German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

We have a wonderful Shepherd/Husky mix that has a few problems that we are unable to work with in our current situation. He is blind in the right eye so his perception is off and runs into things a lot. He also has an extreme fear of most loud noises including wind and anything with an engine. we have never been able to train him as he has virtually no interest in any reward system which leads him to be uncontrollable when outside. He loves children but is unaware that he has a tendency to knock then over and step on them. We still love him but we know he needs a lot of attention that we are unable to give him.

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Buttercup (better known as 'B'), is a beautiful girl. Due to be euthanized in an overcrowded impound facility, she was brought in by Close to Home Canine Rescue. B plays well with other dogs and is food motivated, making her easy to train. B is potty trained and crate trained. She knows how to fetch, sit, come, lay down, and wait. This was all taught in less than 24 hours!!! B can get easily distracted on walks but she has improved greatly in the last couple weeks. She would be great in a yard with a fence so that she can indulge her every whim, however a fence is not necessary, she is set up with a runner and she does wonderfully with ... (Read More)that. B is a sweet girl, and she loves her humans, she is quite a cuddler and her beautiful face and quirky attitude make her a joy to be around. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-04-15-00184Kimbo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

I need to find a home for Kimbo as soon as possible! Kimbo was originally rescued from a home where he was abused by a male. A friend of mine took him in and found herself in a situation where she could not keep him. Unfortunately, he ended up in a home for one year where he was severely neglected and left to live in a basement, not even to be let outside. Kimbo does do well with other dogs, but would be best placed in a home with no other dogs seeing as he does have food aggression issues when it comes to other dogs. He does not do well with cats or other small pets. My Husband and I have spent a lot of time retraining him, since my ... (Read More)friend did put him through 'Dog Manners Classes' where he passed with flying colors! Kimbo has really come around in the last 6 weeks that we have had him, but becomes nervous in new situations. He loves walks, lots of attention, praise, treats, playing fetch, cuddling, and sneaking in our bed in the middle of the night. Kimbo is very loving and will make a great pet! He is waiting for the right owner to find him. An owner that will continue to train him, be patient with him, spoil him, and give him all the love and attention he finally deserves. (Less)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mindy is a german shepherd dog, about 2 years old. This lovely young girl is a little shy upon first acquaintance, but warms up quickly. Mindy likes to run and play, with toys and with other dogs. She is crate trained, is familiar with the sit and down signals, and walks well on a leash. Mindy would benefit from a little help in building her confidence, but with consistency, she will blossom quickly. Fenced yard and obedience training course highly recommended.
