Rescue Me ID: 14-09-29-00006Zeus (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Zeus is a rowdy boy looking for a very active adult only home with German Shepherd experience. It will be required that Zeus is signed up for positive reward based obedience classes before his adoption can be finalized. He is in desperate need of some manners and socialization. It is crucial to the lifelong happiness of Zeus and his family that his new owners be dedicated to doing all the proper socialization German Shepherds need; with people and dogs. Zeus could potentially live with just the right submissive dog but he would do much better as the only dog in the home. He is extremely excited to see other dogs right now but is not very ... (Read More)tolerant when the other dog tries to tell him to stop his shenanigans so we will be incredibly picky about placing Zeus in a home with a resident dog. With proper, consistent socialization throughout his life, he can surely behave himself properly around other dogs but it will be the up to his owners to teach him. Zeus has a very high prey drive and won't be able to live in a home with cats or other small animals, such as chickens or rabbits. He is also far too bouncy for children and cannot live in a home where children will be around often. Zeus is incredibly energetic and will need an equally energetic home; he won't be able to exercise himself in the backyard. If you have German Shepherd experience and are looking for a dog, please submit an adoption application to the front desk. We will be calling the most appropriate families in for an introduction. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-28-00337Tug (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This is Tug! He has had a very rough start in life and is in desperate need of a responsible, active and loving new family. Tug came in to us extremely underweight with a poor coat and very undersocialized. Despite the hardships he has faced, he is a very sweet, happy boy who just needs someone to put the training and love into making him a fabulous dog. It will be mandatory that Tug be signed up for positive reward based obedience classes before his adoption can be finalized. His new owners should be experienced with large, undersocialized dogs and familiar with reward based training. Tug has likely spent most of his life outdoors and would ... (Read More)love to be a real part of the family, kept inside with a nice dog bed to sleep on, maybe even at the foot of your bed! Tug will need to be the only dog in his new home. He is very unsure of other dogs and can be overwhelmed by them. With proper socialization and training, he can likely overcome his insecurities but Tug will likely never be a good candidate for the dog park. Tug would also do best in a home without cats or small animals, he has a high prey drive and they would be far too fun to chase and chew on. Any children in Tug's home should be over 14 and have lived with large, bouncy dogs before. It would be best if these kids can assist in his training as well. He would make an excellent jogging or running partner and would love weekend hikes and this is the kind of outlet Tug needs to stay happy and healthy. If you have the room in your heart and home to give a sweetheart a second chance at a great life, please submit an adoption application to the front desk and you can take him on a nice walk! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Ginger, I am a 4-5 yr old German Shepherd blend, and weigh about 65 pounds. I was on the euthanasia list at the San Antonio city shelter and the ladies at the shelter BEGGED Ms. Peggy from CARE to save me because I'm so sweet. I'm currently in a foster home in Redmond, WA. There are a dog, cat, 2 human kids and a mom and dad in my foster family. I'm nice to everyone but I particularly like to be with my foster mom. Although my foster dad tries, I still don't totally trust him. I haven't had the best experience with men but I'm never mean. I would love to belong to a family with maybe a mom or a mom and dad as long as Dad is ... (Read More)patient with me. I like kids but I'm reserved so I wouldn't want to disappoint them if they're looking for an active playmate. If you're looking for a quiet companion who likes walks and spending time sleeping at your feet then I'm the girl for you. My adoption fee is $400 and covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and my air transport to the NW. Contact my foster mom, Karin, at karinkeith@hotmail.com to request an adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-01347Odin (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Odin is an intelligent and very loving dog. He loves to run and would play catch all day if allowed. He has great potential and a new family who has the time to channel his energy into a fun job (running partner, agility, herding perhaps (?)), would be the perfect fit. He is a quick learner and responds extremely well to positive reinforcement based training. We have raised Odin and his brother since the age of 9 weeks, but need to re-home him due to personality conflicts and jealousy issues with his brother and our older male dog. Odin does suffer from some fear based anxieties, ie. meeting new people, people approaching while we are ... (Read More)walking, but with consistent training he can overcome this. He has also tried to 'herd' us if there is too much excitement in the home, but a calmer environment always helps him keep control. Please let us know if you are at all interested in possibly becoming Odin's new forever family. Thank you. (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Muzby and it is so very nice to meet you! I am a super handsome 6-year-young male Shepherd- Lab mix with stunning blue eyes looking for a new place to call home. I like to play ball or Frisbee and am an expert at fetch. I enjoy all outdoor activities and think car ride adventures are very fun. I know the commands come, down, shake, off, and am good on a leash. I am housebroken and will go to the door to let you know I have to go outside. I am described as active, playful, friendly, and cuddly. I need to go to a home without those pesky cats or chickens. I am protective of my food around other dogs, but not people, ... (Read More)so I should be fed separately. I am a volunteer favorite and they say I am great on a leash, love to play ball, and am very well behaved. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-11-00004Billy (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Billy needs a great home with room to run and play. He is a wonderful dog! Gets along really well with cats and dogs. He does get anxious when there are a lot of people around (6 is pretty much his limit) especially when there is another dog there. Right now he is in an only pet home. Billy is also not good with men who have a lot of facial hair and glasses, it took him quite a while to warm up to my grandfather. He is so loving and all he wants to do is play! Great with kids. Even when they crawl over him or tugs on his tail (my nephew was two, but he knows better now) so no worries there. HIs back is about three feet high, definitely a ... (Read More)sizable dog. He is also very sensitive about his paws, he absolutely does not like getting his nails clipped. Doesn't like being left alone and has separation anxiety, so he will bark and whine. He is not destructive, just vocal. Wherever he goes, he will go with two bags of food. Please call/email with any questions! (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This is Tika and boy does she have a sad story before she came to us. Tika has been displaced for a long time now and is looking for the right home to love her forever! She is a sweet girl once she gets to know you and loves to be brushed. She adores playing with her toys and chasing tennis balls (as you can see in the video) but because of her displacement she can become a bit territorial with her space, toys, and most likely her humans. Tika does not like to play with other dogs, therefor can be somewhat dog aggressive when off leash. She is very obedient however, and responds well to 'leave it' 'off' 'sit' 'down' 'speak' 'shake.' She does ... (Read More)not currently do well with young children, but we think with some professional training that could be remedied. She will need a home without small animals. Tika has tested heartworm negative, UTD on shots and has been spayed. She is house trained and very respectful inside homes. She is not destructive and really wants to please her person. (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Tonka was surrendered because he bit a person who came into his yard. Because of the bite we cannot adopt him out in Clallam County but could transfer him to a qualified rescue or to an individual experienced with German Shepherds. Tonka suffers from exocrine pancreatic insufficiency which is managed with diet and medication. He has been at the shelter for several months and is an extreme kennel guarder.

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Abused/Neglected

Kilo is a very sweet dog. He rarely barks. He was raised with a female dog but they were seperated a few yrs. ago. He is not getting the attention he deserves and is often neglected by his owners. He has been confined to small spaces and not given the attention he deserves. It breaks my heart because he is such a good dog. I would like him to live his senior years happy with someone who can give him love and attention and a yard to run.

Darling Brice! This 2yr old boy is incredibly sweet natured, affectionate and gets along great with people he meets outside the home. When in the home, he feels the need to protect so he must have an experienced handler to help him understand that he does not always need to guard the home but instead can just relax. He really is a gentle boy that loves affection... and LOVES to run and play with the other dogs. He's very smart and learns very quickly... except he gets so excited when meeting new people he still jumps up to greet - but he's getting there! Even though he loves children, he does feel the need to protect and guard them so ... (Read More)to help him feel more at ease, no children in the home is best. He'll thrive in an active home that will take him on long walks, jogs and hikes... and that has a large yard in which he can run and stretch his legs. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cato... big, bold and beautiful! Cato is about 2-3ish yrs old and weighs about 70lbs. He's a wonderfully sweet boy that is also somewhat of a typical shepherd - friendly and playful... then a bit aloof while he completes his periodic perimeter check of the yard. Then he's back again to play fetch or lean against you while you give him a good body rub. He loves to run and is very athletic so a home with a runner/jogger/hiker will be ideal. He also loves to go on long walks and car rides. He a very outdoorsy kind of guy so he must have a fenced backyard in which to play and lounge. Cato is also a very quiet boy that is quite ... (Read More)observant of his surroundings so he'll make his family feel very safe. Cato loves people but because of his size, children must be over 14yrs old. He's not great with other animals so no dogs, cats or critters for this boy. He's had a great foundation of professional training so he's also a polite, obedient boy that just needs an assertive, large breed/shepherd experienced home. He's fully house and crate trained and can be left home alone for a reasonable amount of hours each day. (Less)

Animal ID: PRO-275Leo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Leo. I am 8 yrs young and am lab/german sheep mix. My mom adopted me and my brother Beau when we were only 5-6 weeks old and raised us. I have always had wander lust (so a good fence is a must to keep me safe) and led Beau on many adventures, one of which got me hurt %BD'%BD|. bad! I fell down some big boulders and broke my elbow %BD'%BD| It now is bionic and has never caused me any grief. I can run and play with the best of them. Beau and I always went to Auntie Gretchen's for 2-3 weeks in the summer when mom went on vacation. Auntie has been trying to convince mom for years that even though I am so sweet and ... (Read More)cuddly, I see myself as alpha (at least over Beau and mom)%BD'%BD|. I learned years ago that auntie is alpha in her house and I don't argue the point. Mom recently got a divorce and for months, Beau and I came to auntie's house%BD'%BD| Mom finally found a place and we all moved in. I got very irritated with her and the others when they would go to work so I decided to show em who was boss and I ate the furniture, tore up carpets and door moulding %BD'%BD| mom finally put a camera to see who was doing the damage%BD'%BD|. Beau and Jax would go hide when I got wound up. Mom is renting and finally, tearfully asked auntie Gretchen to try and find me a new home %BD'%BD|. my good traits are: I know sit/down/stay and walk nicely on a leash. I am learning 'wait' here at auntie's house. I love to play fetch and am happy running and playing with other dogs. I HATE being tied up and will bark and whine to show my displeasure. I know to stay off the furniture and I don't get into the garbage. I adore humans and don't care what size they are. I don't guard food or toys and am not a picky eater. I am crate trained and need a nice roomy, strong one. I am completely house broken. I love going for car rides and just generally being with a human. I don't jump on people and I am not a obnoxious licker of humans. I do have a couple of faults%BD'%BD| I will destroy any toy that is filled with stuffing. I have been known to destroy my bedding if it is 'fluffy' (though I am doing way better). I can be with cats but should have some supervision since I do like to see if I can make them run from me. I need a family that will shower me with love and affection and take me in as a long lost family member. (Less)
