Wow. Rescue Me helped me find the most WONDERFUL HOME for my dog within two hours of posting. We all need to spread the word about this site. It is so nice to have a site that owners can post on, so dogs do not have to be returned to the Humane Society and sit in a cage until a new home is found.

I just wanted to thank Rescue Me for putting the word out that we needed to find a new home for Diablo. With their help, Diablo has found a new home with a forever family. Thanks to them in our hard time of having to give him up we had lots of responses to people wanting Diablo and Diablo seems to be happy with his new family. So thank you for helping us find him a new home. I also wanted to thank the wonderful family that took him and I know they are a good match.

Within hours, I had people calling and emailing me about King! He has now been adopted by a new family who will enjoy having him. I miss King dearly and I hope he'll be happy with his new home! Thanks, Rescue Me.

What a wonderful group! For several reasons we needed to find a new home for our GSD. It was heartbreaking to let her go, but the response from so many caring people who wanted to adopt her was overwhelming. She could not have gone to a better home. We are very grateful to Rescue Me.

We are very thankful to this website for helping us find a new family for our dog. He was only on the site two days! He is now living with a police officer and his family. Even though rehoming a pet is very hard, we are confident that he is with a good, loving family. Thank you so much, Rescue Me.

I've had more contacts through Rescue Me than any other website. Every foster goes to Rescue Me and every foster gets adopted. It might take a little while, but they get adopted! Tove went to a wonderful home, as an only dog, with a man who absolutely loves her. He goes on walks, hikes and runs with Tove. Exactly what she wanted! Thank you Rescue Me for your wonderful, free website!

Our new baby in our home is a precious German Shepherd mix. His foster mom, Michell, house broke/trained him quite well and 'Beau' has become best friends with his roommate 'Henry' (German Shepherd/Golden). So thankful for Rescue Me and we tell everyone to go online - adopt locally from your state!

We are so happy to welcome Tuck into our home. The previous owners wrote an honest, thorough description of their much loved pet, and made every effort to work with us on pet introductions, medical records and delivery. Their cooperation and caring made it possible for this sweet German Shepard to skip any shelter time, leaving much needed space for less fortunate animals. I first saw Tuck on Rescue Me and resolved to either find a home for her, a more desirable place, or adopt her myself. In two short weeks, her intelligence, good nature and desire to please has been essential to merging into our pack. It hasn't been perfect, but with gentle resolve, boundaries and lots of love, we are glad to say we could not have adopted a better dog. Please note Tuck is six years old. She is a seasoned, well trained pet, and positive proof that adopting an older dog can be a huge success in all ways.

We really didn't want to have to re-home Mae, but she just wasn't comfortable with our small child. Through Rescue Me, we were able to connect with a K-9 trainer. Mae is entering into her new life as a working dog and I sincerely believe that this will fulfill her working needs and give her the quality of life she deserves. We were contacted and worked with the adopter to make the transition smooth for everyone. Of course, tears were shed, but minimized by the fact that we knew she was entering into a great new life. I would absolutely recommend this site as a way to re-home your pet and connect with people that can provide a home that meets their needs. Just remember to please screen your potential adopters carefully and call on references provided. Thank you!

I wanted to share my story to help encourage others trying to find a home for their pets. I tried everything and had almost given up finding a home for our puppy. I am so thankful that I came across Rescue Me! I found the perfect family for our puppy and couldn't be more pleased. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found out about this site. I think it's a wonderful thing that Rescue Me is doing to help people in finding homes for their pets or people looking to adopt. We have a terrible problem with people dumping animals out on us and it just got to where we couldn't afford to feed everyone while trying to take care of our family. I feel really good that I did my very best for our puppy and I couldn't have done it without Rescue Me. Thank you!!

My wife and I met Gypsi today and immediately fell in love. This five year old female was standoffish initially, but she loved to be petted by my wife. Gypsi came from a loving home and it could be observed in her manners. She is a beautiful, alert, and loving GSD. We hope to have her for a long time. Even our black lab took to her immediately.      We are happy to announce that Bello got adopted yesterday. We looked at a lot of different options, but it was through Rescue Me that we were able to find a loving couple to adopt Bello. He needs a lot of attention, space and exercise. So, we were concerned where he may end up. The couple has two acres and had been thinking of looking for a GSD. After visiting the site, they contacted me and we set up a meeting for the wife to come and see Bello. She saw Bello and decided to take him the same day. She sent us pictures of him in his new home. He looks happy and very excited. I'm sure he is happy and content and will enjoy running around the two acres.

Buddy was found as a stray in extremely poor condition. The person who found him was not able to keep him, was only able to get him off the streets. He was then relocated with a young man. Unfortunately, the landlord would not allow him to keep him. Then a babysitter was added to the mix, and that's where I came in. I saw him being walked and commented on the dog. He needed a home. They were unsuccessful, tried all they know, and were fearing they might have to put him down. So, Buddy came home with me. After trying approximately 60 different names, we kept Buddy which is what the babysitter was calling him. He seemed to like it well enough. This poor dog, approx eight years old, did not know any of the basic commands. He didn't know what a toy was or even a milk bone. He had gained weight, but he was still horribly thin. Veterinarian visit showed worms, but no heart worm. We treated and started on preventative. Buddy is a great dog, however, was never taught not to kill cats, chickens and squirrels. Not only did he kill seven chickens, almost got a few barn cats, and house cats (who were subsequently locked in the basement). He scaled fences, broke through large inside wire kennels, opened house doors, and so on. He also was not into human contact. He accepted it, but either way was okay with him. After working with Buddy a few weeks, (with our house cats still in the basement and pretty mad at that!), he caught a chicken and brought it to me still alive. Huge Progress! He also learned to sit, to lay, and fetch. Oh, he knows what toys are now, and is loving pets and scratching and loving the affection. Thanks to this site, Buddy was placed today in his new home. He was not an easy one to place. It had to be just the right person willing to continue his training. Buddy came from a really dark place but, thanks to Rescue me, his remaining days will be happy.

We wanted to find the 'right' home with good people who would love and care for Kojak. We are happy to say we found a great couple/family who adopted him. They stay in touch and keep us updated with news and photos. I also liked that we could carefully screen interested adopters.      I posted Rebel on the Rescue Me site and he was adopted a week later to a loving, young couple who will give him the TLC Rebel needs. They have plenty of room for him to run and play. I wouldn't have been able to find such caring people if it was not for Rescue Me. I had numerous people all over the state interested in adopting Rebel. I even had one out of state inquiring about him. With Rescue Me, it is a blessing to see people rescuing a dog in need of a loving home, instead of buying from a breeder or puppy mill. Bless you all for opening up your hearts to the animals in need. 18th century German philosopher Immanuel Kant said, 'We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.' Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Albert Schweitzer said, 'It is man's sympathy with all creatures that first makes him truly a man'. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, for thinking of the animal in need. God bless you all!

I appreciate everyone who responded to my post on Sarge. Sarge has been adopted to a great, loving home where he will be loved and cared for physically and mentally. He is also to be trained for search and rescue! With myself being an E911 dispatcher, I know from personal experience how useful a trained dog is, especially for a small child missing or an elderly person confused! It gives me great pleasure, comfort and peace of mind that Sarge will be trained to do what he was actually bred to do and he can possibly save a life! If it wasn't for Rescue Me, I would have not found a person who is so passionate about training dogs for search and rescue missions. He also shared a few of his stories about previous dogs he trained and still has that has rescued or saved someone. It brought tears to my eyes and comfort to my heart!! Thanks for all the help!!!! I will also be allowed to keep a check on Sarge and get updates on his progress which makes me feel even more pleased!!!! I can't say it enough, THANKS!!!!

Duke was adopted the day after I posted him on Rescue Me. The lady who adopted him was very excited to find a German Shepherd since she looks only for that breed to train as a rescue dog. She wanted a dog with a non-aggressive personality who could socialize with other dogs. Duke was a perfect fit. I knew he needed someone who would be willing to spend time training him. He has a lot of energy and is smart; I'm sure he will do well. He seemed to accept his surroundings and his new owner as soon as we got there. I have her contact information so I can follow up to see how he is doing. This website did the trick.

Your service was an answer to my prayers! The sweet baby that I brought home off the streets of a not-so-good neighborhood found a loving home in less than 24 hours after posting her pic and information on Rescue Me. I was driving home from work yesterday evening. I work as a counselor at an elementary school. On my way home, I saw some kids with a beautiful German Shepherd. Then, all of a sudden, she ran across the street, right in front of me, with me almost hitting her. I thought she must belong to the kids, until I noticed that no one came after her to retrieve her, which I thought was odd. So, I turned around and drove back to check on her. I saw her walking along with the two older girls. So, I pulled over and said that I was glad that she was okay and that she belonged to someone. I also noticed how skinny she was. I could easily see her ribs and backbone from my car which made known that something was not right. They immediately told me that she was not their dog, and that she was just following them, and that they did not want her, and asked me if I wanted her. At that point, I knew that I had to try to help her. So, I told them, 'Yes, I will help her, if they would help me get her into my car.' Well, she got right in without much effort on our part at all. I really did not have a plan. But, I knew that I could not leave her there, a neighborhood known for dog fighting and using non-aggressive dogs as bait. So, we get home and she meets my two cats and my little Yorkie, Chyna, who is not happy at all to see a dog whose head is the size of her! I immediately knew that I would not be able to keep her with Chyna, who is prone to seizures, which can be brought on my stress and anxiety. As I held Chyna in my arms, I gave our visitor food and water, which she eagerly gobbled down. Then, I decided to walk up my street with her to my neighbor Karen's house. Karen is as passionate animals as I am. So I wanted to get her advice on what to do next and possible no-kill shelters in the area, etc. Her husband and son were outside and shared with me that Karen was in bed sick with the flu. Then, her husband offered to let her stay in their fenced in yard for the night. Again, this was another answered prayer, since I had no idea where I was going to put her for the night, other than my basement, which would not have been ideal. With her safe for the night, I began researching for agencies to help me find her a good home and ran across this website. Honestly, I was skeptical and not getting my hopes up that anyone would actually contact me. But, I was so wrong! Less than six hours later, someone sent me a message, and the messages kept coming! The first person I talked said they lived four hours away, but were willing to drive here to pick up this sweet girl. My neighbor's son offered to meet her half way tonight. So, as I type this, she is on her way to her new, loving home to her new parents who are so excited to meet her! When they also shared with me that they had prayed to find her, I knew I had found the right home for this beautiful, sweet, and smart girl. I cannot thank Rescue Me enough for helping me, and most of all, helping 'Gretchen'.

I had been trying to re-home someone's dog for them for a couple of months. I had tried everyone that I knew in my 'dog community', local rescues and even national breed rescues. Either there was no response or just to ability to help. I came across Rescue Me by accident and decided to try it. Within 24 hours, I had 10 emails from interested people (and the emails kept coming!). Obviously, not all were a good fit, however, one stood out and shortly after all the questions, reference checks, etc. Jack was in his new home in about one week's time. Thanks for this wonderful site! It helped give a great dog a new great home!

My husband has always wanted a full blooded Black German Shepherd but as most people know they aren't cheap!! Our 15 year old and 14 year old babies passed away last summer and he recently decided he was ready to get another dog, but he was very specific about what kind of baby he wanted. As he described, the ideal dog, I was pretty sure this dog didn't exist and if we did find one that checked all his boxes, we would never be able to afford it. So, being the hard headed person I am, I secretly accepted the challenge, I started searching for months and months. Then I stumbled upon the Rescue Me page. I scrolled through the dogs available, and at last there was the dog he had been describing, my heart started pounding! Had I really found the dog of my husbands dreams? I sent an email, days went by and I was losing hope, I figured she was already taken and the post had just not been removed. Then I got the an email it was from the owner. She explained that she didn't see the email until just then. She sent me details about her baby and a picture. Viola, I had found the impossible!!! I was holding my breath as I asked the million dollar question, How much is the adoption fee? I couldn't believe it and even asked twice...... no adoption fee, they just wanted her to go to a good home! My prayers had been answered!!!!!! After, a few text messages back and forth, they agreed to let us have their baby. I wanted to surprise my husband. So, I suggested a road trip, we drove the three hours to their house where they were waiting for us in the front yard. When we drove up, my husbands eyes lit up like a little kid on Christmas morning. He said 'look at their dog it is gorgeous', with tears in my eyes, I looked at him and said 'no, look at YOUR dog' and the rest is just a life long dream, I got to bring true for my husband!!!

It couldn't have gone any better. I started receiving calls very quickly. Kuno seems to be a perfect fit with the family that adopted him. I tried to find him a home for the past few months and had zero responses on other sites. I found Rescue Me on a google search and like I said, it could not have gone better. His new Mom sends me pictures and is keeping in touch and Kuno is loving his new place as it is a farm. He loves to run and be outdoors. Kuno is smart and friendly and I'm sure they will have many years of family fun with him. Think you Rescue Me!

Thank you, Rescue Me. Sam was adopted today by a very loving woman. I knew she was the right one when we talked and she was in tears. Sam warmed right up to her and her boyfriend and jumped right into her car to take a ride. I will miss her and I will be sad for a while, but her new home sounds wonderful. God answers pray and today I got my prayer answered. Love you Sam and I hope that your new life is wonderful. Thank you for adopting Sam.

I want to thank GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE ME for helping me find a home for Buddy - our foster doggie. My vet suggested that I go to your website because help even mixed breeds find a home. I posted Buddy and a couple with dogs of their own adopted him yesterday. It only took four days - the way things had been going I thought he would never find a home. And that due various health issues I was already struggling with one large dog and could not manage two. The only thing that kept me sane was knowing he was with us - a loving family instead of at a shelter - even if it was a NO-KILL one. He had already spent most of his life in a cage and at a shelter he would have even less human contact. The same day while I was at work, a couple called the house and was very interested in Buddy. Their pure breed shepherd had just passed away a few days ago and they had gone to Rescue Me looking for a shepherd mix. Buddy fit the bill. So yesterday, they drove 50 miles one way / 100 miles both ways with a few of their doggies to check out Buddy. All doggies got along well together and so Buddy went with them. He was going to be a very happy indoor/outside dog and have the same kind of life we gave him for they also treat their doggies like family members. The one thing they asked before taking Buddy with them was if we would take Buddy back should they change their minds. While I tried unsuccessfully since taking Buddy in to get my hubby to agree with that - he agreed to it on the spot. You could knock me over with a feather. After Buddy left I noticed that while he wouldn't admit it - hubby was missing him. It felt really good that I was able to find a home for Buddy thanks to your group. Before posting everywhere I turned no one was interested. And believe me we had so many people spreading the word. Between various family members, friends, WORLD OF WARCRAFT players, national LARPing people, various US CELLULAR users/workers and Facebook the word was spread over many states and even into Canada. The only problem I had with your site - I wanted to personally adopt them all. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Shortly after I posted 'Hunter' on the Rescue Me site, I started receiving a lot of emails and text messages from interested people. The majority were previous German Shepherd owners who had vast knowledge base of German Shepherd behaviors and quirks. We shared a lot of stories about our dogs and I received a lot of good tips. Hunter was ultimately adopted by a trainer who will be able to make the best use of his 'personality' as a working dog. I will definitely make use of the Rescue Me site when we are ready to find another German Shepherd that matches our lifestyle.

This sweet precious girl was adopted this past Sunday! Her picture spoke to the heart of the woman who adopted her. Ash had been previously house trained, but has been outside for several years. After her first inquiry, she decided to keep looking. She called again and said that she would like to meet Ash. She had been to meet several others in person, but still had Ash in her heart, even though they had yet to meet. So this past Sunday afternoon, the lady met Ash and it was love at first sight! Ash has a new forever home complete with both two-legged and four-legged playmates! Thank you, Rescue Me for helping this wonderful girl find her forever home!

Rescue Me is very helpful finding new homes for dogs. In my case, I found a stray and fostered him in hope to find his original owner. After several weeks, I began to lose hope of finding his owner and had to find a home for him. Since SPCA no longer deals with strays, I had no idea what to do and was NOT about to take him to the animal shelter. Lucky for me and Rafi's new owner, I stumbled upon this website doing a Google search. The new owner currently has two other dogs and I know he is in a fantastic setting!

Wow, I am so grateful to Rescue Me. We rescued Sasha from a shelter just in time on the same day she was to be put down. She was surrendered by an owner who they told me could no longer afford her. I was somewhat shocked when I saw a gorgeous purebred dog who was so sweet. We ended up having Sasha for almost two years and had ads up and then down, due to the high volume of people who were not right for her or she was not right for them. So, meanwhile, we enjoyed her great company until the other day when Ray called. It sounded like a blessing, the perfect fit for Sasha. He had had two German Shepherds who had died and was now looking to rescue two more - a male and a female. So now, not only will Sasha have the perfect owners who will take great care of her and spoil her, but she will also have a companion dog. We are so happy for Sasha but sad for us, because we will truly miss her. It pays to hold out for the perfect owner!

Hi, Jeff. Our family just moved into our new home. We have lots of yard space, and the kids and my wife wanted a dog. We needed a dog who was good with kids, could guard our property, and keep the children company. After we fenced the place, I was on Google, surfing through adoption websites. I came across Rescue Me and saw Liekah. She was a young German Shepherd, and I immediately phoned to set up an appointment. We drove two hours to meet with Gavin and Liekah. She was beautiful, and, no two ways about it, we adopted her. We love her because she makes us feel safe, and she loves us because we make her feel safe - a perfect match. Thank you, Gavin, for allowing us to adopt her, and thank you, Jeff, for a great website. Wesley

I am thankful for your Rescue Me site! My son brought Penny to live with us in January, and we were looking forward to getting her. We never thought Penny and our Labrador Retriever would not get along. They got into several really bad fights, and the last time my husband and I were trying to separate them my husband was bitten on the hand by our Lab. We tried everything to make them become friends, but we had no luck. We did not want Penny to be confined in a pen the rest of her life. We are so thankful for your site. Penny now has a wonderful family and plenty of land to run and play.

We saw Dodge, now Malibu, and instantly fell in love. Malibu really rescued us. She is the sweetest girl, and we are so lucky that she has become a part of our family. Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt this wonderful pup. She is doing great! She is so happy that she almost knocks herself over from wagging her tail. She loves her sisters, Coconut and Kourtney. She has brought life back into our home. Thank you again for everything you do. You are truly a hero for helping these precious fur babies find their forever homes.

Thanks to Rescue Me, our German Shepherd, Khan, was adopted! Being a military family, it was difficult to give our Khan enough exercise and room to run. We hated having him cooped up in a small yard, but thanks to Rescue Me Khan was adopted by a lovely gentleman who owns an 80 acre farm. We just posted her on your site last Tuesday, and Wednesday morning we were getting contacted by a potential adopter! The best part of the story, which shows it was meant to be, is that the family's previous dog had an uncanny resemblance to Sunshine. The family loves her and are happy to have her join their family.      I wanted to say what a wonderful resource Rescue Me has been in helping my family find the newest addition to our gang, a beautiful two year old white German Shepherd mix named Chloe. We thought finding the right rescue pet would be difficult, especially with small children in the house, but you made it easy and fun. Through your wonderfully organized website, we found Rescue Village, which saves Shepherds & Shepherd mixes from desperate situations and finds them forever homes. The lengthy questionnaire led to the proprietor of Rescue Village being able to identify a dog with just the right temperament for our family. We can't wait to give our Chloe the life she has always deserved. Thank you for being the best starting point, the easiest website to navigate, and ultimately our connection to the newest member of our family!!

A giant thank you to Rescue Me for helping us find our new fur baby. After the loss of our last beloved dog, we were not sure if we were ready for a new family member. After many searches for the 'right one,' Bailey, now named Bubba as my husband refers to her, found us as we searched through the pages. At 10 months old Bubba is so loving and gentle. We are grateful for Betsy and her family for having the heart to rescue her, for guiding her to be the dog she has become, and for allowing us to adopt her. Bailey is such a well mannered young lady with a giant heart. Thank you, Rescue Me.

Roxy was adopted by a wonderful lady yesterday. She will now have the attention and exercise she so deserves. I have already received a text from Roxy's new owner telling me that Roxy and her Chihuahua are buddies and she has taken Roxy to work with her so as she doesn't feel abandoned! Wonderful! Being a volunteer at a local humane society, I must say I find Rescue Me to be a great platform for finding homes for special dogs. I have had many working breeds, understand their intelligence, need for exercise and their extreme loyalty, so I wanted to make sure Roxy went to a home that understands German Shepherds. The Rescue Me platform helped us do that, I think a lot of people get pets without researching the breed and the animal eventually ends up at the pound. Because of Rescue Me we can now rest peacefully knowing Roxy is in loving hands and we can also stay in touch with her new owner!

We have always bought our German Shepherd puppies from breeders here in South Africa, until I saw a posting of a dog on Dogtown with a liver problem which made me visit them and eventually adopt her. She needed a lot of medication and special food which I made myself, but it was worth every penny. When she died six months later of a heart attack we were devastated. That was when I registered on Rescue Me to receive emails of German Shepherd dogs available for adoption. Not long after that, Loki's picture appeared on the website of Rescue Me with a note that he might have to go to the SPCA if not adopted which made me decide to try and adopt him. I contacted the owner, we exchanged e-mails and phone calls after which she brought her dog to our home. It took some time for the dogs, we already had two of our own, to get to know each other, but at the end it was a very good match. Loki is a lovely dog and we were so happy that the owner entrusted her dog to us. Thank you Jeff for hosting a site where people who want the best for their pets when they are not able to give them a loving home anymore, are able to find others who will love and care for them. Adoption is now my first choice and I am glad that I will be able to inform other people about the success of Rescue Me.

Wren found a wonderful family to adopt her. They are experienced German Shepherd owners who I felt understood her needs and were able to bond with her right away. They have a large fenced yard and three other large dogs for her to play with. They also have plans to do obedience work with her, as well as take her jogging. Thank you so much for this service you provide to link people and dogs together. You kept Wren from going to a shelter!
