Rescue Me ID: 16-05-19-00027Major (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Major came in as a feral dog. His brother came around more quickly than he has and was already successfully placed in a home. He is quite skiddish around humans and would need a very experienced owner. He does well with children, in fact children have been the only ones to successfully interact with him. He is not food motivated but he is very curious. His owner would need to spend a considerable amount of time socializing and training him but his personality is excellent and he is a gentle soul

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-12-00220Cookie Needs Foster (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Cookie... a darling, sweet as can be girl that needs a foster home for approx 3 wks. Cookie recently weaned her puppies and now she's in the process of drying up so she can be spayed. She is a wonderful girl that loves people... and she absolutely loves children. Because she's still a bit hormonal, she's not interested in other doggy playmates so no other dogs in the home at this time is best. Cookie must have a fenced backyard because she loves to just sprawl on the cool grass and bask in the sun. Overall she's a very easy going girl that enjoys walking and car rides, too. As soon as she has been spayed, she will be available for ... (Read More)adoption. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm looking for a new home for Clyde. I just don't have the time for him anymore. I work to many hours and feel that it is not right to keep him in my house all day. I just want to find a good home for him. He is great around everyone and loves kids! He does have an allergy that I've been trying to pinpoint. The vet suggested that it was a food allergy but I've tried changing his food a few times and have had no luck. He has been around a pomeranian and may be allergic to her but I'm not sure. He can jump a 4ft fence so if you live in the city it is my preference that you have a tall fence. I would like to bring Clyde to the house that he ... (Read More)will be living in to meet you or your family and make sure that everything will work out. Worse case scenario if he doesn't fit well with your family I would be willing to take him back until I find another home for him. I've had him since he was a puppy and just want a good home for him. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Breed savvy adopter needed! Odis is a handsome four-five year old male German Shepherd looking for a new home. Odis came to the shelter when his owner was arrested, and it's clear he missed out on a lot of socialization and positive experiences during his life so far. Odis spent most of his time outside at his previous home and is uncomfortable with a lot of handling so is still looking for a patient, dedicated home that will help him learn to trust and adjust to his new home, rules and schedule. After weeks working with our staff he is just now starting to enjoy humane companionship, walks and toys. He can be very nervous meeting new people ... His new owner will need to be committed to working with our Behavior staff after adoption to make sure he is transitioning well and getting the TLC he needs. German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

We have a 6 year old male/neutered German Shepherd named Anton that we need to surrender to a home that doesn't have young children. He is very loving of us but can be nervous around strangers or people who are nervous around him. We have two other dogs a beagle and a pointer. He's fine with them and the labradors we have had in the past and socializes at the off leash parks, he likes chasing balls and swimming. He has nipped people a couple times leaving a red mark. This is the problem we have. We understand this can be handled with training but we have not been consistent enough especially since we both work. That leaves us in the position ... Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Adeline! This lovely Shepherd/Rottweiler mix is approx. 5 years old, and is ready for her forever home! Adeline is a very sweet girl who can take some time to warm up to new people and places. Once she trusts you, she is very affectionate and gentle, but she also likes to have fun and play. Adeline is a smart dog, who already knows some commands such as 'sit', and is very food-motivated, so she would probably be the star student if her adopter took her to obedience class! She takes treats very gently, and also walks great on a leash. When Adeline barks, it can sound like she is a tough cookie, but don't let that fool you; her big bark ... German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Please don't keep scrolling... Listen to my story first. I came into Benton County Animal Control located in Kennewick, WA on October 10th, 2015 at 3:21PM. That is when my life changed forever. My name is Harper and I am a female Labrador Retriever/German Shepard Mix. I've only lived on this earth for 3 years, and those 3 years have been pretty crazy. The nice people that take care of me at Benton County Animal Control believe that I was severely abused by a male... Which is why it is hard for me to trust them right away. While I love the people that take care of me here, I would like nothing more than to go home with some nice people that ... (Read More)will give me a big comfy bed, and maybe some treats every once and a while. I don't ask for much anymore. Since I've been in a 4x10 kennel for the past 6 months, I can get stressed out easily, which is why I need a home with no other animals. Sometimes I wish people would just stop at my kennel and get to know me before they judge me. I promise if you did that, you'd fall in love with me, just like the people that take care of me did. I need a home that has no other animals, and preferably lots of room to run around. I know I'm probably asking for too much, but I'm really hoping there is a home somewhere out there that fits my needs. I am such a lover and such a sweet girl, I deserve a loving home after all I've been through. I want to leave the shelter and come home with you. After almost half a year at the shelter... I'm starting to wonder if I will ever get my own family that doesn't leave at closing time every day. Could you be the family to change my mind? Please call the nice people at Benton County Animal Control to learn more about me, or respond by email and an animal control officer will tell you all about me, and send you more pictures, too! Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope you will save me! (Less)

Ollie is an exceptional dog. He is 9 mos old...about 60#s...German Shepherd mix. He is active, happy and will make an energetic family a wonderful family dog. He does need exercise, discipline, and affection (the Caesar Milan Way). He is VERY loving and gets along with other dogs...and loves his toys! He saw cats for the first time at my house and is not sure what they are yet. The slight grey marks on his coat are just from playing in the dirt. He is snow white and has no hearing problems. Rescue Me ID: 16-03-09-00023Star (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Star is currently fostered in Gig Harbor, WA. Star was born 8/4/15. Star is a wonderful little girl who has come a long way in the few weeks she's been with her foster mom. Due to her fear of people, it took about a day before Star opened up, but by the second day Star was playing with toys, romping outside, and being a fun and silly pup. Her fear of people is pretty strong, and her foster mom has been working on this by taking Star to work with her so she can begin to learn that people are not dangerous. Star gains more confidence when other dogs are around so an ideal home would include a nice playful dog, as Star is still a puppy and ... (Read More)likes to play. In terms of life skills, Star is house broken, crate trained, sleeps through the night in her crate, is getting better at recalls, and rides well in the car. She is also learning basic commands like sit, down, and touch. Her foster mom has been working with her on leash walking and Star has made a huge amount of progress in this area; she now walks very well on leash except when she gets scared; when this happens, she can stall or shy away. Her fear seems to be restricted to people; Star is not afraid of her foster mom's vacuum, does not seem to be bothered by traffic or loud noises. Star is a fun dog, with a moderate energy level. She loves sleeping in the sun but is always up for a romp. The ideal home would be with a single female or low-key relaxed couple. The lucky person or couple who adopts Star must be committed to continuing to work on helping Star overcome her fear of people - once this is minimized, she's going to be a perfect dog. Another dog in the house would be ideal and would help give Star confidence. As she is enjoying walks more and more, she would probably become a nice walking or jogging buddy. She may be fine with children eventually, but she's currently too fearful for their sometimes erratic behavior. She is 9 mos old and very sweet. We are guessing she is a hound/shepherd mix, all of her siblings have made their wait into homes in the PNW and she's the last one looking! She has not had a lot of people interaction and does have a slight fear of people. She will come up and greet you. She is spayed, vaccinated, and ready to go. She'll be great with the kids but needs lots of TLC and training. Adoption Fee: $300(includes all medical, health certificate for travel, and all travel expenses) (Less)

Riley is a 7 month Lab/Shepherd mix rescued from a high kill TX shelter. He is a sweet boy that is a little shy but learning to trust in his foster home.     Daisy is a 60 pound 4 year-old Shepherd/Terrier mix. She's taken the five week training course at the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell and has free life-long private follow-up lessons. Daisy loves hanging out with her people and getting snuggles and belly rubs. She often has anxiety around new people and can be protective of her family. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bennett is a sweet shy, 5 year old boy that weighs about 60lbs. It takes him a little time to warm up but lots treats and gentle petting helps him understand quickly that he's found another friend. He loves to play with other dogs... and actually prefers males dogs to play with. Because he's a bit insecure, he must have another medium to large, easy going dog in the home. Bennett is learning to walk on a leash and go for car rides... and he's coming along like a champ! He must have a fenced backyard and a dog experienced home. Because he's timid, no kids in the home would be best... and no cats.
