil. Rainbow was asked if we could help. A plea was sent out for a foster and one of our long-time volunteers stepped up. We also had a sponsor. ... (Read More)Finley is such a sweet boy and seems to get along with all dogs. We aren't sure about cats because he hasn't been around them.     Lily is an almost 80 pound Shepherd mix with a wonderful temperment most of the time.(Food could be an issue) She reacts to loud noises and has displayed some tendencies of fear of being hit. She was depressed when first brought to me, but she quickly adapted to the laid back ways of my dogs. Since she does seem to have a few personal space issues and fear issues she is beyond my ability to foster her for much longer.     ***COURTESY LISTING*** Hi there, ladies & gentlemen! My name's Smokey. I don't know if you remember me, but I was taken to the Wythe County Dog Shelter a little over a month ago by my former human's family%BD'%BD| & when no one came for me, I was SO afraid. Thankfully, 2 ladies set their minds to saving me. And, that's exactly what they did! So, a little bit about me%BD'%BD| they tell me I'm around 6-7 years old & am a GSD mix. I don't remember much about when I was born or my mama & daddy, so I'll just have to go with it. The lady who got me out of the shelter took me to wonderful boarding facility since no one offered to foster me. ... (Read More)There, she gave me a shot (DHLPP). This was on April 15th. I haven't been to the doctor recently & still have my manhood, which I am told MUST go. Oh, laud%BD'%BD| I ride really well in a crate & like to sleep there, but once I'm up%BD'%BD| I'M UP! And, I want OUT! I used to be housetrained, but since my human passed I've been kept penned outside all the time%BD'%BD| for THREE YEARS! So, I've kinda gotten used to going potty at my leisure. And, I loooove to mark my territory. After all, it IS mine! More, you ask?!? I behave really well inside, other than marking what's rightfully mine. No chewing from this middle-aged fella! And, when the two fine volunteer ladies came to visit me at the boarding facility the other day, they let me play with a friend that resides down the hall. (Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to play with any little humans, cats, or little canines, but I'm sure I'd love them just the same!) They also looked at my teeth, inside my ears, & even pulled my tail! They put me through the WORKS, I tell ya! I have no problem with being restrained OR sharing my food. I may need a little leash work, though, as I haven't been walked in SO long%BD'%BD| If you are interested in fostering/adopting me or are a rescue that can help these 2 lovely ladies help me, please contact Kathryn Haddock or Kim Stafford on Facebook! You may also email them. Kathryn's email address is loveablackdog@gmail.com & Kim's email address is Knstafford09@yahoo.com! They even have videos of me in action! (Less)

Hi my name is Gabby and I am looking for my forever home. I between 1-3 years old (so I'm still a puppy) I am a very happy girl that LOVES to play fetch. As long as you throw the ball I will go get it. I am still working on the 'drop' command, but it is my toy so I don't always want to let go smile emoticon I know sit and easy and I am working on walking better on my leash. My temp foster mom even got me a pretty pink leash and collar so that I didn't have to wear that bright orange collar anymore. Orange just is not my color. I was rescued at the 11th hour at Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury NC. I don't know why they would want to ... (Read More)put me to sleep but no one came for me until Last Day Dogs decided to pull me and this nice lady named Trish came and got me. I will be forever grateful!!!! I am good with most cats and dogs and LOVE LOVE LOVE people. I just want to be near you and wiggle wiggle wiggle to show you how happy I am. I am UTD on my shots, Heartworm negative and have also been spayed. I am also housebroken and crate trained! Are you on the go and want a partner to ride shotgun? I would love to be your walking, running on the go buddy. I will love you forever and make sure that you always have someone by side. Wont you give me a chance??? PS I LOVE the car too and have not met a toy that I don't like. I even got to pick my new toy when I got my new leash and collar. I was so excited I carried it all the way to the car and played with it right away. It was a rope with two hooves SO COOL. I have so much I want you to know about me!!! Most importantly, I would love to have a home and a family of my own. How about with you? Love Gabby Please contact lastdaydogs@yahoo.com if you are interested in me! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-14-00070Elsa (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Elsa! she is a 7-8 month old beautiful white shepherd mix that came to us from a horrible situation. Elsa and her two siblings were left on their own to fend for themselves from the beginning, starved and neglected with little to no human contact and then dumped in a high kill rural shelter in the south. What little human contact they did have doesn't seem to have been pleasant so understandably, it has been a very slow process trying to re-gain their trust and help them feel secure. Because they all still have fear issues, we do consider them **Special Needs** and they will need very special homes. It took a lot of patience, time and ... (Read More)love for them to open up in their foster home but the more they felt safe and secure with their surroundings, the more they started to open up and act like puppies. Elsa's siblings have both recently found their forever homes and now it is Elsa's turn. Elsa has such a sweet nature and she loves playing with other animals, even the dog savvy cat is one of her pals! Even though these puppies seem like happy, playful, silly pups in their foster home, a place where they feel comfortable, they are still very fearful of the outside world. A new person, different places, car rides, even being on a leash is scary for them. Their foster mom is working with them to try and build confidence but with fearful puppies you cannot push them. They have to do things in their own time and require very positive training techniques. We have found that there are some things that really help them with the adjustment period and therefore we would like to have these things present in any potential home. A relaxed home with a fenced in yard is a must. While they do not really enjoy walking around on a leash, they absolutely love playing in the yard. They play with toys, they chase balls, they really like running around in a place that feels secure. Having another established, outgoing, friendly dog already in the home also works wonders. Even though they are fearful, the have always gotten along well with other animals and are submissive in nature. They will follow the other dog's lead so having a confident role model in the home really helps bring out their true personalities and helps them settle faster into a new home environment. Elsa's family will need extra patience and time to work with her and help build confidence. Her forever family needs to understand and accept that she may always have some fearful tendencies and prefer to be a 'homebody'. If you think you may have room in your heart and home for this very special little girl please contact us to arrange a meet! (Less)

I posted this over a year ago, and she got adopted by what I thought was a good family. She is in a home with small children and one other dog that she got along with great unitl now according the current owners. I don't believe what they tell me at this point, but I am trying to save her life. I need a foster with no other dogs or female dog or that can keep her separate until we can figure out whats going on with her. I fear they've done a lot of damage to her. (Read More)will take care of it, she's living in an outside kennel. She came to me from Greenville, SC shelter and she was urgent. She is 38.4 lbs, Heartworm Negative, spay, UTD on her shots, per shelter good with other dogs, and loves people. I am fostering her, I live in Stafford, VA. If interested in adopting or finding out more about this gorgeous girl please contact me. She is marked at shelter as being an ACD mix, I think she looks Sheppard mix but could have some ACD, the colors are throwing me off. but personality may tell me more. She has some purple on her tongue, she's an awesome girl, very well adjusted, happy, medium energy, sweet and just loves people. Pictures do not do this girl justice she is very unique looking.
