We are so happy to welcome Tuck into our home. The previous owners wrote an honest, thorough description of their much loved pet, and made every effort to work with us on pet introductions, medical records and delivery. Their cooperation and caring made it possible for this sweet German Shepard to skip any shelter time, leaving much needed space for less fortunate animals. I first saw Tuck on Rescue Me and resolved to either find a home for her, a more desirable place, or adopt her myself. In two short weeks, her intelligence, good nature and desire to please has been essential to merging into our pack. It hasn't been perfect, but with gentle resolve, boundaries and lots of love, we are glad to say we could not have adopted a better dog. Please note Tuck is six years old. She is a seasoned, well trained pet, and positive proof that adopting an older dog can be a huge success in all ways.

We really didn't want to have to re-home Mae, but she just wasn't comfortable with our small child. Through Rescue Me, we were able to connect with a K-9 trainer. Mae is entering into her new life as a working dog and I sincerely believe that this will fulfill her working needs and give her the quality of life she deserves. We were contacted and worked with the adopter to make the transition smooth for everyone. Of course, tears were shed, but minimized by the fact that we knew she was entering into a great new life. I would absolutely recommend this site as a way to re-home your pet and connect with people that can provide a home that meets their needs. Just remember to please screen your potential adopters carefully and call on references provided. Thank you!

We were able to find Bella a good home with an amazing owner in less than four hours after posting on Rescue Me!! We could not have asked for a better outcome. We look forward to getting updates from Bella and her new owner in the near future. Thank you so much, Jeff, for creating this portal to help find the animals new homes.

I wanted to share my story to help encourage others trying to find a home for their pets. I tried everything and had almost given up finding a home for our puppy. I am so thankful that I came across Rescue Me! I found the perfect family for our puppy and couldn't be more pleased. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found out about this site. I think it's a wonderful thing that Rescue Me is doing to help people in finding homes for their pets or people looking to adopt. We have a terrible problem with people dumping animals out on us and it just got to where we couldn't afford to feed everyone while trying to take care of our family. I feel really good that I did my very best for our puppy and I couldn't have done it without Rescue Me. Thank you!!

All 7 dogs are living the good life as loving family pets! Rescue Me made this beautiful thing possible and donations are coming your way!

Our family was looking for a well-mannered, adult dog after having recently lost our husky to cancer. When I saw this doggie's adorable face on the Rescue Me website, I knew I had to meet her. Her foster mom made that very easy. I brought my new dog home the next day, and she loves it here! We go on long walks several times a day. She is so smart and sweet. Thank you, Rescue Me!

My wife and I met Gypsi today and immediately fell in love. This five year old female was standoffish initially, but she loved to be petted by my wife. Gypsi came from a loving home and it could be observed in her manners. She is a beautiful, alert, and loving GSD. We hope to have her for a long time. Even our black lab took to her immediately. Thanks, Rescue Me, for the opportunity to 'rescue' this beautiful animal.

We adopted Kate, a five year old German Shepherd dog, from Rescue Me three years ago. She was a great dog and we loved her. Kate died a few weeks ago. We missed having a dog in our lives so we again turned to Rescue Me. We got alerts from several states but found Makwa, a three year old German Shepherd, nearer to us. We picked him up yesterday. Thank you, Rescue Me.

We are happy to announce that Bello got adopted yesterday. We looked at a lot of different options, but it was through Rescue Me that we were able to find a loving couple to adopt Bello. He needs a lot of attention, space and exercise. So, we were concerned where he may end up. The couple has two acres and had been thinking of looking for a GSD. After visiting the site, they contacted me and we set up a meeting for the wife to come and see Bello. She saw Bello and decided to take him the same day. She sent us pictures of him in his new home. He looks happy and very excited. I'm sure he is happy and content and will enjoy running around the two acres.

Buddy was found as a stray in extremely poor condition. The person who found him was not able to keep him, was only able to get him off the streets. He was then relocated with a young man. Unfortunately, the landlord would not allow him to keep him. Then a babysitter was added to the mix, and that's where I came in. I saw him being walked and commented on the dog. He needed a home. They were unsuccessful, tried all they know, and were fearing they might have to put him down. So, Buddy came home with me. After trying approximately 60 different names, we kept Buddy which is what the babysitter was calling him. He seemed to like it well enough. This poor dog, approx eight years old, did not know any of the basic commands. He didn't know what a toy was or even a milk bone. He had gained weight, but he was still horribly thin. Veterinarian visit showed worms, but no heart worm. We treated and started on preventative. Buddy is a great dog, however, was never taught not to kill cats, chickens and squirrels. Not only did he kill seven chickens, almost got a few barn cats, and house cats (who were subsequently locked in the basement). He scaled fences, broke through large inside wire kennels, opened house doors, and so on. He also was not into human contact. He accepted it, but either way was okay with him. After working with Buddy a few weeks, (with our house cats still in the basement and pretty mad at that!), he caught a chicken and brought it to me still alive. Huge Progress! He also learned to sit, to lay, and fetch. Oh, he knows what toys are now, and is loving pets and scratching and loving the affection. Thanks to this site, Buddy was placed today in his new home. He was not an easy one to place. It had to be just the right person willing to continue his training. Buddy came from a really dark place but, thanks to Rescue me, his remaining days will be happy.

We wanted to find the 'right' home with good people who would love and care for Kojak. We are happy to say we found a great couple/family who adopted him. They stay in touch and keep us updated with news and photos. I also liked that we could carefully screen interested adopters. Rescue Me allowed us to safely interview interested adopters and rehome Kojak with new, loving owners.

I posted Rebel on the Rescue Me site and he was adopted a week later to a loving, young couple who will give him the TLC Rebel needs. They have plenty of room for him to run and play. I wouldn't have been able to find such caring people if it was not for Rescue Me. I had numerous people all over the state interested in adopting Rebel. I even had one out of state inquiring about him. With Rescue Me, it is a blessing to see people rescuing a dog in need of a loving home, instead of buying from a breeder or puppy mill. Bless you all for opening up your hearts to the animals in need. 18th century German philosopher Immanuel Kant said, 'We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.' Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Albert Schweitzer said, 'It is man's sympathy with all creatures that first makes him truly a man'. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, for thinking of the animal in need. God bless you all!

I appreciate everyone who responded to my post on Sarge. Sarge has been adopted to a great, loving home where he will be loved and cared for physically and mentally. He is also to be trained for search and rescue! With myself being an E911 dispatcher, I know from personal experience how useful a trained dog is, especially for a small child missing or an elderly person confused! It gives me great pleasure, comfort and peace of mind that Sarge will be trained to do what he was actually bred to do and he can possibly save a life! If it wasn't for Rescue Me, I would have not found a person who is so passionate about training dogs for search and rescue missions. He also shared a few of his stories about previous dogs he trained and still has that has rescued or saved someone. It brought tears to my eyes and comfort to my heart!! Thanks for all the help!!!! I will also be allowed to keep a check on Sarge and get updates on his progress which makes me feel even more pleased!!!! I can't say it enough, THANKS!!!!

Duke was adopted the day after I posted him on Rescue Me. The lady who adopted him was very excited to find a German Shepherd since she looks only for that breed to train as a rescue dog. She wanted a dog with a non-aggressive personality who could socialize with other dogs. Duke was a perfect fit. I knew he needed someone who would be willing to spend time training him. He has a lot of energy and is smart; I'm sure he will do well. He seemed to accept his surroundings and his new owner as soon as we got there. I have her contact information so I can follow up to see how he is doing. This website did the trick.

Your service was an answer to my prayers! The sweet baby that I brought home off the streets of a not-so-good neighborhood found a loving home in less than 24 hours after posting her pic and information on Rescue Me. I was driving home from work yesterday evening. I work as a counselor at an elementary school. On my way home, I saw some kids with a beautiful German Shepherd. Then, all of a sudden, she ran across the street, right in front of me, with me almost hitting her. I thought she must belong to the kids, until I noticed that no one came after her to retrieve her, which I thought was odd. So, I turned around and drove back to check on her. I saw her walking along with the two older girls. So, I pulled over and said that I was glad that she was okay and that she belonged to someone. I also noticed how skinny she was. I could easily see her ribs and backbone from my car which made known that something was not right. They immediately told me that she was not their dog, and that she was just following them, and that they did not want her, and asked me if I wanted her. At that point, I knew that I had to try to help her. So, I told them, 'Yes, I will help her, if they would help me get her into my car.' Well, she got right in without much effort on our part at all. I really did not have a plan. But, I knew that I could not leave her there, a neighborhood known for dog fighting and using non-aggressive dogs as bait. So, we get home and she meets my two cats and my little Yorkie, Chyna, who is not happy at all to see a dog whose head is the size of her! I immediately knew that I would not be able to keep her with Chyna, who is prone to seizures, which can be brought on my stress and anxiety. As I held Chyna in my arms, I gave our visitor food and water, which she eagerly gobbled down. Then, I decided to walk up my street with her to my neighbor Karen's house. Karen is as passionate animals as I am. So I wanted to get her advice on what to do next and possible no-kill shelters in the area, etc. Her husband and son were outside and shared with me that Karen was in bed sick with the flu. Then, her husband offered to let her stay in their fenced in yard for the night. Again, this was another answered prayer, since I had no idea where I was going to put her for the night, other than my basement, which would not have been ideal. With her safe for the night, I began researching for agencies to help me find her a good home and ran across this website. Honestly, I was skeptical and not getting my hopes up that anyone would actually contact me. But, I was so wrong! Less than six hours later, someone sent me a message, and the messages kept coming! The first person I talked said they lived four hours away, but were willing to drive here to pick up this sweet girl. My neighbor's son offered to meet her half way tonight. So, as I type this, she is on her way to her new, loving home to her new parents who are so excited to meet her! When they also shared with me that they had prayed to find her, I knew I had found the right home for this beautiful, sweet, and smart girl. I cannot thank Rescue Me enough for helping me, and most of all, helping 'Gretchen'.

I am thankful for your Rescue Me site! My son brought Penny to live with us in January, and we were looking forward to getting her. We never thought Penny and our Labrador Retriever would not get along. They got into several really bad fights, and the last time my husband and I were trying to separate them my husband was bitten on the hand by our Lab. We tried everything to make them become friends, but we had no luck. We did not want Penny to be confined in a pen the rest of her life. We are so thankful for your site. Penny now has a wonderful family and plenty of land to run and play.

We saw Dodge, now Malibu, and instantly fell in love. Malibu really rescued us. She is the sweetest girl, and we are so lucky that she has become a part of our family. Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt this wonderful pup. She is doing great! She is so happy that she almost knocks herself over from wagging her tail. She loves her sisters, Coconut and Kourtney. She has brought life back into our home. Thank you again for everything you do. We just posted her on your site last Tuesday, and Wednesday morning we were getting contacted by a potential adopter!      I wanted to say what a wonderful resource Rescue Me has been in helping my family find the newest addition to our gang, a beautiful two year old white German Shepherd mix named Chloe. We thought finding the right rescue pet would be difficult, especially with small children in the house, but you made it easy and fun. Through your wonderfully organized website, we found Rescue Village, which saves Shepherds & Shepherd mixes from desperate situations and finds them forever homes. The lengthy questionnaire led to the proprietor of Rescue Village being able to identify a dog with just the right temperament for our family. We can't wait to give our Chloe the life she has always deserved. Thank you for being the best starting point, the easiest website to navigate, and ultimately our connection to the newest member of our family!!

A giant thank you to Rescue Me for helping us find our new fur baby. After the loss of our last beloved dog, we were not sure if we were ready for a new family member. After many searches for the 'right one,' Bailey, now named Bubba as my husband refers to her, found us as we searched through the pages. At 10 months old Bubba is so loving and gentle. We are grateful for Betsy and her family for having the heart to rescue her, for guiding her to be the dog she has become, and for allowing us to adopt her. Bailey is such a well mannered young lady with a giant heart. Thank you, Rescue Me.

Roxy was adopted by a wonderful lady yesterday. She will now have the attention and exercise she so deserves. I have already received a text from Roxy's new owner telling me that Roxy and her Chihuahua are buddies and she has taken Roxy to work with her so as she doesn't feel abandoned! Wonderful! Being a volunteer at a local humane society, I must say I find Rescue Me to be a great platform for finding homes for special dogs. I have had many working breeds, understand their intelligence, need for exercise and their extreme loyalty, so I wanted to make sure Roxy went to a home that understands German Shepherds. The Rescue Me platform helped us do that, I think a lot of people get pets without researching the breed and the animal eventually ends up at the pound. Because of Rescue Me we can now rest peacefully knowing Roxy is in loving hands and we can also stay in touch with her new owner!

We have always bought our German Shepherd puppies from breeders here in South Africa, until I saw a posting of a dog on Dogtown with a liver problem which made me visit them and eventually adopt her. She needed a lot of medication and special food which I made myself, but it was worth every penny. When she died six months later of a heart attack we were devastated. That was when I registered on Rescue Me to receive emails of German Shepherd dogs available for adoption. Not long after that, Loki's picture appeared on the website of Rescue Me with a note that he might have to go to the SPCA if not adopted which made me decide to try and adopt him. I contacted the owner, we exchanged e-mails and phone calls after which she brought her dog to our home. It took some time for the dogs, we already had two of our own, to get to know each other, but at the end it was a very good match. Loki is a lovely dog and we were so happy that the owner entrusted her dog to us. Thank you Jeff for hosting a site where people who want the best for their pets when they are not able to give them a loving home anymore, are able to find others who will love and care for them. Adoption is now my first choice and I am glad that I will be able to inform other people about the success of Rescue Me.

Wren found a wonderful family to adopt her. They are experienced German Shepherd owners who I felt understood her needs and were able to bond with her right away. They have a large fenced yard and three other large dogs for her to play with. They also have plans to do obedience work with her, as well as take her jogging. Thank you so much for this service you provide to link people and dogs together. You kept Wren from going to a shelter!

Rescue Me! was very helpful and Roxi has been adopted by a very nice young woman and I feel very happy with the results. She has gone to a great home and that was my goal as anyone who has to give up an animal. It's not easy, but when you know they're going to be loved and taken care the way I did, I am assured she is going to have a great life. Thank You Rescue Me!

They traveled 4 hours (one way) to meet Harley. Thank you so much for your wonderful web site! It made finding her a permanent home so easy. Yes, I will be sending you a donation. Thank you again for your love and devotion to such a wonderful, and often times misunderstood, breed of dogs!

I agonized over rehoming my dog. I was encouraged to begin receiving inquiries so quickly. Your recommendation to ask to speak to a potential family's Vet was excellent advice which was heeded. Mia is going to a wonderful family who lost their 13 year old Shepherd to cancer about a year ago. I was convinced by their scrapbook of cherished pet memories and wonderful stories that she will be happy having their undivided attention. It was tough to choose between such promising candidates as there are some very loving people willing to open their hearts & homes to a new member of the family. I would encourage others to look for a pet here first.

After only a few days on Rescue Me! I had numerous inquiries on Max and found a wonderful home for him. The family flew down from Northern Nevada and spent several days getting to know him so the transition would be easier. He loves them and they adore him! I will recommend Rescue Me! to anyone who needs to find a warm and loving home for their pet. My only advice is to make sure to carefully interview any prospective owners and make sure ahead of time if they have a suitable yard, will be crating the pet, or have another animal (or child) in the home that is aggressive.

I was looking for a playmate for my other male dog, Buddy, who is about 5 years old. I spotted Candy on your website and thought the two would make a great pair. She has learned many things already from Buddy and a few more things he doesn't know or do. We are very happy with Candy and the two play and run together like old friends. Candy has met other dogs on our daily walks and seems to be very friendly to all those she meets. Thank you for putting me in touch to place her in our home. She seems to be very happy to be sharing her new life with us.

Delgado was rescued by us at our neighborhood dog park. After getting him healthy and vaccinated we put him up for adoption on Rescue Me! We didn't require any money because we helped him out of the kindness of our hearts. The family that has him now has a great lake to take him to with doggie parties, and plenty of love with their daughter. I am so happy Rescue Me! helped us find a great home for this wonderful pooch.

Rescue Me! provides an important avenue for people who have hard to place pets. My Iris is 8 years old and is not friendly with cats. Several people we know loved her and wanted her, but most of them had cats. When people called about Iris they were concerned about her age and her aggressiveness with cats. It would take the right match and circumstance for her. We started looking for Iris a new home as soon as we realized we were moving to another country. Yesterday she went to her new home and her new friends, thanks to Rescue Me! Her new owner saw her on this site and drove two hours to meet her. We then set her up to visit him and it was a great match! My husband and I are grateful for the opportunity to ensure her safety and future. She is happier than she has ever been! Thank you! Regards, Marie

We were are at a great loss, and decided to adopt another German Shepherd. We came across Rescue Me! on the internet and found Toby. We decided this was the dog for us. We are so happy to have been able to rescue Toby, and look forward to him coming to us soon. The wait time was unbelievable, never expected to hear from Rescue Me! so quickly.      My German Shepherd crossed with Lab was in desperate need of a loving home with a big yard. After listing her on Rescue Me! I received a call from a gentleman that has a farm who was looking for a companion for his 9-year old Labrador. We took Sally to them over the weekend and the place was an absolute dream. Sally immediately felt at home, and loved nothing more than to run around and explore. We spent some time there to let her adapt to the new surroundings. Peter and his wife are extremely loving and caring people and they committed to loving Sally as much as we do. Judging from the way their other animals is being treated, I have no doubt that Sally found the best home ever.

We found Bella wandering in our rural area almost six months ago. I had seen her many times before close to our house, and thought she belonged to one of our neighbors. Then, one morning as I was on my way to work, I saw her out on the main highway. I was afraid she would get hit by a car, so I stopped and intended to coax her into my car and take her back, and later find out who owned her. She didn't need any coaxing, but whimpered and all but jumped into my arms. She was dirty and had some splotches of tar on her. We cleaned her up and took pictures of her and posted online and in the neighboring grocery store, vets office, laundry mat, etc. No one ever claimed Bella, so we posted her on Rescue Me! We didn't have too long to wait until a nice man called about Bella. After emailing back and forth, we chose a place to meet, and on a Saturday morning Bella met her new family. It was so very heartwarming and satisfying to find someone who will give her a forever home, and love her as much as she deserves! Thanks, Rescue Me!

Hi Jeff, So glad I found your site as I have adopted a beautiful 4 1/2 month old long haired german shepherd pup from Jodi and Mike, named Simba. Me and my sister made the 2 1/2 hour trip to pick him up. His mom and dad are wonderful, caring, loving people. They even sent me home with a care package of homemade doggie biscuits. Simba is doing wonderful and I'm just loving him to pieces. He is everything that Jodi described him as and better. Si is a perfect fit for me and will be spoiled and loved immensely. He did not know how to do steps, especially since I have 4 steps out back door which is a doggie door, and he mastered them beautifully. I will highly recommend Rescue Me! to others when searching for an animal. I love how easy it was to use and communicate with the parents. I will gladly make a donation to your cause, also. Thanks again to founder Jeff, as well as thanks to Jodi and Mike, Si's parents

After a thorough home check, reference check and numerous conversations, I drove the girl that I had rescued from the streets five months earlier to her new home. It was truly an amazing gift to have an outlet like Rescue Me! for individuals to showcase dogs that need a home.

Thank you for this wonderful site. As difficult as it was to have to put my Lady on Rescue Me! to be rescued, I am thankful that this was an option. Although many families showed interest, I met with the first family as they were very proactive in meeting Lady. They drove four hours, hopeful to take Lady back with them. I'm thankful that it was a good meeting, and Lady was able to join her new family. Visiting with her new 'parents' I know that she will be very well taken care of, loved and spoiled. I will move to another state with peace of mind that my sweet Lady will continue to provide companionship and love to another family.

'Rescue Me' was an awesome avenue for helping us find a good home for our beautiful German Shepherd! It only took about two weeks to find her a home, and we had multiple people contact us about her. Her new owners have even more ways to help her have lots of fun due to having a giant back yard, a swimming pool, etc. and the best thing about the whole deal is that they only live a couple hours away from where we are moving, and we will still be able to visit her anytime we want! This whole thing ended up being a blessing due to the fact that we were all heartbroken to have to find her a new home due to a job relocation in an area that considers German Shepherds aggressive breeds, but we will still be able to see her. Thank you 'Rescue Me!' for having such an awesome site that allows people to get help in certain situations that they may be in!

Decided to get kids a German Shepherd for xmas. We fostered one for three years (found on Rescue Me!) while family lived out of state. They were unable to take him, and when they moved back I gave him back to them. Was going to get a puppy, and then we saw this one. He looks like our old foster, and like the one my boyfriend used to own. Brought him home and he's doing great. Did great with our dog and cat, glad we took the chance with a young adult.

We had to find a new home for Ralph. My husband found him on the side of the road and brought him home, but he did not get along with our two other dogs. We did not want to post on Craigslist because of all the horror stories about people using Craigslist, and putting him in a shelter was not an option. We also did not want someone to keep him on a chain in their backyard. We felt if someone from the Rescue Me! site inquired about him, they were truly looking for a dog to be a part of their family. His new family drove over two hours, spent time with him, and both the family and Ralph were happy with each other... So home he went with them! They even called the next day to let us know how much they loved him, and how well he was adjusting. If I ever again need to put a dog up for adoption, it will be through Rescue Me! Thank you!

I have had Gunther since September 20, and it was truly the best decision I have ever made. He is the most loving and mild mannered dog. I have two granddaughters, with the youngest being five years old, and she has always been somewhat afraid of dogs because of them jumping on her. She was intimidated by Gunther at first because of his size, but now she adores Gunther and can't wait to come to my house on the weekends and play catch with him. I had a German Shepherd as a child and have always wanted to find another some day. I came across the Rescue Me! site by accident and am grateful for it. Thanks so much for Rescue Me!, it is wonderful, and now I have the most loyal companion. Annette

We saw this beautiful dog's picture on Rescue Me! and knew immediately that we wanted to save him and bring him into our family. He was in a kill shelter and was listed on the urgent list as one that could be put down within the next few days. After contacting the shelter and getting them to agree to put a hold on the dog for a few days, my wife and I took a day off of work and drove 6 hours to reach the shelter. Zeus appears to be a German Shepherd / Husky mix and is only a few months old. He is an extremely friendly and loving dog and is full of the normal puppy love. While we were driving home, he kept trying to climb up into the front seat with us, so my wife finally had to get in the back seat with him. He was just starving for the attention he had never received. Within five minutes, we both knew we had made the right decision on our newest family member. The hardest part of the entire day was seeing the other dogs in this shelter and knowing that some of them might never have a chance of a decent life, or know what it feels like to be loved and cared for. Thank you for all your organization does.

Hi, my baby girl Shay was posted on Rescue Me! and she has been adopted by a great couple. They allow her to run free on their 14 acres. They tell me she has a real knack for chasing rabbits back into their holes. I have been to visit her already, and plan to continue to go at least once a month. Though it truly broke my heart, the situation at our home with neighbors would not allow us to keep her, we know she is much better off. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the best decisions.
