I was looking at Rescue Me for a dog for my daughter. I saw Abbie on here. She was taken out of a bad situation. She was very shy and could not be put on a leash. Now she is much happier and walks fine on a leash. She is a blessing.

Jett's Legacy had Edwina for the better part of ten months. They took great care of her while waiting for the right adopter to come along. My husband and I love this dog already. She is very affectionate, housetrained and a wonderful companion. She has lots of personality. She loves to play and go for walks and car rides. Kathleen, of Jett's Legacy, answered all my emails and calls and worked with me to get to her as quick as possible. I am very grateful for Rescue Me. It made it so much easier to look for a forever companion. I had the site bookmarked and looked over your site daily. Thank you all for your work!

This was the best experience I could have hoped for. I posted on Rescue Me at 10:00 AM and the dog was adopted by 6:00 that evening. Site administrators were and have been in contact through the whole process. I hope never to have to use this site again (we loved the puppy we had to rehome) to give up an animal, but it's the ONLY site we will use if we are looking for another pet!

This handsome guy was adopted by a wonderful family in Mississippi as a surprise for their 10 year old son. What dog wouldn't want to have a 10 year old boy to play with and grow up with?! They live in the country with acreage to run and play on, and even a pond. Over the course of the past few months, we had quite a few people respond to Jupiter's posting, but never followed up to my replies, texts or phone calls. Eventually, a family that was sincere about adopting him, contacted me. I am happy that I renewed his post on Rescue Me and hopefully Jupiter has found his forever home and family!

I am delighted to tell you that our Samantha, my disabled sister's dog, was adopted last week. The couple she went to live in the next town, has experience with the breed, is ex-military, and is training her to be a Service Dog for PTSD. We could not have had a happier outcome, they are just the type of people we hoped for. Thanks again! Rescue Me is a terrific help. We tried for months to re-home her before finding you, and succeeded in finding the right dog parents very quickly. Couldn't let just anybody have her, which had previously complicated the process immensely.

I posted our dog, Rue, the first time and had an outpouring of people want to adopt but things didn't work out for a number of reasons. Then the second time I posted I had more people contact some with concern that she would be put down if not adopted. The whole reason I came to this site was because I tried my local trainers and friends and family and no one was able or interested in adopting her. I didn't want to lose Rue to 'the system'. Rue was rescued by my family three years ago and was on the verge of being put down at that time because she doesn't do well in shelter locations and she had been mistreated at her home which made her very skittish around humans. I liked that with Rescue Me her future was not a tunnel with a light at the end but a field with endless possibilities. Rue met her new family yesterday, Alyssa and Dakota, fantastic people who have giant hearts and their three other dogs, Nadia, Bo and Ivory. It was honestly the hardest thing I ever had to do, leaving Rue, but I know she is in great hands and that is more than I can say for the dogs left in shelters forgotten by their previous owners.

I saw the post for Max on the Rescue Me website and was saddened to read the story about him losing his owner. I lost my German Shepherd, King, last November. There has been a void in my house ever since. I contacted Rescue Me to let them know I was interested in meeting Max and was put in touch with the Director of Working Dogs Rescue. They were responsible for placing Max in a good home. Turns out Max was staying about an hour from where I live and after several emails and telephone calls, my lady friend and I were able to meet Max where he was staying. He took us immediately and we became very hopeful that Max would soon be part of our family. A week later, Max was brought to our home for a home visit and those who brought him were amazed at how comfortable Max was with us. They made a few calls and it was determined that if we were ready for him and still wanted him, he could stay with us immediately. It has been a little over a week and Max is settling in just fine. He has already had the opportunity to meet some of the other dogs in the neighborhood and has made new friends with them all. That void we were feeling has been filled and we are happy that Max decided to choose us for his new family. We felt comfortable with the whole process we went through to be able to take responsibility for Max. Everyone was great. Max is a great dog and we will gladly give him a great home and life. Thanks to all involved!

We had to post our nine year old female Shepherd, Sophie, due to our grandchildren will be moving in with us and she doesn't do well with children. I posted here on Rescue Me on Wednesday night and she was adopted by Sunday. I couldn't of asked for a more caring and loving home for her. I believe she is getting more love and attention than she has ever had. It was a perfect fit and I can't be happier and at peace knowing this.

I love Shepherds! I raised the breed and trained them. They are all gone and I have for years wanted another. I decided to get one! I got ripped off 1100. I decided to look around at dog pounds went to several of them. I also had people looking around. I heard of one here and there, but when I got to the places the dogs had already been adopted or sold. For many weeks, I tried and reserched many sites. Then, I ran across Rescue Me and started looking. I ran into a lady with Sophie and talked to her. She said a lady was going to look at her today and if she didn't want her she would let me know. I was hoping she wouldn't take her. Yesterday, she called and said she got another dog and it's all downhill now! Sophie has a wonderful family with all the love she wants to have and the lady can come see her or call me anytime to check on her. I could have never asked for a better Shepherd! She's so special and precious. I want to thank everyone involved with this the site and the wonderful people I got her from. God bless you all!

We contacted the owner of Shadow and set up a time to see him. He was in poor condition and needed medical attention. We picked him up right then, and scheduled a visit to the vet the next morning. He was treated for a yeast infection in his ears, fleas and a skin allergy, given all his shots, tested for heart worms, and other worms. He was put on heart worm medication, flea medication and special shampoo for his skin problems. We had him 10 days and scheduled him to be neutered. That was done last week, and so far, Shadow is doing fine after surgery. He has to go back at the end of this week to have his staples removed and checked out. He's gained about ten pounds and looks amazingly better. He's very hyper and loves his new home on the farm. He's gotten along pretty good with the cattle and the chickens, but he's no lover of cats. Time will fix that. He's a fast learner and so happy to please. He's learned to sit and lay down and get in the truck to go to the fields and check cattle with just simple commands. Super smart dog and we are so happy to have him. Thank you, Rescue Me!

Rescue Me was Heaven sent. It has been the only site that I received results from or any answers for that matter. For three years, I have been searching for the right family for Holly, my GSD. I had written several sites about Holly's situation and my anxiety of keeping her after she attacked a neighbor's Beagle just four months after I adopted her at age two. Holly is super smart, super sweet and absolutely gorgeous. It was not her fault that she had never been socialized to other dogs or properly trained. I went through a few trainers that helped with her, however, not with me and my anxiety. I was no longer able to take her out for walks and experienced daily fear and anxiety about her getting out and attacking a dog without even knowing if she would ever do that again. Rescue Me gave me many leads. I talked to and met many people, but again, I was only willing to re-home her into the PERFECT situation. I found that perfect situation last Friday! Holly is now living with a family that has had experience with three German Shepherds, She lives on 40 acres in the country! Holly will be much loved and can now live out the remainder of her life to her full potential that she so deserves! Thank you!

Never in a million years did I think it would be so easy to find a good family to adopt our dog. When I registered with this service I doubted that folks would reach out to us. I posted my pet on the 17th of this month. Within a couple of hours, I received numerous inquiries and continued to receive inquiries as of this morning. Today, the 22nd, our beautiful dog was adopted by a wonderful home. Seeing the instant response rate, meeting and talking with so many potential new owners took much of the stress off my children, who had to part with a pet that has long become a part of our family. Words cannot express how deeply grateful I am that Rescue Me exists. Thank you!!

Thank you to Rescue Me for helping a wonderful dog find a wonderful family today! We picked up a gorgeous German Shepherd at a roadside gas station late at night in a snow storm and we brought him home. He seemed to have been abandoned, and he had no micro-chip. Since we have two dogs already, we weren't in a great position to take him in for good. We bought him a kennel and kept him for a couple days, playing with him tons and giving him a nice bath. Within hours of posting him for adoption on this site, I had several inquiries via email! The adopters came today to check him out, and they seem to be a great match. They feel so blessed by this rescue site. This is a terrific website for matching pets to owners!

Thanks, Rescue Me! He is the best. We only have had him one day and at nine weeks already knows sit, stay and come. He also went on his first walk and did really well. He wasn't sure what a leash was at first, but after two minutes, he wanted to follow. He weaves a little, that's to be expected, but I'm confident after a few days he will know his place is on the left. He just had a bath and is snuggling in his blanket. Now we are deciding to keep his name as it was in the photo or the name that was actually given to him. I suppose his responsiveness will let us know. We can't thank you enough. He's a welcome addition to our family and he has so much more to explore in the coming years.

I rescued these two gorgeous girls. I did not plan on having two puppies, but they were sisters, and I wanted them to be together. I wanted to find a home that would be familiar with this breed, and make sure there would be plenty of space for them to run and play, and that the person would have time to train these five month old puppies. I posted them on Rescue Me with their breed. I had several emails, and took the time to find the perfect home for them. They now have their perfect forever home, with a loving couple, that has the time and patience for these two young puppies, and they know the breed well. I spent a long time speaking with them to make sure they knew what they were getting themselves into, and they were so pleased when they met them, and watched them play. I will miss them, but I know they have the best place and this was a good decision for their best interest. Thank you, Rescue Me!

We picked up our beautiful, white Shepherd/Lab mix today. She is a bit timid, probably gone through a lot of trauma in her young 10 months, but we feel assured that we can gain her confidence with our love and compassion. Rescue Me is very helpful, and Heather, who we received the dog from, was so thoughtful and caring for our baby. She showered us with toys, gifts, treats, collar, harness, micro chip, etc. This adoption was a beautiful experience and we thank everyone who was involved. -Rick and Lindsay

I spent several frustrating days combing the local animal shelters for a puppy or young GSD mix, without luck. The dogs were either patently Pit Bulls or Pit mixes (they are just not my breed), or older than my husband wanted to commit to. It took him 10 years to get over our last dog passing and be ready for a new dog, so I had to respect his desire to have a dog with its whole life ahead of it. I got in touch with a couple of local breeders, but pure bred puppies are much more than I want to fork over, when all I really want is a healthy dog with a calm disposition. Then I searched google and the German Shepherd section of Rescue Me came up. I found a number of great candidates a couple hours away. After emailing about several promising possibilities, we made arrangements to drive to meet two of them. The first dog was just not going to be fit for us temperament wise (it needed a home with other dogs in my opinion), but the second one was a match made in heaven. I wanted a dog with the right temperament to be a good therapy dog, and Mystic's foster Mom had just commented to the organizer at Working Dogs Rescue that she would make a great therapy dog. Mystic totally fell for my husband (we have that in common!). We applied, got home inspected, and 24 hours after meeting her, Mystic came home with us. Thank you, Rescue Me!

I had Shadow for about three weeks or a little more. When he got to me, I know he needed a lot of love better care. I posted everywhere about him in hopes of finding a great home for him. Yes, I was being very picky as well because Shadow is a great boy. I had to make sure he would be placed in a good forever home. Plenty of calls came from Rescue Me, and finally a family came. Shadow really connected with them was extra loving towards them. I could tell they were amazing fur baby owners. I am forever thankful to them. I am heartbroken since he is no longer with me, but I couldn't keep him and he deserves the best. It was hard getting up at 5:00 AM and not have him there waiting to greet me and give me kisses. But in my heart, I know he is in a great loving home.

First, I would like to, personally, thank Kathy, a very thoughtful, kind, considerate and caring volunteer. She knew of a 'very special person who would love to give Gunther a home. I felt it, only right, to await requests from interested parties, before considering her insight and knowledge about that 'very special person.' I received a number of requests, each wanting to give Gunther the perfect home. I would like to thank everyone who contacted me. Gunther is unlike most, if not all, GSD's up for adoption. He is a West German bred, high drive, high energy pup. All who contacted me, claimed to have knowledge and experience, in raising a high energy, high drive, 11 month old GSD pup, bred in West Germany. I thoroughly researched import GSD's before making the decision to pay a premium price for an authentic GSD. Having had the honor to work and train him for the past ten months has been a rewarding challenge and one that I enjoyed. I never imagined the day would come when I'd have to make the extremely heartbreaking decision to find him another 'very special person.' Life is full of twists and turns. And, I found myself, having to make a decision, that was unexpected, overwhelming, and seemed impossible. All, but two, interested parties, seemed to vanish, when I responded, in great detail, to their adoption requests. I contacted each person, and, in great detail, made them aware of the responsibilities in owning and training an import GSD. They are not your average, US bred, German Shepherd Dog. They are highly intelligent, high energy, high drive dogs. An import GSD is not for everyone. I quickly learned, most had, little, if any knowledge, on West German, hard drive, working line GSD's. This made my difficult decision, even more difficult. I wasn't simply placing a GSD; I was placing my GSD... An eleven month old, import, that I had painstakingly, and patiently worked and trained over the past, nearly ten months. He knew commands in, both, German and English. Training wasn't always easy, but I never gave in or gave up. I spent every waking hour with him, molding him into a pup, I believed that could, and would achieve his highest potential, if placed in the hands of a 'very special person.' That individual contacted me shortly after I posted on Rescue Me. Many others followed, while he and I began a flurry of emails. He knew my high expectations, and I knew what he was looking for in a GSD. Through those emails, I learned he had been involved in Schutzhund/IPO for thirty years, and had titled his GSD. With his extensive background, knowledge and experience in Schutzhund/IPO club membership, and having titled his GSD, I still wasn't certain he was that 'special person that I had been searching for. After all, Gunther was a, 'momma's boy.' Yesterday, we met, and he spent a great deal of time with Gunther. Within the first fifteen minutes, I realized he and Gunther had already formed a 'special bond.' They were working as one, each enjoying the others company. Gunther performed all that this 'special person' had expected him to do. Call it fate, call it Devine intervention, call it God's work, but, whatever it is called, their chance meeting, was meant to be. They were meant to be together. I was, both happy and saddened as I watched them work together, as if they'd been training together for nearly ten months. Almost instantly, he loved and adored Gunther. And, Gunther responded in kind. Watching them work, I quickly realized Gunther had, once again, put his love, faith and trust in the hands of another. Gunther was no longer my shadow. This brought tears and also began a relationship I had been praying for. My heart broke as Gunther was loaded into this 'very special persons' vehicle. I stood in the driveway, heartbroken, with tears streaming down my cheeks, as they drove out of sight. As painful as this was, I realized Gunther, now, had a new owner who'd not only love him as much as I do, but had the training, knowledge, skills and experience to make Gunther the best that he could be. This was something, I could not offer Gunther. Gunther will now be given the opportunity to be the best that he can be. I had no right to hold him back. I know in my heart, with the help of 'this special person,' Gunther will begin doing all that he was bred to do. Thank you Rescue Me, Kathy and that 'very special person.' Respectfully, Patricia

When I first saw Batman on the site, and then had communications with the contact and the foster family, I knew that I had to meet Batman. Upon his arrival, Batman made fast friends with my kids and I and our other dog. We have since adopted Batman and can't imagine him not being part of our family. The process is well laid out and easy to follow. Everyone involved in the Rescue Me organization are great and full of information.

After 12 years together, I recently loss my two canine companions. I knew adoption was the best way to save another furry friend. When I read Ken's heartbreaking posting of seeking a new home for his 'best friend', my heart sank to the floor. I knew I had to reach out. Several weeks of correspondence led to Pony Boy choosing my family. (Ok the owner had 50% of the decision making) He is a perfect addition to our 'pack.' Our family has grown with Pony Boy and the extension of the previous owner, Ken! Thank you, REscue Me, for this fantastic forum.

Bear came into our home yesterday and seems to be relieved to be out of the shelter. Here and there, we're seeing little parts of his true personality emerge (like burying his bones in my comforter lol) and it's a sign to us that he's happy. Animal Services did an awesome job with him, changing him from aggressive to mild mannered and just happy to be sitting next to anyone willing to pet him and show him some love. I took him for a walk yesterday and he was amazing. He never left my side and never pulled on the chain; I was actually surprised. We have a large fenced in backyard, but he prefers to be around people. Despite my many attempts to play with him, Bear runs back inside to see what everyone is up to. Currently, he is sleeping on my bed and soon he is going to get his first bath so we can get that kennel smell off of him. That will be another new experience in his new forever home. Thank you, Rescue Me for featuring Bear on your site and for connecting us to Fulton County Animal Services. It has been a great experience for everyone, particularly Bear.

I posted an 11 year old German Shepherd for adoption with a prayer an angel would show up to adopt him. He is not my dog; I was posting for someone else. He had been chained out all his life. He never experienced a bath. And by the way, he is blind. Despite this, he had a wonderful demeanor, standing tall and looking gorgeous. A young man felt compassion for his story that a veteran of the army was the one surrendering him. His heart connected with his special needs, and was so handsome! That young man sacrificed some things, no doubt. The Shepherd had his first warm bath and blow dry, nail trim, and rode to his new home wearing a brand new collar, lying on a new blanket, with a new, better diet. He has a life in his new home with his very own pet cats who rub his face! His vet appointment will determine his future health. Perhaps if things go well now, he will get help for his eyes because his condition is unique. Time will tell. I have never stopped my prayers. Thank you, Rescue Me!

I have been rescuing puppies from the Island of Aruba for the past 15 years. In Aruba, they do not spay and neuter their dogs. The island is overpopulated with stray dogs that are starving in the streets. Many owned dogs have puppies that are unwanted. Many unwanted puppies and dogs are brought to a place call 'the Kill Cages' where they leave their puppies, dogs, kittens in a hot room with no water or food. There is no human supervision at this place and the next morning a man comes and kills the animals. Some are not even dead yet when they throw them in the back of a pickup truck and throw them in the dump. So, I save as many pups as I can. I take them to the vet in Aruba, have their blood and stool tests, then antibiotics, vaccinations and dewormed. Then, if healthy, get them health certificates and bring them back to the States for another vet visit, fostering, and eventual adoption to good forever homes. I also assisted this past month with a major spay/neuter program, there called Operation Cunucu where we spayed and neutered 338 dogs. Additionally, I help raise funds for a local shelter and spay/neuter clinic and help a cat rescue program. This is the first time I used Rescue Me to try to find homes for these gentle pups, and it was quite successful in finding a lovely family to adopt this precious pup. Although I do this on my own, I do an adoption application, a meet and greet with the pups then a home visit to make sure the home is a good one. Any chance you can add Aruba Cunucu to the breed of dogs on your list? It is hard to figure where these pups belong in terms of breed. They are mixed breed descended from the Iberian Hound and Portuguese Pendango that were brought by explorers in the 1600s and Arowak Indian dogs that were native to the island. Thank you for your efforts in helping all these animals to find forever homes.

We got Reever from his second home who did not have time for him. He is very under socialized, but has been learning quickly and has adapted to our family and life wonderfully. We are lucky to have such an amazing dog. He was intimidating at first due to his size and deep bark, but with a lot of hard work, patience and love he will do great he is already on the path. Best dogs ever... Get a GSD!!! Every family should own one and every child should grow up with one! Thanks, Rescue Me.

About two months ago, we lost our German Shepherd Maximus, he was 12 plus and the love of our lives. So after the tears started to dry, I started to look on the internet to adopt a German Shepherd. I happened to find this site in all my searches, and saw a German Shepherd(s) I would like to adopt. We filled out the proper application, and low and behold, my husband and I adopted King. We are so excited. We could not have found a better dog. King fit all our needs, friendliness, fun loving, happy boy! Oh, did I forget to say beautiful. After several interviews, we were selected to be his adoptive family. If I had not found Rescue Me, I would still be searching. Instead, we are excitedly waiting for our new family member. We will be giving a donation to both Rescue Me as well as where we are adopting him from. If you are looking for a dog, I can only say, have some patience, and you will also find the new member of your family. Thank you Rescue Me! -Janice Gatulis

I love Rescue Me. I found a stray, long-haired German Shepherd, a beautiful boy that was on death's doorstep. I just got an apartment a few months ago and while I have my own rescue I knew I could not keep Ragnar. After sneaking him around for several weeks and around $2000 dollars getting him healthy, I found the perfect couple. It was a prayer answered. Thank you, Rescue Me. I will be forever grateful. -Carolyn

This was such a tormenting situation for us over the last year trying to contact other shelters and agencies and all of them telling us to put him down.      We had a very great experience with Rescue Me. Giving up a dog who is part of our family was a very difficult decision. I had looked at other sources for adoption, and never felt comfortable enough to post or follow through with the adoption process. Rescue Me made this process easier than I expected, affordable, and rather quickly. I am very happy I went through with this process with Rescue Me, and would recommend others to look here first looking for a new family member, or looking to find a home for their loved ones.

Thanks to the deceased owner's sister, Marti, for paying to have Bradley neutered! The family with which he convalesced was not a good match as he frightened the children, but he did get to recuperate and be ready to go to his new country home where he will have more open space and attention from his new best friend, Danny! Thanks to all who read the Rescue Me post and considered adopting Bradley.
